The big issue is that there is too many characters, too many plot threads, which creates this weird dynamic where things feel rushed because he's jumping between all these plot lines, but it also feels like it's dragging because nothing is moving forward.
Hope this will change from the next arc onwards. Reduce the cast, more focus to the strawhats, more focused storyline. That’s all Oda needs to do and it will be good. And since the scabbards are gone now I’m hoping for that to happen.
I hope we can get away from these Epic War Arcs. WCI might still be the best Post-TS arc to me because the cast was small and intimate. Everybody had their moment while the arc was constantly moving forward
Even more baffling how cookie cutter the story is. We're literally told point for point a plan, then exactly that takes place, except the caveat is it takes place over 2 years of time. Why waste so many chapters on superfluous stuff if the plot isn't even surprising or engaging? It's just boring and wasteful at that point. I felt almost no emotional attachment to anything here.
CP0 hands down has been so disappointing as antagonists and as characters. They've got this air of mystery and are supposed to be this ultra clever and powerful secret government group that surpasses CP9 but I feel absolutely nothing from anything they've done in Wano aside from them keeping track of the battle field's troop numbers. It sucks too, because I love CP9 and if Oda was hyping someone up to be even better, then I was on board. I didn't get excited when Jinbei "joined" back in fishman cause I knew it would take years before anything happened. I don't get hype for Shanks showing up because I already know nothing is going to happen. I legit didn't get excited about Tama, Yamato, Carrot any of them because it'll years to get a concrete answer. But thank god he can give Fuga screen time and we know why he has animal legs. Ten more years of this and then maybe we'll get relevant plot back to back and not over years.

Strawhat’s not having their proper time to shine like they all did in enies lobby (the size of the crew probs also makes this harder as well). Yamato with no character development, introduced as wanting to be Oden, with no acknowledgement of being Yamato who can simply carry Oden’s Will. To put simply: Wano had the highest of high’s, but the lowest of lows. Perhaps they cancel each out and the arc is a 5/10. Or perhaps you find the positives outweighing the negatives (6+/10)

Oda has a lot of influence over his story since it's so successful, and he effectively dropped plot points and had to pad the story with filler to make deadlines. But I wonder if the ultimate cope for Wano's quality is that the sales were going down, which has worse implications when you consider the marketing behind it, so Shonen Jump pushed him to wrap it up and get to the final arc?

because fixing the smile fruits effectively means to alter one's genetic makeup (lineage factor), it's not a sickness. The smile fruit literally altered the host's genes to be like that. Having Chopper fix that would pretty much mean he would be able to remove a devil fruit from it's host without killing said host.

Wano was a shambles, I'd say dressrosa is style the best arc post time skip. Oda fumbled hard, a story that was going on for more than 10year feels lack luster compared to shorter stories. All that build up for Kaido, big mom, zoro, the beast commanders (especially queen) the scabbards, boring fights, no good action a lot of highs but the lows are as deep as earth's core, and don't even get me started with Yamato and her fake identity , the most useless character in the whole serie just there for creeps to have eye candy. Everyone except luffy underperformed if not in strength in storylines. Oda does this same shit over and over again, indicating than a certain character will have a character arc then he ends up giving it to Luffy. The only good parts of wano were flashbacks and chapters checking in with the rest of the world. there were hype moments during the raid... but then you realize all the "stakes"' are artificial. Nothing became of the Ice Oni, nothing became of the side effects of the Zoa medicine Zoro took or his vision of death, Sanji flip flops on his character development regarding his family, Luffy gets KO'd 3 times and gets back up, but Kaido gets KO'd once and is down for WEEKS, Law got washed by Doffy a month ago and Kid lost an arm to Shanks, but they defeat Big Mom. I could go on and on
Enies Lobby starts feeling like a joke given what we know now. We know CP0 supposedly existed at the time. We know that reading the poneglyphs is required to find the One Piece (via 4 Road Poneglyphs). We know the WG are aware that Yonkos want Robin. So Robin's bounty and importance should have been way higher, and an Admiral (and CP0) should have been there. But none of them were there. You just have to shrug your shoulders at still enjoy it.
I think since she was part of the strawhat crew at the time and there was no indication that any of the yonko were after her (which is true no yonko were after her until wano arc) the WG figured she wasn't that a big threat cuz the strawhats at the time were not a big threat at all. They were quite weak and didn't even know haki. So it kinda makes sense they figured they can take out that crew with CP9. But when the strawhats became a yonko crew her bounty goes up massively so it makes sense imo.

