The manufacturer can refuse to honor the warranty if your mods may have caused the failure. For example, if you put a tune on the car and the engine fails due to a bearing failure they can refuse to fix it. However, in this case I doubt the tune would have caused that. The Magnuson-Moss warranty act prevents manufacturers from refusing warranty service unless they can prove the modification caused the failure. The catch is, to get them to fix it you would have to take them to court and prove your modification didn't cause the failure. Do you see how difficult this would be?
Love your videos, quick question I just bought a 2022 Chevy Tahoe, do you think adding a Borla S-Type Cat Back system will void my engine/power train warranty?
About time some one tried to get rid of some of the confusion about this. I knew in "most cases" the mod has to cause the damage in order to deny the claim. When I took my SS in because it was going into limp mode they asked about the mods. I was like uh oh. Here we go. But nope. They took their time and looked the car over (three days worth) , provided me with a loaner and found the problem in the wiring in the throttle body . Which had not been modded or changed. Ever. But then you get something like the cracked dash thing and oh no. Not touching that one no matter how many BBB complaints we get. So it is kinda hit and miss depending on which dealer you go to. Thanks for the video and research
I work at a dealership and i get a bunch of mustangs ecoboost mustangs f150 st focus etc. All these kids modding them and putting tunes and forget to reset the computer i can tell when its been modded. I had a guy blow up a focus st had a hole in the block the pcm was locked up meaning its been tuned so before u go to the dealer for warranty make sure its 100% stock
You do know that the ecu keeps a log of every time a new tune is flashed... it will be pretty obvious to any dealership that it's tuned by seeing logs of tunes that occurred on dates that the car wasn't at a dealership
Adding to what TehZured said, when i want to start a warranty claim on a engine at the dealer i work for, the first thing we are required to do is send in ECM calibrations to ensure the vehicle is stock now and has been stock since initial purchase. You can't fake that and we've declined customers in the past for any type of ECM tune.
@@camaroguy9151 well thats illegal so I doubt it. You have to prove the tune caused the issue. You cannot vacate a warranty just because you suspect a tune was used as you have no idea what values were changed.
Even know you're a Chevy guy and I'm a Ford guy, we can find common ground on the American flag. I also appreciate all the good things you say about law enforcement as I've been a police officer for 11 years. Please give your son a big thanks from me for serving our country!
I had a Chrysler car once under warranty, had a problem, car was in dealership 4 times, they couldn't fix it, they replaced computer, all upper end engine gaskets and a few other things, I knew what the problem was, they wouldn't listen. After a month of back and forth, I found email to VP of chysler, wrote a letter describing everything and all that was done and I told them I was a 3rd generation Chrysler owner. Got a phone call from dealership with in an hour of sending it, they beg me to bring it in so they could take care of it and finally got it fixed and it was exactly as I told them. So squeaky wheel does get to job done, lol.
In CA, you don't have to keep receipts for parts. A judge ruled that written records are sufficient and the consumer is not to be presumed guilty of voiding the warranty.
I could see back when they were throwing pot metal junk like the 4L60E in cars being worried about Active Torque Management mods being a warranty concern, but with the 8L90E? The reason you'd turn ATM off is for a shift kit back in the day because the PCM would pull timing figuring something was broken. If that changed something in the 8 speed w/o other mods? They were asking for it to be done but you didn't use "approved" software where it would be invisible in every block of the actual computer map. Certain builders claim to have the abilities to not void the warranty after multiple mods, so that is my consensus. Anybody else ever tune a Buick Grand National with a Scanmaster to get the Block Learning and Integrator to show 128? You kids and your new fangled toys. If GM is really watching your page, let me just say that we want an AWD car that has a manual transmission and some balls. Plus, you shouldn't have axed Pontiac.
CANBUS - look it up there are algorithms that know that code has changed and leave tell tales just like that. All the systems from the gage's to the tire pressure sensors all see the same code that runs the engine. And yes I was born in the 50's but know way too much about cars.
