I don't know if this holds true, but I was always told that you should have at least port width between the box and aero port. So a 6" port should be 6" from the wall of the box to maximize air flow.
Maybe but my buddy who designed the box has an 8” aero port and it’s only about 3” off the back and he meters 160+ He’s designs dozens of large builds and says while that holds true for a slot port it doesn’t for an aero port. SUGGESTION 4 A VIDEO: How to add a new baffle onto an existing box without dismantling anything! WHY?: For those who have stripped all of their subs screw holes, for those who need more box flexing support, for those needing deeper baffles for longer sub mounting screws, for those switching from square subs to round subs or vice versa, for those wanting to change the look of the front of their box/enclosure, and so on. I know I'm needing to do this because T-Nuts chewed up my MDF and so I'd like to add a 1/2" piece of PVC/ABS and install Threaded Inserts into the new baffle while sandwhiching the threaded inserts in between the old and new baffles. But you could use a 3/4" or 1" new baffle made out of quality wood and teach us how to effectively attach the new baffle to the old baffle while painting it to match your vehicle's interior or something interesting/helpful like that.
Hey parker i just subscribed to your channel and what did it for me is when you went and got the emf sub. I wanted you to see what one off them could do when my son got his bandhammer and a 5 cu.ft. box you can honestly feel the bass shaking deep bass notes on the second floor of my house. And you got one hell yeah.
Can’t wait to get my system fixed up some more. Got two T2 15s in a sealed box at the moment. Likely temporary but they sound super clean lol. Really gotta figure out a way to fit a ported enclosure but unfortunately I’m limited at 30 wide and 28deep lol. Nice video bass brother. I was curious to what type of music you was going to play and you picked some good bass track there. I Shazamed it and it was called trap or die haha which just selling drugs isn't the only way but hey they got the bass on point in that song. I just fitted a 12" 1500rms sub which I'm just breaking in got about 3 hours medium played out of the 30hrs manual recommended, in a sealed box smaller than yours and I'm wondering if I should put a port in for more decibels but lest crisp bass notes. I learnt you got a extra dB with the foil tape that was interesting. Might try that. I can't wait till my amp and sub more ready. I think I need another 12 but you got just one and it seems loud so hmm
Just subbed to your channel. You did a nice job on this box. When I'm building a custom box there's a couple of things I do differently, it takes a little longer but it's worth it in the end for a perfect box. After I get all of the boards cut I fully assemble the box with just screws first to make sure all measurements were precise. That way if there was a mistake somewhere it's not a nightmare to disassemble it because of glue/caulk. The other thing I do is when cutting the vent or port holes I use a router. It looks much cleaner and certain ports install much tighter because of the curvature. Something a little extra to do is use a router to go down about 1/8" to recess the sub in a little.
What spacing for the screws is it every 2&1/2 inches apart? Great job on your box and design looks and sounds awesome. Way better than my first box. Mine was plywood jigsaw nails I think it was 3/8 plywood glue some carpet on throw speakers in go cruise the beach I had no idea how much sub box has changed. In 30 years
@@johnclemens525 I believe you're replying to the wrong person. This isn't my video. But for my boxes I do 3 inches apart on the screws to not use as many. I use epoxy to build the box once finalized and then caulk all the seams. You don't need as many screws that way.
@@johnclemens525 nope, no tape needed at all the way I build them. You'd never be able to break one of these boxes open and they leak zero air. I use JB-Weld WoodWeld wood epoxy. It alone completely seals it but I go ahead and caulk everything anyway just because. Lol

Parker awesome that you are building your first box! I have a concern that you should consider Your port is 6" you have to have at least 6 inches clearance from the back of the port to the wall inside of your box.
The throat of the port is not six inches in diameter , I think, but you are correct about spacing. As long as he is four inches from the back he is fine.
What’s up with a metal foil tape like for ductwork I heard that you can gain like a DB and a half by installing that on the inside of the enclosure does that really work it seems like to me or just bounce off of it sound like a cheap ass Flowmaster Muffler with the sound just bouncing around in there

Next time cut the hole on the inner baffle the mounting size and the outer baffle the size of the outside of the basket, it comes out as a nice flush look
@@ParkerTheBasshead I think someone said it already but ur too close to the wall. U need more clearance between the wall and the port, if the port is 6" than u need 6" from the wall.a corner brace would or been ok. I would of just cut around it anyway.