I appreciate ice oni for Chopper, i was anticipating he'd have to deal with a Queen virus again tbh. Marco and Mink doctors helping out was good too. Buuuuuuuut, that shit absolutely overstayed its welcome for me personally, and the Hyogoro section of it... I both like but dont. On the one hand, Prime Hyogoro's a boss.... Literally but also figuratively. On the other hand, it snuffed us out of seeing Orochi's ninja and samurai in action more which couldve led to a few quick but impactful fights from various side characters i wanted to see, like Law or Kid's key members, the other yakuza bosses who while helpful for recruiting troops just... Stood there in the raid. Or maybe even to give the scabbards that had nothing to do after getting healed some action. In fact, taking both the samurai and ninja into account, i think there's enough of them to do all that. But i guess Oda never really gave non strawhats much shine like that in other arcs, and while it would've been nice to make this an exception with how many players are here, i get having so many players is biggest factor for not doing it

because fixing the smile fruits effectively means to alter one's genetic makeup (lineage factor), it's not a sickness. The smile fruit literally altered the host's genes to be like that. Having Chopper fix that would pretty much mean he would be able to remove a devil fruit from it's host without killing said host.
All the talk about "betrayal" was totally dropped. So many things could have happened. But very few amazing thing happened
The Samurai litterally got betrayed by one of their own though. It just didn’t cause any issues that caused actual problems for them though.

Wano was a shambles, I'd say dressrosa is style the best arc post time skip. Oda fumbled hard, a story that was going on for more than 10year feels lack luster compared to shorter stories. All that build up for Kaido, big mom, zoro, the beast commanders (especially queen) the scabbards, boring fights, no good action a lot of highs but the lows are as deep as earth's core, and don't even get me started with Yamato and her fake identity , the most useless character in the whole serie just there for creeps to have eye candy. Everyone except luffy underperformed if not in strength in storylines. Oda does this same shit over and over again, indicating than a certain character will have a character arc then he ends up giving it to Luffy. Whole cake was suppose to be Sango time to shine after all that clounish shit his been doing, but oda didn't even give him a major fight and then OP apologists will say "it was about his character", oh my bad I thought I was watching an action Shonen instead of kdrama. If this was zoros arc then we've been watching Luffy piece and it's no different than Naruto and dragon Ball

The only good parts of wano were flashbacks and chapters checking in with the rest of the world. there were hype moments during the raid... but then you realize all the "stakes"' are artificial. Nothing became of the Ice Oni, nothing became of the side effects of the Zoa medicine Zoro took or his vision of death, Sanji flip flops on his character development regarding his family, Luffy gets KO'd 3 times and gets back up, but Kaido gets KO'd once and is down for WEEKS, Law got washed by Doffy a month ago and Kid lost an arm to Shanks, but they defeat Big Mom. I could go on and on

Enies Lobby starts feeling like a joke given what we know now. We know CP0 supposedly existed at the time. We know that reading the poneglyphs is required to find the One Piece (via 4 Road Poneglyphs). We know the WG are aware that Yonkos want Robin. So Robin's bounty and importance should have been way higher, and an Admiral (and CP0) should have been there. But none of them were there. You just have to shrug your shoulders at still enjoy it.
I think since she was part of the strawhat crew at the time and there was no indication that any of the yonko were after her (which is true no yonko were after her until wano arc) the WG figured she wasn't that a big threat cuz the strawhats at the time were not a big threat at all. They were quite weak and didn't even know haki. So it kinda makes sense they figured they can take out that crew with CP9. But when the strawhats became a yonko crew her bounty goes up massively so it makes sense imo.

I appreciate ice oni for Chopper, i was anticipating he'd have to deal with a Queen virus again tbh. Marco and Mink doctors helping out was good too. Buuuuuuuut, that shit absolutely overstayed its welcome for me personally, and the Hyogoro section of it... I both like but dont. On the one hand, Prime Hyogoro's a boss.... Literally but also figuratively. On the other hand, it snuffed us out of seeing Orochi's ninja and samurai in action more which couldve led to a few quick but impactful fights from various side characters i wanted to see, like Law or Kid's key members, the other yakuza bosses who while helpful for recruiting troops just... Stood there in the raid. Or maybe even to give the scabbards that had nothing to do after getting healed some action. In fact, taking both the samurai and ninja into account, i think there's enough of them to do all that.
But i guess Oda never really gave non strawhats much shine like that in other arcs, and while it would've been nice to make this an exception with how many players are here, i get having so many players is biggest factor for not doing it
Lol if y'all manga readers got a problem with wano arc, don't watch the anime. The negatives of the arc are only amplified in anime, even tho the relevant action (fights involving strawhats particularly) is better. Just watch the anime for the fights pretty much anything else is a mental drain...
