Dr. Cantor, I'm literally in tears while watching your video. I also watched your other video entitled "Deep Dive into Cervical Spinal Stenosis", and I have to say that both of these videos by far are the most educational presentations I have seen online and even on TV. I've searched high and low for materials such as yours because I have been diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis. You eloquently described the conditions, treatments, and surgical procedures in layman's terminology. I had cervical spinal decompression and fusion surgery almost 2 months ago in August on C5-C6 and C6-C7 and a structural support implant from C5-C7. Initially, after the surgery, much of my symptoms (tingling, needles poking at both arms, constant electrical shocks on both arms, and some of the neck pain) went away. Almost 2 months later the symptoms have returned, I would say to about 50% of what they were. The neck pain (nerve pinch) on the left side has returned back, and I would say even more prevalent than before. I can deal with the tingling sensations but the pain is so prevalent that I have to keep my head stooped constantly and adjusting and stretching to find a comfortable position-which I can never seem to find. Sleep is an illusive animal and the lack of it has eroded my morale and productivity. Your presentations have convinced me to reach out to you and your staff because I felt like there were no other options. I am looking forward to talking to you or one of your staff members. Please continue producing more informational videos. I am sure you will be touching many more lives-many of whom may be like me who are desperate to find help for their spinal conditions. KUDOS TO YOU AND YOUR STAFF!
Good luck! I am facing multi level surgery, which scares me now that i've seen the Doc's videos. The fact that you have had a return of symptoms, leaves me feeling like i will live forever in pain. You see, without any intervention yet, i already have permanent headaches, inability to rest peacefully, intermittent sleep, loss of feel and function. Fine motor skills are failing rapidly. If only my country had this technology readily available!
Me also , wish they was in my country, and this certainly is the best video by far, I also have damage to my cord, can’t sleep at night lost all quality of life, and have been let down by doctors badly 😒 especially now COVID has arrived , I’ve been pushed aside to suffer , hope you all get the treatment you need x
I have been suffering the Spinal Stenosis for over 16 years now, having undergone two laser surgeries, multiple injections and a final 5 1/2 hour long Laminectomy that literally did nothing except leave a large cavity in my back due to the butchering and removal of bone. My bone density is too negative to have allowed any fusing, and informed that any further surgeries will be worse than any possible improvement. I refuse the opioids, and stick to the synthetic Tramadol at minimal intervals for prior relief, when working. So; I am now semi pain-free with the recent installation of an Abbott Spinal Stimulator. I sure wish that this procedure would have been presented to me before my last slaughter job, and affordable or covered by my insurance. This is great news for others. When your chronic pain results in clammy, fever like puking actions, it is time for repair. The Laminectomy has basically ruined my retirement years, but am extremely grateful for the Abbott Spinal Stimulator. All surgeons should be mandated to study and practice the most beneficial procedures for every patient, not solely practice of antiquated methods. Thank God for surgeons as this one.
I had a fusion C3 - C5. My mobility is excellent. No loss of life style. Surgery was through the neck. I healed very quickly. My neck does not fall forward.
I'm due to have a similar fusion in a month :( Can you talk a more about what helped you get back on track any lifestyle adjustments what to expect etc?
@@shady2slow Well, it was 6 years ago and I am now 76 so my memory is a little rusty. I spent one night in the hospital. I wore a neck brace home and then for at least a couple of weeks after that. The reason they go through the neck is that the surgeon doesn't have to cut through so many muscles. It is less painful and you heal quicker. I couldn't drive for almost a month and I wasn't allowed to drive with the neck brace on. I was given pain medication, Norco 5 mg. 325 mg. I can't remember, but I probably only took it for the first week. I have a high tolerance for pain. I really don't remember making too many life style adjustments. I had physical therapy and learned to walk with my head held high. My son lives with me, so it was very nice to have someone available that first week. I am sorry my memory is rusty, but I must have felt pretty good after surgery because we always remember the tough times and not the easy. Good luck! Would you like me to pray for you?