As noted the software will be different as well as the PCM has a counter of how many times it was flashed. With today’s engine management systems at best you may make a small amount of additional power until the system compensates. Once the system is has reached a set percentage of power the system will stop trying to make additional power. It will also back off if the threshold is exceeded. You will need a tune to make power with parts. If you look up how torque based power management works you will see all of this.
Those points are very valid, but some of them depend on the manufacturer, and I at the very least learned something from these comments. Thank you for the input, and I am in no way a Master Tech that went to trade school or anything. Just another wrench that is not afraid to tackle things that I should not understand and most would pay somebody else for. I like to read and that helps when not skipping details. Seems I found others of the same ilk- Cheers
The Fiasco Garage Even the toughest autos sold today need *some* torque management. Especially with modern clutch to clutch shifting. Remove all the TM from a 6L80 and take the vehicle for a spin. You'll regret it when it slams into each gear like you just got rear ended.
I'm quite fascinated with all the stuff going berserk in almost new cars. Just out of the blue, something fails. Thought we learned how to make stuff last from all those decades making cars but we still end up with open deck engine blocks which eat gaskets, radios freezing and failing and even non weather pack connectors in humid places around the car.
Hold on Mike. I’m at the point where you’re talking about doing a header back exhaust. That WILL NOT void the power train warranty, but it will void the emissions warranty, if GM has one, and will also make the car not street legal. You can’t touch the cats, for I believe 10 years, unless they’re damaged. That’s an no-no, and SEMA will not back you up if you mess with emissions equipment. Now, I’m not saying not to do it. I ran my 335GT catless for 2 years, and if I could get a downpipe, I’d do the same with my X3. Just know what you’re getting into.
Your one hell of a guy. Caring and honest. I wish you the best and hope you make triple your income this year . You deserve it for being the person you are .
simple answer? YES!!!!!! And yes it is super easy to prove that the certain mods damaged the vehicle. Not doing proper maintenance will also void a warranty. I personally know people who have had their warranty denied do to mods as well as improper maintenance.
I went through this with dodge on my modified srt4. A warranty can not be voided entirely, but the parts you replaced , will not be covered. And the dealership has to prove that your "intake" or whatever is why the engine blew up.
You've changed the topic so many times from Camaro to ZR1 to dealership to your bringing a guest that I don't even remember what I started looking for to begin with so now what do I do now I don't even know what I'm looking for thanks
I worked at a Cadillac/Hummer dealer. Customer purchased a brand new H2 from us. A few months later, his H2 came in on the hook because he had no drive. Tech opens the hood and sees a shiny BLOWER on the engine. Tech determined the added power of the supercharger ruined the transmission. Service writer looks in the records to see when/where it was installed. NOTHING. S/A calls the customer to ask where the supercharger was installed. It was done by a nationally known 4x4 company. That company wasn't a GM authorized shop. Because the supercharger was installed by a non-certified shop and not at the dealer, the warranty was voided and the owner would have to pay to have the transmission replaced. We (the dealership) sold and installed superchargers on H2s and would not void the warranty. CUSTOMER WAS NOT HAPPY because he didn't know the addition of the supercharger by a non-authorized shop voids the warranty.
I have a good topic... how can you prevent getting hosed by a service writer? I have heard ( and seen myself) a customer get their bill and the labor time was adjusted WAY above book time. So how can the average person know when this is happening?
Love these videos. Our Chevy dealership in Mount Horeb WI is the exact reason why I ended up going with my Ford Mustang. Our Chevy dealership had a very lackluster environment which is completely different from your dealership
The problem with the computer in your car is why I have been and will continue to be old school with my cars. I'd rather save about 30k buy an older vehicle that I want and have it restored. I've been a computer tech for almost 20 years and having a computer control things in my car besides the basic system that uses OBD2 seems foolish, IMO.
