Thanks for watching!
I sat in one at the Washington DC Auto show. Everyone wanted to sit in it and people kept taking pics. Lexus knows its fanbase really well, if you do get one. Keep it till the wheels fall off
I wish the ride quality was a little better
It's great in elements / off road (minimal testing there)
But just a little better ride quality for daily drive would go a long way.
@@danielmiller9012if u wish better ride quality, u probably shouldn’t be looking at off road cars. A proper suv, not truck like, maybe good options
I've read this comments multiple times on different videos
@@danielmiller9012based off your personal experience?
The v6 has been known to grenading itself recently but hopefully that gets fixed
Hands down the best exterior of 2024
For Japanese products, yes.
nope
Looks blend for the price.

Range rover
a mixture of classic and modern! very practical and very simple to use
Love this GX body style !!!!
I was getting the range rover commander. This truck changed my mind. Thanks!
The commander will breakdown within the first 50k. You made the right decision
love the visibility and the mirrors
This might already be car of the year for 2024
Incredible luxury and power combo!
Спасибо.

Лексусу gx не нужно разделение на комплеатации.
Большинство тех, у кого есть gx460 хотят в 550 видеть то же самое.
I have ve a '23 gx460 & the only way i would even consider upgrading to a 550 is if the offered e-kdss,18" wheels, heated & cooled seats/steering as options on the other trims.
They do, the overtrail has ekdss, 18 inch wheels with off road tyres, massaging heated and cooled seats, rear+center locking diff, CRAWL etc
I said, OTHER trims. I know overtrail has all the goodies
@@sheldonc7412 oops
Thank you for mentioning no kdss. Other youtubers are reluctant to mention that maybe Lexus dont want them to mention it.
It’s on the over trail
@@madclone84 only on overtrail plus
I sat in a TX at the dealer and it surprisingly doesn’t feel like it has that much more space in the second and third rows than this. I’d go for the GX any day even for a family car
Lexus GX 3rd row absolutely sucks and the cargo space is non existent when the 3rd row is up. If you need cargo space and the 3rd row the GX will be a mistake.
@@be4unvme I sat in the 3rd row of the TX at the dealer and the space isn’t much more than than the GX 3rd row despite it not being a body in frame vehicle which was surprising to me. I was expecting much more space.
KDSS being standard previously was great on the GX. It not being available on this $80k version is an odd choice by Lexus.
Well this is the Luxury +, not necessarily designed to go off-road so it doesn’t particularly need to disconnect its sway bars
@@alwaysiyi272 that's not the only point. Having ekdss allows it to have much thicker sway bars which helps keep it stable in turns while still having travel. With the non-overtrail models they just did an average sway bar to still allow some more travel, but sacrificing handling.
no, the kdss optioned 4runner or land cruiser almost had no body roll during corning @@alwaysiyi272
Regarding the absence of KDSS in all the other rims other than Overtrail, another reason I feel is the infamous KDSS lean that has been commonly and continuously reported by the 2nd-gen owners in the past decade.
KDSS was not standard on every trim level of the previous GX.
Nah I'll take the 23' but with this infotainment AND THAT PANORAMIC ROOF !

Like this alot 🔥
Lexus you got to add the EKDSS and 20 inch wheels as options to the other trims.
I never understood the concept of low-profile tires and 22" rims on an off-road vehicle. True off-roading is going to tear up those wheels.
Because people use their off road vehicles as mall crawlers. Its perfect
They know their audience. 95% of people buying these will never use them off-road I imagine, and the people that do will just replace their wheel and tire setup anyways.
You can always get the Overtrail with 18inch wheels and 33inch tires
No one actually off roads off road vehicles. This is the luxury spec anyways.
this is the luxury+ trim geared for on-road, the offroad is the overtrail+
The best auto reviewer on all of TH-cam. Love the information you bring to us.
Having been an ‘04 GX470 owner for 15 years, I loved the ML sound system in it. Is the ML available at least as an option in the Premium Plus trim? Thanks.
It does!
It does!
The OverTrail has even more drive modes you can select can’t wait till you drive one for a review and test some off-road modes .
Интересное познавательное видео ,раскрыты все ньюансы ! Благодарю за уделенное время ! Пройдет время и я куплю этот Авто ! Но черт побери как бы я хотел видеть на Нем V8 ! Всем Достойных Авто !
