I just bought one and I’m a very good snow driver, this thing is a monster. I’m beyond impressed. Would recommend to anyone living up north to get one as a daily driver. I was flying around Trucks.
Mustafa Khuzaima msrp is 38 k with almost every option. 33 k for the car standard with a lot of standard options. I had a 200S awd with the same set up and it went 5.5 0-60. This car will be around 6 flat to 6.5. That's still quick for a car that size. Add a supercharger for 3-4 k and it'll be on the level of a 392 SRT

I have the V6 Challenger (2016 SXT Plus) and it's by no means a "slug". In fact, the "zero-to-speed-limit" performance is similar to the vehicle I sold to get this, a 2015 Mustang GT 6spd manual (Challenger is an 8spd AT). Even the common "0-60" measure results in a difference of only 1.5 sec. between these two vehicles. Big whoop, and a great trade off for the 22-26mpg I routinely get on the Challenger. As to the AWD on a vehicle like this: I think the issue would be the width of the tires "plowing" instead of cutting through the snow, resulting in a less-than-manageable driving experience. I recently had a 2 year lease on a 2014 Dodge Charger RT AWD with 18" stock all season tires, and while the traction was decent in slippery conditions involving less than an inch or so of snow, the car would be a challenge to steer straight ahead in any sort of accumulation of snow. The concept seems appealing--to give a reasonably sporty vehicle the ability to be used in all seasons, especially for most of us who live in areas of the country that experiences ice and snow. But I think the width of the tires will have to compromise the usual preferences by buyers who want the meaty look in exchange for practicality. That, or being forced to purchase (and store) a second set of tires and possibly rims, and if that's the case, a regular RWD model with a set of good winter tires/wheels would probably be a better option.

But that makes no sense. If the car determines you need all wheel drive then all four wheels should spin. If it's before rear wheel slip is detected that means power must be biased to the front wheels since they spin first. Edit: From what the lady said it sounds like the system can put all the power to the back, all OR front of the car. So in certain circumstances the car can be front wheel biased.
I would love a hemi un there, but most of all I would like to see a on/off switch for the AWD just for the reason that you are a better judge for the driving conditions than a computer.
I just bought one and you can trick it to go into awd or rear wheel, turn the wipers on for 10-15 seconds and awd will turn on. Turn off the car and back on, rear wheel drive kicks in
Don't mind the Penestar V6, personally *though i do think it deserves a dynamic update soon* but a semi-permanent or selectable AWD system is what I would prefer over the variable system they currently use, otherwise, I am delighted to see an AWD Challenger and hope with the funds FCA can build at least a base R/T 5.7L with such a drivetrain.
I don't know why they are only offering this in a V6. I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with a 5.7 Hemi and all wheel drive (QuadraDrive II). If they could mate that system to a Hemi in a Jeep over 10 years ago why can't they do it to a Challenger now?
If you live in Snow country with a lot of hills like I do, this car makes sense if you want sporty and don't want to keep it in the garage til April like alot of people do in New England.
The average car on the road is 12 yrs old. I just have 4 wheel abs, and part time 4WD. No traction control or stability control or road condition modes or snow tires or awd or adaptive awd or lane assist or limited slip/electronic differentials.

It would appear to be similar to the A.M.C. / MOPAR Eagle system 1981 - 87. Except instead of being driver controlled, it's computer controlled. I hope the driver gets an indicator light to signal when the car is in ALL Wheel Drive !

I have to wonder if the limitation of the V6 with the AWD drivetrain is due to packaging issues with the front transaxle or perhaps some power handling issues with the setup somewhere. You'd have to think they didn't design the first iteration to be able to handle 707 HP... I'm sure if it's a hit, and they can beef up the drivetrain it'll get at least the 5.7l eventually.
Own a 2019, loads of grip, realitively stable around the corners but a good bit of body roll due to the taller ride height and 2 tonne weight. 0-60 is slow for the hp and torque, at around 6-7 seconds depending on the road conditions and launch.
Has some decent potential for aftermarket modification though, pentastar is a robust engine, drivetrain is fairly strong, and can easily be boosted to 420-450 whp semi-reliably. Suspension has some ok options in the aftermarket, but honestly it's too young of a platform to have great options yet.
The Hellcat version of this car will be the Challenger Demon, calm down people. It's the hellcat's big brother basically. Reduced weight, rumored to be about 850 hp, AWD, body kit.

Obviously you meant that the V6 is all you get with the allwheel drive. Other engines are available for rwd. But there will not be a V8 with AWD, There has been AWD Chargers for a while now and they only come with the V6 and I Doubt there is a market for V8 Muscle with AWD.
Have they addressed the frameless windows freezing up in cold weather, rendering entry into the car impossible? Or the "enter n go" button on the door handle freezing and going inop? AWD doesn't matter if you can't get into the car. My '14 Challenger was the worst winter vehicle I've ever owned.

