I love one piece but I have to agree, the fights are so terrible now, theirs no grit no hands no serious damage just flashy and bigger attacks, I miss the how cool the east blue fight were when luffy would kick, Bradbury,grab, punch, and do anything necessary to fight. This is an old comment but I feel like all the fights are luffy losing then getting up or being saved, then losing once more and receiving a new power up or just a random boost of power and beating his opponent which could’ve been good for the first parts of the show but now in wano it’s like you’re only watching to see what happens not really looking at the fight or the sorry story Bc there’s rly nothing happening
That's One Piece's fights for you. What makes it special are the build up, not how great the choreography of the fight, though. That's why most of One Piece fight isn't my favorite.

My biggest gripe about one piece, and I notice it every time I revisit the old volumes, is that the artwork has got so bad now to the point where I find it hard to make sense of the story. Pre timeskip it used to be such an easy read, everything was drawn and spaced so nicely. Now I’m looking at tiny abstract people with a mountain of text on each panel struggling to understand where people are in the frame. And the fight scenes just look so messy I can’t make out what’s happening to who. I feel like if this was any other series Oda would have been called out years ago but one piece fans are so defensive they find it hard to admit when something is just straight up bad
I feel what you're saying. I started watching One Piece when I was 12 or sth, now I'm almost 26. I've been watching it on and off since the wait is just too tedious for me. I didn't watch it at all since right before the end of Dressrosa because it became too tedious for me and I couldn't give two shits about what was coming. Now I continued watching it and it feels like the show has just become absolute trash. The openings used to be amazing, now they are just some generic 3min long japanese pop song over some flashy and over dramatic animations. I skip them everytime. The battles just like you said have become utterly ridiculous. One Piece battles used to surprise you and always had interesting twists to them, now Luffy is pretty much flying, single punches are drawn out into minute long "who's stronger" competitions when they clash against each other in mid-air without falling. Complimented by unnecessary lightning and transformation effects this show does seem like Dragonball without the stakes. There is also too many side characters now, that I cannot even afford to care about attention wise. The Soundtrack is also super ridiculous. Whenever there is something remotely sad, the same dramatic music comes on. The strawhat fight theme now comes on whenever Luffy does something stupid, just came from an episode on Zoo where he shakes a draw bridge and suddenly this music starts - the placement of the OST is completely misguided. Also the character art and animation seems much cheaper and with less soul than it used to be, digital art does not have to be this way though. Gotta say, Wano art at least seems to look better. Maybe I'm just too old for this series now though who knows.
Yeah, I'm done with One Piece now. The Wano Arc somehow managed to feel very slow and yet incomplete at the same time. It managed to take so long to accomplish so little in the story and character development.
Im glad that people are finally seeing the light. Oda has been doing the same arc on repeat for 20 years and now he is taking a break HOPEFULLY to think and make this final arc worth something. Unfortunately it’s probably going to be ANOTHER civil war arc.

Spoilers 1049 - "yonko" "strongest pirates" for 30+ years, big meme and kaido no awakenings, no defensive techniques just eating punches (well the main characters are also bigger damage sponges). Big meme didn't even bother using conquerors infusion on kidd and law (she only used armament), instead used it on page one to save nami and usopp and damage ulti, she also got rid of that nonsense kazenbo, they get beaten by a bunch of chosen kiddos that unlocked awakening in 1-2 weeks because of "MUH WILLPOWER", the defeat of kaido and the so called yonko crew very anticlmactic, his crew didnt even shown haki at all except who's who lol. Luffy getting 5 powerup a$$pulls out of nowhere, trash writing made for kids, I guess I am too old or did Oda tone down the realistic writing? I didn't mind gear 5 but it went a bit far as well, almost to the point of getting out of the panels and greeting the readers, it will probably happen in the future. TWO EMPERORS , defeated in like 3 hours. I expected luffy and kaido fighting for days (he can skip fighting but still show us fighting only chapters) maybe even weeks around onigashima area, but no just roof top, roof top, roof top, not even fighting in the flower capital for some diversity. Then Kaido gets defeated silently by a big punch, similar to doflamingo, not similar, exactly copy paste the same thing just bigger. Screw this I am gonna write and draw my own version. Also 30 chapters the so called "numbers" running around the castle and some of them getting one shotted, and many other stupid unnecessary plot points. Just awful. yonko damage sponges vs chosen kid damage sponges, eventually the main characters win. If you think we will get a proper blackbeard pirates fight, then bad news for you. you will be disappointed far worse than this.

