I specifically clicked this video to see how much WatchMojo would butcher the pronunciations and lore as can be the case with relatively obscure fictional material. WatchMojo and other have done it before in what is clearly 'We must make a video about this because everyone else is' and have never heard of the IP before. Pleasantly surprised as well! I thought Nyneave's name was pronounced somewhat differently in the glossary, but the way she pronounced it is the way I always said it in my head, anyway. But otherwise, yes - most of the pronunciations are spot on.

Hell yes, i started reading the books in spring of 1990 when they came out and lived through 2+ year waits in between books, hi death and waiting another 2 years for TGS :)

i started just after his death without knowing it and when i hit the end i went searching for the next one and freaked out that he had passed away without finishing!
Waiting for those damned books got me into other various series. Ever read "The deed of Paksenarrion" by Elizabeth Moon? There are several prequels and followup books after the initial 3. I found more she has written to go with it all. It's a great series and took up the time between Jordan's books. I bought several first edition hardbacks of them; now sitting on a shelf because I'll never touch them again since I can have them all on a Kindle. Tor books are made cheaply; the spine breaks too easily when reading/handling the books for untold hours.
"One of the five of you" is definite Aes Sedai speak. Technically true, but deliberately misleading. There's no chance Moiraine thinks that the Dragon could be a woman. But she's speaking the way she does because she wants to convince the girls to come with her. It's one of the ways they're going to condense the plot for TV I'm sure.
There are Taver'ran like moments for the women in the books. Perhaps, the show is making them Taver'ran to reflect that? After all, they were almost or just as crucial to the victory in the Last Battle as the three men.
I dont think they would change who the Dragon is, of course. I just think they are putting more emphasis early on how important Egwene and Nyneave will be in the Last Battle. SPOILERS!!! After all, it was Egwene's sacrifices and strength that reunited the Tower, destroyed many of the Shadow's channelers and repaired the pattern from bale fire. It was Nynaeve who healed Stilling and Gentling, helped cure Saidin, and was side by side with Rand in the fight. They may not have been called Taver'ran, but like Talmanes said to Egwene in Path of Daggers (or maybe it was Crown of Swords) she comes pretty close, as does Nynaeve.

As a fan of the book series, I can spot so many deviations from the books that I am truly worried. But, I'll be watching this and hopefully it won't disappoint. It may be suitable for people who haven't read the books though...
In all seriousness, I thought you guys where gonna butcher this video. But you guys did well. Giving enough information without going into spoiler territory. Good job
Great video! In terms of glimpses of fan-favourite characters, you missed Uno (but you don’t have to pick up any cards). Just before we see Agelmar, there is a bald Shienaran with what looks like the strap to an eyepatch on his head.
I came into the show expecting adaptations, and alterations. That said, the Dragon Reborn can only be male. It's part of the fear, and danger in the Dragon. The male channeler who fought the Dark One, sealed him away, and led to the Breaking of the World with all male channelers going insane. This Perrin iteration caught me by surprise, too, but I actually like how it played out in the story. I'm trying not to be one those purist snobs. lol
@@Spoiler_Alertist I can see points of hope, but the season finale left a very nasty taste. SPOILERS: I still like the Perrin adaptation. I don't like what they've done with Mat. His darkness developed over time. He was just a go-happy trickster. They depict him as this dirty guy. They trashed his parents, which not sure if that'll work out later on--assuming Abel and Tam still are together in this story line. Rand, the character seems fine. He does fumble around a lot in the books, especially at the start, but they didn't do the last part justice at all. I understand why most the events happened in Tar Valon, though that leaves out the daughter-hier--if memory serves me right. I'm sure they can work with all that though. I just see points of hope, and a whole lot of wth-was-that. Making them all ta'veren also made no sense to me. Still stand with the Dragon can only be a man. It's one the HUGE main points in the story, and the fear in it. I don't care about race changes, though I don't know if they plan on keeping with the characteristics in the books. If memory serves me right, the people of Tear were the darkest in Westland, and the Atha'an mere were the only ones depicted as straight up black. The Seanchan piqued my interest, though I ain't sure about the facepaint, gaudy outfits for damane, or the a'dam. Hopefully season two fixes some things, and does better.
@Byron Holmes I like your balanced optimistic take here. I dont necessarily agree with it but I can appreciate the optimism. I didn't mind Perrin's adaptation either. it shortcuts having to explain his worry about hurting people accidentally and his hesitancy toward the axe. but he doesnt do anything besides kill his wife throughout the entire season. they've butchered Matt and his family. feels like completely different characters. Rand just seems bland. it doesn't help they stole Tarwins gap from him and gave it to a woman who couldn't make it as a novice in the white tower. my biggest gripe is the nauseating level of feminism. every major moment or showing of power was given to women. even Nynaeve telling Lan how to track in the blight! like really? it just seems they've made changes not out of necessity for tv but for a "message." its very sad to me. especially since RJ's world was already full of diversity and extremely strong female characters. they won't be getting my support for season 2. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me though!!
@@Spoiler_Alertist They tried so hard to make women look so strong that they made them look like incompetent fools..... That was my take on that, but I intentionally skipped past the woke-ism they apparently just had to put in there. I'll at least start season two. Season one, I can't say it was what I hoped. The one good thing that came out of it is that I started "reading" the whole series again through audiobooks. Between work, an autistic child, and trying to get prepared for college, I just don't have time to read them the good ole fashioned way. lol You are right though. The entire world of RJ was full of powerful men, and women, all without the needed help to appear powerful. I like how folks bring up stuff like spankings, pig tails, or stuff like how all the men and women think everyone else is better at understanding the opposite sex.... As if that's such a strange notion. It seems a lot of people project their own issues into the books, and make it out like that was the author's intention.
Nice job on this Durandir/Nick! Good to see that WatchMojo's WoT coverage is being covered by the old hands. Please cover all WoT content on this channel in the future! Also great job on the pronunciations Rebecca! You both did great!