@@michelemurphy7060 I very much appreciate your concern my brother. Everything went well, the first couple weeks were tough after surgery but everything is going well so far. I have a massive scar at the back of my head which is cool lol
I started at the University of Miami, I was diagnosed with several cervical stenosis, but they offered me traditional treatment, but after seeing Jeffrey's technique, I didn't get anything done anywhere else. Unfortunately dr Jeffrey is not in my insurance next world my is preferred care partners thanks you
I’m a doctor. This is an excellent and accurate presentation. Here is my unsolicited opinion. I’ve had cervical stenosis requiring surgery for worsening bilateral pain, numbness and weakness in my arms. Treatment 7yrs ago correctly used traditional surgical fusion at C5/6 with a bone transplant, carbon fibre staple and removal of bony spurs using surgery from the front of the neck. It’s been very successful with complete removal of pain and most numbness, although not all my muscular power returned (don’t leave seeing a specialist too late…). I’m at risk of needing further surgery - not yet, but possible. Further traditional surgery would be more difficult, less likely to be successful and more likely to involve damage to my spinal cord, nerves and other structures such as my oesophagus (I’m English 🤣 and it means eating tube). This ultrasonic technique solves this worry for me. If I need further surgery, I will aim to opt for ultrasonic techniques if that’s suitable in my case (it likely will be).
Thank you for giving your personal,as as well similar, facts and opinions, I wasn't aware such a tool was available or hope to see you better,it was a good while before you had the fusion 7 yrs ago I assume, how long is
@@wf5398 I feel you BUT if physicians accept payments being Medicare it can carry prison term ... Shocking but true .. general public is never told what physicians go through ... Only profession in which reimbursement has been steadily decreasing while cost of living keeps increasing ... No other business or institution works on these flawed financials... Toyota was 10K in 1990 and physician reimbursement per new consult was $250 ... Now Corolla is 40K and reimbursement is $ 118... Four fold increase in cost of car .. based on that reimbursement would be 750 to 1000 instead it's gone down like Corolla then should now be selling for 2.5 K ... How can anyone survive after years put in and heavy loans not to mention personal sacrifices
believe that was an unfair comparison. The medical system in this country is getting more and more corrupt. I am a victim of the toxicity and mold of breast implants (yet I didn’t find out why I had to retire early from my teaching career because my brain wasn’t working, and the Sjogren’s I developed ulcerated my eyes so badly, I couldn’t read (not good for a ha English teacher!). All I heard from doctors was “It’s NOT the implants! They are saline!”, when I went to the ER because I couldn’t breathe. But what came out of me 2 months later, would make you gag! I lost SO MUCH ( like family, relationships, MONEY for out of pocket treatments and counseling) and 5 years after my last surgery to explant (where I contracted pseudomonas aeriginosa, and no one would believe me although the pain was indescribable, until my incision festered.) I am still not well. Now Lyme Coinfections have manifested from my weakened immune system, and I live with having had a stroke that affected my sleep cycles, and the pain is horrible. This is what I get for believing in the medical system 20 years ago! I’m on Medicare and my teacher’s pension supplement, but I wish functional medicine, Chinese medicine, and massages were available to everyone. PS, my adult, now disabled, son, whobhad the “vaccine injury”, Covid 3 times, long Covid now, terrible cervical instability that is the root cause (key word) of his unbearable headaches he’s had for 16 months, body pain, and mast cell activation. We cntvtakevhim to a regular hospital around us becyou can say “Lyme” in a hospital… It’s like saying “bomb” in an airport! Think about this when you see a doctor. I optimistically foresee a future where the two can become integrated, but that means a complete change if lifestyle, eating, surgeries, etc. Bet if luck to you❣️🙏💫

