Cant get enough of your videos. Im getting ready to buy a used car, and i've been prepping myself for 2 weeks. Thank you for your dedicated time.
Thank you, I got screwed when I was 80 yrs old. They told me I had to take this Chevy Trax that I did not want, charged me too much. They told me I didn't have a choice and I believed them. It was like I was hypnotized. I'm glad you're a honest person.
My name is Edna and I live in Alabama. I've paid on this car a year and still owe about $22,000 if I paid it off now.
Glad you are one of the few HONEST car dealers.
I’ve never really cared for dealerships or salesmen however, it appears by all of the info you freely share that you are a good one and, we can use more like you. Honesty and integrity are really all I can ask for. I would be great if more salesmen had more of both! Thanks for sharing.
LOVE your videos and really enjoyed the personal story! You are so kind to be sharing all these tips and hints to all of us nationwide!! Thank you!!
Bro if i lived in your state i would definitely buy from you
Thank you for sharing you stories and for being honest.
Car buying is something this grandma hates.
I always get taken because I’m so gullible.
Wish I lived close to your dealership I would buy from you.
My 1st car buying experience was with Saturn. It was the best. No sharks, in fact we had to find a sales person which is not what they called themselves. Randy would not let me leave the lot with the car until the loan was fully approved. He said he didn't want to break my heart by calling me to get more of a downpayment or a higher monthly payment. I fell in love with Saturn at that time...back in 1999. I wish they were still around.
You sir are an upstanding guy and salesman....its hard to find people like you out in that type of field and although I am nowhere near Kentucky, I do wish there were more people with the ethics and morals you represent. I appreciate your videos and keep on keeping on brotha.
wow it is good to see such a great person as yourself to take a life experience and use that to help others. Keep up the great job . too bad your not up my way in PA . I would come to your dealership in a heart beat.
New young soldier at Ft. Hood, tired of Gremlin X, saw a Mustang with a KA stereo. Just had to have it. Made the deal and traded in my Gremlin. Told to come back the next day so they could prep the vehicle. No problem. Showed up next day, no stereo in the Mustang. Was told they were selling the car not the stereo. I was an 18 year old GI in a GI town (made me a third or 4th class citizen), had already given them my vehicle what was I to do but accept the stripped out Mustang? I didn't get scammed, I got screwed without lube.
I just found you and I watched several of your videos. I am glad there are people like you who will educate the consumers on purchasing a new vehicle. That is the one thing I hated about buying a car, and dealing with forceful salesmen, who are only interested in their commission on the sale, no matter how they screw the customer. So thank you!
Glad you spoke about buying out of State. I've been thinking about ordering a new Camaro through you but I live in Hawaii . I know you have done this at least once before. I don't want to be ripped off by the local Chevrolet dealers.
Awesome story. I believe, for the most part, car sales people get a bad rap. Many years ago my local Chevy/Ford dealer tried to scam my 84 year old father in law to the point I had to let the salesman know that I was a police officer and actually had to call the local police to facilitate the salesman returning my father in law's trade in. So about a year later the dealership was sold and the new owner started to turn the dealership around. The first thing he did was fire the entire sales team. He hired an all new team and instructed them that if he found any sales person attempting to scam a customer, that sales person would be terminated immediately. It should be noted that this dealership was in a town of approximately 3,000 people. They almost completely depended on repeat business. Fast forward a few years and they have a 5 star rating. I have purchased 6 vehicles from them and have never had a problem. In fact I got a great deal on my 2016
Mustang v6. I purchased it brand spanking new for $ 18,675. And 3 years later my salesman still keeps in touch and without any suggestions from me, still gives me free oil changes. Again if you take care of your customers it will pay off in the long run. Great channel.
Wish I had known you when I bought out my lease on my 15 Malibu. The salesman said he would "throw in an extended warranty" guess who ended up paying for the warranty?
TH-cam always plays ford commercials when I watch your videos lol 😆
Hi , mike , it was a pleasure to see you in person,,, am l the person from most distance ,,,colombo Sri Lanka to Louisville Kentucky,,,, I will see you again soon , cheers,,,🎉🎉🎉
what about if we have a trade-in vehicle?how does that work and how do you value it since you are in a different state and cannot do your walkaround?
