My favorite Alanis song! To me, it's learning that the hardships you go through shape and mold you into who you become - it's accepting that the suffering you've endured helped to mold you into the person you are. It's an enlightened perspective, and I love the sound of it!
After the huge success she gained from Jagged Little Pill, the craziness of the music business, she wanted grounding and went to India, "thank you India" and gained some perspective.
I feel the same way about Alanis. She was the first woman singer that didn't apologize for being angry but embraced it. As a teenager that really made an impression on me.
@@feminist5641 it is always refreshing to see a woman that realizes that men and women are not the same nor put on the Earth for the same purposes and are in no way interchangeable and embraces her femininity. We are in no way equal…women are better. That is why, as a “Masculinist”, I do all I can to see to that which the farer sex is not capable .Alanis seems to understand and embrace what is true rather than what she wishes were true, I have been a big fan since she made the leap from “ teen pop” to “Alternative “ in the early 90s
This song was inspired by her first trip to India as a retreat after going on tour to promote her first album Jagged Little Pill which was a multi million selling album and the tour was a great success as well. But it was a very demanding and stressful tour. During her trip in India she discovered meditation and had her spiritual awakening and became more spiritually conscious. She was naked to show her vulnerability and the people who came up to her and touched her showed her their support by doing that. React to her song Head Over Feet please.
Thank you Asia and BJ! I love your reactions. It’s nice to see someone really listen to the lyrics on this one. So many reactors are so focused on the fact that she’s naked that they hardly listen to the song. And without the words, they don’t get the symbolism of the visuals either. It’s really nice to see someone finding her for the first time and appreciating her music. She was an empowering figure in 90s music.
it's about letting go, death of ego and being ultimately present, grateful and in flow with the universe. Also, how our darkest moments are moments of lessons if we allow them to be. It's about ultimate acceptance and vulnerability.
Her song can be like a detox, she help with me. I agreed with you guys about the song, but also I she was thanking the bitter part of life teach you, and life his sweeter.
Alanis and her massive debut recording Jagged Little Pill created a hysteria about her and she was catapulted into the spotlight with massive touring and insanity. As an actually more shy want, the business and the touring all got to her woth the buzz, game and success. Alanis was a performer as a child and teen but she experienced nothing like her success with Jagged Little Pill. She got off the merry go round so to speak, took a trip to India which she found enlightening. She then let go of her prior relationship and a lot of emotions about the past to move forward. She's an amazing singer and songwriter, she always tells a story and life's truths.
I love Alanis! Next do 'Uninvited' - a deep, dark song. It's wonderful. And for a song you'll see Alanis at her most happy and herself in love is called 'Everthing'
Y’all are both so right about this song! It’s about being vulnerable and allowing yourself to get to the point where you can look back and have gratitude for even the worst things because it brought you to that moment. Contentment. IYKYK
Alanis is so Incredible!!! I'm so glad you watched the video because it really gives more to the song and you feel the words she sings. It's a Gorgeous song! Asia your laugh is so Awesome and Contagious! It's Great!! Keep smiling Girl!!
After she became a huge hit and things got crazy, she needed to calm herself and get back to what's real in the world. She's thanking all of the things that helped her. And I think that maybe people are touching her either to heal her or be healed by her. She's a hell of a songwriter and singer...goes without saying. She has some great new stuff too.
Sarah McLaughlin "POSSESSION" (original video). EXCELLENT song ❤️. The lyrics are from her stalker's letters to her. He was sentenced to prison for it but he committed suicide first. She turned the letters into the lyrics of the song and its REALLY good (strangely enough). Brave girl. She refused to be bullied. 🙌
It's ultimately about dealing with trauma and accepting the good and the bad, because it's what makes you who you are. It's about self-acceptance and forgiveness. Even the terrible events in our lives teach us something and contribute to the person we are.
Asia and BJ, lets go back to the 1990s! Fiona apple, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, garbage, Janet Jackson, Joan Osborne, TLC and more Alanis… What a great time it was!😊😊😊
I love how both of you really feel and understand music, you really get it and go straight to the heart of it. I'd really love for you to do a reaction to Aurora singing her song 'through the eyes of a child' live at Nidarosdomen in Norway, it's an ancient cathedral and her singing is just...no words, it'll really get you in a good way. I know you probably only do reactions for members and I don't want a reaction for me, I want you both to hear that song. So if you have a free 5 mins please listen just for yourselves, it's food for your soul: )
She's grateful for all the things good and bad and all the places she's been too. And her being naked is being vulnerable and real , They have bought her to the person she is today , it's also about just letting go , and forgiving yourself x
It feels like she’s actually giving thanks to her own personal struggles. Like finding the meaning out of suffering, which is a huge step in evolving as a human being because it’s so so hard to achieve that. 🙏🏼💖
As a young man I just thought Alanis was crazy for doing this video. The meaning of the song and the vulnerability she was displaying in this video went right over my head and only years and years later did I have the life experience to get it. It's a beautiful song.
another very reflective song from her is "that i would be good", which is about putting getting to a place where no matter what happens to you, but or small, you are still OK. a beautiful song :).
Such an amazing song, one of my favorites from her. Thank you for everything, good or bad. All this has made me who I am, helped me grow and continue to grow. The mistakes are learning points and very necessary. Don't hold it all in. So much to absorb from this song.
A GREAT video of hers to react to is the song "Uninvited-Live in the Navajo Nation". But make sure you also add on the behind the scenes clips before and after as it really gives context to how absolutely moving her music is and how she blends her spiritual elements so beautifully with other cultures.
Great reaction video guys. Asia, she really had your undivided attention. My take is that everything in life has meaning and your personal experiences are all intended for your growth. Be thankful for it all, without exception. She is thankful after visiting India, experiencing silence and the clarifying thoughts that so often flow with it.
She is definitely one of those rare artists whose writing matches the depth of her voice. I've always seen this song as an acknowledgment That literally every experience we have teaches us something. The lessons themselves might be good or bad and what they teach us might also be good or bad. And humanity lies in the struggle of figuring out which is which.
Alanis is a gem that hasn't been named yet this particular song I believe was written after Alanis went to India and was introduced to kids that are hungry most of the time
I have to say it's one of her better songs. I always saw it as being thankful for all of you. Warts and all. Acknowledge your failures. Make peace with those who have wronged you and give solace to those who you have wronged. Love yourself and in that learn to love others and be loved.
I love this single from this album......but "Joining You" is beyond powerful as well. Down a rabbit hole of Asia and Bj reactions. I love your reactions, and how you listen to music from all over the spectrum. And I love your discussions of the songs. A new subscriber here. Don't stop. You all are amazing reactors.
This was written after her trip to India and really discovering herself with meditation.
She definitely knows how to produce "food for thought"
She blows me away ...
My favorite Alanis song! To me, it's learning that the hardships you go through shape and mold you into who you become - it's accepting that the suffering you've endured helped to mold you into the person you are. It's an enlightened perspective, and I love the sound of it!
My fav as well ❤
After the huge success she gained from Jagged Little Pill, the craziness of the music business, she wanted grounding and went to India, "thank you India" and gained some perspective.
My sweeeeet Alanis again!!!
🥰😘😘😘😘 Loooove her
THANK YOU!???
Consciously having gratitude will change the color of the life you are presently experiencing in a good way
I consider myself to be a very strong woman. I believe I owe lots of it to Alanis. Thanks guys for reacting to her, she's worth it 👌
..this song always made me sad about getting older...and I was in my 30s then...now in my 50s...still sad about it.
I feel the same way about Alanis. She was the first woman singer that didn't apologize for being angry but embraced it. As a teenager that really made an impression on me.