You can replace with stock before going in unless you tune. According to federal laws the individual is protected but your against gm and their lawyers. So good luck 🍀
OnlineCarShow the law is the law so it doesn’t matter how much money or how many lawyers they have once it’s in a real court room and you have a ..Legit...case the judge shouldn’t really take to long to deliberate a verdict from what I’ve seen. For the same reason they have big lawyers and tons of money they in reality don’t fight over petty warranty claims or they would be up to their neck in court hearings. For the most part the highest your issues and stress will go is you having to complain to a few managers maybe owners for a while and have a good non bullshit reason for why. Maybe send a legal letter over and have proper knowledge of your legitimate problem that you believe isn’t a “warranty voiding” situation for lack of better grammar. Remember I’m speaking for the people who have a real legitimate issue they believe should be under warranty and for some petty reason isn’t.
I think what he meant was, as the 'little guy' even getting TO the courtroom against that sort of money is hard. And most of us don't have the resources to push that fight. Even a legit case, if GM or Ford or whoever decides to fight it, you're gonna get drowned in legal shenanigans that will cost you money to have a lawyer respond to. This is how so many lawsuits that SHOULD see a courtroom end up in a deal, because the plaintiff can't really afford the fight, and the defendant knows it. So they can make a lowball offer, and more often than not get off without paying what they should.
Hey, I own a 2019 Elantra GT N - Line with the turbo 4cyl 1.6l... I installed an aftermarket CAI, did the factory BPV to BOV swap, changed the turbocharger hot pipe & added a cat-back exhaust. I'm planning to do a catless downpipe & tune the summer. (I'm getting a spare ECU to tune, so I don't flash over the factory tune.) Would any of this affect my warranty if my car went in for service only? I don't do service myself, and I always use synthetic oil and change it rather early, every 3,000kms....mainly because of my driving habits... :D and I just so happen to know everyone in the service department at my dealership, I did my apprenticeship there a year ago. Eventually, I'm planning to run around ~300 to 320whp and anything more than that I'd start reaching limitations on the clutch and axles, the factory engine can handle a little over 400whp before it needs bottom-end upgrades and an upgraded turbo. But that won't come until I pass the 100k powertrain warranty.
Ok, 16yr GM tech here. Also owner of 2018 SS camaro. Gm backs the camaro ss/zl1 for performance/race driving. As well as all the vette lines. As long as you have your cats and you do not have modified calibrations in ecm/tcm you're good.
Basics of the Magnuson-Moss Act The Magnuson-Moss Act doesn't require manufacturers or sellers of consumer products to provide written warranties. Instead, the Act requires manufacturers and sellers who do offer written warranties to clearly disclose and describe the terms of those warranties. The Act applies only to products and not to warranties on services. Additionally, the Act covers only warranties on consumer products. In other words, it doesn't apply to warranties on products sold for resale or for commercial purposes. With some exceptions, only warranties on tangible property generally used for personal, family, or household purposes are covered. Requirements of the Magnuson-Moss Act The Magnuson-Moss Act specifies a number of requirements that warrantors must meet. In addition, Congress directed the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to adopt rules to cover other requirements. The Act and the FTC Rules provide three basic requirements that apply to either warrantors or sellers: Warrantors must designate or title a written warranty as either "full" or "limited". Warrantors must state certain information about the coverage of the warranty in a single, clear, and easily readable document. Warrantors or sellers must ensure that warranty is available where the warranted consumer product is sold so consumers can read the warranty before buying.
Please do a video about GM Genuine Parts upgrades/mods that from what I’ve read do not void warranty. I have a new Trail Boss that I really want to put a CAI and Borla cat back exhaust on, both are GM Genuine Parts.
I have recently started watching your content and I think it is great. I also have a '14 Silverado and I am a Marine so Semper Fidelis to you and your son.
My 2016 Camaro did the same thing with the infotainment (at 3 minute-ish) and the dealer looked at me crazy. It took the screen going out for them to believe me. Man I wished I had this video back in December of 2016. Yet I found one from March 2018.
