      Robocop, Platoon and Batman the caped crusader. Living in the UK you either had a C64 or a specy (spectrum) as a kid. There was nothing worse than loading a game and it crashing just before it was finished.

      Madlittlepixel Cool video. The C64 was my first computer. After you’ve checked out some of the built in games, I’d recommend looking at Bruce Lee, IK+, Turrican, The Great Giana Sisters, Mercenary, The Last Ninja, Dan Dare, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Kikstart II, Action Biker, Myth, The Sentinel and Laser Squad.

      Colin Lawlor I remember reading a article in a UK magazine about the Giana Sisters. Always looked interesting. Have to peep that one out for sure!

    Loved the original, in fact I still have an original C64 and C128 with about 700 tapes and disks

    So cool you got one! I'm very curious about this.

      So far its really fun. I enjoyed the Nintendo Classic systems, but already owning most of those carts caused me to not really play them much. Since I have no experience with the C64 this is like a new system launch feeling for me. Not sure if that makes sense, but im really excited playing this thing, like being a kid again haha!

    My first computer was a Commodore VIC20, the C64’s younger sibling. Seeing this really takes me back. Would love to get one of these when they make it stateside.

  • @Scopie33
    @Scopie33 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep, one button gaming was the norm for 80s computers so almost all games used the up for jump method.

    Games to add. Jumpman, Test Drive, Star Wars arcade, Double Dragon, Buck Rogers, Blue Max, Pitstop, Triad, Shamus, Racing Destruction Set, any old skool classic arcade game, like Centipede, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong etc.. Fort Apocalypse, Choplifter. And many more. The C64 was my first computer and pretty much game system. I still have mine today. These are games I loved playing and still do.

    I loved Impossible Mission, Pitfall, Gateway to Apshai, Crossbow, Knight Games, and Qbert for the C64. It was actually my first "console" (I know, I know).

    You should add Slicks by Codemasters, a cool little top down F1 game(my all time favourite). Wizball and Flimbo's Quest are cool games too.

    Well at least the load times on this are a hell of a lot faster then on the original Commodore 64. My buddy had one and he had the cassette drive and that thing took for ever to load games. This thing is very cool. It would be cool if they made a slightly bigger version with a working keyboard too. Oh and if you can add games to it you should try playing Friday the 13th for it.

    • @meetoo594
      @meetoo594 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I gather, they have a full size one with working keyboard coming sometime in the future. You can always plug a usb keyboard into this little thing though.

      Garage Gamer we used to joke that the Vic 20 was named so because that's how many minutes it took to load a game ;D

    • @garagegamer6484

    U gotta checkout Monty Mole!!! As kids we played the hell outta that. The music was real funky too. Awesome concept for a game. Also Wizzball was awesome too which you'd have to add.

    I care! My bro and I grew up with C64. Went through having tape drives then disk drives. Really paved the way for having computers in general. We actually started with an Intellevision. This is in Australia too but yehso much fun and tons of games. I hope they hack it cause it'd be cool to have some other games on it. Cheers MLP!!!!

    Keep nearly importing one like you did but the fact that the Euro version is proving not compatible with many North American displays, I guess I'll have to be patient and wait for the official US release :( Been excited about this thing since it was covered in the RETROSPECTIVE column in Old School Gamer Magazine. Soon hopefully!

    The Great Giana Sisters is a rip-off of Super Mario Bros, so you should give a try. Can you try that joystick on a PC and RPi to see if it works?

    • @brave4ever462
      @brave4ever462 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well actually the Great Giana Sisters were there before mario, but nintendo got it banned to push their mario forward.

    • @kaisersoymilk6912
      @kaisersoymilk6912 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bas van Driel I sincerely doubt your time line, while the developer of Great Giana Sisters was very talented (he later wrote the masterpieces Turrican and Turrican II, and the technically impressive Rendering Ranger R2), if you just look at the first level you can see how it's a blatant rip off of Super Mario (by the way, didn't you notice some similarities starting from the very name of the game? "Super Mario Brothers" "Great Giana Sisters" LOL).

  • @welkflingers

    Most of the games it comes with are fodder, I downloaded all the good games (150) games +, and I use the retrobit controller because the one that comes with it isn’t good for playing most games.

    Lol that load time is nothing compared to the original system :b
    I had one back in the 80’s and it was cassette tape! Took an age to load games with all kinds of crazy sounds coming from the cassette deck while loading 😁

    • @Madlittlepixel
      @Madlittlepixel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol i believe it! This wasn't bad, but just seemed a little unexpected at first that there would be loads times, but its cool. I am really digging this device!