Years ago used to have a dealer in the Detroit are called *Point Dodge.*
They were so notorious for their strongarm sales technique, people used to call the gun point Dodge..
All the people in my home town worked at Saturn in Spring Hill . They took a big hit when it shut down but gmc still has the plant there and fortunately the people recovered after some time.
Thanks for sharing your story, and I appreciate your insight on buying a car out of state, after finding you on the internet I have a watched a lot your videos and when I'm going buy my next truck I'm going to see you
Everyone has a similar story that went to a dealer alone that was young. I did it 3 times every year for 3 years till I woke up.
gene978 yep I did it and on my 3rd year. Hopefully this is the last time ! Only 23 years old
I never had a salesmen ever call me to ask how I liked the car.. But it does seem, every time I went back to the dealer weather a week later or six months later, the salesmen was not working there anymore. LOL
I liked my 93 Saturn and I agree that Their customer service was great.
56 degrees! Ha! That's literally shorts and tee shirt weather here in Canada 👍
Absolutely, Tahoe as well. Het the 30s and we might get a sweater on...
I bought 2 Saturns. I really had great experiences with them and buying them. I am currently in the market for a new vehicle and miss the Saturn buying experiences.
If you're looking to buy a post-2010 car, my preference for a gas car would be a used Hyundai or Kia from 2012-2015. They depreciate really hard, but are more reliable than most brands when new. There was a recall on some of their four-cylinder engines in that time frame; just make sure the fix has been remedied before buying them. Either that, or buy a used electric car (Leaf, Chevy Spark EV, Fiat 500e) from 2013-15, and use it for local commutes and errands. Driving an EV is so quiet and smooth, you'll probably never want to go back to driving a gas car. Plus, there are far fewer moving parts than a gas car, so there's less stuff to break. Either way, it doesn't make financial sense buying a new car. Let someone else take the depreciation hit.
we own a saturn. its a little higher end then a cobolt or caviller. pretty suprised how maintence free they are. don't like the no tranny dipsticks though
I like your videos and I've watched several before I purchased my car a week ago. Thank you!
What kind of camera are you using? That thing is awesome!
A person ripped off by a car dealership.. this is strange story.
Dealers have to make a profit, just not a high five profit. If buying new, buy a leftover last year model, on the last day of the month. If you’re good, you can buy loaded for the price of a stripper.
Dude says he’s from the Midwest and also says it’s cold when 60 degrees... something doesn’t add up
Nah, homie. I live here too. It do be getting cold at 60, especially when the wind is blowing. 65 optimal
Just A Guy it do be getting cold her when it’s -20 in Wisconsin 😂
@@andresmacho888 listen, we gonna die at that temp, over here 😂
@@Andrew-yw8vz Once in Chicago, around 1987 or so, we had a wind chill of -84. It was around 21 below raw temperature and with the wind chill, on the radio it was -84. Starting really in January, the next 3 months are always super cold and there are always 10-20 days below zero, often well below zero. Once it gets cold you sort of get used to it. From Dec. to the end of April, we never see 60.
I can give you a funny story. When I was only 17 my cousin and I would go to car dealers just to drive the new Trans Am's. My cousin was a big bull shitter and would tall the salemen how his uncle is a wealthy business man and was buying him a new car and told him to go pick out whatever he wanted. They would fall for that crap every time and not only let us test drive their brand new Trans Am, but they always let us go alone without a salesman. We use to have a blast. This was in the 70's after Smokey and the Bandit came out. A year later when I turned 18 I tried to buy one. I was 18 with a part time job and no credit. I had a 1971 Ford LTD. Now here is the good part. The Trans Am had an MSRP of around $7,800. They had it marked on the windshield with a sale price of $6,100. So I told them I wanted to trade my car in for it. They have my car appraised. The salesman comes back and says we can give you $2,000 for your car! I'm like, really? Okay, I'll take it! I only paid $500 for the car a year earlier. He then presents the figures showing the $7,800 MSRP price minus the $2,000 trade-in allowance for a total price of $5,800. I say, wait a minute. You have a sale price on the windshield for $6,100. $6,100 minus $2,000 trade allowance is $4,100, not $5,800. The salesman then says, you got me. We can only give you $300 for your Trade. I was like, seriously dude? Are people really that stupid to fall for this crap when you have the sales price advertised right on the windshield of the car they are trying to buy? I had the same thing happen to me years later. It was around 1997 or 1998. A Chevy dealer had a nice conversion van with a big markdown on it. Once again, they had the sales price hanging from the mirror in the windshield. I had a 1996 Thunderbird I bought new. I only paid $12,500 for it new. So they appraise the car and come back to tell me they can give me $16,000 for it as trade-in. I'm like, really? I would LOVE to see that trick. Okay, I'll take it! They did the same thing the Pontiac dealer did back in 1978. They showed full MSRP with $16,000 for my trade-in. I said no, you need to take $16,000 from that sales price you have advertised hanging right in the windshield. Oh, we can't do that. We can only give you $9,000 for your trade. Needless to say they lost a sale.