I was admiring the sunset today when a white, late model Land Cruiser turned onto my street. Then I wad admiring the Land Cruiser. I at first thought it was a Sequoia from the previous generation. I mean, the outgoing Land Cruiser is HUGE, and it looks like a boss. And it's not much more expensive than the GX in this video, not to mention the new "Land Cruiser." Both of these look like toys next to the larger, outgoing Land Cruiser, which unlike those ones isn't trying hard to look cool. It doesn't have to. It's the truck you see in newsreels of the most godforsaken places on the planet, where your life depends on getting out of there. It commands respect. Toyota should've just sold us a non-luxury version of that Land Cruiser.
Amazing Lexus GX
WOOOOHOOOOO I'll get me used one in 10 years. 🥶
I wish Lexus would do more with its interiors. For that price point it’s a class behind other luxury brands
How? Personally I like buttons even though it’s a luxury vehicle. Moreover, it’s a truck. Has to be kinda trucky
@@tim7556 It's a pretty sterile looking interior.
needs more colour options to spice it up and make it more customizable
@@tim7556 add in some ambient lighting for starters. More premium materials and design. I don’t hate the interior. It’s practical and pretty easy to use which I like but at the price this is going for it’s barely meeting today’s standards in terms of luxury
@@LeoDragoGR ohh yea I see good point
It would be a prefect gx if they included the e kdss
reminds me of the third row in an aviator from back in the day
Thanks for going to the trouble of sharing this. I'm waiting on one to try. I was hoping to see both rows of seats in the down position across the models. I like everything about this car except the color schemes inside and out. You're in luck if you want a black interior. That's the biggest detractor for me. But I'll still buy one. Can't wait.
I understand that non-overtrail models do not have eKDSS, but I would think they would have a large diameter sway bar to keep body roll to a minimum. for those of us that will not take this off-roading, we don't necessarily need KDSS but mitigating body roll is important and it seems that AVS only helps this to some degree.
KDSS is just as much as ON road feature as much as it is an off road feature. Since the bars can disconnect, the GX460 has the fattest diameter bars of any SUV meaning super flat ON road handling. Losing KDSS is a downgrade…no question about it!
@@Odat Given KDSS is now not standard across all trim levels, I hope that there will be some aftermarket sway bar options to reduce body roll for the non-OT trim levels. Hopefully Lexus listens to their customer base and implements this as standard on future model years consistent with years past.
@@twinturbo69camaro absolutely agree!. Seems like Lexus has been doing some major cost cutting across its models. Body roll on the new one is a lot worse than the Gx460 and I’ve driven both.
Have a 2021 Land Cruiser and this is tempting. Crazy but other then the build quality the biggest thing I’d miss is the weighty steering feel and that damn emergency brake handle. Just know those things aren’t coming back.
Really liking the square body look. Truly happy to see a gauge cluster inside a dashboard and not a screen that slapped on top. Kudos to Toyota for not following other manufacturers who are doing that. And same of course for the radio.
This will be popular
I want to see driving impressions of overtral trim. Let's see has it body roll issues?
Thanks for this review, made me finalize my decision to go with Yukon at4 for much less but way more room and cargo
4 runner
Good luck with that, GM quality just keeps getting worse and worse, not only that but everyone and their mom drives a Yukon or Tahoe

Would likey go for the Overtrail+ vs luxury+ when considering the new GX--- if putting 22" rims on something like a GX--- would stick with an X5 for superior on-road performance!🎉
Love it. expet that up right windshield might make more wind noise and prone to cracks.
I still think the interior of my 23’ 460 is better and has a more luxury feel and look. 550 looks bland. Exterior wise, 550 looks good. No KDSS and no V8 are a big no, considering the fact that the mpg is not even that any better.
Well, I’d say it’s biggest competitor would be the defender 110 and their interior is even more bland
Nice speedmaster!
Is it me or does the sound the infotainment makes sound a lot like the sound of the menu in GTA San Andreas? 😂
This vehicle seems like the luxury mall cruiser alternative to the Land Cruiser video the other day.
