I'm so glad I found this I had gastric sleeve surgery in June of 2019 losing 80 lb before my surgery and 60 lb after surgery then I stalled out. Do the covid-19, my doctors offices and even my gym shut down for a long time. Even though I continue to make healthy choices, and smaller portions, nothing broke it. 2 1/2 years later I'm back in touch with my nutritionists dietitians and surgeons and back in the gym as well getting the weight to come off has been such a struggle. As embarrassed as I've always been for being overweight nothing's more embarrassing than having gastric surgery and still keeping it on!
@F.S.2023 It's actually going very good. 🙂. I'm lucky because every surgery I've had in my life, I came out healing well. But this one was the hardest on my mental, that much I have to say. It's a big adjustment but with time and determination, it's good.
@@KaimaVixen I only two meals a day in the morning it's usually oatmeal and in the afternoon it's either a piece of pizza no cheese I just don't like cheese or a turkey sandwich or I'm really never hungry so some days I just don't eat
Honeymoon phase? Its being hell, dreaming of pizza and beer or wine! 6 days post op and liquid diet and in intense cravings! You kidding me? I wish I could fall asleep until I could eat a piece of bread with tomato, lettuce, mayo and chicken or tuna! Just a bit! Or go out for a few beers with people.
My doctor also rocks and we have a plan that at 3 months post op to start me on Phentermine to help me through sticking with it and keep exercising. My philosophy is I want to get it all off, I need some help, I have a team to help me now, so let's work hard together to maximize the benefits of the tool and meet the goals.
@@a.sydney5036 I love your question. Im one year post op. Prior to surgery I was scared I'd want to eat but couldnt. So I decided to have therapy first. Best. Decision. Ever. :)
Is there any information not being able to at least get close to your calorie goal? Often I eat about 1200 calories and struggle to eat more in the day to get to that point,. ; like full or getting sick of eatnig.
Just so you know, there's no need to eat low-carb or low-fat, keep the calories at how much you burn and you won't gain. There is no need for most folks to eat 1200 calories unless you are a small woman. This fact does not change for those who have had surgery.
I stop losing weight when I eat more than say 10g of carbs for the day. I eat mostly meat or eggs. Occasional salad. 2 to 4 oz in volume is as much as I can eat in a meal. Protein is most important. If you don't get enough protein, you will lose a bit of hair at about 6mo to 1 year post op.
I lose weight with carbs just as long as the calories are correct, even after surgery. Your meals are also tiny, how far are you from surgery? My doctor ordered portions are 150-200g per meal, something like 5.3 - 7oz. If I ate 2-4oz as a man, I would wither away and die. To maintain a healthy weight of 85kg (187lbs) at 6'1 height, I need to eat 2700 - 3000 calories.
I have been using my food journal now for 2 years now, I have lost 150lbs now, I write down everything I eat and drink,
Awesome :)
I'm pre-op and I know protein is a priority but I never thought of approaching the macros the way it's explained here. Thank you so much!
Best decision of my life
Awesome
