- Hello everyone! First of all, apologies for the delay in releasing this video. The good news first: Thanks to the help of all the Patrons I was finally able to buy a new camera! So this will be the last pony in 720p :) The bad news, however, is that my microphone got jealous and stopped working. I'm using a headset mike, I hope the quality is okay. Please!!! Don't say that!! I loved the box, in all its pony-filled beauty. I had my family visiting so it was very difficult to film the unboxing (I tried but it didn't look good because I had to change my workspace and the light was so bad). But you sent me so many treasures! Some challenging ones, for sure! And a lot of inspiring possibilities. I started with this one because it was in a great shape. I like the long hair! If the pony goes to someone who wants it shorter, that's easily done. You can't stick cut hair back on, so longer is always sensible!

I agree about the long hair. Easy to trim, quite a bit harder to grow back. Amazing how big a difference a good cleaning made. With the new main and tail she looked new.
So interesting that you mention the accessories, I picked up a few G1 babies as my first ever restoration project and Baby Moondancer was one of them! The bag also came with some accessories, of which I think about half were Moondancer's. I feel very lucky to have some of these tiny parts nearly 30 years on and maybe I'll look around Etsy and complete the set one day.
Oh, nice first restoration project! It's a good idea to try to complete the set, I don't think they are expensive at all. I never paid too much attention to the accessories but after looking at these it did kind of made me want them too 😊😊
idk if anyone here remembers, but quite a few videos ago I asked for help finding my childhood ponies (a peachy vinyl unicorn and a purple hard plastic earth pony). well, I found them after a long while of searching! the unicorn was a Chap Mei pony (I didn't know those were sold in Europe so that was interesting), and the earth pony was G3 Cloud Dancer who apparently only had a McDonalds toy and no official G3 toy. pretty interesting to find out! I found Cloud Dancer together with a few more McDonalds MLP toys online, so I bought them and now I have my childhood pony again! I don't think I'll go looking for the Chap Mei pony, I think it's kinda ugly, haha

This pony feels very familiar but she doesn't seem to be in my collection. I swear I had this one but she may have been a casualty of 10+ house moves and my mother not caring about my stuff and giving most of it away without my permission while I was packing to move into my own house. I will have to acquire her again soon 😍

This pony really brought me back down the memory lane. I recall buying it when I was little after saving up for it for ages. My fav baby pony. So many memories. A rescue close to my heart :3

Althought I also get the point of preserving the original identity of the pony, please don't stop making those very long hairs! Maybe keep doing them for ponies that are way too damaged and old, so they'd already need to go through a lot of changes anyway.

I get the meow song every night from 7pm to 9pm. Feed my cat earlier than 9pm and he wakes you up at 6am vs 9 to 10am. Very painful to have such a food motivated cat. I love him to bits though.
Its just getting screamed at every time you move gets tiring lol.
Haha yes! When I was little, my cats ate dry food and they just some some from a big bowl when they felt like it. Boo, however, eats food from pouchies and she hates if it's not super fresh -.- So it's constant feeding, including the middle of the night! But I wouldn't change for the world 😊😊
@@RetroGeekCrafts Louie eats twice a day at set times because he'd scream into oblivion if I feed him earlier than usual and would beg for more if I fed him more than twice a day.
He only eats wet food because dry food fills him for 10 minutes and then he's hungry and screaming again. Any feedings off schedule make his food hunting behaviour and screaming worse. He once tried to eat wet cat litter because I fed him early in the morning so he wouldn't puke on a car trip. He eats basically everything not nailed down if given the chance.
Ahh! I remember, the childrens club I used to go to after school when I was younger had a whole bunch of older ponies, so I grew up with those ones and not the newer G4 ones. I remember the mother moondancer was my absolute favourite to play with (I forced my friend to be the baby one, they even had all the accessories that came with her)! It's nice to see a pony that I recognise :)

Recently I found my G2s, and well, they don't fare too bad, really, but I should wash them at the very least - I don't feel confident to do anything else, but then again, they are relatively fine. The tails and manes are a bit dry and scruffy, but that can be fixed.
I really love G2s the most - and I don't even think it's nostalgia talking - I just love their body and head shapes - graceful and cute.

For the glittery style, you might be able to use Golf Leafing Size. It's a special kind of glue used for gold leaf. If you used glitter instead I think it would work. Other things might be glitter glue for makeup.
To seal glitter you need something that's very high gloss, or you lose the sparkle.