Thanks for the nice review. Although I miss the powerful engine note of that V8, I do appreciate the updated powertrain and suspension set-up, especially considering the expensive and invasive maintenance work that will need to be done at some point as the V8 ages, which hopefully will not be necessary in the twin turbo -V6
I think it would be the opposite. The turbo engine has more that can go wrong than the v8. I'm sure its super reliable, but the v8 has no engine defects to my knowledge. The v8 could potentially go 1 million miles without ever opening the engine just with proper maintenance. I'm sure at least the turbos would go out on the new model before then.
You should pick one of these up so you and Tedward can off-road them and bring us some content together!
Nice work & nice car.
What I didn’t know this existed gives a g wagon vibe never liked Lexus the interior felt cheap but this suv looks amazing
I am in fact a fan of those rims.
What determines if it can only tow 7,601 lbs or 7800 lbs?
I mean this or the Defender and the G Wagon. Is that the competition? I really like this a lot!
Awesome vehicle 👌🏻 Kudos to Lexus 🏆
Right now my practical, adventure-ready, winter beater is an 03 GX with over 300k miles. Great vehicle, but I'm fighting some real lust for a 550 in Overtrail guise. Going to keep an eye on these and the new Land Cruiser 250 over the next couple years. Maybe I'll upgrade to a cheap 460 in the meantime lol
the one thing that makes me sad is them giving up on classic dials for the speedometer and rpm counter... a subaru outback is much more refined in that respect... too bad they don't offer classic dials as a premium option...
Was deciding between a 300 series GR and an overtrail. Lexus it is!
Thank you for mentioning body roll. That is cuz no kdss. I have gx460 and i love how flat it drives without much body roll. I wouldnt get gx550 unless they have kdss. Do you think they will add kdss in the future for all models?
I am a big fan of Lexus brand, i love what they do, how they do it. What I don’t understand is why all car manufacturers have this trims named: Luxury Plus Ultra Extra VIP All that you want You are the big boss We know how to play with your mind and ego.
I know that we are just stupid sheep for the marketing teams and they need to charge extra for anything and have a name for the trims that makes the buyer feel special, he will get something extra then others.
A simple, easy to understand trim names will be something that I will like more: Base, Middle and Top/Luxury. Yes is not something that bad, but I really don’t like how they try to sell us something, just by throwing big words in the names and this is not just in car industry 😇. But this is just me, sorry for the rant, this car is great shame that in Europe don’t have all that engines and … trims 😅
Dream car
Could some of the rattles you be attributed to the pre-production status of this particular example?
If only it came with the V8 still I'd consider one eventually
Cant wait to see a wrapped one in the whole foods parking lot
Love the interior. Materials are so much better than the outgoing model and honestly better than the current RX in my opinion. I just can’t wrap my head around the lack of a compartment to store sunglasses….
YOUR BIGGEST KENYAN FAN, SUBSCRIBER, LIKER, COMMENTER RIGHT HERE, AS USUAL, 17/02/2024
cool video
still a electronic controlled clutch fan..KDSS is magic, wondering the option will change later on, such an 7 seat on overtrails.....
Design clearly influence by the Escalade with the upright boxiness. The previous generation GX looked like an Equinox in comparison and that side profile c-pillar treatment is definitely giving me Cadillac Escalade. I see what Lexus was going for here but like Hyundai with the new Sante Fe; nice but too much of the budget went to one area and because of that the ‘afterthoughts’ are obvious.
low-profile tires and 22" rims are an automatic no-go for me. Toyota keeps forcing owners who want a smooth ride to buy the lowest cost trims in order to get smooth riding tall sidewall tires.
Thanks for great video. I watched you drove all the trims.
I am thinking about premium plus because I believe it has everything I need.
What do you think? Do you think it's necessary to upgrade to luxury/ luxury + ?
Nah, premium plus or overtrail are the best value 👍
They need to do something about that terrible tooting when pressing buttons in the infotainment.
Ride? It IS a frame on rail truck. Overtrail? I can't wait.
The 22s don’t even look good enough to justify the sacrifice in ride quality
It's clean, cool style'n. 80K is kinda pricey. I would get a V8 IMO.
The event location is great for photos but you'd think Lexus would have a course or area to showcase the drivetrain and new approach/departure angles. Nobody is canyon carving in a GX.
Chris, Did Lexus bring a dentist to this event to replace all the fillings rattled loose by those crazy 22" rims? 🤔😂
Very compact looking inside, not much room
Would definitely go with overland wheels. Those look like wagon wheels.
