    I know I did and said primed it 10x times ... Only prime the machine 3x it should fire right up .

      I used to prime it 10 times and flooded it (same machine). 3-5 pumps is the max now.

    This is the most thorough as far as getting it running and in addition to showing how this Beast performs in some serious depth and I like the way you demonstrated for those that are novices and snow blowing how you would tackle very deep snow like at the end of the driveway I myself am not a novice in snow blowing but it was good that you showed that for those that are. I lived in a condo for 28 years with my wife we now have a house so now the snow is up to me and his babies a beast and I plan on purchasing it. I grew up as a teenager that would be 1976 that was when we had big time snow now we're having the same thing many years later but the snow blower that I grew up with was an Ariens seven horsepower one stage with the second wheel that you locked in for two stage it jumped through snow like you were doing it earned me a lot of money.

    You have the drive speed way to fast for that amount of snow.

    My old, 15 year old, Craftsman 24" still works great. Twice during summer, I run it up and down my 250' driveway to keep every thing working smoothly. Good for belts, tires and engine. I pulled the wheels when new to lube the Shafter no problems in future . Also added grease to gearbox this year. Unless the slush , wet snow is over 3" all blows out chute really good. I do my neighbors and the street in front of mailboxes. Old like me but not stopping fir anything! Always better to take a cruise then a trip.

    That's a nice small sized snowblower. I have a 31-year-old Canadian Atlas 28" model with a 318 cc engine that is a real workhorse. It weighs right at 300 pounds and can toss me around like a rag doll when it hits a frozen berm. It's fun to launch snow 50 ft out into the trees. It's built like farm implement.

    I bought one about 6 years ago one of the best machines you can buy for the money I had a 5hp Craftsman 24 inch that I bought in the mid 90s It was also a good machine that I gave to my son but as for sheet metal gauge the Craftsman was light as for the Ariens it's heavy gauge and just an all around solid machine

    I have a 2014 Compact 24", looks brand new, it's older & has a smaller displacement at 208cc, but it trucks through everything, mark my words, you cannot go wrong with an Ariens.💯

    • @Void_777
      @Void_777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's surging because the choke is fully opened, set it halfway & see if it stops, even with a freshly cleaned carb mine would surge while fully opened, half choke seems fix that, let me know how it goes for you, if not it's definitely a dirty carb.

    • @Red4banger
      @Red4banger 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Void_777If your engine is surging, have to run the choke half on, you've got a boogered up carburetor.
      Your machine should run without the choke being half on, with the choke being half on, put the engine under heavy load, removing heavy snow, it won't run right.
      Before you store it, turn the gas off, using the gas off knob. Let the machine running until it's quit running, it'll run the gas out of the carburetor.
      Now you're ready to store it for the summer.
      If you have to turn your choke half on to keep the engine from surging, you have a dirty carburetor!

    Just bought one, still on the pallet in the truck lol. Did a lot of research and that combined with the unavailability of a lot of machines this year I had the same thought as you, the 24 inch with 14 inch auger is better than a wider cut with most machines having 12 inch augers, plus steel everything as well as a better gearbox sold me. If I had seen your video beforehand, I wouldn't have looked at some of the other machines. Looking forward to using it.

    I just got one yesterday, Ariens 24inch model 920029. Same thing happened to my 21 inch craftsman which I had for over 20 years, the gears starting crunching and would only turn the auger very slowly. Repairs would have cost over 400 dollars, so for 1,000 decided to get a new one. Used it only a bit yesterday, waiting for next big storm. Watched your original video and this follow-up, I think I made the right decision. Great job. Thank you

    Nice review follow-up (I watched the 1st video too.) I just bought the same model Ariens, this will be my 3rd sno-blower in 16 years, and altho the other 2 are still going strong, I wanted a new toy. I live up in the Rockies (+10,000 feet) where we can get over 200" of snow over a winter--- I think my choice in selecting the Ariens was good--- but you know what ? we have had no snow-blower worthy snow yet this winter ! So so far I have had to content myself doing a few dry runs on bare ground to get the feel of the machine. It feels kind'a strange to be actually looking forward to a good storm to test it out....lol

    Consider drift cutters, much nicer than having to use a shovel to beat down higher banks of snow or have to run over it again as it piled down behind the auger housing.

