Very helpful. I'm an old lady (79) but was able to follow your directions easily and change the blade. Thanks!

Excellent video. Wish I had watched this about twenty minutes ago. I didn't know you could leave the plastic guard on to change the blade. Now I have a challenge to get those parts back together.

Thank you so much! I’m just getting into renovation projects, this model of mitre saw belonged to my grandfather who did a lot of construction work. Using this and some other videos online, I was able to clean and restore my grandad’s saw again, it made my mother tear up to see it work, she thought it was not fixable. Woodworking and renovations are how we remember my grandpa and it makes me happy to hear the sound of the blade once more and to smell sawdust in the air. I’m building her some shelves now! Thank you so much 😊

My neighbor made the mistake of taking the center screw out to get the guard off. Couldn"t get it back together. Took me a half hour to figure a way to reassemble , and i fix gadgets like this all the time. He should have read this! Thanks!

Got a second hand saw, someone took the blade off, someone else tried to then remove the bolt to fit new blade. They tightened that bolt extremely tight not realising it was reverse thread. Took everything to untighten it.
The centre hole for the blade on a 1040, is 25.4mm.
    Needed a bush to fit a 235mm blade i had with a 30mm hole.
The 1040 would otherwise get a 255-60mm blade.
Still cuts well with the smaller blade. Firmly secured on a makita saw stand, which came with the saw. Very cheap deal.
    This video helped me🙋😊

Thank you so much for recording and putting up this video. I think I had to watch it five times before I felt confident enough to get the job done, but - JOY - and your video was invaluable to the effort.

Cris - Great articulate video. The details - like re: to screws, etc. helped expedite my job so much.

Super helpful. Last half hour I was unsuccessfully trying to get the blade of my L1020.
I'm sure the CW versus CCW was the issue, but I will try tomorrow.
Also like the 'block of wood' trick, because my latch is for some reason stuck.

Nearly perfect video 👍. Except for using the wood to lock the blade. On the back of the blue motor cover is a unpainted metal tab. It’s the blade lock. (Assuming your unit still has it)

Nice Job Chris. I just changed the blade on the same model Makita. The blade is hitting the guard when I use the saw. I have checked my alignment and everything looks fine. I have tried to reinstall the guide several times and the same issue happens. Any suggestions? Is this an issue with this model? Thanks.

There should be a lever you push to keep the blade from turning

Do you like this saw? I have someone selling one for 125- worth it or no?

    • @ChristopherLum
      @ChristopherLum  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I really do like the saw. It has been in my family for probably 20 years and never had a problem. I'm not sure if $125 is a good deal as I'm not aware of the market but this saw has been great and I'm glad I have it.