Dr. Cantor, I’m the one who got back to you about my lumbar stenosis but decided to wait until I had 2 opinions within my HMO before sending you the X-RAY/ MRI and docs of my lumbar spine. Now I’m waiting a bit longer as I’m having fairly severe lower neck pain off and on from old school surgery. I have the titanium staircase with screws etc. in my entire cervical spine, and of course they removed the natural structure in doing so along with fusion. Due to protocol, I have to start at square one with my primary doctor on 12/19 which I’m hoping eventually leads to an updated X-ray and an MRI of my cervical. When that happens I will send all that you require to evaluate the two problems (lumbar/cervical) to see if it’s possible your Ultrasonic surgical technique is even an option for me. I already have the instructions from Ivette on sending the aforementioned material. Thanks, Steve
Thank you for showing us what is cervical stenosis. I at the moment have been diagnosed left arm pain with numbness in my fingers. Neurologist has told me that it is caused from my neck which I have been having issues for over a year and pain is progressing each day. Surgery is the option that they are suggesting but as a patient, it can be frightening. This video give me a bit of comfort to understanding what I am going through.

I am in Los Angeles, CA and hope I find a Dr. who uses this technique. Thank you for this very informative video.
I wish you will contact Dr. Jeffrey C. I have faith on him. I pray that sooner you will be alright. 2013 I had a mortal accident. 2016 First surgery in Milan Italy, the diagnosis, cervical stenosis, brachial Plexus Compression, clavicle dislocated fractured, left side the 1st rib fractured dislocated intact on clavicle fractured, on right side 3ribs fractured and last my left arm paralyzed immediately after the impact. I was desperately because the reconstructive doctor cut my Subclavian artery and nerve compressed of clavicle fractured intact on the first rib fractured. He replaced smaller size of the Neuroplastic. Biggest mistake,2nd he cut a piece of muscle on my left cervical without discussing me first. After the surgery the second day I’m very ill than before . Still I cannot walk which I am expecting that I will be alright. Neurosurgeon were not presented who will do the surgery first my cervical stenosis, then the proceed to the brachial plexus compression and the rest of the diagnosis. In general that really changed my life style in the worsen condition. I became invalid and unbearable severe chronic pain than before. I am one of the medical malpractice. 2019 I went in Manila Philippines and PHILIPPINES General Hospital I met the my new Neurosurgeon and she is Chinese. Suppose 2018 my first consult her but I didn’t make it because of my invalidity processing in Milan Italy. I was operated on my Cervical spine stenosis last February 23,2019 and the surgery was successful. Thank God I walk again and again. I have already complained my worsen condition and she understood that I am very ill because of my face. After two weeks of my recovery she will proceed to reopen the surgery done here in Milan unfortunately I need to return in Milan because of very important my present but I rescheduled , Most important is my surgeries. Till now I don’t have any unbearable severe chronic pain on my cervical FINALLY. Thank you so much God she saved my life. The biggest problem I didn’t make it the second surgeries because of the mess created my private nurse. I was so mad, very mad because the nurse that I hired she scam me , my sister and my Mom. Until I lost connection of my Chinese Surgeon. I filed a lawsuit against that nurse. My Heavenly Father, I thought that I will return in Milan 101% in good shape again and again, I will have my job and my quality of life again and again will continue. Till now I’m suffering of respiratory problem because of the Neuroplastic didn’t change, swollen all fractured dislocated and my left arm still paralyzed. My vision and hearing condition continually worsen. Despite of my worsening condition I continue praying. I never and ever give up. I pray next year January 2022 I will have my surgeries to my Chinese Surgeon. She is my hero. Thank you so much guys for reading my long message. Be strong always and pray. God is always good to us. 🙏🇮🇹💫
I'm confused by the last x-rays. #1 They're not the same individual. #2 The second image is enlarged if you look at the second cervical vertebrae you can see how much larger it is. I was hopeful in hearing this technique and I do think it's great. But someone that is educated on xray can clearly see spondylosis that is present on the anterior spine of the pre versus post is not the same. As far as the canal being larger the x-ray is enlarged. You had me following and listening but at the end there was a loss of integrity by the misleading pictures. I am a practicing chiropractor of 30 years and I always look for possibilities for the reversal of spinal stenosis. You were spot-on in your explanation but at the same time if you want professionals and peers to refer to you this does not create a trust.
I had a double level cervical fusion a couple of years ago. I was hesitant because of the loss of motion, but I was told it was the best option. My neck curve was reversed and I had bone Spurs and impinged spinal chord. I couldn’t hold my head up, just like the X-Ray shown here. I was in my late 30’s and very active. I had no choice. I can hold my head up now, but I have a lot of nerve pain and have to have nerve ablations all the time.
This is sad that you still experience pain. I'm much older and extremely active, so I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm using a laser that helps with mending, but I know my condition is advanced. Did they ever suggest any prp prior to your surgery or was your condition too advanced for this treatment?
Different indications. Not real medical advice. But your surgeon could tell you. If you had a disc herniation it's standard from front. From the back u can only get to some places. This is just a shameless infomercial.
