I am loving your videos Callie, thank you so much for taking the time to do them. I’m due for my total hysterectomy in about a month, so your videos have really eased my mind!
I’m so glad my videos have helped you! It’s been a year and a half since my surgery and it was still, hands down, the best decision I have ever made for my health and well-being. I feel amazing. Better than I ever did before. I was so scared before I had my surgery. I put it off for a year because I was so scared, but there’s nothing to be afraid of. Recovery takes time, but once you heal up, you will be living your best life! 💕💕
I will be 2 post opt on Thursday and the surgery was not bad at all. My surgery was an outpatient procedure and on my second day I was up walking around the house. The gas in my shoulder was very uncomfortable but my heating pad was my friend. On Saturday I took a little walk around my complex and yes I’m sore but not nothing bad. Now I have noticed a change in my digestive system. I know something is going on in there.
This sounds just like my experience! You’re doing great! The bowel issues are annoying for a while, but it eventually gets better. For me, it felt like they were just getting used to being repositioned during surgery. I’m so grateful to hear you’ve had a good experience! After recovery, I think you’ll love your new life! 💕
Hi Callie. Thank you so much for your videos. I'm 36 and because I'm BRCA1, I'll be having exactly what you did, total hysterectomy soon. I'm not afraid of the surgery but if losing my womanhood and my cycle. Like you, I'm very in sync with my cycle but I enjoy my ovulation week as it gives me strong feelings of power and having a role on this earth and in my family. I worry these feelings will go and came across your channel to see if I can find any other womens' experiences with HRT. So happy to hear you're doing well on that dose. Are you still on that dose? Did you consider the bioidentical hormone therapy at all? I can see we are very similar in our trust in nature and our bodies, our abilities to research and inform ourselves. You did mention your dr want a fan of the patches and gels. Would love to see an updated video on how you are going one yr later. Also, I take my hat off to you for being so young, with children and smashing your surgery like no tomorrow. I too have young kids but not much help and I worry about what will happen.
There’s good news and bad news… I no longer feel that ovulatory “high”, but I also no longer feel the PMS “low”. One lady that I talked to before my surgery that had had a total hysterectomy said that she felt like a “zen Buddha” after her surgery. She said that she was just calm and no longer at the mercy of her fluctuating hormones. It was intriguing but there was no way for me to fully understand what she meant until I experienced it too. And I can now say the same thing… I am so zen haha I feel more rational, logical, and in control. So in a way, I feel even *more* of a sense of power in my life and with my womanhood. Because if I’m just being honest, before my surgery, once a month, I would become not so rational, logical, or in control. I had PMS every month, and even PMDD some months. There was depression, anxiety, irritability, etc. I don’t deal with that anymore. Being in control of myself and not at the mercy of fluctuating hormones has been life changing. Not to mention no longer planning my life around a week of bleeding every month. Talk about empowerment! So things will change, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. My doctor has been in practice for many, many years. He is totally and competed devoted to his work and his patients. He has seen so many thousands of women for so many different reasons. In his experience, he said that although the route that they are administered works very well, the patches and gels have a tendency to distribute estrogen very unevenly. He said that his patients with the worst hormones and symptoms are the ones on the patches and gels. He said even the implant has caused issues for some women. Every women absorbs and metabolizes estrogen differently. It is supposed to administer an even level of estrogen, but often, the levels waver significantly. And with the bio-identical hormones, they simply aren’t as effective is what he said. Sure, they seem great and natural, but women on regular estradiol tend to have the best outcomes (short term and long term),and experience fewer adverse side effects. I am actually going to do another video soon where I talk about my experience with HRT. I hope this has been helpful. Thank you for your kind words! I am so sorry that you don’t have sufficient help after your surgery. I found that my kids could be much more compassionate and helpful than I ever gave them credit for. I hope you have a smooth surgery, a speedy recovery, and I look forward to hearing from you again with any questions you have or just to tell me how you’re feeling post surgery 😊
@@meagan9090 I struggled with anemia too. It actually took about a year after my total hysterectomy for my anemia to clear up. My biggest struggle was my ferritin, which is stored iron. It took a long time for my iron stores to increase. But since a year after my surgery, I have tested within normal range on all iron parameters. It is *so* nice not bleeding every month. I actually feel a difference in my mood and energy levels since I don’t have to constantly deal with blood loss and anemia. The surgery and recovery puts a little bit of a hold on your life. But just be patient and know that everything will be okay. It will be *so* worth it! 💕
I am so excited for you! The recovery takes time, but it is *so* forgettable. I never even think about my recovery anymore. I just think about how much better my life is and how grateful I am that I had the courage to have the surgery. My mental health is better. My physical health is better. I don’t have a period messing with plans. It’s amazing! Let me know if you have any questions. I’m here for you! 😊
How long does the surgery take I'm having it on Thursday in my OBGYN that's doing the surgery told me I will have 4 opening I am having only my ovaries the OBGYN be taking the Philippine tubes an uterus an I am 47 years old

Getting this done Monday and I’m so nervous I’m very anemic like having iron transfusions
