- This video took me a few months to complete. One of my most challenging restorations, I had to apply peroxide cream and leave the poor MLP G1 Glory under UV light for WEEKS. The result is not 100% perfect but I had to make space for other ponies in the UV chamber and progress was getting slower by the day (sort of like an approaching 0 but never reaching it situation). So the pony is not entirely white but I can always give it more exposure when I have the opportunity :)

Awww Glory. My favorite of all the ponies. I lost mine years ago when I moved but I was able to find a new one at a flea market. Cost me $5.00 but she was worth it 😄💕

Haha yes. I have a few ponies undergoing treatment. They look at me with those big cute eyes and I constantly feel pressured to work on them 😅 Some sea ponies have actually been in the UV chamber for 4 months!

What a difference she's so pretty! I know you can get ink of clothes with neat milk. I don't know if it would work on the ponies but it might be worth a try.

That's the exact one I have but she's in storage and so is the baby one. I know I mentioned having a pony that needed help but I had forgotten her name but not her mark.
Seeing this video reminded me about mine who is missing her tail as well and I believe that baby ended up with a short mane because someone else put gunk in her mane, couldn't get it out so it was cut short.
I miss them so much.
I hope you can find your ponies! The short mane is difficult to repair (it would probably need a full rehair, although lots of peope like ponies with a bob!). The tail is a little eaier.

Sobre el proceso, pues el pobre estaba muy sucio, su pelo tan reseco que se quebraba sólo con tocarlo, y tenía esos molestos puntos negros en las patas y las orejas. Ahora ya está limpio, con el pelo hidratado (¡Al menos ya no se rompe!), removí los puntos negros y sólo queda blanquearlo (Pero no hace nada de Sol desde hace semanas)

Hi, love your videos and you do such a good job restoring the ponies! I also have a childhood pony that I want to clean somewhat restore myself. Thank god it does not have many marks or discoloration, so I think that soap and a little bit of oxi clean should suffice. However I wanted to ask if the oxi will affect the hair at all. My pony's hair is very frizzed but I want to keep it and am a bit scared that the oxi could bleach the hair if I let pony soak. Any advice would be appreciated. 🥰
For those pen marks you can lighlty scratch they with a super fine sandpaper before the peroxide treatment: it's a lot faster!

Una recomendación para las manchas de bolígrafo en ponis o muñecas de goma en general. Crema para el acné a base de peróxido de benzoilo. Lo aplicas sobre la marca y le das luz UV ( yo lo puse al sol y también funciona). Actúa más rápido de la crema de peróxido de peluquería.

Amo los MLP! Conservo dos de mi infancia (allá por los 80) en bastante buen estado,aunque jugué muchisimo con ellos y uno de ellos, Sparkler, me ha acompañado todas partes.
MUCHO CUIDADO!! La crema de acné solo funciona para muñecas (tipo Barbie, que usan otro tipo de plástico) o ponies blancos que no tengan contacto con otros de colores. Este tipo de crema de benzoil (no peróxido) entra en los poros del vinilo, donde se queda blanqueando y produce manchas que no pueden quitarse más. Perdón que "ataque" tu sugerencia, aprecio muchísimo tu comentario!!! Solo quiero aclarar que aunque en principio funciona (la formula es muy popular en el mundo de restauracion y customs de muñecas) arruina los ponis de color.

Recently came across your channel and love watching! I have a question. Does the blush on their cheeks come off during the UV bleaching process? And why do you not re-blush them? :)
I'm so glad you do ☺️ The blush shouldn't come out because I think they use the same paint as the eyes. To be honest, I usually forget to re-add it!! I will make a video showing that soon!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and for helping them! Is it possible to leave the salon 30 cream on there too long? Will it damage them? Also, does it harm their eyes, because I would assume that it does. If so, how do you work around the eyes and symbols?
Thank you so much for watching! 😊 You can use vol 30, it will just take a little longer to take effect. I try to not put the cream on top of the eyes or symbols. It's generally safe but it depends where the pony was made and which paint they used. Sometimes, some paint can fade. It's best if you cover them with some paper tape or tempera paint.

