Very glad you made a video about D.T. Being a Chiefs fan myself, I would consider him to be the G.O.A.T. pass rush extrodanaire. Dude was a freak of nature on defense. Definitely a top 5 LB. The craziest part? 7 sacks in one game. *7. SACKS.* Records like these would make people like him have superhuman-like abilities. R.I.P. to the one and only D.T.

He got Dave Craig 7 times in a game, and he got Jeff George 6 times in a game against the Raiders. 13 sacks in 2 games, different seasons. But the game against the Raiders was the season opener, and Derrick started the season, game 1, 6 sacks. He was a tenacious beast when going after the QB, and nobody could block him for an entire game, most couldnt handle him for a full set of downs. I grew up watching Deacon Jones, but I'm telling you Derrick Thomas was the best Ive ever seen.

After LT? Maybe you should take another look, measure the explosiveness off the snap, and time the speed to the QB, and then notice that Derrick Thomas only played 11 years, before his tragic accident left him a parapalegic, and then his subsequent death by a blood clot. Had Derrick played another 5 years, he likely would have gone down in history as the alltime sacks leader, and the greatest OLB to ever have played the game. But, like his Daddy, Derrick went out early, so we'll never know. But you can rest assured that Derrick will never bow to LT, or anyone who came before, or who comes after, because we're not likely to see the likes of Derrick Thomas again!! RIP DT.

Along with Montana and Neil Smith, Derrick Thomas is why I became a Chiefs fan in the 90's despite living in Chicago. He looked and moved more like a safety than a linebacker. His technique was special, always going after the ball or wrapping up the legs rather than headhunting.

And, in excellent field position! Not to mention the defense used to score as well and get safeties all the time! 70 point game would eventually happen!

He’s hit in the end zone Derrick Thomas nails Steve Young in the end zone for two points!!
I think he gave Dave Krieg nightmares
In the 80s there was Lawrence Taylor in the 90s there was Derrick Thomas he should have gotten that 8th sack no matter what but no one has gotten 7 sacks in a game but him his record will stand the test of time R.I.P. Thomas

It was a sad day when Thomas passed , guy was a relentless machine at times. I remember the game he had against the Raiders where him and Neil Smith spent the entire game destroying the team. In total they had like 10-11 sacks , Thomas had 7. It was like every snap he was in backfield chasing one of Raiders QB's around.
If he had lived he would have been a coach. His drive would have had guys kill for him on the field I'm sure.

Every time the opposing offense had the ball, you were just waiting for the defense to sack, intercept, or cause a fumble. It was like when the Chiefs were on defense, they were really on offense.

I’m pretty sure there was a solid 5 minutes of just Dave Krieg getting sacked in this video. I don’t think any linebacker has ever had a quarterback’s number like Derrick Thomas had on Dave Krieg.

I honestly don't know if there's been another player with five sacks in game, much less recording six sacks in a game twice and having a seven sack game. Those are some records that are probably going to stick around for awhile.