I learnt from Reddit as a former TG reader that when the promises and hype of the story exceeds the quality of the storytelling for at least 2 arcs, the story is basically never getting back to "the good times". Once shounen fans have been sold a dream they cling onto it for dear life. At that point they are hooked and the hype which was real at one point turns into delusion. In the last stages of the story this turns into copium and that's when you know that hype train is gonna crash. Don't even talk them out at that phase, they won't listen,I know from TG experience - they were damned vicious right near the end. All the signs are there and they will ignore every. single. one. Sadly Shounen fans only learn when the train crashes and they come back down to earth. Then they feel stupid and betrayed and then they turn it to the mangaka (Look at Isayama for a small dose of what's gonna happen in the near future). It's crazy that 20 years of storytelling is going down the toilet but I don't exactly blame Oda. He is a monster with worldbuilding, it's obvious the corporate side of shounen jump and overwork is what wore him down the most.
As of 1049, in my opinion, that has to honestly be the most undeserved and shallow ending i´ve ever seen in One Piece, why should we be exstatic when all the tension went out the window chapters ago? Luffy did not deserve a win, because of the ass-pull powerup that did not have any build-up other than Whos-Who refering to a "Nika" person, and thats it? Kaido, this supposed behemot of strenght, called "The king of beasts, strongest creature on earth" and for a while i thought that to be true, considering he smashed down all the red scabbards and most of the Worst Generation. He beat Luffy three times in a row, Three fucking times and "Apparantly" to fix that, Oda just gave Luffy a random power-up that really underplayed the importance of Wano and the strenght of Kaido. You can disagree if you want to and thats perfectly fine, but this arc (And really the show itself) just fucking killed itself. Not to mention, how the hell do you balance this for further arcs, basically reality warping -likewise with the idea that Luffys will wasn´t his own this whole time?
I actually think that the absolute insane power escalation in this arc is the primary reason why Oda now has to finish One Piece, because there is absolutely no way to continue the series without it literally becoming Dragonball. To me, who was a big fan of One Piece when it came out, this is pretty sad, to be honest. The series has just continuously devolved and since the Fishman Island arc it has basically become a parody of itself. If Oda just hadn't been so greedy, he would have ended the story properly at a way earlier point and not artificially drawn it out to cash up on its success.
Instead of giving Luffy another fucking power up, he could've found a more interesting way of taking Kaido out. He did the exact same thing as in the Luffy/Doflamingo fight (even with the big punch), except worse in every possible way. This has to be the shittiest, messiest and most underwhelming OP arc so far.

