I love to do 3-day fasts. The second day, I'm a little hungry but some salt or apple cider vinegar takes care of that. By the third day, I'm SO loaded with energy, I don't know what to do with it all. And I always want to go longer because I feel great and food seems like a distant memory--it doesn't even cross my mind. (so sometimes I go for four days) But it's amazing how your body loves it! And the longer you go, the more stem cells are generated, so you get rid of all your old, malformed or damaged cells and acquire shiny, new, happy, young cells. Every organ and every function of your body benefits. And it's free! It's a miracle cure, I swear. And the medical and pharmaceutical folks do not want you to know this. I reversed my T2 diabetes and am off my blood pressure meds, also.

@@JesusLovesYouSoMuch1 You do, don't you?! People don't really believe it until they try it but there's no mistaking it. It's not subtle... lol I remember the first time I did a 3-day fast--to break the fast, I had two eggs and then didn't want to eat again for another 14 hours. It's crazy! I'm so happy for you! It makes you feel like a million bucks! :)

Started back on fasting yesterday. This is day to and I feel great. I’m mostly carnivore and very low carb. I try to stay under 30 a day. Stopped fasting for a few months, noticed my energy is not what it was. I was eating coconut chocolate cookies and keto magic cookies and have not eaten them since I’ve started fasting. I’ve tried the different keto suggested sweeteners and notice a stop in any weight loss plus digestive problems I didn’t have when not eating these sweeteners and staying close to my new way of eating for life. Anytime I include processed foods or sugar carbs and artificial sweeteners of any kind my body lets me know. God bless you and all of you out there who seriously care about a people and their health.

After 6 months of this starting in January 2020 to July 2020, when the weather warmed, my summer clothes were too big for me. I'd lost 40 lbs and I had leg cramping and learned of magnesium citrate. I'm 60 years old but my body looks much younger. I wasn't obese but I was plump. I can see my arm veins similar to when I was weight training in college! It's amazing so now I'm trying to educate myself more. Our bodies are amazing when we treat it right!

I intermittent fast everyday -- occasionally have a free for all on wknds. Its amusing when people say it's a "starvation diet" because one can not starve when one has body fat!
Many many positives with IF, not only for weightloss (maintaining) but also autophagy and overall health. All good & powerful stuff!
(My husband started IF when diagnosed with T2 diabetes. No meds ever taken. Blood sugars are now between 5-6)
Our bodies truly want to heal themselves given the right opportunities but unfortunately, too many people don't want to try.

Fascinating insights about fasting. I started intermittent fasting last January to lose weight. 60lbs lighter, it’s worked. But, it’s improved so many areas of my life including sharper mental clarity, increased capacity for absorbing information, improved intelligence, more confidence and has boosted my metabolism and willingness to exercise more. I have 10lbs to lose to reach my ideal weight, but I still plan to use IF for the rest of my life as for me it’s the magic life formula. I will use IF to increase my calories to maintain a healthy weight moving forwards once I have reached my ideal weight (9sts 10lbs) . I really recommend IF to anymore looking to have these health benefits. Best of luck everyone on your health goals 🙏🙏🙏

@@siobhancleary3018 Hi Siobhan😊. Thanks for your comment . About 40 plus years ago I got interested in Hatha yoga as at that time there was an American yogi Richard Hittleman teaching it on British TV . I had a kind of natural attraction to it . During the programme Richard would talk about yoga nutrition etc. At that time he would talk about the value of fasting . Now at that time I couldn't take that on board because when I grew up my parents and grandparents ( and their peers ) had left bed through practically 50 years of food privation . Two world wars , the genuinely Hungry 30's , and post war rationing that lasted in Britain until the 50's . On top of that was the general problem that life was hard for lots of people and putting food on the table was difficult . My goodness we ate every meal as if it was our last not least because there was still famines in many parts of the world . So the idea that not eating would be beneficial was absolutely counterintuitive and almost an insult to the hungry . Obviously we knew that there was a history of fasting in our own religion , but that was regarded as a privation , a penance , rather than something beneficial . So I think I read that article about POW's in a yoga magazine about that time and I mentally noted but didn't take it on board. Richard also mentioned at that time that it would be beneficial to reduce eating on one or two days a week , and do a longer fast a couple of times a year . My goodness how I wished I had followed that advice then , but that was a time when the idea of missing one meal would have seemed radical . The only time we fasted in those days was when we lost our appetite due to illness or when the cupboard was bare ( and therefore hunger was associated with misery and deprivation ) . Sorry this is a long answer to a short comment , but I thought you might be interested in the background story . All best wishes to you 😊.

I had my thyroid looked at a couple of years ago while in nursing school. Obviously stress eating played a large part in my weight gain, I used to keep food at my bedside. I love fasting so much and I have noticed considerably how much my goiter has gone down. My body feels a lot better as well as I have lost a couple pounds. I can’t wait to see how much more I can lose from changing my lifestyle.

After many years of not watching my weight and not thinking about what I was eating, the inevitable happened. I ballooned up to 320 pounds and had years of type two diabetes that was out of control. It all caught up with me when a sore on my foot became a two year journey where I ended up having a below amputation due to damage caused by my diabetes. During that two year period in the hospital, I had numerous life-threatening infections which easily could’ve ended my life. I was told that the likelihood of me walking again with a prosthetic was not good. Towards the end of my last stay in the hospital I went a month without eating because of illness while I was in there. Ironically this jump started my new lifestyle of eating. With the help of my faith, family, and the desire to live, I ate one meal a day for the next two years. I usually eight within a 5 PM to 6 PM window and were mindful of my carb intake to less than 40 a day. Today I’m thankful to say that I’ve lost 165 pounds, have completely been healed of my diabetes, and my overall health and mental acuity, are far better than they were 30 years ago. I am never hungry and I do not feel like I’m depriving myself of food. The doctors are amazed, but I know that it was IF that was the absolute key to getting my life in order. This can work for you too, no matter where you’re starting from. Do yourself a favor, do your loved ones a favor, and give this a try and I promise you that you will be shocked by how good you feel and by the change in how you look, how you feel, and how you interact with people. And that walking thing, I regularly hike, bike, kayak, and participate in activities with my large family like I never have been able to before. I’m thankful for what I went through because I wouldn’t be here today unless I had, I only wish I would’ve had the sense to listen to reason before those decisions were made for me. I wish you the best in your journey to health.

I did all that with a vengeance and was never even near lean EXCEPT the couple periods in my life I was so stressed I would go for hours without food. I may have been healthy when eating as everyone said to but never lean, despite insane amounts of exercise, and it hurt. Jason Fung, you are a godsend!

I went on a diet of fasting 4 years ago i was 207 only 5 ft gt dwn to 124 kept it off for 4 years. Its a very good rule of thumb at least 4-6 hrs and more if you cn it wont kill you i assure you. Think about this! For every pound you are overweight your body has to produce a thousand blood vessels in order to accommodate blood flow. That takes a toll on your heart and all other organs. Im very active now only because im not carrying all that weight. I balance between low carb and low fat dont measure calories. You would be amazed how much more you can eat by counting carbs.
