- In this Total War Warhammer 2 multiplayer tournament match, Karl Franz and the Empire Summon the Elector Counts to take on Kroq-Gar, Grymloq the Carnosaur, and the Lizardmen of Lustria. Empire vs. Lizardmen is a very interesting matchup!

I would just like to point out that historically in the Napoleonic era of warfare there were tactics used in which regiments of soldiers would form up in specific ways so to let cavalry charge through their lines without killing themselves.

As a TW veteran, I had no idea they'd changed charge mechanics to work *through* your own infantry until I started watching your vids. Handy knowledge to keep if a situation is desperate.
Charge damage works for 15 seconds, but it fades quickly over that time (and needs a certain level of speed to activate), so charging through your own people is still a bad idea in general. It's really only worth doing if your micro is stretched so thin that you can't bother doing something better with the cavalry at the time.
I think trained soldiers can make specific gaps in line for calvery to charge in. actually there was enough space between soldiers on the line in order to give them space to swing their shields.
I just wanted 2 say that you are my absolute favourite total war "commentator/player". You use a perfect mix of talking about stats and tying it to some kind of lore. Makes all the characters and units come alive and feel scary and cool! i LOVE it.

I suspect that the engine/mechanics of this game allowing cavalry to charge through friendly formations without much penalty might have to do with how Creative Assembly planned around monsters (units and single entities) wading around through the battle.

I agree. The Charge through own rank is just plain stupid.
Making way (slowly) to enter melee would be fine though for mounted troops, but then there should not be a charge bonus...

Wait Indy you want charges by cav through your own men to do no damage? Less damage? Do they really do too much damage as is? Idk cuz Im still not playing lol, but for a unit like empire knights maybe a good thing since they're not the toughest
i think it shouldnt really do anything yeah. dont think players should be encouraged to use cavalry like that. i hardly think its a massive problem or anything though
milkandcookiesTW I mean I would understand if you meant like low tier cav but tbh I would only disagree where something like a demigryph starts hitting like a wet noodle cause it charged from the front in a battle line
its charging through their own troops. why should the charge bonus of a cavalry unit carry through their own unit (doing 0 damage to their own troops in the process) and still do substantial damage to the enemy? it doesnt make any sense. like sure, melee attack on any model that moves past their own units and starts attacking will still hit, but why would the charge bonus transfer, theres no longer any momentum, it was all spent slamming into the backs of their own units
milkandcookiesTW im not arguing loss of mass for the horse units, but I don't like the idea of a unit of chaos knights, demigryph knights, or dragon ogres losing their charge bonus because if we are being real here then almost any inf unit would be flying out of the way, friendly or otherwise. And most enemy inf units would get slammed then too. I guess my point is just cause some of these cav units are smaller than KROQ for instance, doesn't mean they'd simply all lose their momentum
and my only point is players shouldnt be rewarded for backcharging their own units. thankfully its not a core part of the meta, it would make for some really boring cav play if it was

Deathclaw and Grymloq are one of my fav mounts, but Grymloq + mighty Kroq-gar are one of the strongest Duelists of Warhammer (as far as i know)
Kroq-Gar + Grimloq and Kholek are probably the strongest duelists in the game.
Without any mounts, the one who lands more hits would win. On mounts, Kroq Gar has advantage because of his anti-large bonus.

I know this is about a different game but if anyone can help thatd be great. Im thinking of buying vermintide 2 but im concerned it'll be an issue being a new player while the player base is higher lvl. Can i play solo until im high enough enough level to join others?

There would be no issue. You would play lower difficulties first together with other new players before you level up.
If you like that kind of genre buy it imo it is best out there of that type.

EDIT: you can play solo but bots are limited a bit, at least 1 other player changes things around a lot.

