I just traded in my Honda Accord Sport for a GT Challenger. The past few days I've been saying to myself "What was I thinking"? Reason is I get glued to my cars, but for some reason I feel like I've was having bad luck with the Honda. 1st impression of the Challenger. Love it, but it's going to take time to get used to it. A lot of power. Not a lot of storage inside the car. Drives very smooth. As soon as I hit the gas the car takes off. It will take time to get over the Honda and adjust to a higher vehicle but I'm glad to join the Challenger family.
dodge is made a challenger that you could drive year round without worring about getting syuck in the snow and assholes are whinning about it. they are doing things that chevy and ford dont have the balls to do.
When you first stated Portland, I was like oh no, don't take that 'Merica car there with all the hipsters and Subaru fans, they will probably riot and burn the car in "protest" for something!
Just bought this car and have to say I love it for my use. Of course if I lived in Florida I would have purchased the TA or RT.. I need an all wheel drive car where I live. I've been driving 4 wheel drive trucks for 16 years and wanted a sports car when I heard the 17 Challenger GT was AWD I had to try it. I'm happy with it.
Anyone complaining about performance needs to get a tune installed. I put one in my 2010 V6 and it made a HUGE difference ! I also have dual exhaust, Flowmasters mufflers and a CAI . Gained about 45 horsepower and 25 more torque total. 15 hp and 15 torque from the tune on 91 octane gas. The 93 octane tune will give an extra 3 more hp and torque.
As someone who lives in Vegas, with its unpredictable weather, this AWD would be a great buy, that is if I was ever in the market for an underwhelming but useful challenger.
I had a Charger AWD rental with the same drivetrain for a week, and I have to say, the cornering dynamics on dry pavement is weird to say the least, and the tires still break loose pretty easily despite power being distributed to all four wheels. And the weight of the car doesn't do any favor in any situation~
Buyers who opt for the 6 cyl. are going to be pretty happy within the next 2 years as gas prices head back to the $4@gal. range--maybe even higher. If I had to choose between a Challenger AWD and an SUV--and I didn't need the back seats often--I think I'd go this direction. I own the Challenger with the 6 (2016 SXT Plus) and having recently had both the Charger AWD RT with the Hemi ('14) and '15 Mustang GT, this 300+ HP six is no slouch.
I think the new Challenger Demon is going to be AWD. That AWD system will allow more horsepower to get to the ground, something Hellcat owners struggle with.
Let's be real guys, unless you're drag racing or frequently drive on a track, you won't ever be able to use the full horsepower of one of the V8 engines.
I always thought muscle car meant V8 power. I am looking for an AWD V8 and it seams the Genesis AWD has a similar system as the Dodge. It too is RWD until AWD is needed.
Miko my trip from North Dakota to Ohio, roughly 1200 miles I averaged 36 mpg. the 32 is my hour commute to work. It's half n' half as far as city/highway. If I'm just driving around town I get 20's for mpg.
"if you want an American Muscle car with four wheel drive, this is your only option" .. has a V6 .. also, how did they manage only get 300hp from it? .. audi's mking a 250hp 2.0 ... so ... twice the engine, gives you .. 20% more power... seems legit.. way to go
SS S Yeah but it has 3.05 gears and a good 8 speed. That makes up a lot. For example, if it had 430Hp with a 3 speed and 2.73s it'll be slower. Plus the power curve plays a factor. It doesn't matter too much antway since it's more of a sporty daily driver. The charger/challenger make real comfortable dailys. I'll take one in a heartbeat, but not to a drag strip.
My 2014 GT will too, but this car has a better interior and comfort. Your 2004 manual 3.5 Altima runs 14.4...this car in 2wd version 14.6. The Altima time advantage is entirely from the clutch dump. Your're not doing that daily, especially in a transverse V6...anyone who works on cars knows why. On the highway the charger pulls ahead. For that clutch burning, best from a dig time, you get a shitty plastic interior, noisy/harsh ride, transverse engine, and a car nobody cares about or looks back at. Neither one is fast, but don't throw stones in a glass house.
+Marcos Fierros I bet you ponder why a slower 1968 fastback is more desirable then a Altima too. To each their own, but transverse V6's are terrible out of warranty. Timing chain, clutch, head gasket..easier to drop the cradle.