Wano is a disappointment in the end with tons of plotholes and everything mention in the video has left a lot of unasked questions now that wano has officially ended after 1057
i gave up. i just basically don't mind about Oda's rushing on 105# chapters, and other stuff. the only thing left i dislike is, the dragon ball-like effetcs they put into it. like..Why? For example that episode where zoro meet hyogoro, the aura is just HIDEOUS. they should relaly stop that
Now I will give my reasons for which this arc is BAD. 1) Total lack of tension during the raid. Nobody really questioned the possibility of losing against two yonkos, the alliance believes in Luffy to the point where his victory seems more like when it's going to happen rather than if. This whole fight seemed like a setup for a decisive battle where everyone is really up their breaths, but it turned out to be the final battle itself. 2) No low points during the raid, everything went smooth and easy. Sure, Luffy lost twice, but that had basically no impact on the story and not even on the reader. It took literally one chapter for Luffy to get back up in G5, no tension there whatsoever. I would have loved to see Kaido and the beast pirates getting back up, as it was established in impel down that zoan users gain extreme durability and fast recovery times when awakened, and here awakening wasn't even a thing for the bad guys. 3) Luffy's victory was poorly portayed, nobody even saw him beating Kaido exceppt for Momo and Yamato. Normally everyone gets to see the defeat of the villain, especially the oppressed people of the island, but here everyone just kept partying all night and was not even aware of the danger coming up above them. 4) Zoro's whole storyline was null, this was his arc and he didn't get any particular shine. His moment with Sanji could have been much deeper. We still have no answers for his lineage and his relationship with Ryuuma and the Daimyo of Ringo. 5) Big mom defeated by Kidd and Law, who had no real relationship with her to begin with. Kidd's animosity for Kaido brought to nothing, plus Big Mom really had to be beated by Luffy because that's what was the setup since the beginning of the new world and through WCI. 6) Many loose threads like Big Mom's pirates, Zunisha coming to Wano for doing absolutely nothing, Wano is a very special place but we do not know why, Kaido's backstory is still a mystery, what is Caribou even doing here and so on. Some of this may still be answered in the next chapters, but you can't really answer everything at the end imo. 7) Yamato is the worst character even written in One Piece, I don't even have to explain why. 8) Momo's storyline ended in the most stupid way possible. Instead of heroicaly keeping the island on his shoulders above the people of Wano mirroring his father's feats we fucking got "come forth, flame clouds" I think I may go on all day. This arc is pretty bad till chapter 1051, but with the conclusion we got after that it's pure bullshit. I loved this series for years and I still love it, I just can't believe this ending and this poor writing decisions coming from Oda, a man who never disappointed the readers and always succeded in surpassing the expectations. Yu have not to know him and all the previous arcs for somewhat enjoying Wano and not seeing its flaws.
There are multiple instances where Luffy sacrificed his lifespans in order to be stronger. Therefore, the point where he keeps getting back even though he was defeated is valid. Other characters would not be willing to do the same thing to keep fighting, they just accepted defeated. We have to wait in the end to see whether or not Luffy suffered from his shortened lifespan before making a valid conclusion.
The pacing has ruined One Piece for me. I fucking hate how many stupid flashbacks, backstories and crappy sub character fights make the fights so damn slow. I’ve skipped most of the Wano arc just to be disappointed by the Kaido fight. Big Mom was just there for the cannon fodder.
Wano is going to have 200 episodes by the end of the arc. Its not close to ending at all. One Piece has basically turned into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in Onigashima.
I agree, as a long time one piece watcher (started watching at the start of Dressrosa), the Wano arc is objectively the most boring snooze-fest in one piece, most of the one piece episodes these days include the character chatting some random bullshit that doesn't have any relevance, and then have like 1 or 2 seconds of fighting, and the most interesting characters have 0 screen time, this shit got me skipping some episodes cause they talk way too much, and it's not interesting tbh
Yes the whole thing about the gum gum fruit being garbage is underrated. The chosen one shit was kinda set up with dragon and garp, and the "D." Luffy clearly wasn't just some kid but him being divinely destined kinda sucks.
The last time OP was amazing was marineford. Pre timeskip as a whole was fantastic. Super disappointing what has become of this series. We’re too far into the series to drop it though. So much time has been invested into it that I gotta see how it ends. Just one more saga.
I disagree cake island and dress Rosa are good but they are lessen for being linked to wano Zoo was meh but I assumed it was the equivalent of the giant island to alabasta a boring part but a step to a bigger arc but wano sucked too much so it just sound disgustingly bad and pointless now
How many effing eyeball zoom ins do these animators need? The animation of Wano is strange, so backwards, so annoying, so over the top, overly saturated with colour, it officially KILLED the series off for me. Yeah you heard that right. The anime actually killed the manga for me. Well, that and Oda's terrible writing. Oh and don't forget the fanbase making me want to vomit each week, the lack of criticism, all of it ruined One Piece for good.
As someone Watch big 3 since 2002. I never be fans of one piece, i just follow coz i dont like unfinished story. The story concept is Best among all Big 3, But execution is worst among all Big 3 OP for me 5/10
2.14 Mahito from JJK is a well written character despite being evil for the sake of it. We dont need 50 layers of coat on every villian. Kaido needs more backstory. So does Yamato.