I am curious, what do you do with all of these ponies after restoration? Do you sell them or keep them for yourself?
I mostly keep them or give them away to kids. I'm planning on auctioning them and donating the proceedings, I'll explain more in a video soon :)

You us tempera paint to cover the eyes so they don’t fade in the UV light box? Does it wash right off after it’s dried with water?
I use tempera paint most of the time (because paper tape leaves a sticky residue). It comes off more easily than acrylic but you have to be a little careful not to scratch the original paint below. Hong Kong and China ponies are fine, but foreign ones sometimes have weaker paint 😊
Probaste el peróxido de benzoilo para las manchas de tinta? Lo podés buscar como crema para el acné, y se utiliza como el agua oxigenada en crema, sol o luz uv. Solo que el resultado es inmediato (No demora más de dos días en eliminar la mancha por completo por lo general). Sé que funciona en muñecas, en ponys habría que probar
Cuidado!! El benzoilo no puede usarse JAMAS en ponis de color. Destiñen durante años, pasando el daño a otros ponis. Solo sirve para muñecas.
Interesting, in this video unlike others, I see this tail still has it's metal washer? Was this ever changed, or why was it fine in this case.
The metal washer is the original topper they used for the tail. If it's missing, it normally means the pony has been repaired (but this might not always be the case, I'm not 100% sure!)
Can you please clarify UV type used? Spectrum of UV used matters a lot. Maybe UV wavelength in nm's, or UV lamp type (UV LEDs, UVA Wood lamp, UVB/UVC mercury lamp)?
You should have done a reroot on this pony because it had short hair and tail
Se que este video es de marzo, y no sé si sepas, pero puedes remover manchas de bolígrafo muy facilmente del vinyl con crema para acné! solo asegúrate que el componente sea benzoyl peroxide (peróxido de benzoílo) al 10%. al 5% funciona también, pero tarda mucho más! restauro barbies y créeme, es un regalo del cielo. El proceso es el mismo, lo aplicas, lo cubres en papel plástico (el de comida), y lo expones al sol (o a luces led, en ambos casos me ha funcionado) directamente por un par de horas. Las quita en máximo 3 días, no importa que tan difícil sea! espero te ayude!
Muchas gracias por el tip. El problema con benzoyl es que solo se puede usar en vinilo blanco. Si el pony es de color, el benzoyl de queda metido en los poros y deja manchas blancas que no pueden sacarse más. También puede pasarse de un pony a otro por contacto, por lo que en estos juguetes se usa solo peróxido de hidrógeno ☺️

would painting over the stubborn pen marks also work? or is there a reason you don't do that
It would work! But I always try to keep as much of the original toy as possible. Peroxide and UV is a time consuming process but it works with almost any marks (this one took a few weeks to fade, some only need 24 hours). The paint always looks a little off, you can usually tell it's not vinyl. If the marks are superficial, you can also sandpaper it. It's a really "noble" material lol ☺️☺️

This only happens with benzoil peroxide, she uses hydrogen peroxide

As WoffyDoggy mentioned, the bleaching will only happen if you use zit cream, which contains a different type of peroxide (called benzoyl). HOWEVER, I've had bleaching happen with hydrogen peroxide on hard flat plastics. In particular, a gameboy case. Where the cream accumulates, it can blotch lighter than expected. This, so far, hasn't been the case for vinyl. So I'd say it's safe for MLP but if you want to "retrobright" other plastics you might use liquid peroxide instead and submerge them so you get equal coverage :)

is there a way that i can clean permanent marker off of a vinyl pony?
Hmmm it's really tough, but possible. You wil need hydrogen peroxide and either sunlight or UV light and A LOT of patience. It can take weeks and sometimes months but they do come off! Good luck!! 😊😊

Depende del tipo de "daño". Este pony, con marcas de lapicera, llevó como un mes de exposición. Pero la mayoría de las veces sólo lleva dos o tres días. Lo más difícil son las marcas tipo resaltador rosado, esas llevan semanas.
PS, you can remove pen marks with hand sanitizer!
With alcohol? Any particular brand? I tried it on another pony but I didn't see a difference. Blue pen?

Why you dont brush hair from the tips.
This pony's hair was already untangled so it was just a quick comb to make sure there were no extra knots. If the hair had been in worse condition I would have definitely started from the tips :)
