- High Protein Sticky Korean Fried Chicken Meal Prep! Only 452 Calories🔥
This has to be one of the best chicken & rice recipes, so much flavor, the perfect balance of sweet, spicy & savoury!
Macros per serve (4 total)
452 Calories | 40g Protein | 51g Carbs | 10g Fat
Ingredients (4 servings)
- 700g Cubed Chicken Breast
- 2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1.5 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 tap Paprika
- 1 tsp Salt
- 30g Cornflour (Brand: Tesco)
For the Glaze
- 50ml Light Soy sauce mixed with 50ml Water (total 100ml)
- 25g Honey
- 40g Gochujang Paste (Brand: Haepyo can find this on Amazon - you can substitute this for Tomato paste mixed with sriracha if you can’t gind gochujang)
Pickled Cucumbers (can be stored separately)
- Thinly sliced Cucumber
- 20ml Light Soy Sauce (Brand: Lee Kum Kee)
- 10ml Rice Vinegar
- OPTIONAL Chilli Flakes (can be really spicy, skip this if needed)
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
Important cooking notes
- When coating the chicken with cornflour makes sure it’s well coated. Or you can skip the cornflour all together if you don’t have it
- When making the glaze, add the ingredients on low heat then keep stirring till it starts to bubble lightly then let it reduce for 3-4 mins. It should thicken
- You can store the cucumbers separately and warm up the meal prep without them. Better served cold

btw y’all should let the cucumber sit in the fridge for a bit so the flavors can really get in
If you're doing meal prep (which is what this recipe is for), the cucumbers will be sitting in the fridge.
Pack the cucumbers separately unless you like microwaved cucumbers.
You should also post them as videos then I can save them to my meal prep list

For ppl outside the UK: don’t use corn flour, use corn starch. Corn flour would be closer to masa or corn meal.

@UAtom he means to say, corn flour in UK, means corn starch in USA (example).
Here, saying "corn flour" would be closer to corn meal (like for corn bread) or masa (like for corn tortillas).
@@uatom what he’s using in the video is what we in the US call corn starch (idk what other countries refer it as). You shouldn’t be using corn flour for this recipe anyway because it’s has a higher gluten content and could affect the texture of the chicken. Ultimately you want to have some form of starch in there.
Wish I read this comment before cooking 😆 but with corn flour was also good.
And this is not recommended for people inside the UK as flavor kills them

700 g chicken, sliced into cubes. 452 calories
mix in with 1 TBSP of : garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, salt, cornflower.
mix well, cook on medium heat for 8 minutes or till chrispy.
(looked like) 1/4 C coy sauce (could've been 1/3 C) + H20 + honey 25 g + 40 gochujang paste.
cucumber: lt. soy sauce, garlic, chili flakes, garlic, rice vinegar, sesame seeds

In love with this. I will say that you can forgo adding the salt in with the seasoning. It comes out super salty even when using low sodium/ light soy sauce. Other than that 🔥 recipe! Could eat it for lunch every day!
I agree. Forgo the salt in seasoning. Mine came out way too salty even with light soy sauce! Trying next time with more honey and no salt!

Mix - Cook 6-8 Mins medium heat

Soy sauce + water
25g honey
40g gochujang
Add & mix chicken

my walmart (where i was when i decided to try this) doesnt sell gochujang so i tried to substitute it with Red pepper paste and it didnt stick to the chicken so it wasnt perfect but still pretty bomb

I swear I thought I invented this. I'm half Korean and I made this after watching my mom make something similar. I call it spicy sweet chicken. Sometimes I'd stir the rice and chicken together and slice ip kimchi and fry it all up like a fried rice.

Do all gochujangs taste the same? I don’t know what kind of gochujang paste you used because it’s more redder than the one I had. Mines was dark and I just tried to cook this. It was nasty af. Gochujang brand probably matters. Which do you use?

id recommend to add less salt to the chicken. the soy sauce is already salty, but that's just me :)
if you wanna meal prep boxed lunch style, separate the cucumbers so that you only microwave the chicken & rice

How much calories is it with just the chicken without rice and other add on?
i made this recipe and made a few modifications. first, i cut down on half the soy sauce plus a bit of water to reduce sodium, but since i didn’t have gochujang, i used sriracha instead and stir fried the sliced cucumbers. it still turned out delicious tho!

Mine became too salty. I think soy sauce is too much, or I should skip salt from the spice mixture when marinating the chicken with corn starch.