I watched/read all of one piece to caught up to wano. All the hyping people did WAS DISAPPOINTMENT. Act 1 and 2 were decent where nothing too good. Act 3 starts of good with the oden flashback. But falls off with the messy raid. The oden flashbacks during the raid is ANNOYING! STOP WITH THE FAKE DEATHS GODDAMN IT! The raid barely got me hyped. The only thing that got me hype was Sanji and zoro tag team attack and sanjis awakening. Anyone who says wano is peak doesn't know what are they talking about.

You know this is why momonosuke is the worst princess in distress of one piece. Nami asked for help after she tried everything else and betrayed them because for her Arlon was just too much of a monster. Vivi only flaw was that she refused to risk the life of anyone other than herself. Robin is robin so awesome by default The mermaid was annoying at first but then you realize that she hid the truth to respect her mother wish. The gladiator was weak but she tried at least to free herself. Momo is a pathetic arrogant loser who’s only actual good point is being followed by kindemon. It’s not just that he doesn’t do anything because he is weak it’s that he doesn’t try because he is too much of a coward. He had no value except being oden son so he was a symbolic guy but his sister was more courageous while being a crybaby Specially in zoo where the 2 kings bowed to him as if he had any perticular value while he was just the worst. He except the world to do as he say while being a bitch that refuse to fly to save his life because he’s a coward. And those saying but he’s just a kid. One piece is full of courageous kids. It's said that Kishimoto and Oda are friends, likely learning from each other, but there's no such rapport with Tite Kubo. Instead, Kubo and Oda were known to rival over a art award, often on why one series was released sooner than the others. 8:18

im catching up with the show now. I started one piece like 7 months ago and just finished dressrosa. Im curious on wano tho. And im not so sure if i will believe you. People called Dressrosa "annoying" too or talked about the infamous "dressrosa fatique". Couldnt rly confirm this. The arc was phenomenal. Probably not on sabaody-marineford level... but after that? Pretty much the second best arc in the show. (yes, better than water 7 + enies. Which i found both pretty mid). On the other hand, i agree with most people that fishman island was.... uhm... not that great.
Hey to be honest with you Luffy did have character development. Luffy knows endure new sorrows; Luffy learns to not cling onto the past; he learned to be more creative with his power; he learnt to push people to their future, such as Momonosuke; he learns about cherishing his friends more than ever. Also remember that all of that power wasn't just handed to him. He fought enemies, getting stronger and learning more each battle and don't forget those 2 years of harsh training. However, Gear 5... Oda's just spoiling him.

It was his destiny to defeat Kaguya. Becoming hokage was his birthright. He fulfilled the bringing peace to the world prophecy by the Great Toad Sage. And he fulfilled the Sage of the Six Paths prophecy of being the one to unite the Tailed Beasts. The theme of hard work beats talent that was built in Part I ie) beating Neji, beating Haku, beating Sasuke, etc. was completely and utterly destroyed in Part II, particularly the War Arc where you were fodder if you didn't have a tailed beast, uchiha ties, etc.

