- In this Total War Warhammer 2 Curse of the Vampire Coast multiplayer gameplay, two VERY good players in Slade_X and Morgengrat face off in The Reeking Mire as the Greenskins and Norsca clash for control of the Lustrian Jungle! Black Orcs, Skin Wolves, and Throgg the Troll King come out to play
@MilkandcookiesTW it may not seem like a big deal to most but I love the way you set the scene for battles. I'm so used to just a basic run down of both armies that the camera work and narration you give is actually really nice
It's why I love Indys battles he's the only one I watch, the context and intro gets me invested! Especially with loreful battles.

Exactly my oppinion and i dont even play competetive. But i like these Videos - they are like Football Matches it feels like a Sports Show, but i like it.

Jesus, that overcast Vindictive Glare was filthy. I love watching two high-skill players duke it out. Shame about the spider-riders though, Slade definitely needed them come the late game and it must have hurt bad to lose them that early.
I wish there were more battles with Greenskins. They deserve more attention. Very good use of goblin archers by the way.

I feel like slade’s archer line would have been more effective if he went for more night gobbo archers because then the poison would have stacked with the reduced speed from gork’ll fix it, making it harder for morgengrat to cycle charge. Not bashing or anything though; it’s great play from both sides and I certainly can’t play at this level.

As a Norsca player I've brought builds similar to Morgen's against GS before. He makes it looks MUCH easier to use than it actually is.
yeah no question about it, using the build he used to that level of effectiveness is not as easy thing!

That was beautiful, way more entertaining than the counters "meta" bullshit people try to spam. Both had fun, micro intensive, hard to play and creative armies. Plus none tried to abuse the map shallows or woods. What an amazing match to watch.

I really do enjoy watching these online battles even though I don't play them myself. I might try my hand at some once I get my internet sorted again but I'm so used to playing the ai my guess is I'd be terrible. I appreciate all the work you and the other folks put into these battles though and uploading them for all of us to watch with awesome commentary. That was a heck of a battle, nice job to both players.
no one is amazing when they first start playing online. just gotta play and practice, and the more you do, the better you'll get! watching tournaments and gameplay between good players should help quite a bit :)

Seeing all the cinematic close ups makes me with there was a warhammer mod for Bannorlord.

That Vindictive Glare! I got flashbacks of the state of the game when TWW first launched. Everyone brought flying lords and tried to snipe each other with the stupidly powerful magic missiles instead of actually fighting lol
yeah that was absolutely the worst time for competitive TWW mp lol. i commentated the first ESL tournament during that time and it made me die a little inside
Notice the most impressive bit of strategic thought in this battle:
As the mid-game gave way to the late and more and more of the greenskin value was proportionally carried by their mid-high tier melee troops, his missile having traded quite evenly in a neck and neck early and midgame, the objectives of both players shifted.
The Norsca army that was mostly about hit-and-run tactics and focused on mobility more so than on sheer strength, did not manage to gain a sufficient advantage to run away with the game early on, as the archers fired a lot of their ammunition and the defending player managed to stay even with some good micro. Some lesser player might see in that imminent defeat, as mobility becomes more and more irrelevant in the pit fight that is the end-game, but he saw a different out. He spotted instantly that what he had to do to win, was to use his mobility to defeat one or two enemy units in detail, and then use that first rout with his suddenly greater numbers to press on, and so he did. What was so impressive is that you can pin-point that time in the battle that this shift occurs, and how fast his, I would wager subconscious, reaction and tactical adaptation was. On the contrary despite his solid up to then play, the greenskin player maintained for too long the extended, staggered front that was appropriate for countering the now irrelevant hit-and-run and was promptly punished. This entire swift in tactics was executed with acute attention to detail, and you can observe how effectively he prowls for the opportunity by just observing how even the narration and camera-work struggles to follow his movements, units are constantly changing direction off-screen and taking engagements, or feigning them suddenly.

8:38 is probably my favorite moment. The Norsca cavalry charges in and the Goblin Shaman is a bit slow in reaction before he jumps runs away in full panic! :D

You know what would be interesting, something I noticed in this battle was the amount of damage units took from the arrow fire when trying to make distance from the greenskins. Alot of those units had shields but because they are running away they take full damage. So I have to wonder if CA has considered implimenting a reverse move, Where you make the choice of walking backwards which would make you slower but allows the usage of your shields. So then you have to make the choice of a faster withdrawl or a safer but slower withdrawl.
Just a thought I only recently got into total war so maybe that's a dumb idea.