2023 GX vs 2024, which one y'all taking?
If I have to pick one, I would take the 23. but it's too expensive. i would buy just Lexus NX 350. Or toyota 4 runner. no more than 40k
Gx460
I hate that the luxury+ comes with 22 inch wheels. Ride comfort is a huge part of luxury!
How’s the ride quality? I got nervous when you mentioned the NVH
I wished you tested out the Mark Levinson audio
What's your thoughts on the sound system?
It's not up to par with luxury, the materials feel cheap, and the problem with folding the rear seats just killed me.
The location is very cool. Where is this, Arizona?
It only have 1 mpg improvement from the last gen by switching from a more reliable V8 to turbo V6?
What would you say rides better ? this or the previous generation? Thanks
They should have hidden back wiper blade like the 4Runner trdpro back wiper is hidden.
Also no hybrid model? I will wait for 2025
my issue with the last GX was the horrible brake feedback... was that addressed in this generation? or is it you give a little braking and suddenly the whole car just lurches forward and you cant stop smoothly...
Does it drives more fun(more dynamic and sporty) than a Bronco 2 door?
My God, that interior looks terrible! They spent so much time focusing on exterior design changes that they completely dropped the ball with the interior quality materials... looks so plasticky compared to previous generation.
They should be ashamed for commanding a higher price point for what is effectively a dinosaur car.
It’s not intended to be an ultra luxury car so your expectations are amiss. It’s meant to be a capable off-roader with some luxury.
@@Encourageable Yeah, no. That's what the Land Cruiser is for.
This is a LEXUS, in a "Luxury Plus" iteration nonetheless.
Some King 2.5’s, KMC beadlocks & 37s would fix this real quick
let's see if this Japanese made 3.5L TT is better than the US made version.
Can you share more about whether this has cruise control, lane assist, auto steering, highway modes, traffic modes? I’m looking for ease and convenience on long trips in traffic and I love Teslas auto steering. What does this have?
why did the HUD stop working midway. pre-production issues ?
Alright look, I currently have a badass alpine subwoofer in my jeep wrangler JL. I’m getting the Lexus GX as our family vehicle and i don’t know whether to pay the extra money for the Mark Levinson system. I went to Lexus but the tester they had didn’t have the upgrade installed so I couldn’t listen to it. I need a DEEP bass. If it doesn’t have it then there’s no need. If it’s barely there then there’s no need. Anyone have any idea if it’s worth it?
I'd rather take this over the g wagon or the land rover. It looks supercool and fancy at the same time. Riding in style.
😍
How much better is the sound in this than say the overtrail?
Would this be considered a better option over Honda Pilot's Lux version... I mean for the price is this a better option over a considered lesser vehicle like the Honda Lux Pilot?
What is KDSS? They mention it a few times in the video.
Hmm..so if there's a child seat in the 2nd row, getting to the third row seems nearly impossible unless you go on the other side. What if you have two children's seats in both captain chairs? Go down the middle to get to the back, but thats assuming enough room between the child seat and the front seat. Maybe Lexus should have invested in power sliding middle row vs. a power folding third row.
That second demonstration of body roll gave me a bit of anxiety also.
If a body on frame is a luxury car then.........
Is this Lexus’s Land Cruiser?
No, the LX 600 is the Lexus version of the Land Cruiser
Lexus’ Land Cruiser Prado
@@TheRealGamingFoxywell lx used to be the Lexus version of Land Cruiser
But Land Cruiser was discontinued in USA last year I think
& smaller cheaper one is coming out based on gx550 but with hybrid motor not the turbo 3.4 like gx550 (in 2024)
LX = luxury Land Cruiser LC300
GX = luxury Land Cruiser Prado
Does having the torsen center diff make this sort of like a Audi Quattro style system but for 4wd body on frame trucks?
8:15 That's a laughably small sidestep.
Does no KDSS make a difference on road compared to the previous generation?
yes, he mentioned it in this video and in his last video review of the Premium. There is more body roll without KDSS on road.
@@Patrick-ze7wd yup, I just watched that yesterday. Nice to know that the 2023 we just got isn’t all “worse” than the new one.
i love this car but how did they manage to make a v6 so inefficient? I wonder if the boxy shape is to blame
It’s a press car it’s being put to its limits everyday, which means crap mpg average
It is not a joke to move 3 ton vehicle and be efficient on gas
