The AllGrip system applies brakes to the spinning wheel and by that transferring torque to the stationary wheel. In my opinion the Suzuki electronic LSD is way from good enough. When other brands with similar systems only needs a fraction of a turn to apply brakes to the spinning wheel Suzuki needs 4-5 full turns. By the time the Suzuki computer understands to apply brakes the car is at a stand still. In order to get the best out of the AllGrip system you need 3000-4000 rpm’s in mud and 2000-3000 rpm’s on rocks to get the best out of the AllGrip. This is way too fast for me, so I got a better option. I have diff-lockers front and rear as they are far better than any electronic LSD.
Small Off Road vehicles are quite suitable for Overlanding. I can’t get a Jimny in the US. But the 1st Generation Vitara/Geo Tracker is doable. I just installed a bed and a kitchen in one of mine. Love your vid😎
Nice review! It took me a year to upgrade the shock absorbers and it completely transformed the car. I stuck with standard ride height. The wobbly handling has been fixed and it feels far more sophisticated handling wise especially on the freeway. If you have fitted the roof rack, upgrading the suspension is a must to reduce the effect of the higher center of gravity.
some insight, having Owned a JB74W since 2019, i have replaced fuel tank with a Long Ranger TR87 80 litre tank giving a range of abt 1000km, btw Suzuki do have a OEM reverse camera...
Hi Mike, This is not possible with most vehicle manufacturers. The trick is to only fit accessories that are backed by a substantial warranty on the product and more importantly, a product that has been expertly engineered and tested globally to ensure that the product does not compromise the vehicle in any way.
I have a question for you experts in the 4x4 sector! (and I would like to know if you can tell me if it is true that the ironman nitro gas shock absorbers go well with the original set-up and can be adapted with the +5? I have a Suzuki jimny 4x4 with m13a 1.3 l petrol engine with shock absorbers and standard settings, yesterday afternoon I picked up the new ironman nitro gas shock absorbers and the 4x4 spare parts dealer in Florence told me that these ironman nitro gas shock absorbers are ok for 4x4 off-road vehicles with stock trim or in a second you could put the springs higher and it becomes a +5 high trim is that true? Greetings from Florence Italy!)
Andre Pieterse from Benoni - just using my wifes email - I also am interested in the jimny as a offroader, Mic may I asked why you choose a manual and not a auto ?
Hi Andre, The auto is only a 4 speed and my experience is that at highway speeds, it drops down a fair bit in speed up a hill before gearing down to 3rd. With the 5 speed manual, you can manually shift down to 4th when required. It's not that serious. Also, the manual was available right away for us with the Auto needing a bit of a wait. If most of your driving is around town, my preference would always be a modern Auto.
@chikbum3566 I think it was showcased in South Africa. I've found at least one video online with some South Africans driving it around, talking about it. Edit: th-cam.com/video/WeazaHxF3lA/w-d-xo.html 2nd edit: I heard at least one Australian reviewer talking about it being released there in future, too.
This is honestly one of the best Jimny reviews I’ve ever watched. Simple and straight to the point!
Thank you for this review. So informative and honest!
So excited to see more of this, this format rocks!
Looking very forward to this series
Thanks for stepping up to serve the Jimny market.

Downhill assist is best used in Low Range 1st gear, if at all.
Well done, Great honest review for SAF. Glad someone is sharing reality. Love our Jimny here in Australia with a LEKKER number plate.
Thanks, great project to follow!
Excited to see how this car turns out - subscribed

The door pockets are best used as trash bins.
Nice evaluation Mic, the capacity/weight specs are going to make for some interesting choices...

What make and spec of shock absorber did you use for the upgrade? Thanks.
Bilstein without the coil springs.@@stephenw7298

Bilstein, just the shocks and not the kit with the springs.

Hi Peter. No reverse camera on SA models. 😢
What about towing an overland trailer??
Is the mahindra pikup a good overland vehicle?
In the tray in front of the gear lever I have my pepper spray. 🤪
Hi Mic, will it be possible to overcome the warranty exclusions associated with the suspension/drive train mods?

Is Jimny driving goes up to 200000km milestone?

There's a 5-door version now.
Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the 5 door variant is only for indian market.!!

We have the 5 door here in Australia now. Picking one up for daughter’s first car. Comes with 9 inch touchscreen and reverse camera too!!
@@filmntvguy1977 Awesome!
Yep, but you have to spend a lot of $$$$ to modify it :)
I can answer the question for you quick and easy: “Its not good for overlandind” buy it as a toy (if you can afford to) and you will be happy
Watch out for future episodes on our Jimny. Perhaps you’ll change your mind. 😜