I was tricked the same way. Advertised price was cheaper on the other side of the city, but I didn't read the fine print that indicated that not everyone will qualify. Unfortunately, my old car was totaled so time was not on my side to argue or try to find a better deal. I needed a car right away. Whenever I get a house I am going to keep a jalopy (back up car) around just for that reason.
@@gardyngurl32 Not everyone would qualify would have nothing to do with price. That would have to do with financing. If you didn't read the fine print then how were you tricked?
I like your videos and honesty. Question: If I want to buy a new vehicle from you, is it a no haggle truly best price?
Can you do a side by side comparison of the 2018 blackout edition Silverado 1500 and a 2018 midnight edition 1500 and go over the differences?
My first new car (2015). Went in, knew exactly what I wanted, all the options, etc. Special limited edition color. Waited about 5 months before I was told that particular color would be run in a couple more months. A couple more months later I was told (via email) that this particular car company would be cancelling orders who requested the special color. This was global. Anyone in the world who ordered this color is screwed. So about 7 months in from acquiring my own finance, all the paperwork, options, etc., I was told I can't have what I was promised. I pondered this for a few more days, considering cancelling my order. They then told me if I just picked a different color they would give me all the options I wanted for free ($2500). So I did. Looking back on it I'm glad I got my second color option, but I'm not certain if I would have went forward if not for the discount for being screwed over. Maybe I could have gotten more, but ordering outside of the states changes things.
Everyone gets scammed buying a new car! Even when you think you're getting a good "deal".
good video I still remember the first car I went and bought and will show you how old I am this was in 88 luckily my uncle was the top sales guy at the Chevy Dealership in Fort Worth at the time and went with me which I am still thankful for. In the end I got a car I could afford not the one I wanted but I could afford and make the payments sense I had just got out of High school and was heading to the Army and learned a lot from him that I still use today. And still remember him saying first car is one you can afford and work on, Save up now to get the car you want and in the end in 97 I did get that car I wanted and still drive it today.
Mad props dude. Workin to take care of your family. No matter what. I always thought I would be a good car salesman. I know the products & don't want to be that guy that screws people. When customers know more about the vehicle than the sales guy that aint good. Lol.
I live in upstate NY - Can I get a 2022 Hyundai Tuscon Limited from you? I know supply is tight due to the chip issue. I haven't tried here locally in the Albany, NY area yet, but am really impressed with your knowledge and professionalism. Looking to lease - $10K/year mileage. No trade. Clean deal. Can you help? Let me know how to connect with you off this site! Thanks - Bryan
I got scammed by a Ford salesman, after being in an accident.. Similar issues, but as a public individual on TH-cam, you are now held to a higher standards.
So, I'd buy a vehicle from you, even though, I'm out off state. :-)
Do car dealers hire people from out of town, people who would have to move there to work? So if I applied for a job in another state would I even stand a chance? Would it be better to go there first and try to give my resume and/or application in person? I've seen ads where they say they are doing on the spot interviews.
I think turnover rates are fairly high at most dealerships so they probably wouldn't be too picky about it. The dealer I work at just wants the desks filled pretty much
Yeah, its a high turnover job and some dealers treat their salespeople like crap. One of the big dealer groups in my area who has stores in many states has ads literally all the time. I'd be afraid to work for them.
I love the way people from Louisville say 'Louisville'...
56 degrees and you're cold? Come to Minnesota...we shoot car review videos in -13 degree weather. You have a fun channel. Thanks for all the info!