Love the idea just wish I could afford a new one. Atm can only afford a used challenger and there too new now To afford one. But also would be nice to have a rt editon awd.
I live in Michigan right away so this car would be practical for me. Just wondering if it would be worth an upgrade. My payment is $240 a month right now
Zack krohn same here. I drive a beater 07 Ford Focus right now. I like the look of the challenger but the dodge fca dealership turns me away based on my age when I try to simply test drive one
Avenger is faster. My friend has one and they’re so underrated. I looked at him like “what the actual fuck” the first time he floored it with me in the car. They low key really fast for what they are, they also will do nasty burnouts. His spun the wheels all the way to 50 mph.
I think Dodge's reason for why the AWD is only offered in a v6 platform is a poor one. They couldn't even make it an option for people who are willing to pay for it? Something tells me their AWD system simply can't function with V8 power
Harris Montevallo It use to with the older Charger RT awd... this is just a cash grab.. before they switch the charger/challanger platform to the Alfa guilia
Musicizmyremedy WRX will have a better all wheel drive system, and would be a lot more fun to drive. I would only get this if it had a V8 option.. seeing how heavy it is.
Subtractinginfini Great point. Although owning a muscle car with an AWD system would've been super cool. Hopefully they come out with a V8 option, if so I'm sold!
Musicizmyremedy No doubt this would be bad ass with a V8, they already did it with the older. charger awd RT model... so hopefully they have a change of mind next year's model.
You're in Maine, in the snow. Might wanna wear a long sleeve shirt and put on a jacket lol. I've lived there for most of my teenage years. Nice car btw.
Justin Bouche I had the V6 Charger as a rental for a week and a half while my car was in the body shop after getting by a careless driver. The V6 made the car sluggish with how heavy the car is
Most people who buy challengers and chargers....usually put big shiny rims on them and drive slow through their hoods blasting music, so I can understand why they were like mehh we'll just put a v6
Midwest Mopars I'm sorry but you are wrong. The standard V6 without awd is lighter. I mean even common sense should tell you that. I feel your slogan might be a bit bias. Did they fix the bolts on the drive shift from coming off on this Challenger? cars.com

when an AWD chally was debuted I was interested to see how it would perform . now I find out it's a v6 and only sends power to all wheels at certain times . smh
First Name yeah like when you need it keeps it in two wheels when not needed if they did it so it ran all four all the time you’d have shitty mileage! Duh!
So this is basically for 60 year old women who like the looks of a muscle car but cant drive, so they put in a V6 and AWD? I was hoping to see something new and crazy.
i had an 15 scat pack 6.4, it was stupidest car i ever own, could not handle even with a $3000 KW suspension, car was all over the place, just looks and engine sound.
I don't understand what people are freaking out about, the V-6. It's going to be The new V8 for Who knows how long. Besides the Dodge Demon is going to be all wheel drive and V8 supposedly
Yeah I have a 2021 Dodge Charger GT AWD with the same 3.6 L V6. It puts out 300hp. Most V8s in the 90s were putting out that same hp. V8s in the 70s and 80s were putting out less than that.
I don't know I still wish the challenger would update its looks The front looks incredibly nice Same as the back But the shape If you look at it from 3/4 rear view it looks fat Same as the 3/4 front I mean it's still (in my opinion) the best looking muscle car there is ATM Specially since they mauled the Mustangs face for 2018 I really hope when they do update the challenger The face remains the same and the rear But please do something about that shape haha
I hate that all the LX platform AWD models have the non-dished rims on them. I assume that this is because of the hubs or the offset being different because of the AWD gear but it still looks dumb.
Damn, all the good muscle cars get ruined. The charger became a sedan, the challenger now has a v6, and in 2020, the mustang is becoming a hybrid. Hopefully Chevorelt won't mess up the camaro.
I have a 2007 Charger V8 AWD, and I would never buy this. This car puts all the worst things together. Heavy, automatic, not a Hemi.. At least my charger has the v8!
I want one so damn bad, and over in the north east it's essential to have awd. That being said, throw in atleast a V8 and I'm sold. V6 is pretty whack, it's a muscle car...with no muscle.
Finally a reviewer gives a review for the actual buyer and not just for himself....
I just traded in my Honda Accord Sport for a GT Challenger. The past few days I've been saying to myself "What was I thinking"? Reason is I get glued to my cars, but for some reason I feel like I've was having bad luck with the Honda.