While I'm a HUGE fan of Brando-Sando, I really appreciate, and I know he does too, the fact that his name isn't being tossed around all willy-nilly with this show. He would want the late Robert Jordan to have all the credit, when fans finally get the adaptation they've been waiting literally decades for. I appreciate that. Like, a ton.

Wow! I’m feeling some super fan mojo here! This was written by someone that knows The Wheel of Time, not someone who glossed over it. Excellent work! Loved it!
Good job
After watching the first season I think Watchmojos research team had more book readers than the actual show makers.
Never heard of the books but looks great. Got me hooked already.
Okay this was done surprisingly well, NICE!
May you always find water and shade, WatchMojo!
Great video! In terms of glimpses of fan-favourite characters, you missed Uno (but you don’t have to pick up any cards). Just before we see Agelmar, there is a bald Shienaran with what looks like the strap to an eyepatch on his head.
The video would be demonetized for just mentioning Uno lol
Wow good catch
this is absolutely the best mass media coverage of this show that i have seen as of yet.
I'm trying not to be one those purist snobs. lol
so now that the season is over what are your thoughts?
Robert Jordan: provides a detailed glossary of terms with phonetic pronunciations at the end of every book
WoT fans: "Nyah!"
My husband favorite book series is finally coming to life!!!! I am super excited!
Well done...Accepted....you will be Aes Sedai in ten short years...
I have always loved the Ogeir Loil, his name gives us a lesson on his own personality Loyal and he is thru all the books. He remains Loyal to the cause, he always does the right thing. Even when the right thing isn't always the easy thing. He is kind and loving a tru friend. No matter the cost.
I’ve never read the series, but I may start to understand the show
Wow, good job Mojo!
Number one missing thing is
The original story!
Wotmania brought me :D Great job on the script, Nick!
Bravo, WatchMojo! Very impressive work!
I started watching it, I'm liking the story so far. I've never read the books, they're in my TBR though, so maybe I'll start reading soon.
#spoilers? lmao love it, helping explain the details people might not appreciate from the books. diggin it.
Well researched
There’s only 60 braid tugs in the whole series??😳 ain’t no way 🤣
Great content of the video! It seems someone knows what they are talking about. My one suggestion is in regards to the sound levels. The trailer sound was much louder than the voice of the presenter.
Top thing I missed in the trailer is any resemblance to the books
I really enjoyed Season 1. Now, I can't wait for Season 2!!!
WOW, I'm thrilled that we now have a new series that's going to explode like GOT did! When I found out they were making this a series I was skeptical but NO, FINALLY THEY HOT IT RIGHT....now if the writers, producers etc stay true to form it's going to be epic as was this analysis from MOJO! Well done!!! ⭐
it's sad to look back at the excitement of fans only to know the utter disappointment it turned out to be. I wish they'd cancel it and stop tarnishing the name of an amazing story.
Can't wait for episode 4 already
Ummm so... due to a series of unfortunate events, I read the 1st 10 books while I was a Friggin' Inmate.
I honestly spent 19 months horizontal, reading. I dont like people & Robert's writing was my best companion! Probably kept me alive, avoiding people
Wow never stumbled upon a watchmojo video this early!
Me neither 😁
Impressive deep dive knowledge of the entire series. Few outlets that aren't actually WoT fansites have gotten even 1/10 the accuracy, let alone the lore, this well.
Great stuff there. But you didn't write one very important thing fan misses in the trailer:
Me missing the news of WoT getting it's own series before getting recommended this video
Someone at WatchMojo is a Dragonsworn! You have no toh towards me.
My husband rides from World’s End toward Tarwin’s Gap, toward Tarmon Gai’don. Will he ride alone?
3:42 Seems he cut off that Yellow's finger for her ring before burning her. Research well done, WatchMojo! Sniffing and smoothing of skirts? Only a reader would know!
Oh, the moustache knuckling… this is so well written and researched, well done!
Ironically, Morraine must break her oaths to save the world. That's called foreshadowing done correctly.
No. Moraine is bound by the three oaths. She is literally incapable of doing so without renouncing them with a binding rod. That said there's definitely a bit of wiggle room.
@@ravenwind420 Not to spoil anything, but she gets her hands on a binding rod. ;)
Somebody on the Watch Mojo definitely knows Wheel of Time. I started reading the series in the 1999 and there actually WERE several things in this trailer that I missed! I LOLd (for real) at 'Narg smart'. The real question is if Bela gets a real role :)
He's one of the evil pieces of trash helping Amazon throw away Robert Jordan's story
@@customsongmaker dude...I know him personally...he's a serious contender for thr actual biggest WoT fan in the entire world. But sling that bile. That, and porn, are the foundations of the internet, after all. Lol
@@TrashGunner I know him personally myself. He's a paid shill for Amazon, lying to the fans and pretending the show is good. His main concern is putting gender-neutral pronouns into all of his new books. I asked him why Amazon was making such drastic changes to the story, and he said "Because we, the people making the show, aren't fans of the books. So the more changes, the better."
Good quality video
well there were 2 other boys close to the right age as mentioned in the books. Moraine reduces it to the three before they leave
Tai'Shar Rebecca! great job
So exciting!!
I think "The wheel of time" is gonna higher then"Game of thrones"
This is the first time ever that i feel impressed by watch mojo's information 😂
Hope this will be awesome !