Mike ..... For us Old Times here in Philadelphia...you are NEVER allowed to refer too walking up hill both ways unless you are referring to going to school...lol...
Mike. Please answer me a question. I recently was on the chevy website and was building a 2019 truck. When I got to the summary page the site deducted a thousand dollars off the msrp. I did my research and found it was pricing me a vehicle as if I lived in Georgia. Zip code 30301. So my question is, why does it give a extra thousand off in incentives for those that live in that state and not other states? Thank you in advance. I live in Kentucky. Also was pricing a 3500 HD
I was wondering why you were so honest, car dealerships are not usually.
I got ripped off buying my first new car--happened at Hassan Volkswagen in Norwood, Ohio. I was a new college grad, got my first job and needed a car. I didn't know what I was doing and thus paid for rust proofing, creditor life insurance and the many other fraudulent fees that Hassan tacked on, plus they hit me with 13.5% interest--so I paid $225 a month for 60 months. I think Hassan was eventually sold and became another dealership--Northland Volkswagen--but needless to say I would never go back there again. They cheated me once but that was the one and only time.
My dad could sell ketchup popsicles to a man in a white suit
I wouldn't be that impressed with that dealer. Ultimately, its why I was so happy that my Dad came with me the first time I bought a new truck on credit. Now, when you said about getting scammed on a car buy, I figured it would have been like my last experience. Say an 03 Mustang Convertible that my Mom fell in love with, which is contrary to her nature, mine as well. I don't love any car until its in my name and there is no loan on it. But she wanted to take a look at it, so we did, because I might be a complete a--hole, but yeah, its my Mom that wants to look. So, the dealer offers to let us take it on a test drive, and she jumps at it, first problem, can't get the roof down. Okay, I am semi-mechanically inclined, so its something I could fix. Start the car, the idiot light for the battery comes on. Again, not a major problem, I can sort that out, as the battery looked like an Anchor for the Mayflower. We get going down the road, major shudder in the car when traveling over 45 mph, stiff power steering, yada yada yada. We return the car, she asks about the price, he says $2000, she pointed out the shudder at speed, the low voltage light in the dash, and the roof not working, he comes down to a grand. So she pulls me on the side, and asks if I can afford it, which I could. She asks what I would do with the car, so I give her the nice son talk about rebuilding the engine (or doing an engine swap), replacing the broken front and rear bumper, new rims and tires. More or less that I would spend a year or two doing a full restoration of the car. She likes the idea, of course it would be on my dime, and she wants to get it. Okay, so she says she'll take the car for $1000, dealer says that his inspection guy has left for the day and he can't release the car without a current inspection. That isn't a problem for either of us, so we get the paperwork done, he gives the standard "the car what is as is" speech. I can live with that, worst case scenario I can part out the car for that, put that money aside and get her the dream car she hasn't had since she got rid of her GTO (a Corvette) later on. So, the next day, car is ready has a current inspection, I have the tags for the car, and his mechanic follows me back to the house, as she was having a bad day and couldn't drive. I noticed immediately that the guy is using no turn signals. This did not amuse me as if someone decided to total the car because they didn't realize he was turning, it was my insurance. So now the rant, because this did burn me... I get home, she wants to go visit her father-in-law, my (step) grandfather in at the beach, and she wants to take the care. I am not completely against the idea, but I expressed concern about the battery voltage light, the stiff power steering, and the vibration. So, first things first I get a new battery, install a new alternator, and replace one of the alternator plugs, battery light problem fixed. Start the car, with the hood up, its loud, so I start crawling around and notice the exhaust headers are cracked, go get that fixed. See the tires are all the wrong size and mismatched at all four corners, fix that problem, now only a slight vibration. Go to get the car aligned, bad tie rod ends, replace those, vibration fixed. So, we get the car prepped to go, and what is the first thing everyone should do before setting out, yet few actually do? Turn the headlights on, nothing. Hit the turn signals, nothing. Pull the headlight assembly, no bulbs or sockets. I jest you not, the car passed a Virginia State Inspection with no bulbs or sockets in the car. So, I go special order the parts from my local Ford dealer, while the salesman I really don't like is following me around trying to get me to look at a new Mustang, which I don't want. Two days later, get the parts, new headlights and turn signals, fix that problem. So, as sad as it is, I can honestly say that a new inspection sticker isn't always truthful. Outside of these problems that should have failed the car, its been a good car, restoration plans have been put on hold, because I ended up paying $2000 for the car anyway, due to massive repairs. This is why I say shopping for cars is fun, buying them, not so much. Side note, when all this went down I filed a complaint with the state over it, mostly because the dealer was not so pleasant when I described in detail all the problems with the car, and his rubber stamp inspection. His inspector lost his license, and he did as well. A second lesson here, if you have a problem with a dealer, don't be afraid to raise a stink over it.