It’s a GM product what do you expect. It’s a warning sign letting you know GM is getting ready to close plants, lay off workers, and give bonus checks to the executives
Dam good advice👍 It is even somewhat relevant to people like myself that are outside the USA, OUR regulatory body's are the Australian consumer commission, Dept of fair trade and the motor traders association.. but our basic motor vehicle warranty is quite similar in that modifying is allowed so long as the modification is legal, road worthy and did not cause the issue. We also have some additional statutory rights under Australian consumer law. Great information, we could use some passionate sales folk, who are not interisted only in the sale in front of them, but are willing to go the extra mile to create a longstanding, trusting relationship with their customers though, (at least in my hometown) 👍👍👍🇦🇺
So, aftermarket here meaning not factory... Let's say I want to put an upgraded exhaust on the car at the dealership or suspension or intake, whichever. Is that dealership required to only sell and install from the manufacturer or are there manufacturer approved parts that would be treated as factory condition?
I was told that if u buy the parts from the dealer its covered thats what a sales rep.said at Chevy but i would perfer to ask the service n parts dept. Sales rep dont know shyt...
Just FYI, the Magnassun Moss act is for warranties, but "Service Agreements" (as I found out) are not considered warranties. I found this out the hard way. Luckily, I was able to get my money back for the service agreement, but it left me unable to get work done that would have been covered in an actual warranty. So, make sure you know exactly what thing you're paying for.
Educational.. Once again, I can use this for reference just like the "Buying a Car tips," Vlogs you produced. ThanX so much.. Stay safe, Have fun.........
My GM dealer has told me as long as they do the work, the warranty is just fine. That way they know if anything was done wrong they know what was done to it
With you having said if you go to another shop to service your vehicle and it won’t void your warranty, does that also hold true if you service your own vehicle in your own garage or driveway provided you didn’t contribute to the problem when you serviced your own vehicle?
#1. I was at my local Chevy dealership getting my truck service and I was looking at the new GM trucks and I've mentioned about putting a leveling kit on the truck and he said it will void my warranty. I told him about the warranty acted and he said I was wrong. #2. Dealer won't touch it even the service advisor knows that I'm not the only person that has the problem. Contacted GM and nothing they will do. Have you seen or heard anything about the rims peeling?
Concerning the lemon law and used cars - that's not true (15:27). My wife bought a 2012 Kia Soul in May of 2016. Within 12 months, it was in for service 17 times (for the same problem) for around 47 days total for that year. In December of 2017 we filed a case against Kia and won - settling out of court for $11,500 (the purchase amount). Before the settlement was reached, they finally replaced the motor, but we didn't call off the case. If you buy ANY car with ANY warranty, factory or dealership, you are covered by the lemon law (provided that the warranty covered said issue, the issue wasn't from misuse of the vehicle, etc.). The warranty is a promise from the manufacture/dealership that they will make good on any issues that arise and that are covered by said warranty. New car, used car...doesn't matter. If you take your car in for the same warranty work x-amount of times and the problem still isn't fixed, call an attorney. If you're coming up to the end of your warranty and you take your car in service and get warranty repair (say they had to fix the transmission, for example), but now, six months down the road, the transmission starts acting up again but you're now out of warranty, take it back in. Unfortunately, depending on how nice your dealership is makes or breaks who pays for THAT repair, and you might have to wash, rinse, repeat, but since the FIRST service was done under warranty, you could still have a claim. PS - All consumer law attorneys will take your case for free (if they deem it's a legit case to be able to file). You don't pay them out-of-pocket, but depending on the case and judgment (if it goes to trial), the attorney gets paid from the awarded amount or gets their fees covered separately by the manufacturer. So, if an attorney DOES take your case, they're going to go through hell and high water to make sure they win because that's the only way they're getting paid. Side note - Our attorney even went as far as hunting down the previous (original) owner of the vehicle and getting them to sign on as a witness to the case. This car was in service 22 times with the original owner FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AS WE WERE HAVING (and this wasn't disclosed to us when we purchased the car and was told the car was great and had no issues when we bought it - we tried suing the dealership, but couldn't due to the paperwork we signed upon purchase basically freeing them from liability). As Mike always seems to point out, there's tons of free information out there on the internet, you just need to do your homework ahead of time.