How do you like it now? I’m thinking about trading in my accord coupe.
dodge is made a challenger that you could drive year round without worring about getting syuck in the snow and assholes are whinning about it. they are doing things that chevy and ford dont have the balls to do.
When you first stated Portland, I was like oh no, don't take that 'Merica car there with all the hipsters and Subaru fans, they will probably riot and burn the car in "protest" for something!
Acc0rd79 that's funny but true.
Acc0rd79 turbo civics are hated in my area, mine got keyed many times and I always park well also the car isn't loud.
Finally an awd challenger
JTundra only problem is that it has a small engine, an automatic, and not enough horsepower
@@owenfoss meh, that’s why you go with a V8. V6 Mustang makes the same as the Challenger and Charger
Kelly Blue Book reviews are the most entertaining auto reviews out there thank you for another great one!
365 horsepower is still not enough for a two ton plus car. You shouldn't be getting pulled on by a four cylinder when you're in a muscle car.
oint me to a non-turbo four that pulls in 0-60 in under 6 seconds. I'll be waiting lol.
*Point*
Nick Trano the original 1970 challenger only had 350 hp and had slower times 0-60 and quarter mile than the in modified v6
Dodge: "No on is buying our AWD Muscle car... SCRAP THE AWD HELLCAT VERSION!"
Consumer: "You idiots..."
As someone who lives in Vegas, with its unpredictable weather, this AWD would be a great buy, that is if I was ever in the market for an underwhelming but useful challenger.

This comment didnt age well lol, gas was at $1.73 a gallon in my neck of the woods.
I think the new Challenger Demon is going to be AWD. That AWD system will allow more horsepower to get to the ground, something Hellcat owners struggle with.
I live in Maine and it was cool to see that he was here
Notice at 4:25 there is another Challenger on the snow track. I guess thats the stunt driver doing the high speed moves they cut to?
Drivers of Ottawa 😂😂 trickery
This is my favorite muscle car
I purchased this car, same color. LOVE it. Big solid heavy car. I feel safe against the 18-wheelers.
The fact that the new Challenger GT is All Wheel Drive is mega appealing! Now I won't have to get stuck with a Subaru wagon.
I live in the north east..and I'm actually not turned off by this. But I would definitely supercharge, upgrade wheels, and lower suspension some
Ethan Julius or just buy a Subaru.
Let's be real guys, unless you're drag racing or frequently drive on a track, you won't ever be able to use the full horsepower of one of the V8 engines.
Unknown never been on a highway?
That v6 with 305 hp is plenty to drive on the freeway and u won’t have to fill up your tank every 4-5 days lol
When you said Portland I automatically thought Oregon because no one ever comes to Maine, greetings from the 207!
Hope you guys liked it in Portland, it's one of the best places to go for beer lovers. I work in Portland and live not too far away.
I always thought muscle car meant V8 power. I am looking for an AWD V8 and it seams the Genesis AWD has a similar system as the Dodge. It too is RWD until AWD is needed.
I would consider buying this if it has a combination of an awd and a hemi
They did but it didn’t sell
Just put a proper set of snow tires while going easy on the throttle and get the Challenger with a V8! A V6 Challenger just screams rental car.
dcharizard91 muscle car without the muscle... skinny in a tank top
AW AW more like cartman "beefcake"
AW AW lol
Him “ This is floored”
Transmission, already downshifted before he finished his sentence.
And he did jerk back.
I love like 30 minutes from Portland Maine :P made it kind of that much better watching this
Only offering that stupid Pentastar V6 into a 4000+ pound vehicle makes this ridiculous and kinda loses it's 'muscle' meaning in the first place.
Mihaly Lukacs would it make sense in a v6 charger ? But ppl want that better mpg
oonnwwhhoo the Challenger V6 mpg still sucks
Clous von
actually for a big car it's not bad at all. I average 32 mpg in my 300 with the v6.
Michael Davis highway driving
Miko
my trip from North Dakota to Ohio, roughly 1200 miles I averaged 36 mpg. the 32 is my hour commute to work. It's half n' half as far as city/highway. If I'm just driving around town I get 20's for mpg.
A car made to keep insurance companies somewhat happy.
Finally The new Evo!!!!!