I'm a big Mopar guy but what's the hype over this? There's been AWD systems in a lot of Mopars for a few years now. The Magnum had it, the Charger has had it (even in the HEMI), the list goes on. So putting it on the Challenger was basically common sense...

we built the first AWD Challenger in 1993, no internet so lots of people don't know about it. i worked in Chrysler performance and research. it was 340 auto with British lyland runing gear. turns out the state police in Arizona needed a police car that could catch SUVs. i think the gas shortage and our failure to develop good economy cars killed development.
Buffalo calls for a car like this. The problem is, it's not a hemi. Make it a hemi and the ability to disengage AWD completely for summer fun. :) That way I can get rid of my winter 4x4 beater.
If there was the option of the 6.4L hemi I would be on my way to the dealer tomorrow. With the looks of the Challenger it just doesn't seem right to not have some power under the hood. I'm not even asking for the hell cat, just that 6.4L. Even the 5.7L would be tempting.
They had "great success" with the charger all wheel drive, yet last i checked they removed the awd from the v8 saying that it was unpopular. The AWD challenger really needed to be a v8. that's the point of a challenger. Its a freaking muscle car. If they wanted to do that and keep the charger limited to the v6, fine. but this is pointless. This is like buying a camero with a 4 cylinder. It looks like the real thing, but its just.. not.
Everyone on here saying it's slow if it's a V6 are stupid. The thing is this v6 is much more powerful than the older "muscular" V-8s. I love V8s and their sound... but specs are specs and if the V6 has better specs than a V8 then the V6 is more powerful. Some people just can't accept that I guess. The same people who say the new Raptor is weak, even though it's a torque monster and has 450 hp, more than any V8 competor. Be realistic. V8s sound awsome but just because a car has a 6 doesn't make it slow
269 ft lbs is weak relative to a v8, do not be confused by the hp number. Too little torque to move this heavy beast off the line. 8.2 for 0-60 is ford focus acceleration. It is a slow car posing as a fast car.
It is slow, Challengers are heavy AF. Sure it has 300hp, but the BRZ is pretty much tied with it, with 100 less hp, because that's how damn heavy it is. My 1995 Talon TSI AWD, IF it were STOCK, would tie this thing 0-60, and beat in the 1/4 by a tenth. 0-60 on this thing is 6.3, it's average at best, by modern standards. And that WOULD be ok, if Dodge wasn't trying to market it as the "first awd muscle car". There are plenty of AWD cars that have been going a good bit faster, even in stock form, for over a decade if not 2 or 3. The bottom line is, I doubt anyone who wants a fast AWD car is going to be cross shopping this with the myriad of better alternatives, WRX/STI, BMW xdrive, Audi Quattro, Focus RS, etc. This car is for people who want the look but don't care much about the speed.
awd with a 6 cylinder is ideal for 4 season areas too much horsepower with awd is a good/bad thing. and you could always modify the 6 cylinder with after market mods.
everyone crying for a hemi , you probably couldn't even put down all 385 hp in the snow anyways , 305hp will get you where you need to go just fineand still get 20+ mpg

AWD comes in handy living in Michigan, but it's honestly not needed. RWD and all seasons is all I've ever needed lol
FWD, all seasons, and stability control is pretty good. Of course AWD with snow tires would be better.

It didn't need AWD. SNOW TIRES AND SKILL. People think AWD means they can't get stuck. It just gives you better take off. That's it.
Those wheels are also unique to (and the only option on) AWD Challengers and Chargers currently, so that's another way to tell it apart from others.
If there was the option of the 6.4L hemi I would be on my way to the dealer tomorrow. With the looks of the Challenger it just doesn't seem right to not have some power under the hood. I'm not even asking for the hell cat, just that 6.4L. Even the 5.7L would be tempting.

Correction: that's not a standard challenger interior. It has the suede seats, 8in screen, sport track package... that's what I can see from the video

They had "great success" with the charger all wheel drive, yet last i checked they removed the awd from the v8 saying that it was unpopular.
The AWD challenger really needed to be a v8. that's the point of a challenger. Its a freaking muscle car. If they wanted to do that and keep the charger limited to the v6, fine. but this is pointless.

Everyone on here saying it's slow if it's a V6 are stupid. The thing is this v6 is much more powerful than the older "muscular" V-8s. I love V8s and their sound... but specs are specs and if the V6 has better specs than a V8 then the V6 is more powerful. Some people just can't accept that I guess. The same people who say the new Raptor is weak, even though it's a torque monster and has 450 hp, more than any V8 competor. Be realistic. V8s sound awsome but just because a car has a 6 doesn't make it slow
269 ft lbs is weak relative to a v8, do not be confused by the hp number. Too little torque to move this heavy beast off the line. 8.2 for 0-60 is ford focus acceleration. It is a slow car posing as a fast car.

It is slow, Challengers are heavy AF. Sure it has 300hp, but the BRZ is pretty much tied with it, with 100 less hp, because that's how damn heavy it is. My 1995 Talon TSI AWD, IF it were STOCK, would tie this thing 0-60, and beat in the 1/4 by a tenth. 0-60 on this thing is 6.3, it's average at best, by modern standards. And that WOULD be ok, if Dodge wasn't trying to market it as the "first awd muscle car". There are plenty of AWD cars that have been going a good bit faster, even in stock form, for over a decade if not 2 or 3. The bottom line is, I doubt anyone who wants a fast AWD car is going to be cross shopping this with the myriad of better alternatives, WRX/STI, BMW xdrive, Audi Quattro, Focus RS, etc. This car is for people who want the look but don't care much about the speed.

awd with a 6 cylinder is ideal for 4 season areas too much horsepower with awd is a good/bad thing. and you could always modify the 6 cylinder with after market mods.

This isn't clearly a biased test for dodge, I mean come on, Dodge supplied all the cars, and they housed it on snowy roads and conditions, and they gave you the AWD Challenger...Kinda makes you wanna barf right?