I injured my neck on a military freefall jump back in 1988. Thirty plus years of flareups and pain went chronic in 2021. Ridiculopathy worse in left arm than right. Carpal tunnel type symptoms at night that change with positioning of my head. I do commercial HVAC for a living so 90% of my work is overhead that causes me to look up. Really hurts! My neurosurgeon said my job is certainly contributing to my premature degenerative osteoarthritis in my neck and I should avoid such activities which is impossible. Radio frequency ablation only thing that gives some relief other than opioids. I’ve got to get four more years before I can retire which seems like an impossibility most days. Is constantly aggravating my neck doing my job really doing me harm, or just causing me pain? So glad I found this video and will be watching more. This has showed up in my TH-cam Feed and I have never heard of or been diagnosed with Cervical Stenosis but I am having difficulty with my legs, walking, and standing on my feet and legs for more than 5 hours at a time .
At 11:15 mn, I don't talk about chirurgical result, but the anatomy of the cervical spine in preoperative and postoperative X ray is completely different. It's not te same patient;
I had two fusion surgeries this year 3 months apart. 35 years old. Surgeon fused 4 levels front and 4 levels the back of spine. I have really bad myelopathy from cervical stenosis and spinal compression. I’m 11 days post op and the myelopathy is still with me. I hope it goes away.
I am dealing with the same thing and facing a level five cervical decompression and fusion February 23rd 2022. My surgeon said I am not a good candidate and I am suffering paralysis from myelopathy. @@alexistwhite the surgeon said he could do surgery, but that in 90% of the cases, you heal from this one your own. Here I am around 6 months out and he's right. I went to my primary doctor this week and let them know that my neck, back and limbs are all being affected and painful. I am off balance, turn and fall sideways, no strength to climb steps, reduce use of limbs, limited walking distance as well as extreme back pain after 200 ft and feeling so restricted. I had two military injuries to my head, back, neck and limbs from falls greater than my height; the greater being 10'. I finally can't take it anymore and let them know that I really want to walk....to walk in my neighborhood and be active again. I have a bone density being scheduled and will be seeing an Ortho scheduled for this week. The limbs are painful, tinging and numbing while the back and neck is headaches all the time, extremely painful and debilitating. I have only used civilian doctors because I trust them not the VA since they left me for 10 years without a recognition of my injuries and let me get to the point of degeneration. I really pray that this week will start my life style and activity back on path to enjoy my days and help me gain a greater purpose. I will do a follow up once I know what the Ortho says.
Same here with the VA. You would Die before the VA got around to doing anything. My last MRI at the VA I was told I need 3 More Fusions, so they gave me a Back Brace. Then they said well you have Medicare, so you need to get them to do the Surgery! If your really Sick and Call do a Appointment, they will tell you that they will see you, but it will be about Six Months from now. They are also All very Rude to their Patients!!!
In 2012, was the 1st time that my right arm was like being punched all over. Was diagnosed with C-6 herniated disk. It took 4 1//2 months before this pain went away. My specialist told me to wait until the pain returned before anything was going to be done. In 2016, I started falling down. It felt like my legs could not support me. It went on that I could barely keep my head up that I didn't know when I was going to fall. I found this video very interesting. In 2019 I got a C-5, C-6 and C-7 laminectomy. Now almost 3 years later, my right hand has remained numb and my neck very sore. My incision is really sunken in. In 2010, I had an L-3 and L-4 laminectomy. That really helped me a lot. I could barely walked for 9 years and finally the specialist noticed the way that I walked. The morning that I had my operation did me so much good. I was able to walk without pain after so long. In 2000, they found out that I had Thoracic outlet Syndrome. In 2005, I had my left 1st rib removed. I felt so good. In 2006, I had my right rib removed. I could barely use my right hand. There was complication with my operation that the doctor cut into my lung. I couldn't even hold a fork in my hand. This all happened to me since I was 42 yrs old with a very repetitive job and onward. Among with a cyst on my ovary when I was 18, two C-Section at the age of 21 and 22. Tubal ligation when I was 23. Now, I'm 64 yrs old and in constant pain. I refused to take narcotics because I was on 115 mcg. of Fentanyl and went to get off in 2016. Now the only thing that I take for this pain is, marijuana pills through medical marijuana. The rest treated with Diclofenac 5%, Lidocaine 5% and Gabapentin 5%. I'm also on 800 mg. Gabapentin at night. Thank you so much for sharing your channel. It was very clear. From Ontario, Canada
My NUCCA chiropractor looked at this video and observed that the example x-rays of before and after at minute 11:17 are actually of two different people. Their altas are different. Today we both looked at the "before and after" X-ray example, and he showed me the differences in bone structure between the two images, and I could see how these were not of the same individual. This is troubling. What is your response?
Thank you for such a clear explanation! Question: presumably any bone you shave off will grow back. How long typically until the patient needs to return to have this done again? Also, I presume this technique could be done on thoracic and lumbar spine also? Thank you.