Would putting a snow plow on a Silverado 2500HD WT with plow prep package void the warranty on the truck? The dealer I purchased the truck from wasn't sure.
Mike you look very uncomfortable 😣 sitting like that on the truck man. Drop the tailgate and sit in it lol. And remember ANDY destroyed your warranty on the SS man!! 😂 lol. Good information for most ppl. Bc most don't know about warranty.
i took my car to my Chevy certified dealer (amsterdam NY) and my car is certified used, i hear a little clunk in my suspension but they said i have to pay for my diagnosis if they dont find nothing wrong, i was very disappointed because i feel like they are gonna just say nothing is wrong just so they dont have to replace anything and still charge me for the diagnosis ... smh chevy dealers have horrible service
One thing I would add to this is if you're in the market to buy Camaro or Corvette instead of bothering with mods just get the ZL1 Camaro or the ZR1 Corvette you don't have to bother with any mods. These cars are already incredibly fast enough and are already modded the way you would without the go-fast goodies packages. Yes they're more money but you're still going to pay the same amount of money buy modding the cars Plus you risk voiding the warranty. Plus resale value. Just intelligence Guided by experience.
Sooo I want to buy a axle back flowmaster outlaw exhaust and dude at the dealership said the warranty should be fine if it does void anything it will just void the exhaust... I don't wanna put it on and get screwed...
Purchased a 2020 Silverado Custom. Added a 6" RC lift... had the truck for about five weeks now. The abs lights turned on after 1000 miles. took it to the dealership and they said they cannot even check it out because it's lifted. Any advice on what can I do. They did not provide anything in writing though, the service manager told me she could not even diagnose the issue without a 150 dollar charge.
this just lets me know my dealership from 3 weeks ago was not very honest with me... i asked point blank what mods can i do and not void my warranty... they said and i quote "as long as it is Mopar parts it wont void my warranty" thanks for allowing me to spend 500$ on a CAI that actually is worse for my car then factory...
I think the problem would be when things aren't s black and white. If you install a new exhaust and the car has a miss at idle. Potentially, it could be the exhaust but it could also be electronics, plugs etc. So, would the dealer have to prove it, or is their word good enough?
Very good topic. Here is the deal, in the operational manual global warranty management aftermarket parts will indefinitely void your warranty. The covered powertrain warranty covers alot of parts that if they want they can block the warranty claim.Under no circumstances cpo used cars are in fact non elegible to be certified by manufacturers .If the vehicle in question deosnt have a ac delco oil filter but a fram instead the car cannot be certified even pinstripes can make it non certified. This video is very helpful and educational but the fact remains you alter or do any modifications will void your warranty per se via global operational warranty manual.
EMERSON GRALIA yyyeeeeeaaaahhhhhh... Totally not intended use of the vehicle lol. I bet every ither Jeep commercial out there is featured off road, and then they pull something like that. They were playing with fire when they pulled that. GM has a few more brain cells apparently because if you get a ZL1 1LE, I believe you're covered even under track day use. It is an intended use of the vehicle. I remember the first Nissan GTR. Absolute monster with launch control but if you use it once, warranty voided. WTF? Never sat well with me when they make a car that's great at something but if you try it once they'll basically throw you some birds and tell you to have a nice life or pay up.
Mike, I am 6'4" and partially paralyzed. I want either a Vette or Camaro, with the automatic unfortunately. Will both be good for my height? I want hard top because I know convertibles are shorter inside. (my boss had a 2015 rag top stingray and I couldn't sit in the passenger side.) I hate going to dealerships just to "window shop" and try to size up cars. When the teacher comes I will buy from a dealership a ways away from Florida, so I can make a bucket list road trip out of buying my car! I can't wait.
