Jeremy you just saved me a pile of greenbacks. So far the two more-or-less flat water sessions I’ve seen on Ytube have been very convincing that this thing has way too much going on to be fun. Especially true for us land locked folks since over 14 mph wind almost never happens locally. I can see this being a real boon to downwind guys as long as the wind doesn’t die but that’s about it.
yeah I mean maybe you could get the 6.2m to work but it's a lot of work keeping that thing out of the water and in the air in lighter winds, and things like jibing and whatnot are harder as well. I hope to use it for dw! but I have to practice a lot more with it, need more wind!! thanks bud, I wish you an awesome weekend!!

Dang it you made the 5 look usable. Had written off sizes larger than a 4. Still think the 4 is the right call but you gave me something to think about. Florida problems, bigger will get more use. I only want this for dw assist so thinking the 4m and only waiting for 20 plus days is still the call.
yeah I think for dw assist the smaller sizes in lots of wind is the call. I'm not sure how yr supposed to stuff this 5m in the belt! I'll try, eventually, still have lots to get used to. I do wish I got a 4m in some ways but now I'm OK with the 5.1m. I may have gotten a 2.9m too. looking forward to that super windy day where I can use that to get up on foil and stow it in the belt. no matter what I need 15mph, and jibing in 15 is kinda annoying cause it doesn't drift as well so it does weird things or I run into it, no matter how tight I try to turn. still getting used to it. more to come! good luck with yours if you have one. I also bought a 5.1m². I tried it in wind speeds of 4-5m, but I couldn't ride it... After that, I practiced parawing operation on land and learned how to pump. I found that if I fixed my front hand and operated it up and down with my back hand, I could pump efficiently. I tried it in conditions with wind speeds of 6-7m.
right on bud! I honesty cannot make it work yet in less than 15mph, and under 12mph I can barely keep it in the air. def a different experience on the land than the water, you have the benefit of not getting pulled with the wind and just have more leverage to keep it up. I'm just doing it as a one-handed operation, and that seems to work well for me. I used my other hand a little the first day, mostly for balance, and find it messes me up more than with just using one hand for everything. good luck bud! LMK how you progress!
yup that's the plan! I hope to have my dw board back in a week or so. I tried a smaller foil and couldn't get up in the same like 15-16mph avg. so I really hope the dw board will enable the smaller foil. otherwise i'm gonna have to be real lit to make the smaller foils work. I'll keep trying and let y'all know! thanks, I wish you an awesome rest of your day!

I was very curious to learn more and didn’t realize you had been experimenting with it as well. Deep, deep respect .. You are really in for trying EVERYTHING!... But harness??? .. as you said your are aginst harness in winging and now talking about a harness for BRM ? I did not see any video with harness with BRM.. Have a good week end
thanks bud! lol, that gopro always gets me in trouble. I'd be such a better rider if I wasn't constantly messing with it. and yeah, the harness... I like the idea of packing it away on a dw run, but it's certainly an advanced move I'm going to have to practice more. and until I get better, then I'm only gonna be practicing it with more wind. I had an OK sesh today with about the same wind as this video and it was great practice and I'm still stoked. but lots of little things to learn and get used to. more soon. I wish you an awesome weekend!!
Nice to see the parawing in action! Unrelated question... I'm looking at buying an Armstrong Midlength board. Can you elaborate on what you had repaired on your board? Was it a defect from the factory?
hey bud, thanks! so on my 4th session my rail cracked. it was maybe 2 inches long, on the carbon fiber part near by back foot and it didn't come from a hit. they concluded that it was an over sanding issue, and agreed to "pay" for it by giving me credit for a future purchase. I seem to be a magnet for any sort of lemons, my luck dictates that things fail on a regular basis, a lot of times on new stuff. so as much as I want to think these boards are built super solid, IMO they focused on lightweight over durability, which is fine. my old FG I repaired over a dozen times, it cracked pretty easily especially on teh nose but many rail hits as well. Every time I repaired I felt like it was stronger than before, so I was fine with it on that board. this board, they showcase the CF on the rails and unfortunately it makes a repair job harder if you want it to still look nice. I know the whole thing isnt wrapped in CF, so I'm not sure where they put it and it's almost like they put it on the rails for show. so don't expect a totally solid board. it's more like a surfboard (with the same construction) that you can certainly baby and take care of and it will last or you could be like me and will inevitably need to repair it multiple times. I hope that helps.
