Always enjoyed Reds and cubs not the same as the Cubs and Cardinals special event when they weren't in the same division. However I personally like it because I'm in Fort Wayne Indiana which is Cub territory but there's tons of Red fans. It's about the same distance from both cities roughly halfway between the two. So something special here. Back in the day it was a big rivalry originally Because Chicago and St Louis roughly the same distance from Chicago and Cincinnati. Course it's different with Illinois and Missouri being next to each other. And also to Cardinals are such an elite team are Cubs are kind of lovable losers. In Reds are somewhere in the middle so it wasn't quite the same dynamic. And laterv when are the Cubs and the Reds were both in the NL Central after they realigned the divisions Reds were never any good so it still wasn't the same thing.

2 ground rule doubles in that game for Cincinnati! Wow! If those batted balls were to go out of the park instead, the Cincinnati fans would have gotten their stadium fireworks exploding!

I know quite a bit about Riverfront Stadium's history in the World Series. When the A's played in the 1972 World Series against the Reds, the series started at Riverfront and ended there. Oakland's Gene Tenace blasted 2 homers in Game 1 at Riverfront - and later on, the A's won the series in 7 games - the A's winning the championship in Game 7 at Riverfront. The only pyrotechnics from the stadium was at the Oakland Coliseum. So, this World Series (1990) is a repeat of these two teams facing each other 18 years prior. Riverfront started to add the big fireworks to the Reds organization around the 1980s onward, especially when Pete Rose got his 4,192 hit at the stadium, where a 500-shot fireworks display was blasting in celebration of that hit. Fireworks went off also after the Reds won the ballgame after that milestone too (about 50 more aerial shots). Well, I see new Reds ballplayers in the 1990 WS who were a bit like the old-time Big Red Machine--like Paul O'Neill, who played just like Tony Perez, and Barry Larkin, who almost played like Joe Morgan.

Stupid is, stupid does. Even after all the evidence that was presented to the comissioners office, Pete Rose denied he bet on baseball. Yet years later, after continuous denials, he finally admitted that he bet on baseball, in part to peddle anything and everything to make a buck. Sad ending indeed for one of the best ball players of all time.

This was the Penalty Bowl. No matter how hard the officials tried to sabotage the Trojans, they dominated anyway! Remember that the Hawkeyes were #5 in the country in run defense and USC ran all over them easily! FIGHT ON ✌

I was at the Jets-Browns game while this contest was being played. My friends and I were listening to updates on the radio and we couldn't believe the things we were hearing about Stephone Paige. How can I guy have 238 yards receiving in the first-half? That was before Fantasy Football became popular, but if it was, it would have been nice to have Stephone Paige that day.

Too bad the Chiefs didn't bring that momentum into the playoffs. The stupidest thing Marty did was put Elvis Grbac into the starting QB spot rather than Rich Gannon who was doing well for the Chiefs. Marty being stupid conservative at the worst spot in the playoffs.
