People forget how loud Arrow head was before the renovations. It's STILL the loudest stadium in the NFL, but it was absolutely deafening back in the 90's.
I had just become a true NFL fan the prior year and I became a Big fan of the Chiefs. I loved the roar of the crowd and dreamed of being at Arrowhead and in 2007 I finally went , what a blast
A great game by DT. While going for sack #8, Krieg escaped and threw the game winning touchdown. The loss of the game took away the record setting moment
Craig's wife that night "hey honey what's the new outfit you got on called" Mr. Craig " It's my new Derrik Thomas suit babe!" Wife: "it looks a little uncomfortable, you should take it off" Craig "it's not up to me at this point"
Still the most talented and dominant pass rusher to ever play the game. Everybody loves to say LT is the GOAT in that regard, but his abilities and natural talent were a complete tier below what Derrick Thomas was. LT was just the first to do it. And while I'm not taking away from his dominance at the time, he just wasn't the pass rushing phenom that DT was. To this day I can't think of another Edge/ OLB to call his shot at the goal line with the "safety" signal and actually get it like DT did. The man was a legend and died way too young. I was so glad when he finally got inducted into the HOF. We may never see a pass rushing specimen like him again that can actually put it all together and dominate the way he did.
Also, and one can see it if they pay attention, what DT had over LT, he was a step faster off the line!!!! A video on here broke down their speed in slow motion!!!! Derrick is a bit faster!!!!
I was there with my Dad. He passed the year before they won the superbowl with Mahomes. He was a lifetime Chiefs fan. That was a great memory. Wish he could have seen Mahomes
I knew the surgeon who attended Derrick after his automobile accident. He described the injury thusly: 1) Stack one fist atop the other, 2) off set one or the other by the width of said fist(s), 3) that is how hopelessly broken DT's spinal cord was.
For all you old-timers out there (such as myself) Dan Saleumua was almost unblockable on Tecmo Bowl (which is STILL one of the Top 5 games in gamer console history)
I remember watching this game on TV when I was young and during the broadcast, he 6 sacks - then, some point later in the game - he magically has 7 sacks. Re-watching these highlights confirms this. He had 5 sacks, and 2 half-sacks at the end of the highlights, resulting in 6 total - confirmed by the graphic @ 8:16 Then, @ 8:57, without anymore sacks (just another replay of 6), he has 7.
I had remembered one of the Network guys during a halftime report declare Thomas ALMOST got the 7h sack against Seattle but Krieg threw a TD pass to win it. I think it was Bob Costas. Anyways... For years I had believed he just tied the record at 6 and never got that 7th sack. It has happened before, (recently actually) where the NFL corrects its statistics. So chances are the Networks (and Bobby) had the stat incorrect and I never knew of the correction by the NFL. Looking for proof, the best way to find it, is in printed material at the time. Magazines.... And.... FOOTBALL CARDS... (the back that has the information on it mentioning it). I found TWO... from 1991 releases that do credit him with the 7 sacks record in the game. After seeing this video, I do disagree that the hit that caused the fumble (for the def score) should not have been counted as a sack. The play was a fumble and fumble recovery and def TD. But... the NFL controls their own rules. Here are the two football cards backs I found (images) from ebay or something that you can read. Obviously, being a Bama fan, I'm prejudiced, but folks DT was an athletic freak of nature...Greatest defensive player in NCAA history, and I realize most fans think Lawrence Taylor is the greatest defensive player in NFL history (and deservedly so), but IF there was ever someone that might actually have an argument it would be Derrick Thomas...I realize the "different players-different generation" argument, but both LT & DT would still be Pro Bowlers today...Both were ahead of their time...RIP DT 💔🤜🤛🙏
He wasn’t the sack king through out his career… but there was one day he broke the single game record!!!!! Hit the Gste for 58 🥰🥰 My favorite Kc player
Derrick Thomas in my opinion was and still the best old to ever play the game his explosiveness is total 👌 🔥 or was amazing in this game in particular evan though K.C. loss cause their offense stunk. All of his sacks were pressure sacks as were must of his sacks must of Lawrence Taylor's sacks were coverage sacks the QB holding on the ball too long but L.T. was probably more explosive in the open field but D.T. was a more explosive pass rusher.
Seahawks stadium, or its later name, Lumen Field, is STILL the loudest stadium! (I know. Game was played at Arrowhead) Yes, let’s not forget that although the late great Derrick Thomas had an NFL record seven sacks, Seattle still won the game! R.I.P DT!!! 🙏❤️🙏
I heard this color commentator call dozens of games, yet I can't recall his name. Paul somebody? Definitely a former player, I want to say for the Cardinals.