@@OCEANBOUND1 Thank you for all your videos and gear reviews. It really helps in making decisions as to what to buy. I really appreciate all the hard work you put into your channel for us. And, thank you for your detailed description of what happened with your Armstrong ML board. MUCH appreciated. I'm still planning on purchasing an ML and hoping that you just got a lemon. I've been riding Armstrong foils for a few years now and really like their products! No disappointment there... however, this will be my first Army board. Reading the construction description on their website, it looks like they are "double skin carbon PVC sandwich" which 'should' be quite robust. We'll see! Thank you again, keep up the hard work and stoke!! Pacific NW checking in!
yup a lot of people are saying that. and I get it. there are cheaper brands out there but the designs don't look as solid to me. I'm def paying for Greg's design, and I suppose to be an early adopter. but I doubt they will go down in price. it really is a cool design, it will be cool to see how it evolves. I wish you a good day!!
I agree! so we still got some work to go to make that feel normal, and I'm not sure how easy that 5.1m will pack away, but I'll be trying it soon when I have enough wind and get upwind a ways. I'm still not 100% on jibes and whenever I fall in I tend to lose upwind gains. but getting better at it and only 2 real sesisons in. more soon! I wish you an awesome day bud!!
what I am wondering is whether this will make DW board redundant and we can now dw on short boards as this looks a lot more power than a paddle. i’ve got the 4m coming and we have fairly chunky dw swell in Gisborne , Nz with regular side shore winds. Could be a bit a game changer and will be interested to see how we go on them in surf. 😮
yeah I'm not sure. I've been using my ML 75L and a big foil. I tried a smaller foil yesterday and had to go back to the bigger one I initially had success on. so I look forward to my dw board getting fixed and I hope that makes things a little easier with a smaller foil. Ideally I want to ride my HA1180, cause that can be pretty nimble and fun. LMK how it goes bud! good luck and I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend!
will really depend on your weight and board. I got the 4m up and riding flatwater first go with Jermy, but I also know the North Easters down Wainui coast and how it can drop especially off Makarori. I've just ordered a 5.1, I'm 82kg but very much have that coast at home in mind for it.
@@tom-foil I totally get that! I got to winging cause after a few years of exclusively kite foiling I got bored and my body got soft. Winging changed everything and gave me more passion about waves than ever before all while getting me into the best shape of my life. As the journey continues, I’ve been dabbling in dw and now this. It’s interesting, fun to be part of something new, and I do think this is unique enough that it’s here to stay. So the koolaid tastes different, I like trying new things. I still think winging is my main thang, but I said that about kiting and kite foiling at one point so who knows. Thanks for the comment, I wish you an awesome day!
@@OCEANBOUND1 I am hooked on the easy deployment. Grab and go. no pumping up wing! I dig how easy you make it look, but like everything each session gets better. Hopefully the third trip will be better. Love your content. Thanks also for the suggestion of moving the mid strings up to the top. Will try that. Now I know it is possible with the bigger sizes. I just get sketched about tangles, and not being able to deploy it out in the water. Such a struggle at times.
Curious, does it not steer as good as a real kite? Been wondering why nobody is able to sine fly it to make power. I wonder how it would compare to a trainer kite with bar in the right orientation, connected across the span instead of chord. I’m seeing people tie bars to trainer kites at the bridles. Still waiting on someone to youtube those setups. haha.
it does not steer like a real kite. the emphasis is on the angle of the wing/power, so you hold the bar vertical and messing with the angle is like pulling the bar in and out in a regular kite. so you miss the steering with the back lines as on a kite, but you can kinda steer it by moving the bar, it's just not as reactive. it's a cool design, I think people modifying trainer kites will not get the same experience. it's pretty unique IMO. not for everyone but a cool direction.