I also have severe spinal stenosis from a wreck I was in years ago. I have been to several spinal surgeons in Tyler , Texas. They all just want to go in and shave the spurs off because they are pressing on my nerves so painfully. At 11:05 you show Before and After, and draw a "very narrow" vs "very wide" spinal canal. But: 1) The images are not the same scale. 2) The spinal canal doesn't seem to be where you drew it. 3) Are spinal processes removed on the right? Is this what you need to do for posterior access? 4) The normal lordosis is straigtened forward after surgery. Please comment.
We do not live in the USA, my brother was told that he has Cervical Stenosis and that it is advancing, he was told by 2 surgeons to have a triple corpectomy and that it will impact some of his movements. He is only 38 years are is rather worried about such a potentially life alterning proecdure, however on the other hand he feels that he is having persistent symptoms of the stenosis so he doesn't think he can put it off for much longer and watching this video is really what we were hoping would happend, that with the advancment of technology he can have it taken care of with minimal damage. We would really appreciate if you can advise us if this technique is being used in Israel and if so by whom?
I have a relative that had a neck operation and he’s been paralyzed since. Think twice. Not saying it’s common, just that it’s something to be aware of.
My neck and spine have stenosis from an accident 40 years ago . I got thrown into the windshield of my car from a truck who was not paying attention. I was always very active and slowly I have gotten worse. Based on what I was told what the surgery would entail I declined surgery and now I am glad I did. Just wondering if Medicare covers thiis surgery?
Very interesting, especially as I have areas of mild to severe foraminal stenosis and the thought of the traditional surgical treatments are frightening. I do have some facial numbness and have lately been experiencing weird shooting and other electric-like pains at times without known provocation. What happens with the particles that the ultrasonic device removes from the walls of the spinal foramen? If the procedure does not remove them, how does the body eliminate them? I also want to know if this procedure is covered by Medicare. Thank you!
So Dr. You are telling us how much we should care about how our cervical stenosis is treated? Yet you don’t care enough to accept Medicare or out of pocket? Do I understand this correctly? My lumbar and cervical stenosis is so severe, I was told I will most likely die from it. I was in a severe MVA in 1990. I was on my way to work at the hospital. Hit from behind, I was at a stop. The kid’s speed was estimated at 75 mph. Do you know of any other MD’s trained using the ultrasonic instrument? Any in the US, I am willing to travel any place in order to have this done so I can live longer. I became disabled in 2016 from this and lost my career in nursing which broke my heart. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this in-depth description of the condition and surgery alternatives. Very recently got my MRI results. Between C3 and C4 also between C4 and C5 severe spinal canal stenosis. Minute 11:16. These are clearly 2 different patients. Not before and after. Look at Atlas of both patients. Look at the different shapes of the vertebral bodies of both. They are different. This may be a better approach. But shower a pre and post of 2 different patients is dishonest.
I'm getting consultation in a few days, I'm glad I found this video, I'm going to ask about the Ultrasonic Technology. I'm 57 and MRI says C5 and C6 is pressed onto the cord, have bone spurs and arthritis. If I look up or bend over I lose my equilibrium, have pain at the top of my skull, mid and very bottom. My left arm or hand falls asleep. I also get fogged thinking when the pain is real bad.
Mitch M Sounds very very familiar. As a small test, try a few diet experiments: try a fast for a few days, also try various food changes such as no carbs or sugars for 4 days, one meal a day for 4-5 days. Higher vegetable based meals. No meat for a fews days. I noticed a difference, especially after fasting 2-3 days. Especially in brain fog. Give it a try just for a few days and see.

