That last note in this song leaves you hanging on purpose. The final grand epic on this album fully resolves that last note in VERY INCREDIBLE fashion. It's the final note of the OCTAVE. Thus, Octavarium!!!

There’s a reason why the album is called Octavarium. It’s too long to go into so I would Google it. You’ll be fascinated.

I'm glad to hear you guys enjoyed this song! This is one of my favorite DT songs, specifically for that chorus. This song is what made by buy the sheet music for the whole album, and I still remember how to play the chorus on the keyboard, even without practicing for years now.
For the issues with the intro, this is the first song on the album, and DT has a habit of making each album one "experience", even if it's not a concept album. Also, if my ear is right, the drums and guitar are playing the ending riff of This Dying Soul, the previous song in the suite, to act as buildup. I don't blame ya for not liking the ambient buildup, but just so you know, the guys in DT are all fans of Pink Floyd AND Metallica. You'll be seeing more of it haha
For the vocals, that's probably been the most divisive thing in the band's whole history. Some people love the vocals, some hate them. Some love the different effects, some only want the cleans. Personally, I'm a huge fan of all of it, but I do get why some people don't like it.
Im assuming you guys are going through the rest of the 12 Step Suite, so I do hope you guys enjoy it. I'm curious to see what ofter songs, if any, you'll be hearing after you're done with these 5. Hope you guys enjoy the experience!

Thanks as always guys! Side note - this is the only channel I will never recommend the song Octavarium to. I think the intro would be their least favorite thing of all time!!

You spelled it right. It’s short for my handle which is apparently difficult to pronounce 🤣

You have to admit that Dream Theater tends to stimulate thought provoking conversations with you Bois. Perhaps the mind bending instrumental sections get those gears turning in your brain boxes.

I have to give Joel the cell this time just for wearing a Ballyhoo! shirt. 😂

The guitar player John Petrucci plays a Musicman guitar, so "Musicmanship" might actually work in this case 😜

Chuck gives me a Monty Mole (from Super Mario) vibe, which is a compliment btw I really like Monty Mole

I love how you guys were waiting for that ending note to resolve the melody haha.. They ended the song a suspended note on purpose because it's a "circular album" in a way, really fun song and awesome reaction as usual my guys!

Forgot about that Celly. Chuck gets this one for seeing past the long intro and the mind rebooting. It’s so nice to see you Bois expanding your music tastes. By the way Bois this song not only has riffs from the previous two songs but also includes lyrics from both songs.

Also, I don’t know if you figured it out, but all five songs have recurring themes

They probably don't know that the 5 songs are part of the Twelve Step Suite

My brother had me learn it for his band and I can tell you the effort I put in to learning that solo on the keyboard to in honesty impress my brother for his gig with his band ......I'm so pleased I did that ❤❤ love the reactions keep up the great work