As fyi , the screws are to only hold things while the glue sets. If you have clamps or use Brad nails or Staples then you don't have to worry about routering wood screws when you round off your edges. Also filling screw holes gets real boring 😴
@@FATHERSOFBASS the wood glue is what 90% or so of the holding force. Try it with just screws and see what happens, I didn't buy it myself till I tried myself. It's nuts how strong plain ole wood glue is on mdf.
I can go about 18” tall though so I guess in theory it could work with a slot port across the bottom. 🤷♂️ stupid crv 😂
that box is hitting the lows like no tomorrow, nice build.
It it paired with the BDC4 was perfect!
I really like the 2 trash cans instead of saw hoarses, i never thought of doing it that way. I kinda like em better. Also my cat would love the box without a sub! lol
Awesome build 👍 wow the sky high aeroporort 6” is double the price now 🤦♂️
Just subbed to your channel.
@@89ludeawakening1 sorry about the mix up there do use hvac tape? Shits expensive. But if it works I'll put it in there
@@johnclemens525 nope, no tape needed at all the way I build them. You'd never be able to break one of these boxes open and they leak zero air. I use JB-Weld WoodWeld wood epoxy. It alone completely seals it but I go ahead and caulk everything anyway just because. Lol
Looks good parker
You sure are good at chopping wood 😉
Nice look like somebody got louder👍👍👍👍💪💯
Rightttt
@@________GHOST________ and you know this from??????
@@________GHOST________ how do you know what we build??? Realdude rec, he builds all his own shit and so do i... Anyways i just dont get what or how ypu know what this fool got if it got louder or not by thinking the box looks too nice... Realdude rec, was being nice lile giving a compliment... And whats wrong with that
Do you happen to remember the size of this box all sides! Love the box!
They actually sound better than a slot port?
I suppose tuned properly either will sound good but aero ports are supposed to be more efficient
Like watching your videos menn keep up the good work nice box 👌🏻
Box looks good
Nice to see that for a smaller system you have good electrical. And i mean no offense by calling your build "smaller"
I see alot of single sub setups not hit their potential due to poor electrical.
No offense taken!!
That box looks and sounds absolutely awesome! Just wondering, why would you want to make the tuning frequency higher? Ive had a terrible experience with a prefab enclosure that was tuned too high and don't know why anyone would want to tune it high.
I don’t really want to but is an option. For example some subs just don’t perform well at 32 hz. Also, if I was going for purely SPL tuning it higher would probably help
@@ParkerTheBasshead For sure. Thanks for the reply
Wow bro. You're growing at great rate! Double subscribers in a year! How are you playing songs? Aren't you getting copyright claims? My next built will have aero port as I want to save space and dead weight
Body fill fix those spots skim coat body filler and sand fine grit sand paper and bit bed liner she be awesome nice set up tho !! Bet it sounds awesome
Nice build
Thanks man!
And as long as your happy and your satisfied brother dont worry bout negative fools out there with there dumb ass opinions dog...
It’s TH-cam I’m used to all the negatively. Don’t let it get me down tho
@@ParkerTheBasshead thats awsome i never get any shit talkers on mine but i do get th7mbs down lol and they bother me... Lol i need anger management hahaha💩💩
By the way can i get you to sub to my ch brother???
What do you think is the loudest sub skar evl 12, American bass XFL 12 or Rockville Destroyer 12? I have about 2.5-3 net cubic ft and 1500 rms. Thanks and love your videos!
On 1500rms I’d go with the American Bass or the Skar. Either will take that power no problem and i both should sound about the same. However if you want to go really low the American Bass has a lower Fs
Smaller drill bit then screw not bigger to pre drill.. u didnt showhow to place the wood together.. sides go on top of bottom or on the side of bottom piece ?
They sell counter sinking drill bits lol
I like the port, just never understood why they are that color Id make mine black or white or pink lol nice build
Hahahaha I was thinking the same thing
Was that box 2.7 cu ft of Internal or external space ?? Thanx , keep up the awesome work Parker
Parker awesome that you are building your first box! I have a concern that you should consider
Your port is 6" you have to have at least 6 inches clearance from the back of the port to the wall inside of your box.