In manga, Wano Arc is probably the best One Piece arc, at least after timeskip. In anime, it's just become another arc. Pacing is killing it. You can probably count how many times toei play same scene in different episode. The worst part when Queen use his poison bullets to turn everybody to zombie. Man, this moment is full of bad pacing.
I disagree it was long and boring in the manga too. The bad guy felt too strong and merciful at the same time. It doesn’t matter if he can one shot you if he will never kill you. Big mom crocodile or Magellan were scary because you just knew they were there to kill you. Kaido ever felt like a threat Endless felt like he might spare you but him it would be because your not worth killing. Even momonosuke is the worst princess archetype all the other at least tried to save their country or had a backbone. Nami trying to buy her island. Vivi going James Bond rebeca fighting in the arena even the mermaid hiding the truth to respect her mother will. If momo had been in any of their places not only would he have failed but also likely refused to ask for help out of pride. He expect the world to be given to him but just suck in general

My biggest gripe about one piece, and I notice it every time I revisit the old volumes, is that the artwork has got so bad now to the point where I find it hard to make sense of the story.
Pre timeskip it used to be such an easy read, everything was drawn and spaced so nicely. Now I’m looking at tiny abstract people with a mountain of text on each panel struggling to understand where people are in the frame. And the fight scenes just look so messy I can’t make out what’s happening to who.
I feel like if this was any other series Oda would have been called out years ago but one piece fans are so defensive they find it hard to admit when something is just straight up bad

I feel what you're saying. I started watching One Piece when I was 12 or sth, now I'm almost 26. I've been watching it on and off since the wait is just too tedious for me. I didn't watch it at all since right before the end of Dressrosa because it became too tedious for me and I couldn't give two shits about what was coming. Now I continued watching it and it feels like the show has just become absolute trash. The openings used to be amazing, now they are just some generic 3min long japanese pop song over some flashy and over dramatic animations. I skip them everytime. The battles just like you said have become utterly ridiculous. One Piece battles used to surprise you and always had interesting twists to them, now Luffy is pretty much flying, single punches are drawn out into minute long "who's stronger" competitions when they clash against each other in mid-air without falling. Complimented by unnecessary lightning and transformation effects this show does seem like Dragonball without the stakes. There is also too many side characters now, that I cannot even afford to care about attention wise. The Soundtrack is also super ridiculous. Whenever there is something remotely sad, the same dramatic music comes on. The strawhat fight theme now comes on whenever Luffy does something stupid, just came from an episode on Zoo where he shakes a draw bridge and suddenly this music starts - the placement of the OST is completely misguided. Also the character art and animation seems much cheaper and with less soul than it used to be, digital art does not have to be this way though. Gotta say, Wano art at least seems to look better.
Maybe I'm just too old for this series now though who knows.

Yeah, I'm done with One Piece now. The Wano Arc somehow managed to feel very slow and yet incomplete at the same time. It managed to take so long to accomplish so little in the story and character development.

Spoilers 1049 - "yonko" "strongest pirates" for 30+ years, big meme and kaido no awakenings, no defensive techniques just eating punches (well the main characters are also bigger damage sponges). Big meme didn't even bother using conquerors infusion on kidd and law (she only used armament), instead used it on page one to save nami and usopp and damage ulti, she also got rid of that nonsense kazenbo, they get beaten by a bunch of chosen kiddos that unlocked awakening in 1-2 weeks because of "MUH WILLPOWER", the defeat of kaido and the so called yonko crew very anticlmactic, his crew didnt even shown haki at all except who's who lol. Luffy getting 5 powerup a$$pulls out of nowhere, trash writing made for kids, I guess I am too old or did Oda tone down the realistic writing? I didn't mind gear 5 but it went a bit far as well, almost to the point of getting out of the panels and greeting the readers, it will probably happen in the future. TWO EMPERORS , defeated in like 3 hours. I expected luffy and kaido fighting for days (he can skip fighting but still show us fighting only chapters) maybe even weeks around onigashima area, but no just roof top, roof top, roof top, not even fighting in the flower capital for some diversity. Then Kaido gets defeated silently by a big punch, similar to doflamingo, not similar, exactly copy paste the same thing just bigger. Screw this I am gonna write and draw my own version. Also 30 chapters the so called "numbers" running around the castle and some of them getting one shotted, and many other stupid unnecessary plot points. Just awful.