@@RetroGeekCrafts just be careful with it!! DO NOT SPILL. It's a NIGHTMARE to clean up, cause it doesn't actually dry it just gets sticky. Which is fine for when you cover it entirely in gold leaf or glitter... not so fine when you spill it all over your desk and carpet. 😭
@@Palitato That's one of the reasons I've stayed away from gold leaf in general, even though it always fascinated me. Contrary to what the videos hint at, ai'm really clumsy. I keep knocking stuff over. So I will... Think about it. Woman up. And get the vacuum cleaner 😆
@@RetroGeekCrafts if you do spill it, I recommend soaking up as much as possible and getting warm water and soap to it asap.
For glitter, have a lint roller on hand! It works wonders for all those little sparkles.
I think it’s super sweet that you leave the names. It gives them a bit of history and reminds others that there was a child who loves them.

For the glitter paint I've always done a layer of metalic paint and a layer of micro glitter stuck on with glue. It's fiddly but if you have a tiny brush and patience it works really well.

i like to leave reroots with as long hair as possible, its so fun to play with and brush. I also try to make it super thick, i root each plug 3-4 times and its so luxurious.

Thank you for your videos! It is so relaxing to watch them! I also restore old G1 ponies and I always use chlorine bleach to remove pin dot mold. Just soak the pony in cold water and chlorine for a few hours and then scrub with a magic eraser. The chlorine makes no harm to the pony. Leave to soak in a room with good air conditioning because of the smell of chlorine and do not use hot water. 😊

I have two left from my childhood, back then I never knew their stories as I was busy by adore them and brush their hairs. They are literally twins little ones in light turquoise unicorns with a spinning top as symbol, till today I wonder what their Stories was never found anything.

Ohhh...I found a plush Moondance recently thrifting. She was fairly clean, I just used a baby wipe to clean the fabric in a few spots that had discoloration.

Oh lovely. I think you can leave the hair length wherever you want really. I look at it this way, it is a rehair, it's not her original hair, and it's not like you do a bad job when you rehair. who cares if it's a bit longer 🤷♀️ she looks lovely I love that pinky pic it's a lot brighter than her original hair and I think it's what her original hair should have been. I love that you give the ponies long hair! It allows for doing lovely curls (which of course always reduces the overall appearance of length). I also feel like it gives their owners the option of trimming the hair shorter if they want to.

I happen to enjoy the longer perm curls, but do whatever makes you happy! I honestly know next to nothing about the My Little Pony lore (I found your channel my accident and just find the cleaning and repairing soothing to watch), so I really enjoyed getting to hear Baby Moondancer's story. I'd love to hear more of them in the future if you can fit them in!

Moondancer was my first My Little Pony and Baby Moondancer was my first baby pony. Mama Mooddancer was given to me by my grandmother. She found Moon embedded in the side of the road. We were very poor, so any toy was treasured. I had to scrub her up and her tail was gone. (I later replaced it with a purple Lady Lovely Locks bird) I still have her, purple tail and all.

This pony was the first ever g1 I'd seen. I'd gotten her as a Christmas gift one year. My mom didn't know much about mlp bc she grew up poor but she knew it was a vintage one. I'm very happy I got introduced to them and this pony is one I'll cherish forever. The only problem is shes super yellow and has a marker stain on her nose. I dont really have the tools to fix that, but shes cute nonetheless
I'm so glad you like the G1s so much 😊😊 They are my favourite generation. This is my first unicorn pony, I think it's super sweet. I hope you can fix yours, if you live in a sunny place you can try just leaving the pony in the sun; you don't need any chemicals, the pen and sometimes the yellowing can fade just by exposure!

I think I had this exact same pony with nearly the same haircut, and I gave her little earrings that I didn't like on myself. I gave so many ponies and dolls and stuffed animals haircuts and piercings hahahha. Watching you restore these is so nostalgic because I had a lot of them as hand-me-downs through family, but we ended up giving them away when I got older since there weren't any girls in my generation. ;n; I still miss my ponies and my Schleich models.

I am so excited every time I see a video of yours I haven’t seen yet and especially when I recognize the pony or toy. I personally love the redesigns and interpretations you have for some of them they are so pretty. The level of detail that goes into some like the Dia de los Muertos pony is amazing and looks so satisfying and fun. I think it would be fun to one day get some old toys and redecorate them but hopefully more artistically than when I was a kid haha.

I always somehow end up with ponies who have mould or ingrained dirt, and its the toughest thing to remove. I have a Yum Yum with ingrained dirt, and I genuinely struggled to remove it. I tried acetone, toothpaste (which left yellow stains and I regret till this day) and boiling water, which further stained the pony for some reason when I scrubbed it. I'm going to give the UV chamber a try, because where I live there's practically no sunlight...You did a great job on this pony, and your videos always inspire me to keep trying to restore the ones I have to the best of my ability!

Oh, you've found another one of my ponies. - My old favorite as a child, and recently rediscovered along with my seashell and a few more.
I do wish to restore them. But I'm all thumbs when it comes this sort of thing and terrified of possibly ruin them.

I think part of the benefit and fun of doing a reroot is that you can make the hair longer. :) Maybe it’s a little less accurate but you or the next owner could always cut it later.