The throat of the port is not six inches in diameter , I think, but you are correct about spacing. As long as he is four inches from the back he is fine.
@@robsorgdrager8477 I think it is a 6 inch aero.
Yea I just checked skyhigh the smallest they sell is 6 inch
@@billystorms24 well then he is gonna need more space between the box and port. You were right I apologise for doubting 😉😁
Shot out great video and box build and coming up big dog.
What’s up with a metal foil tape like for ductwork I heard that you can gain like a DB and a half by installing that on the inside of the enclosure does that really work it seems like to me or just bounce off of it sound like a cheap ass Flowmaster Muffler with the sound just bouncing around in there
Great vid parker ✊
Appreciate it!
Who is the guy you got the specs for the box i want to build one also.
Please make slot vs ported video of same volume same sub same song same wattage. Let's find which is the best.
Nice box for your first build and look forward to the NVX test! You mentioned that your box peaked around 35Hz..does it peak any louder, say, in the 50's perhaps?
He said it could be tuned to more if he needed it too. But let's hold off on this question till we hear what the other subs sound like.
@@odibryant92 fair enough..bring on the other subs :)
It could peak louder if I adjusted the port
Men I need one box for my NVX 15 tunnet 32 herz
Sounds great nice and deep
Nice man can't wait to see the vid on just that audiopipe bdc4
It will be as soon as I get it edited
I see this dude getting a sundown 15
At least a U series
To expensive for him lol
Dope man! How does this compare to the prefab box with the port extended?
It is definitely louder and in my opinion sounds cleaner. Also tuned lower so 👌🏻
@@ParkerTheBasshead awesome man! Solid first box too! Def. A major upgrade then when I first watched your vids man! (Ignite amp, JL 12) workin on up like us bass heads do man. Keep up the awesome work!
NVX for the win... have a 10in with a 35hz box. Neighbors love me🤣
I'm not a box designer but shouldn't the distance between the wall and port be equal to the port diameter
Hey could you educate me as to why you have sound deadend the inside of a ported sub box? I heard some people say you loose DB when doing this
MDF? I thought it was plywood you should use?
Yo Parker do you know another store I can buy aero ports from? I have been struggling to find some
Get an audio pipe p or q series 👀👀👀 would really love too see how they play
Yes the audiopipe q series to compare with the bd4 on sq and spl.
When adding a window to a custom subwoofer enclosure can you use regular house window glass pane to make a window on a subwoofer enclosure instead of plexiglass
I don’t know why you couldn’t. But it would be a lot heavier than plexiglas
Don't think that's a good idea reg glass or plexi..no the vids old I just had to put my2cents in
A 1x4 and a cpl clamps will help u cut almost perfect lines for next box build
Really good idea man thanks!
Just make sure the 1x4 is true and straight, they can warp and bow on ya.
Test the SPL with the port OUTSIDE of the box.
How did you figure out your port length for the Aero port ? The ones I’ve used online seem to give me some ridiculous numbers ... I got a 6” port for 2 18s the box is 13cuft .. says port length should only be 1.3” long ... makes no sense at all to me
Next time cut the hole on the inner baffle the mounting size and the outer baffle the size of the outside of the basket, it comes out as a nice flush look
that will be awsome to see
Good job. What r the measurement for this box??
U need more bracing u think. How come u didn't brace all the corners?
Wouldn’t fit with the port
@@ParkerTheBasshead
I think someone said it already but ur too close to the wall. U need more clearance between the wall and the port, if the port is 6" than u need 6" from the wall.a corner brace would or been ok. I would of just cut around it anyway.
So what you're saying is the closer the Port is to the Opposite wall of the inside the enclosure the deeper the base you will get can anybody answer this for me please I'd really appreciate it thank you???????
As fyi , the screws are to only hold things while the glue sets. If you have clamps or use Brad nails or Staples then you don't have to worry about routering wood screws when you round off your edges. Also filling screw holes gets real boring 😴
Really... Nails will hold a box together eyyy???... Huh never knew that i thought the flex and vibrations would separate the wood asap
@@FATHERSOFBASS the wood glue is what 90% or so of the holding force. Don't believe me, glue two chunks of mdf at a 90° , screw them together, let the glue cure for 24 hours , remove the screws and with just your hands pull them apart😏 cleanly .
