I saw a video recently where a news team were interviewing this 102 year old black man that was still driving himself around town and working around his home. They just had to ask what he ate out of curiosity and he said he had no particular diet. He said I eat a little fish, chicken and beef with a few vegetables and drink milk, lots of milk. I found it interesting that milk was the only one he emphasized. Then he said I smoke lots of cigars. He said he smoked about a box of cigars every week and had smoked since he was a teenager. I guess some people are made from cast iron. He outlived all the doctors that said it will kill you. There was one other thing he emphasized, he said he read his Bible and credited his longevity to his Lord and Savior. That definitely is a stress reducer.
Good Morning Dr Amy. As you are well aware, everyones reaction to you having cancer is to help..ie tell you what you should eat and what you should do and how you should feel and how you should think and what treatments to have and to go to Mexico and and and. I was a healthy eater before my ovarian cancer but after 2 years of daily research I made some solid changes after cancer to mostly organic and eating double plant based protein, no processed meats, reduce wine with dinner, and settled at living a 20/80 rule overall. 20% of my weekly intake is eating my non cancer foods, like at a restaurant or someones home for dinner. I have an alcoholic drink every 2 weeks, a sweet or salty chips/popcorn every two weeks. However, I really like my daily home made healthy foods like stir frys, eggs and avocado, cottage cheese and beet salad, green lettuce and apple salads, stoked oats with fruit and yogurt, roasted vegetables and chunky cabbage/veg/ground turkey soups. Some months I am even running at 10/90% so I feel very confident with my food intake and listen to your updates every week to keep me on the right track. I don't know how I would have navigated this without you. I am now ok with saying "thank you for your concern but I am comfortable with my choice of nutrition/food" to people who judge constantly. It is hard not to get offended as I am and have always been a researcher of the highest order with every interest or passion of mine. To say I am not doing it correctly or think I am not on top of this is some times frustrating, especially if they get forceful and argue that their point is correct. I am a very confident, self motivated person from a large dairy farm back ground who became an airline transport pilot and you validate my food choices every week. Your knowledge is extremely valuable to us all. Thank you for helping me continue to learn as new studies arise as well as your feelings throughout your cancer journey. I felt them all and with your help, you have validated my feelings and thoughts and put me back on track. In this holiday season a fellow 3 year ovarian clear cell carcinoma survivor, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart and wish you a Safe and Happy Holiday Season to you and your family! Heather from Ontario
Those judgy "geniuses" become fair game for me! "Did you discover the CURE??" "You need to stop telling me about it and call the media!" "Man kind is waiting for your breakthrough discovery!" "Quick, honey, I'm a lost cause, get to the hospital and STRAIGHTEN THEM OUT!!" And for those on Chemo: "Im too tired to care. Judge someone else. Now, get out."
I had Her2 positive breast cancer ,I only buy organic lactose free semi skimmed milk just to have in coffee , I buy plant based butter plus soya milk to have on ceral, occasionally eat cheese , so glad I can still Drink milk in coffee as soya tastes awful, thank you
Dr Amy, thank you for all the information. Since dairy is such a controversal debate I found it difficult to come to a conclusion. I lost a lot of weight - so do you think its is okay to eat dairy with more fat? Or is there another reason for low fat dairy?
I listened to someone about 5/6 years ago that said it's the protein found in milk, they could turn the rate of cancer cell growth up and down in rats with the amount of the casein, the protein found in milk which they gave them, since then I've avoided dairy, just some things at social events, I'm now going through treatment for a diagnosis of triple -ve breast cancer at 34, maybe it helped me not get diagnosed earlier or maybe it hasn't helped but I have felt healthier for reducing dairy generally
I am going through breast cancer treatment right now and I sometimes eat goat cheese with 23% fat. Is 23% fat considered as ''low fat'' or should I try to find cheese with lower percentages? What could be the maximum percentage that I can eat that it would still be considered as 'low fat'?
I would like to know who funded all this research. Hopefully, it's not a dairy product or business. Can you post a link to these studies. Or maybe I missed it on this channel.
Hi Dr. Amy. Please talk about organic sour cream. I know the concern is the fat. Do you think the benefits outweigh this concern for someone who has "zero" estrogen in the system (tested a few times - one ovary removed, uterus removed due to mucinuos neoplasm). When I eat about one table spoon of organic sour cream a day, my nails grows. Otherwise, my fingernails breaks and split and my toe nails don't grow at all (I had a bruise on a toe nail and could see a big diffetence in growth when I eat sour cream). Also, why don't I see calcium mentioned in my sour cream research? Should it be the same amount as calcium in sour cream as in yougurt and eating sour cream helps with building bones as well? I have been eating evo, avocado oil and don't see any chages in my nail growth for some reason.
I'm based in Italy and in my country the oncologists absolutely do not recommend to breast cancer patients any soy based foods. They advised me to drink oat milk instead of milk. Soy is kind of "banned". Last fall I wanted to take an energy supplement that contained traces of soy. I asked my oncologist for an opinion about that and she advised me against it, because of the soy, even if I would have taken the supplement only for 5 days! *_*

She's showing all the studies, you can Google them. I checked 2 and I didn't see any dependencies

What about the betacaseine A1 vs A2? I thought that was the main reason to avoid dairy...
What about triple negative breast cancer. Your body doesn't produce estrogen, progesterone, Her2 protein
Not every woman is struggling with weight gain. I'm struggling to gain weight.

I’m sorry you have received this information. It’s based on really outdated literature
@@dramycancerrecoveryhi, so drinking Soya milk is OK if I have had Estrogen positive breast cancer?
What about eggs pls?
The problem is the body-shape of the cow/goat inside the milk. It does not fit into an ideal human body shape and that causes all the problems.
Yeah but I love milk. I buy raw organic milk
dr amy there is u r wrong full fat dairy instead low fat dairy it fill u ,gave more energy as ketones brain n body requite less diet
Why are humans drinking cows milk anyway meant to grow a masdive cow or bull ?
Raw milk, A2 milk... Not pastorized!
Except that low fat dairy are higher in sugar
