The ending is still crazy to this day

This song is probably one of the greatest technical metal songs ever composed (along with the other incredible epics on this album).

2/5 DT Songs ? what a blessing, i'm already excited for the next one !

I’m guessing that you guys will enjoy the next song a bit more than this one but one of the reasons why I picked these songs was also to show you the evolution of the band. Each song goes a little bit further in showcasing their skills as musicians. Repentance might actually get you into the feels too

As a massive DT fan, i just wanna say I really respect you guys for giving your uncensored feelings on these songs!
Frankly, DT fans can be overbearing with how much they love ths band, and are awful at hearing contrary opinions about them. I say that despite this band igniting my passion for music and being my #1 band overall.
I agree with lots of your guy's thoughts on this song in particular as well. While I love The Glass Prison, this song always felt like a weak follow up, and the ending on particular always got to me. I personally think the next song in the suite, The Root of All Evil, is the best part (not just because it's the shortest lol).
The 12 Step Suite overall is not a good introduction to DT in my opinion. The only thing it shows is that these guys are virtuosic at their craft, which no one can deny. In terms of actual song enjoyment, only the third song is one I regularly come back to.
Hopefully people don't get too offended by the comments you guys made, because they're not invalid. DT isn't perfect, but once you find the right songs, hopefully something will "click" for you guys like it did for me.
(Here are some recommendations of songs I recommend)
    - Stream of Consciousness (11 minute instrumental, and one of my absolute favorite songs)
    - Blind Faith (10 minute song that really showcases the keyboardist's skills and an amazing vocal performance)
    - Metropolis Part 2 (a whole album meant to be one drawn out story. This was my introduction to DT, and the first few songs are what made me "click" into the band. The whole album is still my #1 favorite)
    - Panic Attack (8 minute heavy ass song. It's one of their most popular for a reason in my opinion. The last minute of the song leads into the next on the album, so it may be confusing.)

I personally love Glass Prison, Root of All Evil, and The Shattered Fortress a lot which is why I picked the 12 Step Suite. I also tossed in Home for the 6th song because of its unique sound. This was also a kind of punishment for them failing a music challenge. The Bois would actually probably love a lot of their slower songs such as Another Day, The Answer Lies Within, Hollow Years etc. I mostly just was super excited about Portnoy returning and seeing as how this was his baby I wanted to send it.

Also I dig your song suggestions personally but Stream of Consciousness would drive them crazy because they enjoy lyrics, and Panic Attack would probably give Chuck an actual panic attack lol

@@rineran Ah, I didn't realize you were the one who recommended it to them. I'm assuming you've been a follower for a while, so that'd make sense. I only just discovered the channel through the DT reactions, so I don't really know their taste in music.
I recommended Stream of Consciousness because of the comment one of them made for The Glass Prison vocals, and Panic Attack because I thought it was a much more concise and less "all over the place" type of DT song.
Now that you mention their ballads (I love DT ballads myself) and Portnoy rejoining the band, I'm surprised you wouldn't recommend The Best of Times, or even A Change of Seasons. Those are two of the most emotional Portnoy songs, and the latter of which is arguably one of their best.

@@magnumopus5406 I have my reasons. Planning on doing those in September as they are close to my heart for very specific reasons.