I learnt from Reddit as a former TG reader that when the promises and hype of the story exceeds the quality of the storytelling for at least 2 arcs, the story is basically never getting back to "the good times".
Once shounen fans have been sold a dream they cling onto it for dear life. At that point they are hooked and the hype which was real at one point turns into delusion. In the last stages of the story this turns into copium and that's when you know that hype train is gonna crash. Don't even talk them out at that phase, they won't listen,I know from TG experience - they were damned vicious right near the end. All the signs are there and they will ignore every. single. one. Sadly Shounen fans only learn when the train crashes and they come back down to earth. Then they feel stupid and betrayed and then they turn it to the mangaka (Look at Isayama for a small dose of what's gonna happen in the near future). It's crazy that 20 years of storytelling is going down the toilet but I don't exactly blame Oda. He is a monster with worldbuilding, it's obvious the corporate side of shounen jump and overwork is what wore him down the most.
As of 1049, in my opinion, that has to honestly be the most undeserved and shallow ending i´ve ever seen in One Piece, why should we be exstatic when all the tension went out the window chapters ago? Luffy did not deserve a win, because of the ass-pull powerup that did not have any build-up other than Whos-Who refering to a "Nika" person, and thats it? Kaido, this supposed behemot of strenght, called "The king of beasts, strongest creature on earth" and for a while i thought that to be true, considering he smashed down all the red scabbards and most of the Worst Generation. He beat Luffy three times in a row, Three fucking times and "Apparantly" to fix that, Oda just gave Luffy a random power-up that really underplayed the importance of Wano and the strenght of Kaido. You can disagree if you want to and thats perfectly fine, but this arc (And really the show itself) just fucking killed itself. Not to mention, how the hell do you balance this for further arcs, basically reality warping -likewise with the idea that Luffys will wasn´t his own this whole time?

I actually think that the absolute insane power escalation in this arc is the primary reason why Oda now has to finish One Piece, because there is absolutely no way to continue the series without it literally becoming Dragonball. To me, who was a big fan of One Piece when it came out, this is pretty sad, to be honest. The series has just continuously devolved and since the Fishman Island arc it has basically become a parody of itself. If Oda just hadn't been so greedy, he would have ended the story properly at a way earlier point and not artificially drawn it out to cash up on its success.
Instead of giving Luffy another fucking power up, he could've found a more interesting way of taking Kaido out. He did the exact same thing as in the Luffy/Doflamingo fight (even with the big punch), except worse in every possible way. This has to be the shittiest, messiest and most underwhelming OP arc so far.

Now I will give my reasons for which this arc is BAD.
1) Total lack of tension during the raid. Nobody really questioned the possibility of losing against two yonkos, the alliance believes in Luffy to the point where his victory seems more like when it's going to happen rather than if. This whole fight seemed like a setup for a decisive battle where everyone is really up their breaths, but it turned out to be the final battle itself.
2) No low points during the raid, everything went smooth and easy. Sure, Luffy lost twice, but that had basically no impact on the story and not even on the reader. It took literally one chapter for Luffy to get back up in G5, no tension there whatsoever. I would have loved to see Kaido and the beast pirates getting back up, as it was established in impel down that zoan users gain extreme durability and fast recovery times when awakened, and here awakening wasn't even a thing for the bad guys.
3) Luffy's victory was poorly portayed, nobody even saw him beating Kaido exceppt for Momo and Yamato. Normally everyone gets to see the defeat of the villain, especially the oppressed people of the island, but here everyone just kept partying all night and was not even aware of the danger coming up above them.
4) Zoro's whole storyline was null, this was his arc and he didn't get any particular shine. His moment with Sanji could have been much deeper. We still have no answers for his lineage and his relationship with Ryuuma and the Daimyo of Ringo.
5) Big mom defeated by Kidd and Law, who had no real relationship with her to begin with. Kidd's animosity for Kaido brought to nothing, plus Big Mom really had to be beated by Luffy because that's what was the setup since the beginning of the new world and through WCI.
6) Many loose threads like Big Mom's pirates, Zunisha coming to Wano for doing absolutely nothing, Wano is a very special place but we do not know why, Kaido's backstory is still a mystery, what is Caribou even doing here and so on. Some of this may still be answered in the next chapters, but you can't really answer everything at the end imo.
7) Yamato is the worst character even written in One Piece, I don't even have to explain why.
8) Momo's storyline ended in the most stupid way possible. Instead of heroicaly keeping the island on his shoulders above the people of Wano mirroring his father's feats we fucking got "come forth, flame clouds"
I think I may go on all day. This arc is pretty bad till chapter 1051, but with the conclusion we got after that it's pure bullshit. I loved this series for years and I still love it, I just can't believe this ending and this poor writing decisions coming from Oda, a man who never disappointed the readers and always succeded in surpassing the expectations. Yu have not to know him and all the previous arcs for somewhat enjoying Wano and not seeing its flaws.
There are multiple instances where Luffy sacrificed his lifespans in order to be stronger. Therefore, the point where he keeps getting back even though he was defeated is valid. Other characters would not be willing to do the same thing to keep fighting, they just accepted defeated. We have to wait in the end to see whether or not Luffy suffered from his shortened lifespan before making a valid conclusion.
The pacing has ruined One Piece for me. I fucking hate how many stupid flashbacks, backstories and crappy sub character fights make the fights so damn slow. I’ve skipped most of the Wano arc just to be disappointed by the Kaido fight. Big Mom was just there for the cannon fodder.
Wano is going to have 200 episodes by the end of the arc. Its not close to ending at all. One Piece has basically turned into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in Onigashima.

