    I most definitely don’t mind your voiceover as long as you leave us subtitle, aha. As a deaf viewer, it is very rare to see content creators caring enough to caption their videos :) so thank you so very much for that ❤️ beautiful pony, as always, her hair is gorgeous. Got a chuckle out of me when I saw you applying milliput in the pony’s ears, because it looked sorta like she got hearing aids now! Very coincidental, but still a cute thought to have a deaf pony

      Thank you so much for your message, I really appreciate you taking the time to write it ☺️☺️ I now always try to add subtitles, unfortunately this is something I hadn't realized before so there are a couple of videos with small intros and no pasted subs (I think they have CC but I will double check!!). I'm really glad you enjoyed the video ♥️

    • @milktea543

      @@RetroGeekCrafts Nah, no worries! The auto did a fine job on these, I think, since the intros were so short and clear. the auto captions generally only have issues with much longer voiced videos and with harder accents. You might be able to see if you can take the auto and tweak them though, but I have no experience with those. Regardless, nah, just go forward. I wouldn’t worry about the older videos.

      Closed captioning takes a lot of time and so many TH-camrs don't have the time to edit and also caption. I used to work for a company called "rev" that does a LOT of TH-cam captions but I don't know if it's contracted by the creator or what, and what it costs.

  • @meinhartfrancois

    I really liked the voice-over !
    + I didn't feel glued to my screen
    + you add some elements I'd never discovered before (think of the "glory pose" : I wasn't aware the poses had names beyond "one leg up pose" hahaha - those are details I'd like to hear more of).
    For the rest, very solid choices, as ever : great music, great pacing, lovely restoration (I was okay with the red hair, but I can see why you chose to replace it with the softer hue of the pink hair).
    PS : speaking about details a connaisseur might know... are you aware of any details about the cutie marks? Like, what do they mean, is there always a link with their names, are they copyright-protected, who came up with them, etc. That's also stuff that might be interesting to discuss

    • @RetroGeekCrafts
      @RetroGeekCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      Thank you so much for your wonderful message ☺️🥰 I'm really glad you enjoyed the video (and the format test). All the ponies had a story, they usually came written in the back of the cards. There was a little background info that also had to do the cutie mark (I have to confess I know very little of the cartoon, so I'm not sure if the stories were taken from there in any, some or all cases! The stories I know talk a lot about the personalities). This is something I'd love to investigate and include in future videos - along with your idea of the little note, which I haven't shown yet because I prerecorded these videos before going on a little holiday. Again thank you so much for your feedback, I always love reading your comments ☺️☺️

    • @meinhartfrancois
      @meinhartfrancois 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@RetroGeekCrafts I suppose the cartoon & the cards were part of the marketing, and as such, not tied directly into the toy itself. That would perhaps explain why there are different versions of the same pony.
      I'm very curious to see what you'll write on your note

    I looooove the hair color choice! She’s like a cotton candy dream- reminds me of sunset when there are some pink clouds and stars are coming out too!
    And I really like the voiceover and subtitles! The voice over I think keeps me engaged since sometimes the music can feel repetitive C:

    • @RetroGeekCrafts
      @RetroGeekCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I love that comparison!! 🥰☺️ I agree with the music becoming repetitive, it's also really hard to pick so many songs because the TH-cam library is not that big. But I hope to keep polishing the style :) Thank you for your comment!

    I liked the voice over, it made me relax and enjoy the custom without feeling like i'm about to fall asleep(i have ADHD, TDAH en español, which means my brain is really hiperactive sometimes so i can relax or get bored very easily and experience a fake "sleepy" state without things following my bee-full-brain), so, to me, it's a plus, something positive.
    Also am i the only who saw her hair and body colour and thought of Star Catcher from G3 movies?
    I love her, she's my favorite pony of all G3, so the similarity makes me feel happy and joy when looking at this sorta "custom" moondancer.

    Just found your channel. I restore Breyer models (to an extent) and am wondering if the peroxide cream would work on their cellulose acetate like it works on MLP vinyl. We "sunbathe" yellowed Breyers, lying them on a towel in a sunny place, to brighten them back up... Looks like I'm going to be making a uv box - I think that's genius!

