Man, I wished you lived in Jacksonville Florida and that you were my neighbor. I have a 2011 Ford f250 with the actuators and blend acting up. Real cold some days and then hot air out of nowhere starts blowing while set on cold ac. I had the evap core replaced about three years ago and after they put it all back together the damn actuators and blend door started acting up and the mechanic said that he would have to redo most of what he just got through doing to change those parts. Just spent $1800.00 on replacing the evap. I recommend to anybody who has to do this to their rig to go ahead and replace all the actuators and blend door while the dash is out. Anyway thanks for the video, it was VERY INFORMATIVE and detailed. Take care sir.

Nice work Mr. Smith. Happened to one of two 2012 F550 crew trucks) I had. The crew foreman ran the AC on with the windows down, while chipping brush in a burn over area (i.e., Wildland Fire area, burnt and dried wood). Cant' fix stupid. So, had to replace the condenser unit due to water and dust = MUD! No cabin filter, go figure. Loved the trucks though, solid work horses, very few problems. Subscribed!

Wow! I think you might have answered my question!!
I bought a used 2016 Ford F-250 super duty flatbed, 4 door truck.
The air conditioner acts like it doesn’t have enough volume… like you described.
When I test drove the truck.. I requested the air conditioner gets checked for leaks and charge.
The salesman took me for another test ride and at that time the air conditioner was working better but, not as good as the Toyota truck I drive.
He said his mechanic charged it and no leaks found.
I notice that the cold air and fan pressure doesn’t always seem to be pushing out as much as it should and I was thinking it seems to be in the dashboard.., the vents.
I’m gonna give this cleaning a try!!
    I’m sure it’s dirty inside!

Great video! This just worked like a dream on a 2013 F-550 Dump Truck. Sure enough evaporator was clogged solid, thank you! I did find one bolt in my truck that you did not mention if this helps anyone, drivers side there is 10mm bolt that goes from the door frame into the dash support. A rubber grommit comes off and there it is, can open door and look in from the outside. Thanks again, few hour job and back in business! -Jay

Just last week I had a Ford E450 bus in front of me with the complaint of the defroster only working on high. Well I ended up taking the dash off and thoroughly investigating the HVAC system and testing all the vaccuum controlled doors and looking in all duct work for blockages. I replaced the resistor which only slightly improved the air flow. I took the blower motor off and tested it on my bench to which it flew across the room. Everything minus the resistor was working perfect. As I said the replacing the resistor only slightly made it better. I then thought to myself how the blend door opens and realized that the reason why when the temp is set to cold there is plenty of air flow yet when set to hot there is minimal airflow it's the way the blend door is designed along with the ductwork and air chamber of the system. You see when that blend door opens on full heat it blocks pretty much the entire system from receiving air flow as the heater core is at an angle and because of the cover that sits over the heater core, the one you can unbolt and see the heater core, is flat and not curved creates a very narrow space for heated air to travel thru and thus you get barely any airflow when the blend door is open/the dial is turned to heat.

Used to do this with my 2nd gen dodge. Didnt have to remove the dash to do it. One thing i recommend is using evap coil cleaner used on central A/C house units. Works great. I am saddened to see ford is not using a cabin air filter on these trucks. It got tiring every year cleaning the evap on my dodge was hoping my new ford a filter 😣