I agree, as a long time one piece watcher (started watching at the start of Dressrosa), the Wano arc is objectively the most boring snooze-fest in one piece, most of the one piece episodes these days include the character chatting some random bullshit that doesn't have any relevance, and then have like 1 or 2 seconds of fighting, and the most interesting characters have 0 screen time, this shit got me skipping some episodes cause they talk way too much, and it's not interesting tbh

The last time OP was amazing was marineford. Pre timeskip as a whole was fantastic. Super disappointing what has become of this series. We’re too far into the series to drop it though. So much time has been invested into it that I gotta see how it ends. Just one more saga.

The animation of Wano is strange, so backwards, so annoying, so over the top, overly saturated with colour, it officially KILLED the series off for me. Yeah you heard that right. The anime actually killed the manga for me. Well, that and Oda's terrible writing. I watched/read all of one piece to caught up to wano. All the hyping people did WAS DISAPPOINTMENT. Act 1 and 2 were decent where nothing too good. Act 3 starts of good with the oden flashback. But falls off with the messy raid. The oden flashbacks during the raid is ANNOYING! STOP WITH THE FAKE DEATHS GODDAMN IT! The raid barely got me hyped. The only thing that got me hype was Sanji and zoro tag team attack and sanjis awakening. Anyone who says wano is peak doesn't know what are they talking about.

im catching up with the show now. I started one piece like 7 months ago and just finished dressrosa. Im curious on wano tho. And im not so sure if i will believe you. People called Dressrosa "annoying" too or talked about the infamous "dressrosa fatique". Couldnt rly confirm this. The arc was phenomenal. Probably not on sabaody-marineford level... but after that? Pretty much the second best arc in the show. (yes, better than water 7 + enies. Which i found both pretty mid). On the other hand, i agree with most people that fishman island was.... uhm... not that great.
Hey to be honest with you Luffy did have character development. Luffy knows endure new sorrows; Luffy learns to not cling onto the past; he learned to be more creative with his power; he learnt to push people to their future, such as Momonosuke; he learns about cherishing his friends more than ever. Also remember that all of that power wasn't just handed to him. He fought enemies, getting stronger and learning more each battle and don't forget those 2 years of harsh training. However, Gear 5... Oda's just spoiling him.

In manga, Wano Arc is probably the best One Piece arc, at least after timeskip. In anime, it's just become another arc. Pacing is killing it. You can probably count how many times toei play same scene in different episode. The worst part when Queen use his poison bullets to turn everybody to zombie. Man, this moment is full of bad pacing.