The night goblin war boss on the squig is a great example of why hidden stats are so important. Based on that massive BvI you'd think he'd be incredible, but actually he doesn't really perform that well most of the time.

those archers are so powerful and precise, they can shoot over their own man in an arc trajectory, not loose any damage potential AND still hit their target that's nearly beyond the realm of possible gotta hand it to those goblin archers who usually have the reputation of being bad in movies

It's funny how people are all of the sudden realizing the strength of magic missile spells. I've been using gaze of nagash for a while, especially in my campaigns, and really glad they gave it more of an arc

The Greenskins really need some more love in terms of buffs and unit improvement.
Dont think that is the case. Greenskins has won some tournaments in recent times. That is more than you can say for alot of the other factions.
Even so, it feels like they've gotten less and less attention as a faction since their last DLC. Game 3 could be a great opportunity to iron out the creases, especially considering what Grom the Paunch could do as a lord choice.
Their campaign mechanics defiantly need some changes.
@@pdc4930 I could see that yes. There is a mod that lets you control the Waagh! But alot of the old races could use some tuning on the campaign map... And maybe they will. Dwarves and Vampires have gotten stuff.

What a nice scrap. Got a little tired of the cancer of the hit an run from Norsca(I only allow it to the Wood Elves, that's what they do)., but it was very close for da boyz. Next time, doggies, we'll see ya next time.
One thing to note: Seeing that ugly troll move across the field, just walking over bloody black orcs and pushing them back at will; that's some of what I want to see done for da best, Grimgor Ironhide. That should be his thing, far more so that for anyone else. The same could be said ofr the actual size of him and his hit points.

Are the rules for swamp different for multiplayer? Cus why did Ork player kept fighting so much in the swamp? Those -20% dmg on black orks really made the difference, I think.

I really believe it's game breaking/ meta level the speed debuff skills.
I think Slade wasted his cavalry, which was crucial against this Norsca build. By wasting it, he didn't have the numbers and mobility to protect his squishier units well anymore.

Idk what was so impressive about the GS player here. He wasted all his cav on nothing, kept units far from eachother and did not even attempt to protect his archers which were his only weapon to save him from all that light cav after he suicided his spiders early on. Perhaps im too noob to understand it.
Whenever I play multiplayer (in warhammer 2) as the wood elves I don’t have access to the regiments of renown. Anyone know how to fix this?

no, forests do that for large units. rivers and water reduce speed of infantry
he was not nearly full hp when he got hit by overcast
If the Greenskin player used his spider-riders more efficiently, he would have won easily. He desperately needed their poison / tying-up potential. To be fair, he prolly had no idea just how mobile the Norsca army was, but nevertheless.

@@Pazzystar OTOH, micro 4 groups of skin wolves and cycling charge cavs is no small feet, 1 mistake and they will get stuck and get deleted, this is no Grail Guardian where you can hang back and act like heavy infantry. Both sides make mistakes but it's a damn cut above the average guys.
Also kudos for non-abusive meta build here, no noob-box BS or 1-click cavs + magic nuke.
Its not that guys. He didn't "throw them away" the Norca player took them. There was no scenario where those spider riders would have made it out alive. GS player tried to retreat back to his army when he saw the Norsca build which was the right call but he got intercepted. Even had he run the opposite direction Norsca had the mobility advantage. Norsca player can afford to spend 5 minutes chasing the Spider Riders to the other side of the map and cornering them.
@Peder Hansen he charged them into horseriders when it was obvious that he wasn't getting away from all of that mobility. Better to get some value out of them than none. Unfortunately they broke extremely fast.

I follow dialy the news about total war games and I’ve looking to the interactions that Warhammer and 3K have. It is massive the difference between both from a social media perspective: Warhammer has more comments, feedback and interactions than 3k. Look at reddit where the huge majority of posts are about warhammer, or the retweets a warhammer tuit has compared to a 3k or the views on youtube... My question: what if 3k is a success in china but not in the rest of the world?
I don't think you need to worry about that. Let the community loose upon the game and very soon you will have a lot of narratives and comments for it. You're looking at two games worth of comments about issues, bugs, campaign, meta and balances. 3K might be a success. Or it might not. Cheers!
3k is more successful as tabletop.

The water doesn't slow large monsters/horses just the infantry, but yeah it was against a pretty defensible position

I don’t understand why ever battle vid is something vs norsca.
Overall decent play, but I think you exaggerate the impact of the skin wolves in this battle, the amount of kills on them is almost the same as standard marauders and they didnt even get a chevron whereas the marauder horsemasters got 2 (assuming those were earned during the battle).
Exp is earned based on damage dealt relative to the cost of a unit, has nothing to do with killing entities
The thing is the skin wolves can kill like the marauders but the fact that they regen makes em better since it makes em last longer

Good play but I felt Ork relied too much on infantry. Orks don't have any good infantry vs cav. You need trolls to be absorbing flank charges.