NO!
you meant Heavo maybe
Royhan I hope this is a joke
The cousin of the evo which the challenger is Fucking slow to shit
its kinda plain jane to me though
"if you want an American Muscle car with four wheel drive, this is your only option" .. has a V6 .. also, how did they manage only get 300hp from it? .. audi's mking a 250hp 2.0 ... so ... twice the engine, gives you .. 20% more power... seems legit.. way to go

Rick James whatever, my old 2004 stock nissan altima 3.5 manual would destroy this car...
My 2014 GT will too, but this car has a better interior and comfort. Your 2004 manual 3.5 Altima runs 14.4...this car in 2wd version 14.6. The Altima time advantage is entirely from the clutch dump. Neither one is fast, but don't throw stones in a glass house.
Rick James still doesn't subtract from the fact that this car is total garbage. Dollar per dollar the altima is way better lmao
But also would be nice to have a rt editon awd.
it sits so high up
Edison Chua Why would you want it lower if its purpose is to be able to go in deep snow, plus you can always lower it with aftermarket parts.
agreed. It doesnt look particularly sporty or aggressive at all
Edison Chua so what. it's AWD so it's kind of the point to make it a bit more off road worthy
I'm not really into that impractical stanced shit anyway
Cars and tech the are many beautiful AWD cars this looks weird to me but. to each his own
Debating on turning in my 2013 dodge avenger r/t for a lease of this car. Should I do it?
I live in Michigan right away so this car would be practical for me. Just wondering if it would be worth an upgrade. My payment is $240 a month right now
Zack krohn same here. I drive a beater 07 Ford Focus right now. I like the look of the challenger but the dodge fca dealership turns me away based on my age when I try to simply test drive one

Just needs the base 5.7 Hemi. Nothing fancy. The Charger has it.
Paul Frankel on the old generation
I think Dodge's reason for why the AWD is only offered in a v6 platform is a poor one. They couldn't even make it an option for people who are willing to pay for it? Something tells me their AWD system simply can't function with V8 power
Harris Montevallo It use to with the older Charger RT awd... this is just a cash grab.. before they switch the charger/challanger platform to the Alfa guilia
Doesn’t it share the same awd as the Durango? I believe the Durango can still have awd and a v8 but not sure?
Hmmm really mulling over buying this now or waiting for the new WRX STI coming out in 2020. What do you guys think?
Musicizmyremedy WRX will have a better all wheel drive system, and would be a lot more fun to drive. I would only get this if it had a V8 option.. seeing how heavy it is.
Subtractinginfini Great point. Although owning a muscle car with an AWD system would've been super cool. Hopefully they come out with a V8 option, if so I'm sold!

were you using all seasons in the video
they need to use the design of the shakedown concept car challenger
Was the lift kit optional?
I'm working for Dodge I was waiting for Hellcat AWD
Fine choice of sparkling water. New York State's finest.
Damn i wanna get this car
Put the awd in the scat pack and hellcat and im interested...
Boy are you a lucky guy, if my mother saw me in a t shirt in the winter time shed start swinging with a broom !
what color is the car is it the redline tri coat?
I wonder if it would be possible to swap in a V8. Either 5.7 or 6.4.
General Zod stick to comic books dude that makes no sense lol
I need this interior!
Does it come with a manual transmission?
But does it come in black?
that gas cap looks awful with those big "F U E L" letters, as if no one knows that's where the gas goes
kk P it’s retro looking
Nice. Would be nicer with the Hemi but I bet that would really fuck up Mopars CAFE #'s.
Lol i live in Louisiana where it doesn't snow or get really cold! 😂 so would it be pointless for me to get this?
if it rains a lot awd is great too
TheSturmtiger2 😱 truee i didn't think about that! 😂 it does rain alot here
same for where I live
I wouldnt
prettyrickyd47 he means raccoon. Since there is a lot of trash in LA, they have one of the largest populations of raccoons. #raccoonlivesmatter
You're in Maine, in the snow. Might wanna wear a long sleeve shirt and put on a jacket lol. I've lived there for most of my teenage years. Nice car btw.
Dodge should've added AWD to the 5.7 liter challenger as well.
the V6 can barely move that thing, with even more weight now it weighs more than many SUV's and sedans.