Since 1989, I have had C-3,-4,-5,-6,-7 removed fused and plated. One had to be re-done 2nd to CSF leak. I had a CVA on the table during one of those surgeries with resulting R side deficits. I have to sleep in a soft foam collar for any few hours of support and comfort. Subsequently, spurs and arthritis has developed. I’ve required treatment from a pain and neuro physician for >17 years. Any semblance of “normal” is challenging. There is some bladder and rare bowel incontinence as well as physical difficulties. I will be 71 next week.
This was excellent, I have the cervical stenosis and am not sure what the next steps are but if surgery is needed I am asking about this ultrasonic surgery. I play 2 sports at age 55 plus biking and fly fishing and want to keep doing so.

I just had my MRI , and the doctor said there are cyst pressing the nerve L4 and L5 causing very painful back pain and slowly travelled down to my left leg. Whatching your video gift me clear understanding on reading my MRI. Thank you doctor, you are amazing.
Nice presentation , i would have been much happier to see the MRI or CT scan of the spinal canal improvement after your surgeries instead of just simple X-Ray and obviously the L cervical X-Ray was taken in much more oblique position and falsely showed bigger spinal canal. Thanks
Great job explaining the issue, traditional methods and this newer less evasive technique. I will be contacting you and your office to see if I qualify for this procedure vs. what my current neurosurgeon is suggesting from my local area here in South Bend, IN. Thank you!
Thanks for the great video. Your explanation of the pros and cons of traditional and new techniques. I have been told that I need a cervical laminectomy, but I have major risk factors that make such an operation even riskier than normal. Does your technique have a lesser impact on risky patients? If so, how do I find a surgeon who uses this technique vs conventional laminectomy? Florida is a long way form me to travel to from Seattle.
Thank you for watching the video! I unfortunately do not have a process to find surgeons who do this specific procedure. Thank you so much for excellent teaching. I’ve been suffering for multiple years with excruciating pain involved. I can’t thank you enough for this amazing and informative video.
Thank you for this informative video. I have recently been diagnosed with severe cervical stenosis with abnormal signal as well as severe lumbar stenosis. I am still waiting for an appointment with the specialist and am doing some homework ahead of time. If surgery is indeed needed, can the ultrasonic method be used for the lumbar region as well as the cervical region? I live in Ontario, Canada near Toronto so I am sure this technique is used here.
Hassan Makke I haven’t seen the surgeon yet but I’m sure they probably use it here at some of the hospitals. I’m being referred to Toronto Western and I know they are very up to date with the latest technology
Scott Hardy Goodluck!! If you can ever update me if they have it that would be great because I could ask to be referred to there as well!! Hope everything goes well with you
Hi Scott, I woukd be very interest to learn of your findings too whether the ultrasonic technique is used elsewhere, and whether it actually solves all the problems that fusion brings. I also need this surgery as i have severe spinal compression with abnormal signal too. C4-5, C5-6, C6-7. If i can get my canal enlarged without the associated ever worsening complications of traditional surgery (kyphosis, adjacent segment degeneration, chronic pain) I would be in tears from excitement!! This seems too good to be true but I am still hopeful and looking forward to your updates!!!!
Dr. Cantor where are you located? If I had surgery at your facility how long would I have to stay there before I could travel back home? Does anyone in the Memphis, TN area do this type of surgery? Sincerely, Art Canales

Doctor Cantor, If someone has had spinal fusion in the past (that has failed & caused several additional surgeries)... could you possibly use cadaver bone/disks to replace the ones that wer cut out & fused (putting the patient back to a normal functioning spine)?
Thank you so much. I have this and its pressing against my spinal cord. I also have scoliosis, si joint dysfunction, 4 more neural foraminal issues lumbar. And facet syndrome thoracic and lumbar. Lucky me. Anyway, you are the first doctor that has given an alternative to the screws. I truly thank you.

My 28 year old daughter had a traumatic birth and was left with Central Cord syndrome and a stroke that left her with aphasia. She is so bright and yet until 4 years ago this was not revealed. I was an OT who was able to recognize from day one a problem and addressed therapy for her. Because the community was so inceptI -as her mother --was blamed for living a "wild" life in my youth. Yet without my therapy background Lord knows how far behind she would be. She had such a full life, swimming, therapeutic riding, winter tubing, dancing, music. Now at 28 her step mother placed her in a group home with wheelchair bound 50 and 60 year olds. It is HEARTBREAKING.
I had cervical surgery (2014)was done through the back of my neck three cervical vertebrae's with 3 titanium plates with two screws on each side. Surgery went okay and I am able to move my neck left to right up/down okay BUT I have been suffering with neck pain for all these years. The surgeon now wants to do fusion and I am against that. Is there still something that could be done Dr. Cantor ? Thank you for your time and I will be in contact with you soon.

I had a similar operation 7 years ago. It help but I didn't realize what was happening at first and a lot of damage was done before the operation. On my left foot I can push my toes down but they won't go up. Sometimes my toes get under my foot and I walk on them. Boy that hurts and my foot turns black and blue. I'm 83+ and just keep plugging along.
Nice job Dr Cantor. I have been in medical device sales my entire career and I think we did some work together when I was with Biolectron or Endius. The Bone Scalpel is a nice tool and very safe. It won’t eliminate a fusion in some cases but is a nice tool for decompressions and opening up the foramen.
After an MRI my ortho referred me to a spine surgeon. The consult was today. He's telling me the tingling in my fingers will get worse and I will eventually have other problems (balance, walking) if I don't get ACDF. The more information I get the more terrified I am to have any of this done. Your explanation is excellent, but how can we be assured of the skill level and knowledge of the surgeon? Right now I am not feeling comfortable having any spinal fusion surgery.

Wow This guy can explain rocket science to me and I'll understand it. Excellent explanation! If he teaches in a University I'd say the students are very to lucky to have a teacher like him!
Thank you for such an informative video. I have a question. Can this technique also help in the cases of Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). Your reply will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
I've had to live with pain for yrs that has worsened. Not one care giver has suggested this, then a MRI revealed stenosis. Now I'm old and wondering if I could even have surgery, but suffering is horrible.