That’s interesting. Why is it quieter now?
My favorite Chief player. RIP D.Thomas 👏🏽👍🏽

One of the greatest!
A great game by DT. While going for sack #8, Krieg escaped and threw the game winning touchdown. The loss of the game took away the record setting moment
One of my all-time favorite Dave Kreig moments....
I watched this game live.
The most important stat is the missed 8th sack that lead to a game winning TD toss by Krieg.
I remember it vividly. Neil Smith was a bad man too.
Wow, I was just about to bring up the exact same thing.
Craig's wife that night "hey honey what's the new outfit you got on called"
Mr. Craig " It's my new Derrik Thomas suit babe!"

My coach told me bout this in highschool only reason I’m here now

"Look out- Derrick Thomas on the prowl" 🤯🤯
Derrick Thomas, Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier, Man i wish the Chiefs had a stud in the middle now.
derrick johnson was in the middle thomas was an edge resher
Hz-Wraith YT they didn’t need one I guess
Reggie Ragland. He is a straight Stud. Built By Bama just as Thomas was.
@@thegoblinator2690 he’s in Detroit now though
Chris Jones?
I don't think that moment of greatness will ever be replicated. 7 sacks 1 game. WOW and I watched this game.
Happy Birthday DT58
I remember watching this game live 🤯🤯🤯
Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith…what a combo!
Kansas Chiefs Legend + #BuiltByBama
Absolutely relentless

I still have his rookie card
For all you old-timers out there (such as myself) Dan Saleumua was almost unblockable on Tecmo Bowl (which is STILL one of the Top 5 games in gamer console history)
True. Certain teams were terrifying to play on Tecmo Bowl, especially in the playoffs...top 5 game no doubt.
Please refer to it as tecmo superbowl, huge difference. Also every nose tackle was unstoppable, which is why they are banned in tournament play.
Top 5 LB of all time
I can't see anyone breaking that record anytime soon

How did you put a time stamp for 8:57 but not actually listen to how it was 7 sacks at 8:50? Lol

WE JUST WON 58 for 58
LEGEND, nuff said
I hate when they show footage of this game yet cut it short of DT's 8th sack slipping through his fingers, only for the winning TD to be thrown

When I played the video game Tecmo Bowl 1 & 2 on Nintendo and picked that team to play I would get about 15 sacks a game with Derrick Thomas 😂 #beast
Lol, spammers 😂 that game was too fun

I got DT right behind LT as the best defensive player ever
7 sacks in game is insane
It was actually 6 1/2 sacks. But dude was a beast when i was a kid.
7
9
I beat his sack record in a game on madden nfl 22 with 9 sacks in a game with my created defensive lineman the 2024 nfl season

I wonder if the LT was bench after that.
Noisy crowd
Kinda disappointing to learn he really only had 6 1/2. Also memory is a tricky thing. I could have sworn this game was in pouring rain.
I heard this color commentator call dozens of games, yet I can't recall his name. Paul somebody? Definitely a former player, I want to say for the Cardinals.
Thomas on one side. Smith on the other. It was unfair for most teams
Which Pixel was Derrick Thomas?
Awesome news A-L! Let me know when you're finished posting your improved version and I'll pull this crappy one in a second.
The blue one
The holding penalty was all you could do to keep your QB upright 🤷🏼 and it still didn’t work
It's like the Michael JORDAN of sacks said hi.
It’s more like the Paul George of sacks considering he did all that just to lose the game
Imagine if he'd not gotten injured early in the game
He didn't get injured early. He got injured right around the end of the 3rd quarter.
This footage looks like it’s from 1890 💀💀💀
The defense was the offense.
Imagine giving up 7 sacks in a division game. What the hell was Seattle doing? Lol
91
My Hawks!!! 😂😂😂
How do you get 7 sacks and lose lol
Bad offense
Ask the Titans lol beat by Cincinnati in the divisional game after Burrow got sacked 7 times.
him and micah parsons are identicql
I bet Krieg could not get off that field fast enough after the game.
Seattle just sucked 😂
He missed the sack that would of won the game. Go seahawks
Fuck you bitch
Chiefs lead seahawks 33-19 all time 😂😂

Didn't win that day...
Of course it was the Seahawks