Why did you not check it and discover the no bulbs, the leaking exhaust manifolds, etc? I doubt you would not have bought it at that point.
Jon Smith partly my stupidity and partly trust. I, and I think this goes for most people, have a reasonable expectation that a car that passes a state inspection process is at the very least safe to drive on the road, even if in need or repair. That means fluids are at the correct level, properly sized tires that are appropriate for the vehicle, signals and headlights in working order, etc.
No disrespect, but buying a sports car for $1,000, you know that you are buying trouble.
Question. Now, that you have car buying and selling experience (obviously), did the Hyundai people screw you when you went to pick up the original car and push you into buying instead? Or was the $600 bucks you "owed" a number "trick" they were using to try and get you into a buying position?
Best salesman of the century
I miss Saturn. My first two cars were Saturn sedans, they were good, reliable vehicles. That "no-haggle" pricing model was great. I loved the feeling that everyone paid the same price, whether in Maine or Florida or Kansas or Oregon, black, white, male, female: the same price. No haggling skill required. I remember going on the early Internet and getting a price for a Saturn. When I went to the dealership the salesman worked out the price on paper and he came to the same number. That was a good feeling. I think all companies should adopt that model. (Yeah, I know the average profit was a bit higher than other companies, I didn't care.) It's a frigging shame GM killed that branch of the company.
awesome video as always brother great advice for the younger generation keep up the awesome work brother

I’ve bought 3 cars thus far in my life, 2 were from smaller lots and the most recent was from a caddi dealer. I had great experiences with the two smaller lots but would never buy from the caddi dealer again. They pushed warranty after warranty on me and I ended up with some auto armor crap coverage that I didn’t want. I basically had to fight the finance guy to get rid of 2 other coverages. I thought I got rid of all of them and come to later find that one was still sneaked in. Yes it’s my fault 100% as I didn’t catch it on the final paperwork until it was already a done deal and I was back home. Lesson learned is all I can say. I am highly against warranties and suggest to anyone to fully read every page and don’t let anyone rush you.
I negotiated a used car from $17000 to $14000 with all fees. I did finance but I’ll pay it off when I get the bill.
Hey Mike, I'm from Mobile can you give me shipping charges? I need a cargo van and can't deal with local Chevy dealer here. Ready to buy!
Love the honesty I can relate
56 degrees? Right about now thats shorts and outdoor seating weather in MN. You want a bummer, try having to scrape the frost off your windshield every morning. ;-)
Hey mike how long will it take to ship a car to California from Louisville Kentucky?
Ok
Sadly my local Chevy dealer has tried to rip me off a dozen times and I’ve stopped even considering a purchase from there when they quoted a price 2k over their online price for a new car (a brand new Zl1) and offered 4k less trade in value then the nearest out of town Chevy dealership offered me just days before for my car. When I called them out about it, the person I was working with nearly could not talk and took 5 minutes to say “we’re sorry, were not trying to screw you over”. And not to mention they kept my car out for their test drive for 45 minutes. The ironic thing is “Curtesy” is in their name 😂. I wish I truly had a good Chevy dealer in my general area.
Online prices on are based on all applicable rebates and incentives bud.
It sounds like a Larry H. Miller Lexus dealer in Salt Lake City!
I've bought probably 30 cars in my life, have never paid a dealer fee, and never will.
Why would you lie about something like that?
So if I wanted to buy a car from you, can I fly out there to Kentucky, finance a car and drive it back to my state? Wouldn't that be much cheaper than having it shipped and having to pay the shipping fee?