My Dear Lord, Dr. Cantor, Why is this NOT on the Front Pages of Medical Journals. Your responded to my comments on another video. I suffer with Cervical , Thoracic and Lumbar sites of Stenosis. The cervical C3-C7 , T1-T2 with aerothelioethesis , T9-T10 Disc herniations, L2 & L3 disc herniations into the front and rear, L5-S1. In addition, my first cervical MRI done in 2012 revealed that I have More Narrow than Normal Spinal canal! According to a Video from the Mayo Clinic only 5% of the population has this innate condition. The cervical issues (Stenosis, Disc Bulges and moderate to severe DDD throughout my spine) with all the arthritis on the Facet Joints and the Vertebrae cause Loud Cricks and Cracking when I move my neck. I have been suffering many years as the SI and Lumbar issues Traversed up to my neck /head, with considerable Forward Head Posture (48 years of Commuting 3 hours a day will do That). IMHO, despite the terrible stiffness and on and off pains in the Lower back, down the legs, calfs, the neck Affects much More: TMJ issues, Occipital Tightness /headaches daily, Tinnitus, Dizziness , Sinusitis, pains acros he chest front, IBS /GERD [I'm very convinced it ios from the Neck], Uneven Gait, and On & of Bladder /Bowel Incontinence [Bowel is less severe, but I have difficulty to hold Bowel movements}. I have been researching my conditions for YEARS on the WEB and of course with my Ortho /Pain management doctor & 6 Spinal . Neural Surgeons that I consulted with in 2018-2019 period. All he Surgeons said No One would touch my Lumbar spine, far too much Arthritis , Maybe a canddiate for AFCD (?) for my neck if it becomes Unbearable. I never saw anything like this! Do you have an opinion about Prolotherapy ? Not easy to find a Prolotherapist neraby me in Suburbia NY?

Marvelous presentation or should I say dissertation? Very appreciative, as I move closer to a finer diagnosis than my ‘serious’ neck issue. Will be looking for that cool linear MRI machine, assuming availability somewhere nearby. From time to time I see guys walking about with their chin close to the chest or even on the chest. Only now do I realize these men seem to have a commonality of age in the upper 80’s to 90’s. Another take-away for me personally is to thoroughly research options regarding possible treatments. Physical therapy seems to be ruled out, although that has been suggested…..Many thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! 😎

5 months ago I had a spine surgeon in our town tell me that I had cervical stenosis and spondylosis and would benefit from having the bone spurs removed. Three cervical vertebra have fused naturally in the front of my neck and says he can't do anything with that because it will just grow back. Now he says there's nothing wrong and he won't do anything to help me. I think it's just because I am on Medicaid, but I can't work due to spinal stenosis and spondylosis in order to get better insurance and now I live with severe pain and motor function loss in my legs and hands.

I didn’t want a fusion. I wrestled for 20 years and Competed in 4 Olympic trials. I was so excited to start the new stage of my life competing in jujitsu at a lower skill level in my age group. But My disc disease was causing too much pain and my doctor said I needed to be fused c4-c7 levels. I wanted so desperately to keep grappling, training and growing. But my fusion makes it a horrific risk. My mobility is too limited. I don’t tell people, but I’m secretly desperately sad that I can no longer grapple. I hope you succeed in changing things.
I had a cervical laminectomy and fusion. The most PAINFUL surgery ever. It’s been 6 years since the surgery, and I am in pain every day. The scar look like that of a great white shark attack. I no longer can wear my hair up because of the grotesque scar. I HATE the surgeon who did this to me. He came highly recommended as he was department head of orthopedic spine surgery for 14 years at Boston’s New England Baptist Hospital. He is now in private practice and affiliated with Newton Wellesley Hospital. I had a great career cut short because of Dr. B. Never expected to be on disability at age 45. DO NOT get a laminectomy and fusion. And find a young surgeon who is up to date with the new technology.
Anna i am so sorry for what u r going through. I am 38 and I need 2 fusions on my neck and back together. I am bedridden from. Almost 2 years now. As u said laminactomy and fusion must be avoided then what choices do ppl Like us now??
I was told I need surgery.. I have cervical spinal stenosis with radiculopathy and myelopathy.. I have creptus as well and also balance issues .. I have cysts all over thoracic and lumbar spine .. I have DDD and bilateral scroillitis .. I have right and left arm pain heaviness and I drop things from the right arm and I have pain radiating to my left buttox and down my back of my thigh ..I have been in pain for almost a year now with no relief .. I am 59 years and will be seeing my spine surgeon tomorrow for my CT scan results and surgery next ..
Don’t get cervical surgery, Dr. Steven Murphy in freehold, NJ has helped me he’s a physical therapist, chiropractor that is different than any I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to over 10. He injured himself as a champion wrestler and couldn’t walk well at all for 2 years, his spine looked horrible, he got educated and developed his own method and he’s dramatically helped me walk better, I’ve got more to go, but I know I’ll get a full recovery now🙏🏽
I have multiple spinal problems. I was told my best course would be to live with it. I was given pain meds and could function fairly well. I still am not a candidate for surgery but thanks to the hysteria about pain meds I now barely have my pain managed to allow me to get out of bed. I never abused or sold my meds. But I am constantly worried that I will be cut back or off. Every month I don't know if I will get another refill. This is torture.

