12:46 i probally would of brought up nightmare luffy at this point as well cause its litrally the moments that signifies this with luffy fighting against a pure happy go lucky version of himself in oars while he is the most hyper serious version of himself in the series (also a nightmare huh that the opposite of a dream)

I find it interesting too that Nightmare Luffys power and demeanor come from literally absorbing the ambitions and dreams of strangers. Their power helps push him forward, in the same way that his power ultimately frees them.

The thought that oda put into wano shines even more with your analysis. Wano to some might feel “rushed” but when you take into account the care he put into the parallels, character moments, and insights I think it’s worth it. This video highlighted things I noticed in wano and showed me things I missed after reading it great video!!

@@palemeadows unrealistic expectations and headcanon theory. When Oda does not fulfill those desires, they whine and either purposefully or not, use bad faith criticisms to misrepresent the arc. I remember when during the first two acts of Wano everyone was still on the honeymoon phase, hyping it up as peak. But when it ended, suddenly it's "bad". I genuinely think the 2 main turning point of people shift of opinion is when the raid didn't fail, and when Yamato didn't join the crew. Another possible one is when Gear 5th isn't this super cool edgy form. Like people legit has no issue when Luffy was told to be Joyboy one chapter before the reveal, but the moment it was revealed and the epithet Sun God was given, suddenly people had issue with the "chosen one" troupe. Retroactive hate has become a trend with anything popularly celebrated lately. Even now, we're already seeing people trying to argue that Egghead is bad actually cause it was highly praised and it did not meet those fans' expectations/headcanons.

It pales in comparison with the drama that transpired during the Whole Cake Island arc. And WCI arc isn't even the most dramatic arc in One Piece. The number of fake out deaths (Kinemon having the most, if not the most ridiculous fake out death in One Piece history) is very appalling. And what's funny is because the actual deaths doesn't even feel anything. All the Strawhat fights are inferior compared to their best fights yet. There's a ridiculously large amount of plot holes, even from a One Piece standard. The walking turd that is Yamato (arguably one of the worst characterization in One Piece, a series know for having great supporting characters). Luffy's fruit being revealed to be a chosen one fruit, which diminishes any notion of competition for the status of Pirate King. Forced appearance of Shanks in Wano (just for the film Red marketing; not necessarily bad if not for the fact that his characterization during that appearance is very weak). The worst introduction and characterization of an Admiral. Having the most confusing and conflicting thematic conclusion in any One Piece arc. One of the weakest finishing moves in terms of writing. Overall, relatively the weakest writing in any One Piece arc. And that's still just half of its many problems. It established so much that it failed to delivered most of what it promised. Already celebrating their victory even before the fight? Also, making Luffy embarrass both Yonkou during their supposed first real fight? (Have you seen their scared and shocked faces when Luffy casually walked between them? What a way to increase the stake and tension of the arc (not).

The issue with wano is that none of the characters saved the two girls Yamato are likeable.
So who care about the country where everyone is unlikable.
Even momonosuke is the worst princess archetypes.
Vivis flaw was her refusing to see her refusing to allows others to risk their lives
    Nami refused to trust
    Mermaid was a crybaby
Rebecca decided to do thing herself
    Sanji needed to value himself
Momonosuke was still the same arrogant coward at the start and at the end Yamato pretty much made him do everything in the fight against kaido because he was pointless

    • @muhammadfaridizzuddin
      @muhammadfaridizzuddin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Saying Momo is the same is craaaazy. You should reread again. Like dude he's a literal child, what do you expect. But the dude literally grow more mature by the end of the arc and is more humble. Not fully, but still significantly more mature and less arrogant than his beginning self.
Also, unlikable characters? You're allowed to have opinion and entitled to them, but I guess that's why you called yourself dumb huh? Cause no way that you think Yamato is the only likeable one. If anything Yamato is the least likeable cause the only reason people like her so much is cause of the superficial self-insert aspects about her (Being Kaido's son, connection with Ace, super strong, etc...). Everything about her that's likeable stems from external factors. Nothing about her actual personality or backstory are worth noting about. She's not bad, but definitely mid and the least interesting one from the Wano casts. Meanwhile from the get go we're literally introduced to the goat Yasuie. But also Oden, the nine scabbards, like you mentioned the two girls, some older casts from WCI and Zou, Big Mom, Kaido and Tsuru. All of them are super likeable or at least was clearly written to be sympathetic and likeable. Ashura Doji was losing hope but still made many sacrifices and help collect weapons to prepare for the raid regardless. Then proceed to sacrifice himself to save his friend.

    • @dumbidea1007
      @dumbidea1007 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@muhammadfaridizzuddin yamoto is indeed the only likable one in the adult.
And it's not because of her background it's because shes the only one with the balls to deny kaido.
Shes not as badass as luffy who would have left even with the bomb strap in his neck but still pretty cool.
Only kinemon amongst the 9 is worth remembering
The others are made out of pure boredom.
And even there kinemon is really an acquires taste
Even the ninja women is annoying as f and when she blame laws crew of being traitors because shes too stupid to clean her own home.
To the point when we realize the second longent scarab that we know is a traitor the general reaction of everyone was
      "ok who care"
Momonosuke didn't grow at all during the arc.
Yamato had to force him to do pretty much all he did.
Yeah the smiling guy was ok I forgot about him but everyone else was trash
And mononosuke had to be begged by kinemon to ask for help and even then he was still a prick.
The kid girls are the only purely likable character

It’s a blatantly pretty messy and indulgent arc with numerous intrinsic issues, but you’ve seemed to find a way to always conjure up a positive spin on every element of what Oda’s writing. Years ago I supported you against BestGuyEver’s reductive criticisms of Whole Cake Island, but I think you’ve found a way to convey almost what’s functionally the opposite form of praise. Like it’s just as forced and simplistic in its own way.

I enjoyed the video until you got to the part about fate. I didn't enjoy it because, you didn't seem well read in the philosophical concept in which you are dealing with. When discussing the reactions of people from different cultures of fate in media, you shouldn't only pull up media which feature it, but the philosophical structures which in form the societies which we exist in now. Determinism vs Free Will, and, if you wanna talk about the bourgeois christian conceptions and reactions to it, you would need to talk about the historical arguments Christian theologians have had about fate and determinism, and, its roots in Plato. You would then need to talk about eastern conceptions of fate: Shintoism and Daoism specifically. And, you would need to finally talk about the modern scientific and philosophical debates around fate. Of Nature vs Nurture,. of humans born of our material conditions, unaccountable for our actions, as people who are rational actors, or not, and, the nature of the Gheist. The will of history, and the realization of man.
I just felt that part of the video was very shallow, but, then again, asking for a wide ranging discussion of philosophy in a One Piece video is quite the tall order.
Thank you for making what you made, its good as it is!

For me one of the worst arcs I have ever watched in entertainment media even in fiction as whole
Repetitive, sluggish, predictable, poorly written dialogues, absence of danger thanks to the comedy elements, the comedy is childish
I couldn’t even force myself to continue watching I don’t care what happens in it anymore I better watch something that respects my time and offer some value and entertainment for me
I used to adore one piece but as I grow older and consume more adult anime it became apparent to me the many flaws this story has
If you want something that has a really mature tone you better watch anime like Perfect Blue, Only Yesterday, Berserk (1997), Ghost in the shell (1995)