Douglas Hamner These newer models get smaller and smaller. Maybe an Audi or Jag f-type for me, can be 6'7" and still get in those..... Wanted new tho. Oh well, thanks for the help.
I have a 2018 eco boost mustang. I am getting conflicted answers about adding a cat back exhuast. Service manager said ford was denying transmission warranty work due to after market exhuast.
@@ChevyDude Copy that, I didn't think that anything beyond the CATS is basically useless. The engine and transmission ect should not be voided. Here is the catch, he said that any mod they can deny anything not them "ford corporate" has denied them to do work because of it. It really is pissing me off. So now I have to keep old exhuast in storage if something happens I need to re install stock. No way around it. Shame on big corporations for doing this to car guys. I guess alas there big buinsess is mainly the average consumer car.
Brought my VW in for a warranty claim a month after purchasing it and they tried to tell me that due to the window tint they weren't sure if they were going to cover it.... certainly depends on the dealer
I wonder... If you swapped the transmission to same year/model outside of the dealership does that void my engines powertrain warranty or affect the engine oil consumption recall ? Its running perfectly, do I have disclose I swapped the transmission to the dealer? will they even know?
The radio in my 2018 Silverado is just as possessed as your Camaro. Do you know what the cause of it was? I’m gonna have to start looking at my warranty paperwork to see if this is covered. I have no idea what caused it to be possessed but it’s annoying as hell for my truck to randomly make calls to people.
I have a 19 c7 Z06 and having a gm cold air intake installed from the dealer. I never do this and it breaks my heart paying for something that I love to do myself. But heard that GM is horrible at honoring warranties. Also a catch can would be beneficial to my engine. But GM thinks differently
good dealers dont give a issue most the time now if u procharged the car and slung a rod then yeah its NOT gonna be covered nor should any jackass try to get over on a dealer but they do lol love this guys channel hes 100% str8 up
Improper use of a vehicle - a guy had the transmission fail in a big Lexus sedan after less than 2,000 miles. The service manager was checking in the car to repair under warranty, and did the walkaround to note any damage on the body. There were a pair of unusual scratches on the front bumper; he noted them and casually asked the customer if he knew what caused them. "Oh, yeah, that's where my snow plow clamps on." Oops.
DUDE!! your videos are awesome... you keep our attention the entire video, very entertaining and informative. thank you for this video, ive always asked people this specific question... can a tuned car be put back to stock? or will servicing always be able to notice?
Does what youre talking about apply to warranties from all dealerships? Or is this just the policy at YOUR dealership? Because my dealers service department is trying to tell me my warranty will be voided if i tune my honda.
My CPO vehicle has its factory warranty until 2020 and I bought a 1 year extended warranty. It seems like you're saying the dealer would have to prove, by law, that my intake and exhaust mods caused the potential issues on my car. BUT they could void the extended warranty without reason? So if I got the mods today, does that mean they could void my 2021 extended warranty or only if I got a ml of after 2021?
If I install a catless downpipe does that void my warranty or just the exhaust portion and what if I take the oem part and reinstall it before I take it in for whatever work is needed
I was kind a hoping you were going to tell us what was wrong or what was causing that clicking sound in your stereo system, plus I thought u were going to give a list of mods that would void your warranty. Good video
I took my as cobalt in for work once years ago when it barely had 20,000 miles on it. They Tried to say my completely stock car had an aftermarket Turbo on it... it was kicking into limp mode, they replaced. A plastic part on the airbox said it was fixed , said it drove fine.charged me $370.I picked it up. It still wasn't making boost and falling flat on its face. I brought it back in. They kept it for another week then told me they had no idea what was wrong with it. I took it home and decided to drop the exhaust as it was making a hissing noise. I discovered it had a primary cat that was falling apart and clogging the secondary cat and blocking the exhaust... how they didn't discover that Idk. I punched them.out and it ran like new, was a lot louder though.