I am scheduled for surgery in two weeks. Was told any method of spur removal, causes bone regrowth at sometimes expediant rate....anytime you cut or grind, bone repairs itself by growing new bone. Hopefully I was told correctly... Informative video.
Hi Mr. Cantor I am waiting to have another MRI on my back. I have reason to believe I have Lumbar stenosis my body is bent Forward from my waist. I cannot walk without my walking aide (although this makes my arms ache, as obviously I‘m trying to push myself up to a standing position.) I have been reading your videos on my laptop. And find them very interesting. I seem to have symptoms which leads e to think I may have stenosis, probably Cervical stenosis as well as Lumb
I am interested in having this done as I have cervical stenosis for years. It’s getting worse. I would like to research the company who makes this device. Can you tell me the manufacturer of this tool please?

Dr. Cantor,
I'm literally in tears while watching your video.

Hi Mario, thank you for the wonderful feedback and for reaching out to CantorSpineCenter.com.
I have a very similar situation to yours. It’s awful living with. I hope you get some relief soon.
Thank you for watching the video!

Dr. Cantor,
I’m the one who got back to you about my lumbar stenosis but decided to wait until I had 2 opinions within my HMO before sending you the X-RAY/ MRI and docs of my lumbar spine.
Thanks,
Steve

The VA sucks!

How are you doing after 9 months? Does it costs a lot of money? The "ultrasonic technique" sounds promising but what does he say he rebuilds it with?
From Ontario, Canada
so how are you feeling after all of that…God bless you luv.
Thank you.

At 11:05 you show Before and After, and draw a "very narrow" vs "very wide" spinal canal. But:
1) The images are not the same scale.
2) The spinal canal doesn't seem to be where you drew it.
3) Are spinal processes removed on the right? Is this what you need to do for posterior access?
4) The normal lordosis is straigtened forward after surgery.

I would be interested in learning where you are located. I do have deficits in the thoracic, lumbar, and sacral areas; it seems as if my spine/discs are akin to dominoes that fail/knocked down. Any semblance of “normal” is challenging. There is some bladder and rare bowel incontinence as well as physical difficulties. I will be 71 next week.

The more information I get the more terrified I am to have any of this done. Your explanation is excellent, but how can we be assured of the skill level and knowledge of the surgeon? Right now I am not feeling comfortable having any spinal fusion surgery.

13:44 I'm sure the answer is "Call and ask" but just in case: I have severe DISH osteophytes. This Makes me ineligible for many options (ex: Disk replacement).
1-With DISH, am I eligible?
2-Can this surgery deal with the osteophytes?

I sheared C2 in a motorcycle accident, I wore a halo brace for 7 months and I have no complications.
15yrs post acdf c5-c7, I'm a candidate for this type of surgery. This would be great to get done. I would love to get feeling back to my hands and outer arms. Gotta love technology.

Bonjour avez vous des confrères en FRANCE ? qui pratique votre méthode ?

Love this guy! He explains it so simply. I can't wait to put my care in your teams hands! ❤
Thank you for the kind words!
@@DrJeffreyCantor You seem to deserve the gratitude of many. You made their lives better.
Excellent. If this technique works so well, why are the old ones still in use?
Cantor Spine Center is responsible for the development of many groundbreaking minimally-invasive “ultrasonic” techniques in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders. Many physicians still use traditional approaches.
Thank you Dr. Cantor where is your facility?
Fabulous video!
4:50 That is NOT a mid sagital cut and was chosen to embelih the appearance of 'stenosis' and you know, or should kow, that.
Is there any use in this technique for lumbar stenosis?
@8:59 Great images, but mislabeled as X-rays. Those are MR images.

Excellent wish it was possible when I had lower back fusion in 2016.
Very well presented. 👋

Disappointed that I tried to contact your office and was on hold for over 30 min 2 different times. Tried to upload MRI via the website and couldn't get it uploaded and could not get any help.
Thank you so so much for sharing your knowledge and helping us understand more of the prognosis and treatment available.People like you are trully God sent.
I need surgery but I don't think anyone takes medicaid medicare. I was told to go to Dallas is the closest place I can get to? Where should I go to?
Omg! Thank u doc. This makes so much sense now
Thank you 🙏 can this cause unbalance problem
Is this procedure covered by Medicare as an accepted intervention ie not considered to be experimental .
I am interested in having this done as I have cervical stenosis for years. It’s getting worse. I would like to research the company who makes this device. Can you tell me the manufacturer of this tool please?
