I just got a quote from the local Ford dealer. They quoted 10hrs at $135 and hour. Thats when I went to you tube. I called another ford dealer and they estimated 2-3 hours of labor plus parts. I purchased the parts for $32 at the dealer. It took about 2 hours to remove, replace part, and reassemble dash. FYI my new part was not in the same gear placement for an easily slide into place. I had to turn on ignition and play with the temp control to get the gears to line up. The only other issues i had was getting the duct work apart and aligning the gears of the actuator. (this took about 45 minutes to figure out). This video is spot on how easy it is to do.
    Thanks

This video and some of the helpful comments are amazing. Serious kudos to you all. My mechanic told me it was going to be $1000+ for labour and I should just drive with the windows open. took me 2.5 hours with not the best tools and it is working perfectly now. Thanks !

Very helpful video. Your instructions to access behind the dash were spot on. My 2015 Super duty had the Temp Blend Door behind the horizontal vent tube that is behind the air bag. After I discovered it wasn't where your video indicated I poked around and found it.... Just before I was ready to call a mechanic. Not the easiest repair but definitely better than paying a dealership service department jackal. Thanks again.

Awesome video. Helped a lot in replacing upper actuator in my '08. I had to slightly rotate my blend door in order to get it lined up with the factory indexed actuator shaft on the new one. No big deal at all. Replaced upper and lower actuators in less than 2 hrs. System working great again.

Hey buddy, I like your videos to a certain extent. The hardest items to remove where everyone is sure to have troubles with and well, you already went through the headaches of removing them and they're just sitting there for you to simply pull the part that's already disconnected out like its no problem at all. I understand editing the video's for time purposes but please be sure to expound on how tough it was to get the item out so we don't feel like we're doing something wrong.

Thanks for this video. I was able to order the part on Amazon (still) and install it without anyone even knowing at a campground while on vacation. Took about an hour. Only broke one clip on the USB port for the Sync connector. A small screw now holds the plug in place. Have to be resourceful while camping. LOL 2009 F250 5.4.

Awesome video, took a couple hours to fix. One thing I discovered when my blend door shaft wasn’t aligned with the new actuator…I found the shaft continues down through the heater box and terminates in a small knob below the dash, behind the cup holder assembly. It’s about a 1” diameter smooth knob that rotates with the door shaft. If things are not lined up for reassembly, just manually rotate the knob while trying to install the actuator, till it drops into place. Worked perfect. Wondering if I could have used this knob to manually adjust temperature prior to fixing?

Great video only thing missing is if you have trouble getting the alignment correct with the new actuator, take the old one apart and use the gear to rotate the gate manually until it clocks right with the new actuator. Thanks for the video. Super helpful for my superduty. 08 fummins 450, 6 speed manual.

True but he covered every thing so well i have nothing but praise. I had that issue as well and by looking at my little mirror on a stick with a Flashlight point it down where you can see this blind receiver on door Box I was able to use a switch blade knife quit playing knife and stick it down in the spines and turn it to the proper position. I use the new one beside the old 1 to to position position the spines where I needed them. Do not try and turn the spines on the actuator. For the last few years I have been lazy (and cheap) about this, setting the temp to either 60 or 90 and adjusting the fan speed for climate control like you would in a 1972 Pinto. Replaced the top actuator a while back, but it turned out not to be the noisy one. Can you recall from your experience if drilling through the duct that is in the the way of the screw for the lower actuator (or cutting it) would provide easy access to the screw? Of course the duct would then need to be repaired, but that is exactly what gorilla duct tape is for :)

I think this is the problem on my company van, E250. It is intermittant, and not completely off all the time. It will blow cold through the defrost vents, then start blowing through the dash vents. So the blend door is opening and closing at rando, which is a pain in the ass on hot days after the van has been sitting in the sun. I will try this and let you know how it goes. I could take it to the shop, but then be without my van for a week.

I actually had to open up the new motor to aline the spline of the gear to the same position as the old motor. Figured that out after an hr of trying to get it in to the slot. It didn't just slide in for me. After carefully opening and adjusting, the friggin thing popped right in.
It turn out to be the hardest part of this project

My 2008 F250 has dual climate controls . The left side ducts are blowing warm the right side is blowing cold. both sides set on 60. Are the actuators most likely the issue? are they both by the heater box as you stated? Are they both the same part number?
My local mechanic quoted me 978.00 for the job. I can do it myself and just take the day off work if it as easy as you displayed on the video. Your input is very much appreciated.

I have a 2015 Lariate f250 with dual climate control. I have been getting this tap tap tap....... tap tap tap..... sound from behind the dash/glovebox area. I almost always notice it after turning the truck off and sitting in it for a few seconds, that it will do that for a couple minutes then stop is this a blend door actuator issue? Sometimes with none of omg heat or ac on everything off it will randomly allow hot air to blow into the truck. The only way to stop it is turn the ac/heater on then off again.

The ac compressor clutch will not engage. I also have b11e7 code which is air distribution damper. Would this be my problem? I hear a little clicking before i start the truck as well.

Absolutely awesome video. I feel like I can do this myself now. I have an dual control 08 F250. With the AC set on 68, the left blows cold and the right hot. If I increase the passenger temperature, the right side will get hotter, but when I lower it back to 68, it still stays hot, but not as hot. The driver side works normally getting hot and cold. So, my question is: What door actuator should I replace? The one in your video or the one behind the glove box? Thanks for your help.

Any chance you could do a video on a blend door actuator replacement on a dual climate control F-150? My Dad's just starting blowing hot on the driver side while the A/C is turned on and working normally on the passenger side. From what I've read the blend door actuator seems to be the culprit but haven't been able to find any information on swapping them (I believe there is two in the dual climate control versions). I am in same boat, lost ac, had heat, then lost heat also. You mention blend door fixed your fixed ac but lost heat. What was your end result and fix for the heat issue and or what you have do get it all back to proper function? Thanks for any info.

Have you posted a video for the left hand actuator for dual climate control yet? My driver side ac isn't working and I'm trying to replace the actuator for it

@@lush0 I don't remember if I found a video or not, but I was able to figure it out. I don't remember enough about it to tell you anything. That was just a cheap find that I was repairing to flip.

I have a 2010 f250 with dual climate controls. The blender is in a different place further to the right. I have it out but can't see how to get the part back in place. There is a white plastic cog on the end of the arm that I can't seem to fit on. Any ideas?

I have an 03 F350. It is blowing cold air but will only blow out the defrost and sometimes will be blowing from all vents. Does not respond to the knob position. Do I need to blend door to repair mine or is it something different? Also where is it located on my model? Thanks

I actually found the problem. It was actually the 4x4 vacuum solenoid on the passenger fender. Shocked the heck out of me too. But I found out that the vent actuator is vacuum controlled and it runs through the same solenoid as the 4x4

My heater is only blowing through the dash vents no matter where the switch is. Could this be a blend door issue?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  ปีที่แล้ว

No you have a vacuum supply issue to the HVAC control head.

What's the difference between blend door and mode door... My superduty only blows air out the dash vent and it won't go to defrost or floor.

Wear some thick gloves when doing the duct work or you will probably be bleeding by the end. It doesn't just pop out through the air bag area like this video shows.

Yeah for the manual climate control still knobs, for the 4x4 I actually prefer the knobs compared to the push button on the explorer.