The tune will absolutely void the power train warranty if something goes wrong, but the other stuff, like your radio, would still be covered under the bumper to bumper.
In Northeast Ohio Dealers Love Telling People That Having The Car Rust Proofing Done By Any One Other Than The Dealer Voids The Warranty. That Is A Bold Face Lie.
Why is it that GM always have so many vehicles sitting for sale? I mean, they have hundreds and more in the back; way way more than Ford and Dodge, Jeep Ram.
So obviously you can’t do it on the new l5p duramax yet but let’s say a lmm is still under warranty. You delete your lmm and the turbo goes out. So you put all the factory emmisions crap back on is it then under warranty still?
I feel like warranties cannot be voided due to aftermarket parts, unless they can determine that the aftermarket part directly caused the issue.
What about aftermarket ranch hand bumper
A lot of mods call for advanced tuning well if you have a car worth modding anyways you will have to tune it which will void your warranty for sure
Dealer has to prove that the mod caused the problem with the car
that can be subgective though'
GM has deeper pockets for litigation than any person buying their cars.
Steve Pounder litigation, think you mean mediation
xephael - Not if you’re trying to pursue legal action for a warranty denial. They won’t bend if you don’t have a case.
Steve Pounder If you read your warranty... you're forced to participate in mediation before any legal action can take place.

Sometimes that’s the only way!
Man that flag is beautiful in the wind! Just awesome!
You are obviously proud of your son. Thank him for his service for me. Great info in your video
Best way to protect your warranty with PM's and minor repairs is to have it done at a place that reports to Carfax. That way there is always a record.
2:00 Oh that sound, that's just Gary clicking his eyeballs together
God Bless the U.S. Marines !! Lot's of Love to your son, America loves him. Take care, & a Great weekend sir.
semper fi!
Yes!! Give us an AWD monster!!!!
YES!!!!!! And yes it is super easy to prove that
the certain mods damaged the vehicle. Not doing proper maintenance
will also void a warranty. I personally know people
who have had their warranty denied do to mods as well
as improper maintenance.
Hard to believe people still don't know this, especially "car guys". Nice to see you passing along good information, Keep up the good work.
I went through this with dodge on my modified srt4. A warranty can not be voided entirely, but the parts you replaced , will not be covered. And the dealership has to prove that your "intake" or whatever is why the engine blew up.
I just bought a 2018 Challenger RT and I want to add Borla Exhaust. Will this void my warranty?
Humble mechanic has some good info in warranty claims as well.
Great video Mike! Loved the flag in the background! Great touch and thank your son for his service! Semper Fi!
I not good with car terminology what exactly does that mean. I would like to make my new 2021 v6 camaro louder but how should I go about that?
Basics of the Magnuson-Moss Act
The Magnuson-Moss Act doesn't require manufacturers or sellers of consumer products to provide written warranties.
Requirements of the Magnuson-Moss Act
The Magnuson-Moss Act specifies a number of requirements that warrantors must meet. In addition, Congress directed the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to adopt rules to cover other requirements. The Act and the FTC Rules provide three basic requirements that apply to either warrantors or sellers:
Warrantors must designate or title a written warranty as either "full" or "limited".
My son too is a Marine, please tell your son thank you for his service and to stay safe..
that car is gorgeous.. if I could get one for the right price, id switch from my challenger back to a chevy!
SoCalChewbacca Lol you’re as bright as a black hole
I have recently started watching your content and I think it is great. I also have a '14 Silverado and I am a Marine so Semper Fidelis to you and your son.
My 2016 Camaro did the same thing with the infotainment (at 3 minute-ish) and the dealer looked at me crazy. It took the screen going out for them to believe me. Man I wished I had this video back in December of 2016. Yet I found one from March 2018.
Engine torque management!!! Take Out E.T.M. Tuned,,,, Taking notes,,, Bro' u are on point 👍💯💯💯💯👍👍👍
Thank your son for serving for me!
