  • here we go again, part 2 in the process of finding a new light wind wing. I'm currently testing a 7m Ventis, this is my first sesh on it. I'm not sure if I'll do a full review of this wing, it depends on how much time I have with the different projects I have coming up. I own a v2 6.5m Unit and I already prefer this... yes it's for light wind but it's def got performance so I'm sure I'll be grabbing instead of the 6.5m in most situations. I'm pretty stoked, but more to come... I haven't figured out my ultimate light wind wing yet!
    Gear used this session:
    7m Duotone Ventis
    75L Armie FG board
    HA925 foil
    795 mast
    60 fuse
    180 speed tail, 1.5 degree shims
    I'm riding at 77kg.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes!! If an 8m was available I would have snagged it. The 7m is really sweet, it’s both easy and powerful, kinda like a cross between a Unit and a Slick? Let me now what you think of the 8m!

    • @jjmc4
      @jjmc4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OCEANBOUND1 Flew the 8m today. It rocks. I have a 6.5 slick and the 8 wingspan isn't a problem. That strut is looong though. Felt tight, powerful and really pretty fast. Ciao.

    I love that the handle gap isn't right over the wing's center of pressure so you can one hand it without the packdown PITAs of a boom.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% agree! this is a nice wing! I hear the Units next year will have the same handles, it's everything you wanted boom-wise, without the boom... SCORE! I wish I could try the 8m but I think the 7m will replace my 6.5m Unit, and I'm totally happy with that. thanks for the comment and I wish you an awesome weekend!

      @@OCEANBOUND1 But maybe one complain, with the CWC V2, when I hold the wing with both hands all the way in the back of the handles, I can have both arms completely stretched out and the wing is almost fully powered, i dont know if thats possible with hard handles.

  • @wingfoilingsimssee
    @wingfoilingsimssee ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey man! I just got my 8sqm. Love it. Coming from the CWC 8.0 this thing is much easier to handle in maneuvers against the wind due to its design and not only because of the lovely handles. I bet they provide the 2024 unit with a longer front handle. The ventis pumps great, jumps great, feels a bit heavier I’d say as well but only if the wind is simply not enough. The only minor issue with the ventis is the packing. I only manage to pack the wing inverted what I don’t have to with the new units. Btw: staying with f-one foils I changed to duotone units completely and love the handling! I could easily go from 8 to 5.0 when the wind picks up.
    The 6.0 feels a bit heavy in my hands. It pulls a bit to hard but not in a forward momentum way. Do you feel the same on the 6.5? Maybe I simply have to get used to. I needed a few moments to adapt to the rigid handles but love them now. Stoked as you are. Hang loose bud 🤙🏼

    • @foilsurfmachines
      @foilsurfmachines ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, 2024 Unit’s get the Ventis handles. The 2023 big Slicks are better than the 2023 big Units. The Slicks pull you forward instead of downwind.

    • @wingfoilingsimssee
      @wingfoilingsimssee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@foilsurfmachines hi Dwight. Makes sense with the ventis front handle. Feels like a boom without having a boom. The pull feel is only on the 6. Down from 5.0 it feels perfect.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeeeoowww awesome bud! I totally agree with all of that. I wish I had an 8m to try, that’s the true lightwind test for me, there just were not any available. The 2024 units are gonna be great if they go with these handles. That’s gonna be quite a decision year! Stoked you are still riding FOne foils. They mentioned they may send me some to review… if they send the right ones… who knows what happens! I do love Armie but I’m always looking for something better. Fingers crossed.
      Thanks bud and I wish you an amazing weekend!

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @wingfoilingsimssee the 6m… is that a strike or a Unit? The 6.5m I have is a v2, kinda apples and oranges but it feels light for sure. That was a good year.

    • @wingfoilingsimssee
      @wingfoilingsimssee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OCEANBOUND1 I meant the 2023 unit 6.0. But @foilsurfingmachines said the slicks in bigger sizes have a better forward pulling design than the units. But I’m not the boom guy. Tried but it always felt like I have a boom and then the wing in my hands. Simply no direct feel for me. And the diameter of the boom is thicker anyway. Had a nova 1.9 from north out these days in 45kn wind. Felt really good and like the round and not oval rigid handles even more than the duotones I must admit.

  • @DaveSails7
    @DaveSails7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the review! So does the Ventis have the upwind ability of the Unit? Also wondering does it have the instability issue flagged out like the Unit 3?

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sup bud! Hard to say, due to limited time I’ve spent on the v3. I could do a comparison of the 6.5 v2 unit I have, not sure if it will be relevant. If more people start showing up with more v3 Units I’ll totally try them back to back.

    Hi, don't your glasses fog up when falling into the water? I just got brand new sport glasses with all the anti-fog and stuff, but it still doesn't work at all when using them for winging. First time i fall into the water, I can't see anything anymore because of the fog on the glasses. Pretty annoying as I payed 500€ for those glasses :(...

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      sup bud! they fog! it's so annoying. I don't use glasses much because of that... and the fact I've lost many pairs over the years that it seems pointless to keep using them. I also just can't stand the water droplets in my vision. I've never found a pair that truly works well. that's why I'm using a hat more often these days. but if I wear glasses, it's usually on chill days and I try super hard not to fall!
      good luck my friend. I wish you an awesome day!

      go big! a 6m is probably a great size to start with, and a second wing could be like a 4m or 4.5m. if you have lighter winds in your area, you could consider a 7m but it will act differently, the Ventis is a great 7m, other brands are more floppy in the canopy. Let me know what you end up getting!

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol I never said I always make good decisions! I really wanted it to work. The other 7m demo vid I did last week was on the same setup. Both situations I thought it would pick up later. But doing the lightwind thing on the 925 was a good test, weird things happen out there and not I know. I have a HA1325 for my light wind wing. Good lift but fast, so good for small groundswell. I’m borrowing a 1525 right now and that gets me out even lower. I imagine I’ll do a big MA if I get into DW.
