The screen and keyboard aspect seems interesting, but the bridge boards seem unnecessary, since you could achieve the same effect with a few cheap cables, without needing to remove your Pi from its case. They would've been better served including those cables, instead of designing a whole new pair of boards. Plus with cables, you could tuck the pi around back, as opposed to having it awkwardly sticking out the side of the unit.
well...I think its pretty cool. I bet it would be a nice experience for DeX users. I prefer windows but this is cool for hooking up different devices to it and getting that laptop experience. I bet many people will like it. Just not for me.
I think if I let my brain see it as a wireless keyboard with monitor it would be most useful to me - I can see using it for a server type computer that needs testing or something like that- like trying to get an intel nuc up and running - its cool, not sure if that is worth $130 of convenience. Thanks for cool videos like this
I see this being somewhat useful for that person who wants a laptop form factor but they want a desktop performance. It may not be perfect but it gives them the feeling of using a laptop Niche use case but i think it could be useful for that niche
This looks really cool, though I share your apprehension about keeping my PCBs exposed. I would sacrifice some sleekness for maybe a nice detachable compartment under the keyboard.
I swear you promoted something similar a while back on Amazon. Not trusting a kickstarter. That is take the money and run especially if it's a foreign company.
Seriously - I did a Kickstarter video for a girl and her project got funded and she blew it- she ended up getting a tedx talk and threw everyone under the bus while taking zero responsibility for herself- she basically stole 50k from people, and 150k from angel investors and of course she is being called stunning and brave for being a female engineer with zero people calling her out for being a crook. It's really hard to sit by and watch, she's a lovely girl but she's totally playing the game to work for her.
Connect this to my phone and I'll be pretty impressed, Bluetooth for the keyboard and a USB seed for the video. All of a sudden I have a laptop. Kind of cool because of the keyboard also acts as a stand which is usually the issues with these monitors
This is good for on the go, if im out and about and need access to a laptop environment, and hook up my phone to it. And the price isn't too bad.. Good idea! There was someone who made something similar before, but was more expensive. How is the keyboard MLP?
It's priced a bit high but it does seem handy. Portable monitors have come down in price but they often don't have a very good stand, so the way this has the clamshell design to protect the screen and the laptop hinge to keep it upright easily (with some fine angle adjustment possible as well) is kind of nice even if you ignore the keyboard and trackpad. I like the idea more than the implementation. I would rather have a nicer keyboard for one. Why not make it a bit thicker and have a mechanical keyboard in there? Still, I hope the kickstarter does well just so more things like this exist. Some sort of mounting options would be nice. Imagine if the back of the screen had VESA mounting holes and you could screw in something to hold your device securely in place when you plug it in. Another reason to let it be a bit thicker.
i am desperately waiting for an 80s looking keyboard with mechanical keys which can house a raspi, a small mb even if it's amiga sized keyboard, or even a shelled laptop MB. definitely don't want a trackpad !! hopefully a kickstarter will come along for it : )

Just started watching...this looks cool for us Samsung phone owners with Dex
4:50 uff they really didn't want to stick the hdmi/usb ports on the back to hide it a bit? well...umm...

probably only worth using with a New Samsung device for Samsung Dex mode.
Yea. Or maybe a steam deck
I always wanted one of these for my PS3 back in the day.
love the concept. but elecrow needs to come back when you can drop in a cm4 or cm5 internally. id buy one day 1
the biggest use case i find for this is for testing server machines quickly. this is not a good product otherwise.

As a Mac Mini user this would come in really handy when traveling. If the keyboard & trackpad are bluetooth i’m kinda sold.
How so? It's less portable with stuff hanging on sides.
@@oasisbeyond not portable in the sense of using it on a plane or something, more so going to other destinations like a hotel or friends house.

extension cables would probably make for a more comfortable experience.
can’t this be done using only a usb c cable
Yes

How is the keyboard MLP?
Hmm... I could see this being useful for a digital movie player.
Not really sure what makes this unique when other lapdocks already exist like the nexdock and uperfect

Could've sworn I saw this before.
Hmm I would almost be looking for a mini usb fan to blow on the PI.
Also a mini fire proof pad for the PI to sit on. I heard those get really hot.
I would like to see this with Samsung Dex.
NGL, It does seem like a pretty neat little gadget, but I'm not sure I'd have much use for it.
Can I mirror my Apple Vision Pro to this?
The trackpads are usually ass on these things.
Wonder if this is the same company selling the crows milk nutritional drink called Crowtein?
That's pretty cool!
Should try with Asus rog ally

C64 Maxi? Can't remember if its a mechanical keyboard though. I haven't seen the videos on it in a while. But I want that one day.
Chromebook with extra steps?
Oh, I thought you'd put it inside the case, not hanging out ready to get snapped off. Haha, this thing sucks
Id prefer a portable monitor instead
so its a cheaper model compared to the nexdock lapdock ?
So you can't buy it?
Maybe for $50? Especially seeing how cheap the components are for it.
This seems very useful for hackers
Hmm I’d rather have a legit laptop. That’s what I use for emulation gaming
All these kind devices cheapen up on the mousepad
A empty laptop 💻.. 🤔 should be great if could be inside with the pie
Exactly!!
Thanks.
Most Excellent!!
I like my music and games lo0ud AF! Hence ...crank it all the way up to...."Both watts" rms power!. Cool video. ty MLP!
Well, this is a stupid product.
A solution in search of a problem... What the hell is this nonsense?
ehh.... no
Strange product.
Werd!
first post
The speakers arent the greatest...
Well they literally put them on the bottom like theyre grips...