    • @RetroGeekCrafts
      @RetroGeekCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried restoring a Breyer model but from my experience doing other toys, I feel it should work well! I'm not sure what the material is. I have done Polly pockets and Star Wars figures (both made of hard plastic) and it worked great, however you have to be careful with any painted areas. I know GI Joe figures can fade with peroxide. I think it depends on the type of paint. I would cover the painted areas with paper tape or tempera paint, just in case! If you check the channel's history there is a video on how to make s UV box, it might help! ☺️☺️

      @@RetroGeekCrafts Thanks a bunch! We often use a bleach-water mix soaked into paper towels and placed on stained areas, but fading can be an issue there, too. For age-yellowing, we use painter's tape (aka masking tape) to protect pink areas, which uv will fade. Your techniques are great, and we have MLP fans at our business, too... As for the voice over, I really liked it. You've got a combo going with the voice over, captions (which is greatly appreciated), music, and audio from the project. I don't know why but I find combinations like that cozy, kind of like when you're doing arts and crafts as a kid with your friends, and that's the vibe I'm getting from yours =]

    Thank you so much for doing this. I have the US Moondancer (red and purple hair.) It was my first My Little Pony, and I've wanted to repair her for a long time. Her original cutie mark is with glitter paint, so I managed to order some (the moon is silver, the stars are red), and I'm a little nervous about trying to get the cutie mark to look just right. But I did find some great hair. Her tail fell out long ago, so it will be nice to replace that.
    I'll definitely be referencing this video as I work on fixing her up.

    I actually really enjoyed the voice-over, specially with some background facts such as the origin of the pony, the pose, etc (as some other person already pointed out).
    However, if doing voice-overs are too much trouble, I see no problem with mixing them with some others music-only videos! I honesly like both!

    hello again!! i need a little bit of help.. so when i was around 8-9 i drew on my ponies thinking i was "cool" but unfortunately i was trying to get the drawings off, and they would not come off!! i tried nail polish remover, dish soap, almost anything i could get my hands on without damaging the pony!! and even worse, i scribbled with pen on the eyes and cutie mark, and now they have a purple tint!! also very sorry if i ask you for almost all my pony problems, you just give very good advice

    • @RetroGeekCrafts
      @RetroGeekCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no, I'm so sorry you've been struggling to remove the marks! Unfortunately, pen can be really tough to remove. There are two options you can try: 1) leave the pony in the sun for a looong time. This might fade the marks. 2) do the same but apply hydrogen peroxide (hair salon cream), changing it every day's if you live in lace without much sun, you can use UV light. You can find a video in the channel for making your own using led light strips. It will take a while, weeks or even months, but it can come out! Good luck!!

    • @infinitemirr0r
      @infinitemirr0r 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RetroGeekCrafts thank you for that!! one of the ponies has a weird black thing from a glass painting set, and one has highlighter marks, and these also didnt come off with acetone. would i also have to use uv lights for these or is there some kindof pony magic spell to make them disappear??? thanks again!!

    I don't paint for restoration, but I do sometimes paint my clay sculptures. For some reason I'm bad at keeping paint from bleeding into the wrong areas UNLESS I'm painting small details like the eyes. It makes no sense. I'm really good at painting tiny details but if I want one large part to be white and another to be red I struggle where they meet.

    • @RetroGeekCrafts
      @RetroGeekCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The same happens to me. I think my brain gets ready for the tiny detail and relaxes too much when doing the larger areas. Ending up in horrible messes :P

    Definitely keep the voice over! With subtitles of course!
    I do wanna say that sometimes the bg music is too loud and distracting, especially with the sounds from the video. I suggest either turning down the volume or not using any bg at all, as if it was sorta like an ASMR. And not related to the video but the way you divide the video with timers in the description is also something really amazing that people should do more often
    Otherwise keep doing what you're doing! You're great!

    • @RetroGeekCrafts
