  • I wanted to check the valve clearance on our Kawasaki Bayou 220 KLF220 while I was doing other work to it. I ended up not making adjustments because they were within tolerance. I guess it was good to check...

    Where can I find an air filter or a diagram for rewiring or can you upload a video rewiring the whole thing

      Ray Redding I found an air filter on ebay, it worked perfectly.

      Sadly, I do not have a complete wiring diagram but rewiring the Bayou is a great idea for a video. Thanks for watching! ~Mr. C.

    Not sure how you found TDC of the compression stroke
    Just picked up a bayou 220 has spark but wont start with starting fluid I'm assuming low compression and hope its just the valves and not anything more serious

      @NaturesCadenceFarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      live and let live I just followed the instructions in the Clymer manual for TDC. It is a very useful book and I highly recommend. I hope it is something simple for you to fix. I have found these machines to be very durable. Thanks for watching and commenting. ~Mr. C.

      Check the valve lash first. Tight valves may be the culprit.

    Just bought 2 bayou 250s that were not running for 500$ both, I had one my self and I put my carburetor on each to test them out to see if it was that and sure enough it was so I decided to buy them both new carburetors and they start but die when I hit the gas. I know the engines are solid because they work with my original carb. Any idea what it could be ?

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      @420-JOSE you got a sweet deal on two of them. I love those things. The issue you speak of could be a simple carburetor setting on the new carbs. I am guessing you got the scamazon special knockoff carbs. I have used them with some success. One setting is the mixture screw that is located on the bottom of the carb between the cylinder and the fuel bowl. This meters fuel from idle to around 15% throttle. A good place to start is 1 1/2 turns out from fully seated. Out is more fuel in is less. Another would be the needle clip if you live at extreme altitudes one way or the other. Let me know if you need any help. ~Mr. C.

    How do I adjust a decomp lever on this quad ? It was running but now acts like it's got no compression but ik it does

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Hunter Cobb I am not aware of any available adjustments. The shaft could be rusty and sticking causing the valve to be slightly open. If anyone has more information in the community I am all ears. Wish I could be more help. ~Mr. C.

    My fly wheel dont have a t on it anywhere, 1990 bayou 220 , only a circle with a line through it? Is that right?

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Casey Gray I did a little research on this matter and have came up empty handed. You really don't need the mark if you are just adjusting the valves. Just watch the valves until both are closed and piston is top dead center, proceed with the adjustments. You can watch the piston through the spark plug hole to see it's position. The timing marks play a major role in setting the timing after a timing chain swap. Good luck! Let me know if you need any further information. ~Mr.

    Mine is a 2002 220 bayou and it backfires when I shift. Do you think it’s the valves?

    • @NaturesCadenceFarm
      @NaturesCadenceFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Shitbird I would lean toward a rich carburetor. Check your float level. Check your jet settings. It might just need a carb kit and to be tuned. Checking the valves is not a bad idea. Excellent question. ~Mr. C.

      All you need to do is place the correct size wrench over the bolt, then loosen it. After it is loose you can use a flat head screwdriver to adjust it to where you need it. After you have it there, you will put the wrench back on the bolt, hold the flathead screw in place, and re-tighten the bolt down. After you do that, recheck the gap with the feeler gauges to ensure it didn't move when you were tightening it. If it did, repeat the above.

    • @workhard3994
      @workhard3994 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      what I meant to say is everytime I see a video they don't need to be adjusted and I read that people take them apart to adjust them and there within spec so that's why I wanted to adjust mine but then at the same time I don't but I know how adjust them tho I got lots of tools skills

    • @cygnus1965
      @cygnus1965 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only reason you would
      want to adjust the valves is if the machine is hard to start. When the valves get tight the machine won’t like to just start up easy. So if your machine will fire right up the valves are fine.