    I have the same, 10 years old now. Only issues I have had are the light went out, easy replacement. And the tension spring shattered. They have a new oem spring I easily replaced that myself. Next up I will replace the 3 belts and gear box oil, regrease maybe. Regular oil is annual of course. Throws snow well enough. You do have to take your time to not overload it.

    Sounds like your idle jets are plugging up. Thats why it surges when not under load. This is likely because you’re not running ethanol free fuel. The ethanol reacts with the metals in the carb and gunks up the jets. See if you can find ethanol free fuel or use the treatment to avoid the issue. Btw I love the 24” deluxe. Great motor to width balance. It’ll cut through anything.

    *Dont read outloud to your wife*
    Winnipeg bought one after first snowfall earlier this season. 12.5 she's a beast. Alkalate fuel is worth the purchase if it sits. If I was to change anything on my purchase it would be tracks. Great machine either way. Taking everyone's money. She was on the truck through minus 35(excludinng windchill) for a few hours highway speed for three hours, 3 primes one pull. Fuel line closed for the trip of course. You'll thank yourself lads. She gets it done. I'd rather have a 24 than a 28. wink More torque
    It likes deep snow. It performs best in deep snow. She's hungry.
    GET IT LADS. It's as strong as the operator.

    Unless you had drained the carb bowl the priming should have worked regardless of whether the gas was turned on. This as priming basically pressurizes the carb bowl and forces gas up into the carb. If the gas was off, after about the third or forth priming there wasn't enough gas in the bowl to pressurize and send more fuel to the carb. If the gas was on you risked flooding it if you primed too many times.

    Nice machine...eats lots of snow - . I own 2003 Ariens -- take care of it and it will take care of you --- suggest in the future you not let go of the pull cord like shown here --- hold onto it until it retracts fully -- can cause damage. Secondly - If you have not removed the wheels and put anti-seize on axles you may want to do that so over time they do not "rust weld" onto axle and be nightmare to get off - lastly -- if you have not added SeaFoam to gas you may want to do that --

    Your blower seems to be catching on the ground alot when I watch. So either your driveway or area isn't perfectly level and if it's tar or cement if you have metal skid shoes on you need to swap them out to composite. Also if it's it's flat needs to be adjusted to 1/8" up using quarters under the catch blade. If it's rough terrain needs to be about a 1/4" to avoid the machine from catching on the ground. I have a perfectly level cement driveway with composite shoes and I can go quite fast with no catching and clear the ground so there is nothing left but cement basically.

    I've watched a few of your videos and I saw your Ariens video months ago from last year and I watched this one. Unless I missed it, where about do you live? My guess is the East where lots of snow hit? I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and still waiting for snow so I can use my Ariens Compact snowblower. The storms hitting the East have missed Milwaukee and no more than a dusting of snow for December, which is below the average December snowfall.
    I enjoyed watching you play with your Ariens. It is rare Milwaukee gets as much snow as your area, but at times we get 8 to 10 inches snow storms at times.
    Thanks,

      +Eragon that sounds like a different problem. too much full, I mean _way_ too much, could hydrolock a motor. that would cause physical damage. but damage from "warping" is typically heat related, which would suggest a lean condition, not a rich one.

    I have an Ariens 24 and are pretty happy with it. I have a question. This model allows you to pull the drive pin out of one wheel making the blower a one wheel drive. When would you choose a one wheel drive VS a two wheel drive machine. PS. Try to use gas with no ethanol and run all the gas out of the carburetor or at least run some stabil through the unit. These motors a prone to gum up over summer storage. These are not the old bulletproof Tecumseh engines built in the USA.

    • @KyleHallwoodworker
      @KyleHallwoodworker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @mrmullin7
      @mrmullin7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pulling the pin on one wheel makes it easier to steer on dry pavement. My Toro 824 has the same setup. I never do one wheel drive because it turns plenty easily with a little snow to slide on or a little weight to one side. If you’re not using it commercially, it’s worth the money to run them on the tru-fuel type stuff. It’s expensive but if you’re not using the machine every week, it’s worth it.

      I noticed the same in deep snow. 1st isn't deep enough. I take incremental bites or feather the drive lever like a clutch sometimes. Probably not the best for wear on the drive wheel rubber but better than cooking the engine from overloading. A wear part is more affordable than an engine.