Most likely they were alive a thousand years ago so my guess is they just remember stuff.
they're one of the most advanced and literate societies, and live for centuries, sometimes millenia, so yeah they have written records dating back pretty much to the beginning. they're even aware of the Old Ones and have theories about why each race created by them is the way they are

Are they not used much?
Against some factions they can be used to decent effect, but a lot of people don't pick them because they have relatively short range compared to most other skirmish cavalry (everything with a bow outranges them and can keep distance shooting them to death), and they lack armor-piercing damage compared to Outriders, so versus any faction which is going to have good armor they probably won't accomplish much with all their missile ammo and their melee stats suck (only real use for them in melee is to rear-charge and cause the morale penalty, they won't really get any kills but they can route a wavering unit doing that)

I love the Lizardmen (Gor-Rok will always be one of my favorites) but Karl Franz and the Empire are my first loves. Time to make those dinos extinct and make a cool scale cloak!

would much rather be killed by lizardmen. theyre ruthlessly efficient, they dont make people suffer needlessly. beastmen are literally evil, and theyll sometimes toy with you first

Did Lizardmens (My favorite faction in warhammer fantasy) are really so weak in total war? When i see them fighting with someone its something like barely victory or loss, where loss is in almoast all fights

Hey everyone need some help. Been watching total war warhammer videos on youtube for awhile and play the games religiously. So i thought i would start reading the books. Im on the doom of the elves book and im starting the Malus darkblade story. However im having some trouble comparing characters. In the beginning kourand darkhand goes toe to toe with valkia the bloody for a good half of the book. And judging by how the describe valkia in understand she is a daughter of khorne. But what im having trouble with is who is more powerful. I understand so far that Malus is the lord of hag graef and has the warpstone sword. But i wanna know who is more powerful him or darkblade. I know im leaving out tullaris dreadbringer, but in terms of darkhand and darkblade, who is more powerful?
I don't have that game or know too much about it, but nowadays almost every game either level scales you or matches with similar level players when doing coop or PvP.

kroxigors are kinda useless vs the empire
if Empire goes kite and cav heavy yeah. Empire had a lot of infantry this game though, and Greatswords beat Saurus. so having Kroxigors worked out pretty decently here
im pretty sure had he spend the money for kroxigors on more dino / cav the empire would have lost, and in this case the kroxigors actually didnt payed for themselfs either they mostly killed statetroops and 1 unit a few empire knights, prolly the one with the chefron
its just in itself a dumb pick vs the empire, what does empire do vs dinos? they go anti large cav, spears a lot of gunpowder and hold the line with warriorpriest buffs, so empire goes wide, as they always do, so if they go wide... and u pick kroxigors, u disadvantage urself cous what do u want 2 fight with kroxis? greatswords ofc, but u cant send them in them 1o1... they will get killed 2, so u not only investing 1000 for kroxis but another 800 for saurus/ at least 450-500ish for skinks, since ur dinos r alrdy very expensive u r outnumbered heavily, get flanked, attacked in the back... and damned urself to lose to this kind of attritious fighting
i love kroxis in campagne and their animations are awesome, but (for me) there are zero reasons to pick them vs the empire
That is good reasoning in general. But it is a bit of an oversimplification of strategy. I mean, if I'm playing Empire in a tournament, I would not use the same strat all the time, otherwise, I get easily countered as you explained; same with Lizard; in few words: maybe the optimal strat it is not always the best strat when it is so well known.
Maybe the Kroxi did not work, but could have worked if the enemy had a different setup, or if a certain move had gone differently.
There is no perfect strategy.
ofc there isnt, but kroxis dont work vs the empire cous of their cost and the natural useage of monsters, you always pay more for one part of your fighting line, means the enemy spends that money on either a larger frontline, you get overwhelmed by infantry, cav your support skirmisher die and then u have to fight with anti inf units cav or he gets gunpowder/ artillery units who will crush the kroxis befor they meet the line ( hammer of the witches) or normal gunners, take a bit more time y... but they can do how they please cous the dinoman has nothing to threaten them
not even mentioning the possibility of a luminark which is often seen vs lizardmen, he also had no answere to that
i c ur point of picking an unexpected army, and it is a hugh advantage for sure... but not when you pick that poor an army

cous his army cant answere gunpowder, cav, artillery, he srsly choose to counter the empires weakest position... thats completely mad
So attacking in front with ur cav unit is effective, while 2 inf units (in which ur own infantry unit is IN FRONT) are engaged. This is a bullshit game mechanic, should getting fixed. 3:26
slamming cav into the back of your own men in rome 1 and med 2 are so over powered. play any tourney in rome 1 or community clan battle youll see it. so i also think its not a realistic mechanic that they got rid of in shogun and rome 2 and attila shouldve stayed gone.
I hate the empire. They aren't bad, humans in fantasy are just boring. You have sturdy dwarves, graceful elves, barbaric orcs, and boring humans.