There are other virtues women should strive for besides “strength.”
You're kidding...!!!

React to her song Head Over Feet please.
And she’s touring again this summer. She’s so fantabulous live in concert. Love your channel
I saw her live. It was really great.
Got tickets to two of her Ontario dates already, considering going for the hat trick.
Awesome! Thank you!
Saw her at the O2 London last week Fucking awesome.
Saw her last night in Milwaukee. This was her final song. She was fantabulous
Asia & BJ, her "Ironic", "Head Over Feet" and "You Learn" are next for you!!
I'd add in "Hands clean".
You should see her on tonight show singing to her daughter will melt you 😁
This song still feels so pure & emotional
Thank you Asia and BJ! I love your reactions. It’s nice to see someone really listen to the lyrics on this one. 👍 She was one artist that improved that sound of 90's music!
I agree with you 100% , Alanis writing really is amazing and how she pens her lyrics really makes you think and feel.
Her song can be like a detox, she help with me. I agreed with you guys about the song, but also I she was thanking the bitter part of life teach you, and life his sweeter.
You did Alanis? Does Brad know about this? (Inside joke from another channel, some will get this)
Oh yeah I got it.
Got it. I do prefer BJ'S take of a song than Brad's though.🙂
😂 🙋🏻♀️yep!!
🤣🤣
Yes i Got it!😂

Morissette Amon's father's favorite singer. He loves her so much he named his daughter after her
She's amazingly introspective and a musical genius. Love her to pieces.

She has the most amazing vocals . It’s perfection
When this song first came out I enjoyed the music. Having grown older I appreciate the lyrics. Her personal spiritual growth in a song. Just wow.
Safe to say my fave Alanis tune. Just love it.

I agree totally but it's McLachlan. You should really take a listen!
Ooops, I should've typed "McLachlan"
Alanis is a brilliant song writer... i lovvvve her
I like her.I appreciate her uniqueness.

I LOVE HER VOICE SHOUT OUT ALANIS MORISSETTE!
Just love her , I agree she makes you feel it ❣️
SHE'S ANGELIC
The production on her music has a really unique mixture of organic sounds and things that sound like electronic percussion, or loops and such...
Of all the songs ever written in the history of the world, this is my favorite.
Baring her soul to the world in melody.
One of my favourite song ever pure gold
Very talented woman....
What a songwriter!
Another great one! Love the entire album! 💖💙✌️
I’d completely forgotten about this song. Her stuff is soooo good. Thanks for this.

Excellent observation. Thank you life

She was so before her time. And never got the proper credit. 99s kid here. She will always be legend
I have to say it's one of her better songs. I always saw it as being thankful for all of you. Warts and all. Acknowledge your failures. Make peace with those who have wronged you and give solace to those who you have wronged. Love yourself and in that learn to love others and be loved.

Please react to RIGHT THROUGH YOU.
It's my favorite song off of JAGGED LITTLE PILL.