Amen
Cosmetic things don't mess with the warranty but any mechanical things it will void it.
2019 camaro how long should I wait to remove the “luggage” out of the muffler ?
It’s a GM product what do you expect. It’s a warning sign letting you know GM is getting ready to close plants, lay off workers, and give bonus checks to the executives
Fax!!!
Thank your son for his service and you for your sacrifice in being his dad.
What about ecu tunes? Can the dealer actually see if it’s been flashed before even if you return it to the stock profile before bringing it in?
Just when I thought I new things about buying vehicles you have shown me alot, thanks!!
So what about something like installing a remote-start after purchase? Would that void anything?
Thanks for the Vlog, good information. Thank your son for his service to our country.
Can you do a muffler delete without voiding warranty?
Sooo I want to buy a axle back flowmaster outlaw exhaust and dude at the dealership said the warranty should be fine if it does void anything it will just void the exhaust... I don't wanna put it on and get screwed...
On what car?
Great Video as always for me I don't worry about warranty sense my car is so old that even the extra warranty is no longer good hehe
I have to say that it's guy's like you that would make me want to come back to Chevrolet.
Dealership fix for $160.00 per hour labor . Over price.
Mike , GM called...They want their Radio back !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A dealer tried to void my warranty for taking my Jeep off road.
if im not mistaken, that is the main purpose of a jeep
I'm dead that's like voiding the warranty of a huracan performante for taking it to the track
Chrysler is loves to try that. They’ve tried to use that excuse for off-roading because I had road dust on the undercarriage of the vehicle.
WTF? Never sat well with me when they make a car that's great at something but if you try it once they'll basically throw you some birds and tell you to have a nice life or pay up.
prof. stein main purpose of a Jeep is to be a douchebag
Making noises? That's par for the course when dealing with chevy. Take a look at all the bolt and volt infotainment problems.
Do you think I would be ok with a secondary cat delete on a 2018 Camaro and still keep my warranty? I don't think it will cause any problems
Brought my VW in for a warranty claim a month after purchasing it and they tried to tell me that due to the window tint they weren't sure if they were going to cover it.... certainly depends on the dealer
So does this apply to a simple muffler delete?
Lemon law in California is different.. i bought a used 2012 mustang gt and they lemon law it.. gave me all my money back..great video by the way
good dealers dont give a issue most the time now if u procharged the car and slung a rod then yeah its NOT gonna be covered nor should any jackass try to get over on a dealer but they do lol love this guys channel hes 100% str8 up
Improper use of a vehicle - a guy had the transmission fail in a big Lexus sedan after less than 2,000 miles.
Interpretated. Great word
I was mesmerized by that beautiful flag! Thanks for the information.
That flag looks beautiful in the background.
DUDE!! your videos are awesome... you keep our attention the entire video, very entertaining and informative. thank you for this video, ive always asked people this specific question... can a tuned car be put back to stock? or will servicing always be able to notice?
Will adding supercharger to a newer truck Chevy ford or dodge void your warranty ?
Where did you get the corvette pullover?
That blue high desert tho!!! Lol they should have just called it the avalanche edition.
If I install a catless downpipe does that void my warranty or just the exhaust portion and what if I take the oem part and reinstall it before I take it in for whatever work is needed
If I added a tow hitch to my truck that didn’t have a hitch but a tow setting would it void my warranty?
I was kind a hoping you were going to tell us what was wrong or what was causing that clicking sound in your stereo system, plus I thought u were going to give a list of mods that would void your warranty. Good video
You are justifiably proud of your son!
Nice video bro!!! Do you know if I delete my muffler in my camaro will it void my warranty ?
The tune will absolutely void the power train warranty if something goes wrong, but the other stuff, like your radio, would still be covered under the bumper to bumper.
@@ChevyDude Isn't there recalls on the A8 though? Wouldn't it be covered under that and not the power train?