Justin Bouche what about for the charger can the v6 move it well
Justin Bouche gonna get out dragged by a Murano hahahab
Bahahahaha
Justin Bouche I had the V6 Charger as a rental for a week and a half while my car was in the body shop after getting by a careless driver. The V6 made the car sluggish with how heavy the car is
Tyrone Long not true lol your opinion either your rental car was defect or some BS lol ..
im waiting for v8 awd muscle car
Is this the Tricoat red
Most people who buy challengers and chargers....usually put big shiny rims on them and drive slow through their hoods blasting music, so I can understand why they were like mehh we'll just put a v6
so fca made the heaviest car in the segment heavier, then stuck it with the least powerful engine in the segment. FCA for you
Blake Swan this is actually the lightest car they offer now
Midwest Mopars I'm sorry but you are wrong. The standard V6 without awd is lighter. I mean even common sense should tell you that. I feel your slogan might be a bit bias. Did they fix the bolts on the drive shift from coming off on this Challenger?
cars.com
Blake Swan no the rwd is lighter but I'm saying the challenger is lighter than their other vehicles. It's the lightest one they make now that the viper and dart are in the past
Midwest Mopars you saying all Dodge vehicles? Or of its competitors?
Blake Swan dodge products
What music starts at 0:14?
I could use one of those here in Michigan!
when an AWD chally was debuted I was interested to see how it would perform . now I find out it's a v6 and only sends power to all wheels at certain times . smh
First Name yeah like when you need it keeps it in two wheels when not needed if they did it so it ran all four all the time you’d have shitty mileage! Duh!
2:13 cite the source please? I'd like to see annual sales reports that support that most Challengers sold are V6
It looks good
So this is basically for 60 year old women who like the looks of a muscle car but cant drive, so they put in a V6 and AWD? I was hoping to see something new and crazy.
Gilbert McGillicutty except its mostly middle age dads that buy them
That’s good they gave it awd. Still not my kind of car, but good for dodge for doing that.
I can't afford a Challenger V8. I could afford this thing, but the city I live in hasn't seen snow in 100 years.
i had an 15 scat pack 6.4, it was stupidest car i ever own, could not handle even with a $3000 KW suspension, car was all over the place, just looks and engine sound.
Great car!
....I am sooooooo going to get a another SRT 392... in white.. or maybe that dark blue.....leather...tan....yesss.....
I don't know
I still wish the challenger would update its looks
The front looks incredibly nice
Same as the back
But the shape
If you look at it from 3/4 rear view it looks fat
Same as the 3/4 front
I mean it's still (in my opinion) the best looking muscle car there is ATM
Specially since they mauled the Mustangs face for 2018
I really hope when they do update the challenger
The face remains the same and the rear
But please do something about that shape haha
Oh I thought they want to put that I all wheel drive on Hellcat models!
34K for a "sports" car that could get beat by a minivan?? No thanks.
That's odd. Haven't been beaten by any minivans yet. Unless you run into a sleeper V8 with 500HP. I'm gonna say that would be pretty rare.
not to mention that you can get a 5.0 v8 mustang for 32k, sad
Why don't they discontinue the sxt??
Those prius tires scream V6 Challenger
somebody has been working out ....
How much does it cost, men?
I will say design is good
I hate that all the LX platform AWD models have the non-dished rims on them. I assume that this is because of the hubs or the offset being different because of the AWD gear but it still looks dumb.
finally awd
Challenger GT with a V6??? No thanks
Damn, all the good muscle cars get ruined. The charger became a sedan, the challenger now has a v6, and in 2020, the mustang is becoming a hybrid. Hopefully Chevorelt won't mess up the camaro.
ahh finally someone who's not british
Rally Challenger? I don't care what anyone thinks but i'd like that....
I love how dodge keeps trying to stress this as a muscle car which it is not.....
ZenZory Overload who cares!?
Pony car. Or V6 Muscle Car (new definition)
My grandpa has this car
if they offered this with a hemi, I maybe would've considered. MAYBE
can this shit handle a set of twin turbos?
probably not.
no mpg?..
Get a 2014 Dodge Charger RT AWD that has a v8
hell cat is coming or should i say hell demon
The awd option sounds cool. But put a v8 in it, then I'll buy it.
offer a v8 awd and i may go buy one today
If they made that with a V8.... Then hell yes! Why would you put a V6 in any American "Muscle Car"?
Hellcat AWD please DODGE....😎
