    I think you nailed it with your conclusion: smaller parawing, bigger foil, less para to manage, more glide. I tested the bottom end the other day: 1.8m in 23kts 45min trying to get on foil!. There always more pain to be found lol. Thanks for sharing

      oh boy I'd need like 30 for the 1.8m. I'm pretty sure I could have used that out there yesterday. and what'd I put up? 5.1m I dunno what I was thinking, but the whole time I was thinkig about that 2.9 that I left at the start! lol. thanks bud, I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend!!

      awwww thanks bud! foot is healed, back to 100%. bummer that v2s are coming so quick cause I def cannot afford a 3rd but progression is great. but yeah, they are their own thing, not for everyone, but I keep seeing glimpses of possibilities. I want to get there. I've seen people use the well and I think if I just get over the hill I'm on I think it's gonna be gold.

    The twist in the lines at the bar occur because the middle lines have been rotated 360 around the bar. And you untangled them after a rotation.

    I’m new to the wind sports. But it seems like you kinda wanna go with a potentially small parawing considering you’re on a huge board and a big foil like a 880.
    I’m sure the 5.1 would be great if you’re on a midlength and a HA680.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would def go small PW and large board and foil. The 880 was kinda a novelty, For here on out I’d do the opposite. I should have been on the 2.9 and my 1180. The whole point is to kinda ride bumps downwind and having the ease of getting you and the extra pump/glide makes it much more enjoyable. That said, if you could rip on the PW in conditions where you could use the 680, that’d be pretty rad. It’s been a while since I’ve ridden the ML and the PW, I gotta try that again.
      Thanks bud, I wish you an awesome weekend!

    Awh my last session for the season had wild gusts too 40kn+ could hardly hold onto my wing. I was just hovering on foil it so difficult to even move forward sometimes in heavy wind. Those para wings look wild. Don't think its for me but neat to see it in use.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      dude! I just realized I totally missed your comment. sorry bud, my B!
      I do love riding in crazy conditions, and this was relatively controlled in flatwater so I can't complain, but being out on the open water in +40kn is intense no matter where you were. I hope you weren't holding a 5m :P
      as for the para... the jury is still out. I'm so much better at winging and I really don't mind dragging the wing bI'm starting to believe that a 5.1m is too big for using it for what it's intended. a 4m would be more ideal for stowing, smaller the better. hindsight is 20/20. thanks as always for the comment bud, sorry to leave ya hanging. I wish you an awesome weekend!

    In their proper operating range the P-wings fly beautifully and the stow'n go method of down winding is super fun. But if you're overpowered or underpowered you're in for BIG struggles. I'm definitely appreciating that the learning curve isn't the easiest, but I keep getting tastes of "wow, this is amazing" when riding down wind with almost nothing in the hands. If you've happily been through the crushing windsurfing learning curve, then the P-wing will be fine for you, LOL. Super curious to see how the competitors improve on the P-wing.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      right on bud! yeah I see potential for sure, at least at points I get these glimpses of clarity and that makes me want to stick with it. I can't wait to take it out in prime conditions, I haven't been able to line it up since I got one. I just have to get OK with the fact I need to sacrifice the awesome wing days to learn and get better at this. I still love winging though, so I hope I get some better tastes of para-amazingness soon. I rode a 5.1m on a run yesterday and I should have been on a 2.9m and got worked. I can't wait to not get worked! lol. hope to see you out there. I wish you an awesome day!!

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      dude! that'd be sick. as I'm getting better, the 4m would make more sense to have in my quiver, hindsight is 20/20. I can't afford another at this point, I need a new dw board cause mine is like 2 pounds heavier than when I got it. it's hard to know if Greg thinks what I do/say is cool or not. I won't get my hopes up, but it'd be amazing.
      thanks bud, I wish you an awesome day!

  • @chrispewkreme
    @chrispewkreme หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I know a 2.9 is too small for me. The 4 is probably a struggle. The 5 is probably ideal but I’ll be overpowered I’m sure.
    I typically only see 12-15 knots with gusts of 17-18 maybe 20-23 knots.

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  หลายเดือนก่อน

      With a dw board and a huge foil, you should be able to do less. If you can make the 4 work, that’s what I’d recommend but I get it. The 5 will get you out in less for sure. It’s just a little much when you have power. The wind windows on these are kinda smaller

    Class bro, how is it t-shirt weather there still .Great vid thanks for sharing. If it was such a challenge to get up wind then I have to reconsider how effective the para wing would be in a offshore dw situation. The creased areas in wing may be that the canapy bridal line may have a twist or be short in that area looks like row c to me I would be checking lengths or for twists in that area . I have seen it before when I re brideled kites back in the day of course its a bit of a guessing on my part .
    Hope you and fam are well.
    Loved this one brightened my day up 😊 Good winds mate

      we are super lucky lately with a warm spell but it's back to being chilly today, no idea how much warm will be left. we just did a dw with the para, and it was an interesting experience. lots of stuff learned. and someone mentioned in the comments what seems to be the reason why the back lines twist and the others do not. looking forward to the next send!!
      all is well here bro, lets keep trying to catch up cause last one wasn't enough! I hope all is good over there, talk soon! and I wish you an awesome rest of your week!

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jorgeroman6723 depends! def not for everyone. do you have the conditions to use them? it's different, and some people are going to like them cause it's different and they just gravitate to that sort of excitement. others will like it cause they have decent downwinding terrain around and it'd going to change that. but a lot of people aren't gonna get it or like it. so I'd say if your area is good for it, it's worth a try! certainly good to be challenged again, but that does come with frustrations. I'm riding the wave where it takes me :P

    I thought about the thing with the fingers when the parawing snaps to force so quickly, seems a bit tricky to me... I imagine you are just training to THAN do downwinders.. because otherwise .. isnt it sad to "loose" nice winging days to the parawing? Have a nice weekend

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      lol my bud and I did a downwinder with parawings yesterday, and we were just saying the same thing. we are giving up really good wing days for... a crazy frustrating sesh where we get totally beat up?!? it's hard to justify this. a different friend just had a session that it "clicked" so I'm still curious enough to keep going. sacrificial session better appease the dw gods!
      as always, I wish you an awesome day bud!

    Just curious what gear you would have selected to wing there that day?

    • @OCEANBOUND1
      @OCEANBOUND1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      sup bud! THAT day, I would have done the 2.9m and my bigger 1180 foil. I'm going to only just the 1180 from here on out unless it's super light wind. the 880 was great but in order to stow and whatnot I wanted more glide and pump and the 880 was just a lot to have to focus on in the midst of everything else going on.
      thanks, I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend!!