yes, I honestly kinda fear this is gonna tweak my shoulders. and I DO NOT want that so I'm hyper aware and hope to god I let go in any situation before it gets bad. I was going hard for 360 jumps and decided to stop cause it kept tweaking my shoulders by pulling them up, kinda like this thing. but in general, regular riding is probably fine. where I've already seen a little weirdness is trying upwind tacks... I think I'll get more used to it and hopefully it will feel "safer" thanks for the comment, I wish you an awesome day!!
hahaha yeah I ordered it the day they came out but we just haven't had a lot of wind. the anticipation was killing me! but it will be fun to play with this fall. the guys in Maui and the gorge are making them look good. I can't wait to make it look mediocre. thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!!
hahaha yeah I guess I wouldn't recommend if your everyday conditions was that chaotic. wings def dump power easier. but I'm getting more comfortable with it... and I'll continue to take it out and test the top end. at least there is no LE to pop on rocks but lots of strings that can get caught! you can live vicariously through me :) thanks bud I wish you an awesome day!
I hope so! my 107L dw board will be back soon, I put a large hole in it with my knee and it's getting some much needed love. I tried a smaller foil today and it didn't work, had to go back to this one. but I'm getting the hang of everything more, stoked to try it on a dw send.
Amazing work man 🙌 I am getting my 2.9m here in the UK in the next couple of days and the guys will be sending a 4m too once it's back in stock. I am only intending to use the parawing with my DW sup so hoping that the 2.9m will be good in strong wind and the 4m when the wind is light using my 113l DW sup and 130 lift Florence wing 🤞
Yeah bud! I also got a 2.9m and stoked to take that out on a crazy day. The 5.1m is def worth focusing some time on, second sesh today and it felt more natural to steer (when windy) and pumping my legs while keeping upper body less active to get up. Use a big foil your first time. Make it easy on yourself. LMK how it goes!I wish you an awesome weekend!
@@mikemiller774 I don’t think that’s the only intention, but it’s def one of them. Hiding that 5 or 6 will be more challenging for sure. But yeah, lots more testing to do. This was the first successful day. Stay tuned!
to be fair and 100% transparent, I have the bridal trimmed so it rides forward and at the edge of the window, and I think that's what's making the wingtips do that. if you fly it in the "stock" setting it sits farther back in the window and is more completely filled with air, but it pulls you downwind more so it's more power to muscle upwind.
right on bud! def won't be for everyone. I'm still gonna explore it for a bit and see if it gets better. we def didn't make winging look good at first ;) I wish you an awesome day!
I agree! bad Jeremy!! it was blowing up with Teams messages and couldn't stop looking at them. for whatever it's worth, I didn't really go faster that 15mph. I live 1.5 blocks away. but I'll do better, thanks for the reminder!

LMK what you do! I wish you an awesome rest of you're weekend!
Great vid Jeremy
thanks bud! I wish you an awesome weekend!!!
Go Pro: A magnet for the lines.🤣🤣I thought so when I saw you would be doing the video. It was great to see that review.
It looks interesting I would definitely try that parawing, as soon as the price is around 200 bucks. 900 seems ridiculous to me.
yup a lot of people are saying that. and I get it. there are cheaper brands out there but the designs don't look as solid to me. I'm def paying for Greg's design, and I suppose to be an early adopter. but I doubt they will go down in price. it really is a cool design, it will be cool to see how it evolves. I wish you a good day!!
Hands free downwind surf worth the stringer f bombs- great stuff thanks OB!
I agree! so we still got some work to go to make that feel normal, and I'm not sure how easy that 5.1m will pack away, but I'll be trying it soon when I have enough wind and get upwind a ways.
That koolaid is a nope for me. Kite foiling is great the way it is already 😂
Still waiting on someone to youtube those setups. haha.
it does not steer like a real kite. the emphasis is on the angle of the wing/power, so you hold the bar vertical and messing with the angle is like pulling the bar in and out in a regular kite. so you miss the steering with the back lines as on a kite, but you can kinda steer it by moving the bar, it's just not as reactive. it's a cool design, I think people modifying trainer kites will not get the same experience. it's pretty unique IMO. not for everyone but a cool direction.
this looks like that one episode of the simpsons kiting
prolly in my top 10 favorite comments I've had on this channel. thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!
