    I just bought a 2019 Ariens Deluxe 28 snowblower from a gentleman who was afraid of it. He only used 3 times it's in mint condition. Great video. I am looking for one that shows the gearbox maintenance. I have a MTD that's 27 years old in excellent condition and it's a bear trying to turn it like you said. Thanks again for your kindness and sharing this how-to video. I truly appreciated it.

      Thank you for watching and the kind comment. I don’t think this gear box in the front where the augers are is serviceable. Back in the day they had 90weight gear oil. There was a plug in the side case to check. This one did not have one and they have gone to a greased packed gear case. Basically non serviceable. Just make sure you are using the correct shear bolts and if the shear bolts do there job and shear when needed. The transmission will be good!

      @JohnsonsSmallEngines My bad I ment the transmission gear box, I know my MTD transmission inside and out. I'm very meticulously. I'm a retired nuclear machinist and also a watchmaker, I have the patience of Jobe. The augers gear box it not something I would mess with either. I feel if you keep your fluid filled like the manual says, you should have no issues. My MTD snowblower looks and runs like it did when I bought it new. Thanks again for your kindness. I truly appreciate all the helpful information you share with all of us.

    Thank goodness I don't have a snow problem. If it snows here, is it mostly gone in a few days. Great video though. I am glad you can help people with their problems.

      Hi Steven, how long is your grass cutting season? Just curious, since you do not get much snow.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines From late march or early April. Until late sept. It depends on how much rain we get, and early frost. Most times in Sept. we get hot weather most of the month. I have mowed my lawn in Oct. a couple of times. Once we had a warm spell in Dec. And I mowed my lawn and leaves then. I live in S.E. Mo. So like most places if you don't like the weather wait a min. LOL

    Great video!
    Do you happen to know where I could find the fuel shut off knob mine fell off and I can’t shut the fuel off or turn it on

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You need to go to the engine manufacturer to find the knob. The model and serial is stamped under the starter on the block.

    Nice video, have you seen any issues with that engine? Thanks for the video.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So far, from what I have seen, all is good. The down side is fuel going bad inside the carburetors but that is not the engines fault. Thank you for watching and commenting:)

    Hi Brad, Could I change my 2015 carb bowl for this one as I see they improved the drain design. My blower is a beast that's used only when we get a bid snowfall. Thanks for another good video.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No idea if that would work or not. The parts are normally specific to each model of engine. You would need to order one and see if it fit.

    Nice vid; do you ever have issues with the impellers on that unit?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Snow throwers only have issues with impellers when the machines are subject to gravel driveways and objects that are not snow. Sometimes machines are not put together tightly and I have seen auger pulleys loosen and give issues.

    Question for ya what was your first ever small engine project?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Hunter, Looks like your repairing anything with a small engine! We need young men like yourself in this field! My first small engine was a go cart, then mini bikes around 11years old. The Honda riders are very good machines. If you can find a rider with the hydrostatic transmission, they are like gold! Unfortunately there engines are getting tired unless you can find one that someone took care of.

    I wanted you to know that I have a sand lawn. Not like FL. This sand will blow if it is windy enough. Also It eats up O.E. blades. O.E. blades last about 5 mowings maybe. I buy thicker blades, which probably why my blade brake went bad faster. The aftermarket blades cost only about $10 more than O.E. they are 1/8 inches thick. O.E. blades are 1/4 inches. I still have to buy new blades every year. The sand seems to eat the back and ends of the blades. And yes I have grass to mow. LOL

    What kind of oil and what brand oil do you recommend?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My opinion, any full synthetic brand is fine. I think most snow throwers are now using 5w30. Just remember to change it every season and you should be good to go!