Try it with just screws and see what happens, I didn't buy it myself till I tried myself. It's nuts how strong plain ole wood glue is on mdf. The more surface area you have the stronger it locks together. the bonded joint if done right is to be stronger than the parent wood. 🤔
@@robsorgdrager8477 oh no i believe you ive just never heard of it at least not for spl im a interior exterior remodler we use wood glue everyday and nail guns all day i know its strong just never knew for slp it would hold for long
@@FATHERSOFBASS for one ported enclosure on a single sub under 1500 watts I'd say should hold but it would fail eventually. For the higher pressure stuff id say skip the screws and go to bolts. For a daily box I use brads or Staples and tite Bond wood glue. I build a lot of naked boxes and I like clean wood. If I can I refuse to use screws in the baffle board and specially if I'm using a exotic wood facing . But one screw every six inches is more than enough to add clamping load, but if the glue gives, a screw in mdf won't last long either😂
@@robsorgdrager8477 lol ok got chahhh...my boy had someone build him a box for 3 15s 2k each was gonna run a 7k on it but never used it its sitting in a garage waiting but i thought really??? I dont think thats gonna hold
can i ask something what is the size of the box in inches With - height- lenght?
and watts of your speaker? Thanks
Use a drill to screw in the screws. It's adjustable so you cant over tighten your screw.
Hi I got 2 Sundown audio sa 10 classic with a aeroport enclosure tune to 44hz. Do I need to retune my amp to the enclosure
Lol, once you've jumped on the custom box train it is hard to ever look back at any prefabs... Did ya try that skar destroyer in this box yet?
kevin auman Rockville makes nothing that will destroy skar
No I sold the Rockville Destroyer. I didn’t want to but have too many subs and need to keep the capital flowing to invest into more gear
@@ParkerTheBasshead Sad to hear you sold it was hoping you can show how durable it either is or isnt and how it sounds in different boxes like the rest of the subs. It's almost like you are doing a 12 inch subwoofer challenge over multiple videos.
Does that skar play well I just orderd one for my 2zvx15s
Wow you’re beautiful 😊
Other than changes to box volume would it matter whether the port was internal or external?
No not other than it changing the box volume
@@ParkerTheBasshead Thanks. Love the new box and your reviews. Sub'd
In that same box if you make it an external port it would raise the box volume, which also raise the tuning frequency by a couple hz if that. On top of that the port area would be lower pr cubit foot.
Hey Parker I always watch your videos I learned a lot from you especially when you do American Bass I had the American base XR then I seen a video of yours and I went with the American bass XFL dual 2 ran a 2000 sundown amp at 1 ohms and boy it sounds really great but then I seen your video with the box you made I've been trying to find a box like this I just don't have the tools to build it myself I went through a lot I recently got off dialysis so I can't use a lot of tools I also have arthritis in both hands I try my best to cut wood but LOL it comes out crooked I was just wondering would you be able to send me the specs of that box with the big 6-in Port I believe that you have aarow port I think I'm saying that right it sound amazing with the American bass XFL how much would you charge someone to build that box or if you can just send me the link the size and height this is my car I wonder if it will fit in back of my car it's a 2002 Dodge neon RT I got it when it was all stock and this is how it looks now thanks Parker for all your videos I look forward to more stay up bro you are really cool guy

What does the hvac tape do?
Love the channel bro good shit

Amazing build, I'm working on my subwoofer install, great tips here thanks man.
One more thing name of the last track?
So my manufacturer says I need a 10.5” diameter by 10.4” length port tube. Can I find a custom port tube somewhere to match this?
Do it sound better than the other box you previously had?
Yes!!! By a lot
Cool
Plz help me, with 32 hz tuning and aero port 6 inch and 2.7 cb enclosure, can i play 30hz songs any good almost same box as yours, i want to know if i build i will be able to play 30hz or 28 hz good? Salute
NICE
Im a novice with these aeroports and ive been noticing they hit MUCH HARDER then slotted..my question is how is it adjustable?if you slide it out how do you secure it to the box with screws..again im new to this..any help be appreciated from anyone..
The port has sections that you can take out or add to adjust the length
@@ParkerTheBasshead makes sense..thanks brother
Hey parker do you remember the measurements to that box my sub takes around that same size