Geez, wish I knew you when I bought my 2017 impala premier
Hey Mike, a couple of years back I bought this Toyota 6cylinder 4wd Rav4 had 50 thousand miles on it. Oh it's 2010 I think it was for 18 thousand payments are 370.85. Well come to find out I have what is called an upside down car payment. Way more than what the car is worth. Man let me tell you I'm not happy at all but what can I do. May as well pay it off. Don't ever want to go through that again. Just saying if you got a friend who has a friend that's a car dealer, RUN.
PURCELL LASH same thing happened to me. Good advice, run.
Like I say - pay attention to the "bottom line" on any deal (and esp. cars).
I bought a car out of state and all they did was slap a temporary tag on it and send me on my way. Now my state is Maine, and you pay your sales tax when you get your tags (and then again every year at a depreciated rate - ouch).
What I forgot to note was that Maine requires even a brand-new car to have a safety inspection (Really!) and the Mass dealer of course hadn't been able to do that. So it was only several months later when I was getting the car serviced locally that I noticed all the other new customer cars had a safety inspection decal.... hmmmm.... Not a big deal, but obviously some state-to-state variation. Sold a car to Maine yet?
My dream truck is that white trail boss, but here in Sacramento California the price is listed at 58k that's the one with the leather interior and fully loaded. Is that a good price for that truck?
Great Video Mike..
Will consider u when I'm ready to buy my new corvette.
I agree a dealer has to make a profit on every sale but how much? I feel like if they can make a couple thousand dollars a buyer can accept that but of course they want as much as they can get. The question is for negotiation purposes.
Ill have to maybe email or call you when i get back from deployment in november. Im from kentucky and will be lookin to buy a truck when im home in december.
I would never pay a dealer fee. Never have never will.
90% of the time the crooks will waive it the ones that don’t, don’t get my business.
Tony Samos they don’t waive shit. They just move numbers around.
I was on the final stage of payout. Noticed the dealer fee said I wouldn't buy it with it added. He removed $300 from the OTD agreed price. But on the contract he just reduced $300 from the Car but it still showed $300 dealer fee on the contract.
Alex yeah they just move numbers around. If they “take off the fee”, it’s because they are already making the profit needed on the car price. Or they are under paying you enough for the trade. What they are “taking off” is coming from somewhere though.
@@dustin9258 exactly! And that's where I'll walk away because I don't like slick shit.
How often do you have customers buy camaros or Corvettes off the lot or in the showroom at your dealership? And what was the oldest car you have had in the preowned lot and did it sell?
I do have a question: Not sure if you answer questions from your older videos, but now that you have your own business, do you ship your own cars or do you hire out a company to do it for you? My concern would be damage incurred during shipping and would I have to eat the repair cost if it happened.
I use pro shippers. It’s moser cost effective for a everyone
Thank you for sharing Mike
Don't "EVER" pay the dealer fees, tell them you'll walk away, common Chevy Dude you know that. :-)

I live in southern california and looking to get financed for a vehicle. Would i be able to buy a vehicle from your dealership thru you? Dont trust these california dealerd and dont want to get scammed.
Are tags title & license included in sales price?
I am in the market for a truck, but North Carolina around the Raleigh area does not seem to have what I am looking for.
Does your dealership partner with any companies that will do a lift kit setup with a warranty from your store? Would be interested in speaking with you further.
Hey mike, what is the best month to buy a truck? Is truck month the same across the US?
Yup, hope statute of limitations is up, as I pirated the same program back then. Great software
How does this work with Canadian customers if it can and if it does do u do these type of transactions I'm interested
Hello, is it possiable to buy a chevy frm or dealer from a guy who just starting on credit ?

Very good my bro keep up and love video 💯
been looking to shop for a new truck in the near future and I am in Cincinnati. i come down there a couple times a year for my catfishing tackle business. i would be more than willing to come to your dealership to do business after tuning into your channel for the last few days. very intuitive and informative. when I am ready to buy I would love to talk more about getting a new truck from you. really eyeballing the new ram 1500 laramie series trucks with certain options. maybe we can chat sometime?
I shipped my Chevelle enclosed, awesome experience! American Auto Mover!
Thank you for sharing your story.
