Thanks for posting this video. I'm planning to buy an Ariens Deluxe 28 as well for my long gravel driveway here in western Canada. I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but the holes drilled on either side of the front housing are there for optional "drift cutters" that you can buy or manufacture. This might make it easier to take down that big 3' drift and the tough stuff at the end of your driveway as they help to slice the snow and drop it down in front of the machine instead of it hitting the engine housing. You'll probably want to keep an eye out for any chipping of the paint due to the inevitable gravel going through as it's a spot for rust to start. I intend to buy a small can of orange paint for touchups at the end of each winter as I want this to be my first and only snow blower. Peace man, thanks again for the videos.

Just picked up a new Ariens 28" Deluxe several weeks ago when they were forecasting 10+ inches to fall. My Toro 524 needs driveline work and it's 35 years old, so decided to go with the Ariens. Expensive yes, but does the job. We got 15 inches of heavy snow with ice on top and it just ate it up. Went through the plow snowbank too. I like it. Started on first pull everytime so far. Can't beat that.

After watching this I just purchased one 😆 🤣. I seen someone selling one on Facebook so I went to TH-cam to see how it performs. I watch this video and I said I WANT IT. So I went yesterday to pick it up literally the same day of watching the video lol. Thank you for making this video and what an amazing machine this is... Thanks for watching Michael, and the great message. Wishing you all the best and plenty of snow to play in..!

That first pass is always the toughest when you have to deal with deep drifts, after that it's all gravy. I usually rotate the drift cutters into the up position when attacking drifts but they are not 100% necessary. My machine is a 13 year old Ariens LE1332 (13 HP @ 32 inch wide) that served me for 13 years here in western New York. Performed a lot of maintenance on it this summer (belts, scraper blade, skid shoes, miscellaneous greasing and lube, paint touch up etc) and it's ready to go for another decade. This is a good time to check your machine out and do any maintenance required before the snow flies. Thanks for the video, it was fun to watch.

Great video. Your Ariens did a wonderful job on that deep snow. By the crunch of the snow in your video, it must have been quite cold. During the summer I purchased a new snow blower. Before making the purchase, I researched every video I could find and read tons of reviews. I had my mind set on a Ariens Pro model but so many were complaining about the auto steer in adverse conditions I decided to go with a machine with trigger steer. I have lots of uneven ground to snow blow, so I was concerned about the auto steer causing me more work than needed. I am 68 and in good shape for my age, but this will be the last snow blower I plan on buying. I have a 1980 Toro 824 and it's still going strong. I wanted a bigger more powerful snow blower with some type of power assist steering and hand warmers. After all my research I ended up purchasing a Toro Power Max HD 1232 with trigger steering. This will be my first winter using it. I just hope it holds up as well as the 824. If my health holds up, twenty years should be plenty long enough. Another reason for choosing the Toro, I have a very reputable dealer near me that sells Toro, Honda, Cub Cadet and Troy Bilt snow blowers. Looked closely at the Hondas, just to costly and for the extra money, I didn't feel for my needs, it was worth the extra money. Excellent video really enjoyed you putting that Ariens to work. If Ariens would have offered trigger steer in the pro models, I would have bought one. Have a safe and enjoyable winter.

First allow me to say thank you for watching, and really appreciate the feedback. I can’t blame you a bit on the Toro purchase, great machines. Had a neighbor that swore by them, wouldn’t own anything else. He had all Toro lawn equipment too. Lol, don’t recall the temperature that particular day, but it was cold. Thanks again for watching wish you and yours all the best for many years to come..

While it is great to show your snowblower eating up a drift twice as tall as the intake, that ultimately puts more stress on your machine than necessary. The smarter thing to do is to start a path through the snow up to the height of the intake then back out and use a shovel to knock the bank down to a more managable height for the snowblower. This works even better with a second person.

I used my Toro Max 828 today for the first time. I was worried about the auto steer being twitchy but it wasn't to bad. Once a person is used to the auto steer it shouldn't be an issue. The snow was about 7" of wet heavy snow and the machine went through it with no problem. It even took the full 28" cut at the end of the driveway. The only negative comment I have is the Chinese engine they use now seems noisier than the B&S engine on my old machine. I had a Toro 826 last year at the end of the season and I took it back it was to light and kept riding over compacted snow and the auto steer was miserable. The 828 it a lot heavier and it was fine

Did you find the auto-steer twitchy on compacted snow or uneven ground ? I had a Toro with Auto-steer that I took back today because every time it hit compacted snow or uneven ground the auto-steer would think you were trying to turn. I had to make constant corrections. It was very uncomfortable to use. I wore me out.
