When Alantis came out with her first album of this genre "Jagged Little Pill back in 1995. She went from obscurity to fame almost overnight and it was a lot for her personally. She's a very reserved personality who uses her music to express herself. She writes basically all of her songs with producers, but after her jagged little pill almost 2 years touring straight with very little brakes it drained everything from her. She became depressed at her career hight as she couldn't do anything everywhere she went she was recognized globally and it was just a lot mentally for her. And so when they tour stop, she went to India by herself and it was the first time she could walk around everywhere and nobody knew who she was. She could just be Alanis and she found that it slowly brought her back to life and helped her start to confront her demons. And that's where India comes in. So she's thinking all the events that are happening in her life and how the were making her better and the nudity is her giving a visual representation of rebirth, being vulnerability and her shedding and starting again like a new born baby. So a lot of symbolism in the song, so yes, you're correct. She's thanking all these painful things in her journey she's done and experienced and saying though they're painful. I raised seven kids and my baby just turned 24. A couple of years ago she moved to south Korea I was like oh my God they are on there own now and raised and not here. She’s back in town now but that was the longest year of my life not laying eyes on here when she was out of the country and my oldest son I haven’t seen in about eight years. It eats at my heart but he’s in a different state with a family of his own working and doing life. I miss all my baby’s so much. Enjoy it all the crying the diapers the fighting that your girls will have one day but love every second because it’s only for a little while. Life moves on.

Unfortunately I think that after she lost the angst, and after the novelty of her second album, her career fizzled out. Rock music relies on anger and passion, and spiritual awakening doesn’t translate well to pop music. Those first two albums are an incredible journey, though. They really exemplify a spiritual journey of a human being.

I tear up every time at "how good it feels to finally forgive you." Nothing feels better than letter old hurt go, forgiveness is more for the forgiver than forgiven. And then "how bout unabashedly balling your eyes out" we, especially men at worst are taught its some great macho thing to never cry, and at best hold back and might allow a tear out now and then. But when you are at your lowest, nothing is better than the catharsiss of a good, hard, unapologetic, ugly cry. Getting out the rage and sadness is cleansing and a huge dopamine hit.

I have been a huge fan of Alanis since she was a teen, here in Canada, and had a pop music career. She had a few hits, like Too Hot, and a video with a very young, pre-Friends, Matt LeBlanc, video called Walk Away. She is incredible. Actually even before that, I watched her on a Canadian tv show called You Can't Do That on Television.
My best frienda took me to see her in concert at the Pyrimid in Memphis Tennessee when I first opened. She is Awesome live! It was the Jagged Little Pill tour. This is probably my favorite Alanis song out of all her greats. So much about the accountability and self-awareness and yes, living in the moment. She had recently gone to India and many do for a spiritual mecca, as the Beatles did. It’s about becoming a healthy person as a goal. This whole album was in this theme. Yes, being naked is about being vulnerable, what the lyrics spoke to, being brave and vulnerable. Actually, That I Would Be Good, is even more poignant/powerful.
I studied abroad in India the year after this song came out. It was a life changing trip, and very formative to my life perspective. In this song, she nails the impact of India on a person who wants to see and learn.
P.S. - In the 90s they sent you to India with a prescription of antibiotics for when you inevitably got an infection from food or water hosting unfamiliar bacteria.

Another female you need to check out is CAROL KING. She started as a song writer in the 50's and 60's... Wrote some of the most famous and well loved songs. By the 1970's , she got up the courage to put out an album of herself singing her own songs.. amazing!

I tear up every time at "how good it feels to finally forgive you." Nothing feels better than letter old hurt go, forgiveness is more for the forgiver than forgiven. And then "how bout unabashedly balling your eyes out" we, especially men at worst are taught its some great macho thing to never cry, and at best hold back and might allow a tear out now and then. But when you are at your lowest, nothing is better than the catharsiss of a good, hard, unapologetic, ugly cry. Getting out the rage and sadness is cleansing and a huge dopamine hit.

I have been a huge fan of Alanis since she was a teen, here in Canada, and had a pop music career. She had a few hits, like Too Hot, and a video with a very young, pre-Friends, Matt LeBlanc, video called Walk Away. She is incredible. Actually even before that, I watched her on a Canadian tv show called You Can't Do That on Television.

My best frienda took me to see her in concert at the Pyrimid in Memphis Tennessee when I first opened. She is Awesome live! It was the Jagged Little Pill tour. She played every instrament on that stage! She sang my favorite song last, You Learn is my life story. I wish you would do a reaction to that song. You would like it. It has a good story to it. ❤

I love her more recent The Reasons I Drink, as well as You Learn, and All I Really Want from 1995. They really are beautiful examples of her writing. The live Uninvited is truly an experience.

not long ago you were talkinig about Fleetwood Mac Stevie Nicks is the main Female lead singer but the other female lead was Christine McVie she is on so many of their songs and had a beautiful voice. The song "Songbird" is Christine singing and playing piano solo and is hauntingly beautiful and hits even harder since she passed away last year. Try listening to it sometime

I think she realized that life gives you the lessons you need to heal and instead of being a victim she empowered herself ❤ but in order to do this you have to peel away the layers and get down to raw vulnerability …in hindsight she’s very grateful because it was all for healing 🙏🕊

This is probably my favorite Alanis song out of all her greats. So much about the accountability and self-awareness and yes, living in the moment. She had recently gone to India and many do for a spiritual mecca, as the Beatles did. It’s about becoming a healthy person as a goal. This whole album was in this theme. Yes, being naked is about being vulnerable, what the lyrics spoke to, being brave and vulnerable. Actually, That I Would Be Good, is even more poignant/powerful.

I studied abroad in India the year after this song came out. It was a life changing trip, and very formative to my life perspective. In this song, she nails the impact of India on a person who wants to see and learn.
P.S. - In the 90s they sent you to India with a prescription of antibiotics for when you inevitably got an infection from food or water hosting unfamiliar bacteria.