I am leasing a car. I might have to put tires and brakes on it before I turn it in. What should I do
Apr and how long you finance the car will affect your monthly payment
Also, in 1988 the prime mortgage rate was between 9.5% to 10.5% depending what month it was and that was for PRIME. Auto loan rates were higher and you being a first time buyer with no credit and having to have a cosigner AND there was no CAP on what dealers could add to the rate in those day's, it is extremely unlikely they added $2,000 to the price of the car. They got a hell of a money factor which is why the payment went from $200 to $247 after rolling the tax into the lease. Based on a $14,995 MSRP for a 1998 base model Status, estimating $220 for title & registration, a 5 year lease with 12,000 miles per year and residual value of $5,000, with a money factor of 0.00279, the payment is exactly $247 month with tax included. This is based on a 6.25% sales tax. While these numbers may not be exact to the numbers from your lease they are very close to whatever they were which shows there is no way they just added $2,000 to price of the car.
I think the point is that whenever you say you can only afford $200 a month that includes all of it. They should have figured in all the other fees to find a car he could afford. It may have been smaller or slightly used. One other way they do this is by stretching the payments out over a longer term. We just took GM financing so we could get a better price on a vehicle knowing we would pay it off after 3 months. If I wasn't planning to have it paid off after 3 months, I would have made them change the financing from 72 months to 60.
@@gardyngurl32 He got a 60 month lease which in those days were the longest term you could get on a lease. I don't think you can even get a 60 month lease any more. I think the longest is 48 months. The most common is 36 months followed by 24 months. Can't lease a used car and typically a lease is the cheapest way to go as far as getting the lowest payment possible. On a $14,995 vehicle plus tax, title & lic., he would have been looking at a payment of at least $367 month for 60 months. And in 1988 they weren't offering 72 months on auto loans and if they had the interest rate would have been so much higher that it would likely have only made a difference of $15 to $20 per month in payment. Remember, this was back in 1988 when prime interest rates were at 9.5% to 10.5%. He was a first time buyer and needed his mother-in-law to cosign, so they would not have gotten the prime rate which was even higher than the 9.5% to 10.5% rates which was prime for mortgage loans. Auto loans were higher rates.
So how do you get in and out of the truck when it is in the trailer?
Is there a way to calculate your states taxes and all? Also if we do come to you to buy/finance car would we way Kentucky or out states’ taxes?
You would pay your own state's state sales tax. Any county and local taxes and registration fees are paid by you. (I Do the same as Mike just a little different, but I do enjoy watching his vids 😂)
Am I going to have better luck buying a new end of the year 2018 than a new 2019 model?
It likely won't be relevant until next year but I'm trying to get an idea of the best process.
I expressed interest in Kias in my previous comment but what might some of my alternative options be if I'm in the $25 to $30K range, ballpark?
If you have a crossover or minivan in that price neighborhood, it might be interesting to see what I could get in that price bracket. New.
And of course shipping added on, too, because I live in Prescott Arizona.
Thanks Mike. Any advice or ideas are welcome.
Love your channel already subscribed. :-)

Your videos are good, and tend to show that you are an ethical salesman. But two things in this video caught my ear. 1) Revealing that you previously pirated software, and hope the statute of limitations has run out. That kind of dishonesty tends to stay in one's DNA. 2) You said "When you call me, pretty much everything's going to be straightforward". Only "pretty much"? Why not ABSOLUTELY everything"? I don't want to prejudge you, but these two comments alerted my integrity radar, where integrity is defined as "doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking". I hope you ARE doing the right thing each day, even when we're not looking... and maybe you are! Thanks for listening.
He talks more than he should.
He's a salesman.
Nice one chevy dude

Hey Mike, What if I want a truck from Georgia but don't want to travel the 400 miles? And with a trade in how does that work?
I am learning from you i am about to buy a new car, the salesmen called me today and told me they have diccounts on the car i want to buy a toyota chr he told me he wanted to talk about nice monthly payments, i told him lets respect each other, lets talk about final price he gave me some numbers tomorrow i am goimg to check it out
Edwin Justiniano what kind of payment are you looking at? Lol, I hate when they do that.
These mega dealers with multi million dollar showrooms will be a thing of the past.
We will buy direct, or maybe from a giant parking lot with a small service garage someday I hope.
That’s the first thing I notice going into the front door of these palaces. Just like a casino, I say, wow, and I have to help pay for all of this.
Lawn guy? Man of the house your are the lawn guy!!
Mike, how would it work if you live out of state but still retain a local address in KY? To which state would a person have to pay sales taxes to?
