    I can’t believe this video has been published 5 days ago and I just saw it today! Great stuff as always.
    Regarding the primer, does that mean the main purpose of the grey primer in the previous video was to amplify the imperfections so we can sand them down? Also, does that mean our first layer of primer should always be grey regardless of what colour we use for the body?

    • @JunsMiniGarage
      @JunsMiniGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s right! The grey primer is to reduce the light reflection on the shiny plastic body so mold lines and imperfections can be seen more easily. Grey primer is generally used as it is easier to work with. Once it’s passed the “grey primer test” then you can choose(or keep it grey if you are painting dark colors)a different undercoat depending on the final color of your choice.

    I really like Tamiya's spray paints overall but I think Tamiya's TS-13 Clear is better for topcoating over tinted windows since the intensity of the shine is higher than other brands. I personally like using Mr Hobby Premium Topcoat Gloss for a lighter shine and Mr Hobby Super Clear Gloss for a bit of a deeper shine, since they have a shine to it but it's not as much as TS-13 and is a bit easier to use. One thing to note is Mr Hobby paints tend to spray a bit wider for the area compared with Tamiya.

      It can be used but it’s designed for use under plastic rather than over plastic so the finish may not be as glossy as you’d expect, the big difference is it’s designed to be flexible and be able to move with the flexing RC body’s.

    Damn, the part that i was really interested in seems to be missing entirely - i don't think there's a part three? I am wondering at which stage things like window trim, head and tail lights (the backing for them, rather) etc gets painted, and how you glue things like wipers etc onto the clear coat. Great video, great idea for a video too, just sad it's (the series) not finished.

    • @JunsMiniGarage
      @JunsMiniGarage  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It looks a little more realistic if it’s painted in black or grey. But you don’t have to paint it with an airbrush. I used to paint it with a paint brush before putting the windows in. If you are to airbrush it then it’s better to do it before painting the body(just hold the body upside down)so the spring clips won’t get in the way. Whatever gets the job done. 👍

    Hello from Melbourne. Many thanks for your informative video. If applying decals and setting solution, would you apply them to painted surface then add the clear gloss? Regards, Mike

    • @JunsMiniGarage
      @JunsMiniGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that would be the usual way to apply decals. But if you are applying clear gloss over decals, it’s better to apply thin and mist coats before going fully wet coats because the clear coats will melt the decals if applied too heavily. I usually don’t apply clear over decals unless the project has a lot of racing decals. If it only has a few(emblems and model type)decals I would just put them on at last. If it’s your first car then I would recommend not clear coating over decals at all. Hope my answer helps!

    Can we use the spray paint during a winter like under 50 degree Fahrenheit? And in the video that you make? When do you spray the paint? Is it during fall, summer or winter?

    • @JunsMiniGarage
      @JunsMiniGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is possible to spray paint under 50F but the paint will have a hard time being evenly atomized over the surface and it will take longer to dry and cure. I wouldn’t recommend it but if you wanna try it out, I suggest warming the can in warm water and warming up the car body with a hair dryer before painting. You might also need to keep it warm after painting so the thinner can evaporate properly.

    • @JunsMiniGarage

      Great question. I prime all parts, but I also use acrylic paints for small parts and the primer helps with paint adhesion when it comes to using acrylic paints on bare plastic. Mr. Jun. Can I ask you something very annoying thing about building a model kits? My problem is, there a residue left on my model kit that I making, and I am using tamiya masking tape. What is the tips for this to remove the residue?

    • @JunsMiniGarage
      @JunsMiniGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. Tamiya’s masking tapes usually don’t leave any residues on painted surface. I suspect that the cause is coming from the soft paint that hasn’t dried completely. In that case, the masking tapes will create marks on the paint when you push the tapes hard on the painted surface. Did you use tamiya acrylic paint as a final coat? Tamiya’s acrylic paint(bottle)is soft and it takes a long time to dry to a hard finish. I don’t recommend using it for car bodies. If you use Tamiya’s TS paint(spray cans) then the paint will dry to a hard finish. It is great for sanding, polishing, and masking tapes won’t leave any marks on the body. Thank you for the question and I hope my answer helps.