Thanks for suffering for the rest of us! I have bad shoulders so I always use a harness winging - this looks pretty stressful on the joints.
yes, I honestly kinda fear this is gonna tweak my shoulders. and I DO NOT want that so I'm hyper aware and hope to god I let go in any situation before it gets bad. I was going hard for 360 jumps and decided to stop cause it kept tweaking my shoulders by pulling them up, kinda like this thing. but in general, regular riding is probably fine. where I've already seen a little weirdness is trying upwind tacks... I think I'll get more used to it and hopefully it will feel "safer"
thanks for the comment, I wish you an awesome day!!
I have barely had light wind wing/sup session , but I feel like a wing is better . That thing just looked awkward
@@Littledrummerboy101 it’s awkward! Trying to make it look good but i can def wing with a lot more grace.
i was wondering when one would make it's way to new england waters.
hahaha yeah I ordered it the day they came out but we just haven't had a lot of wind. the anticipation was killing me! but it will be fun to play with this fall. the guys in Maui and the gorge are making them look good. I can't wait to make it look mediocre.
thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!!
Life time stringer here … welcome back .. we have been expecting you
noooooo I'm just here cause they said free chicken and beer!
Спасибо за отличное видео!👍👍👍🤙 Большой привет из России!😊
I had to use google to translate that... thank YOU for watching and leaving the comment. I wish you and your wing friends in Russia an awesome day!!
Thats definitely not for me . Good windy day here is 15kts,always paired 35kts gust -if I cant depower 100% im in the rocks haha.
hahaha yeah I guess I wouldn't recommend if your everyday conditions was that chaotic. wings def dump power easier. but I'm getting more comfortable with it... and I'll continue to take it out and test the top end. at least there is no LE to pop on rocks but lots of strings that can get caught! you can live vicariously through me :) thanks bud I wish you an awesome day!
What volume is the board your using.
@@tonyquinlan7341 75L!
Now let's see it with your DW board, surely you can get away with the 4m if you ride your 110l DW sup 🙌
I hope so! my 107L dw board will be back soon, I put a large hole in it with my knee and it's getting some much needed love.
It’s Greg Gutfeld
not sure who that is!
@@OCEANBOUND1 a very annoying Fox News guy. You’re not annoying but you look like him. 😝
@@Kimonha hah!
Need a proper test like it was intended to be used: get upwind, hide it and pump the waves
@@mikemiller774 I don’t think that’s the only intention, but it’s def one of them. Hiding that 5 or 6 will be more challenging for sure. But yeah, lots more testing to do. This was the first successful day. Stay tuned!
Is anyone else making these?
yeah Hawaii Five O has had a pocket wing for a while.
Those wingtips are rubbish. They need ram-air pressure in wingtips at least to fight the inward curve from the lines.
to be fair and 100% transparent, I have the bridal trimmed so it rides forward and at the edge of the window, and I think that's what's making the wingtips do that. if you fly it in the "stock" setting it sits farther back in the window and is more completely filled with air, but it pulls you downwind more so it's more power to muscle upwind.
Seems like the worst of both worlds and a step backwards in the quest for glide
I totally get that! it's kind of it's own thing. I'm gonna explore it for a while... we will see if it's something that's here to stay!
are you jethros dad
I am! :)
Thanks a lot for this video!
But, it's a NO to this product.
right on bud! def won't be for everyone. I'm still gonna explore it for a bit and see if it gets better. we def didn't make winging look good at first ;) I wish you an awesome day!
Holding your phone reading from it while driving is not ok!
I agree! bad Jeremy!! it was blowing up with Teams messages and couldn't stop looking at them. for whatever it's worth, I didn't really go faster that 15mph. I live 1.5 blocks away. but I'll do better, thanks for the reminder!
You make it look easy man lol
lol thanks! it's not the hardest thing but def difficult. great seeing you at the beach the other day, I hope to get a Flite lesson from you soon!
