Just earned another subscriber !!
I can't believe how much room is in that engine bay with that ls. Amazing.
Makes me want to go twins all the time 😂
Oh man i want this so bad. Working Mustang 4.0l, 4.6L 2005-09 5sp are so cheap $3-8k . And blown engine was are even cheaper $1k-4k.
To piss off ford purists while having a reliable ls is pure 👌
Saw your Mustang on the road today near Deptford. It sounds AWESOME!
Aye thanks I don’t get spotted to much in that car 😂 but the exhaust gets everyone looking 👀
Also according to dyno tests on my engine... with afr heads, btr stage 2 cam, pistons for 11.5:1 CR... the truck intake made more power than the MSD and FAST intake lol which seems to be replicated on allt of TH-cam dyno vids.. hopefully my pricey learning curve saves yall money.
Excellent video sir, I was curious as to whether I can still use wipers, hvac, etc after an LS swap.
Yes u can still keep your wipers and hvac and heat if u get custom lines for ac and run hoses for heat and leave the stock Ecu and fuse box wired up u would have to change the plug on the ac compressor but that easy most are only 2 wires
I bought a cd009. That trans takes the cost up by 600. Trans is 700, adaptor was 400, slave, master, pedalset and lines brought total for trans and all to 1600. Swaps not done yet tho which is why im here lol
Just got a subscriber! What’s the wheel and tire setup on the mustang in your video? Will it handle the LS?
15x10 racestar rear 28x10.5 m/T stiff wall
17x4 racestar fronts 28x4 m/T radial
And yes they will handle more then that
Henry Ford crying somewhere in the heavens
How did you mount the gas pedal? Did you have to fab a base plate to bolt it up in the OEM location?
FWIW, the Watson Racing pedal is really too tall to be useful because if you use the intended throttle cable position at the top of the pedal arm, the cable goes right trough the position of the windshield wiper. If you use ANY of the lower holes, you don't get full throttle.
U can make a base plate I just cut the insulation on the firewall out of the way so I could self taper the pedal to firewall in same location
I heard something about those adapter plates only lining up on 2 holes. Is that how it’s supposed to be?
Yeah the one side only the two holes line up perfect but u can make the plate and mount bolt up to all if u make two new holes I just didn’t feel like it 😂
What the pro’s vs cons of getting the k member or not getting it and are you running the stock radiator and cooling system?
Pro: weight saving & more room with a tubular k member
Con: they cost 5-700$ (yes) I’ll be getting one tho for this season
And yes I’m running the stock v6 radiator with (2) 16inch e fans with a 160* T stat never gets over 170*
I'm wanting to do same swap. Could you go in to details about the drive shaft and rear end? Thanks
Custom made 3inch steel driveshaft and my rear end is a ford 8.8 with ford racing T-lok kit and 4.10 gearI can go into more detail about the suspension setup if your interested as well
I don’t know if you have emission testing but if so how would you be able to pass emissions? I’m looking in to LS swapping my car any help would be appreciated
U would have to run cats to pass emissions
Were you able to get all the factory gauges to work? I was wanting to do this swap on mine but would like the factory gauges to still work with the swap
No I didn’t its really more work then it’s worth to get the factory cluster to work I’d just get a Holley and get a digital dash setup
Can I put a 5.3 th400 in without having to beat up the trans tunnel and would it still shift properly?
Yes the th400 fit perfectly with no issues
lol, That chevy small block looks smaller than the V-6 that comes with the car. Matter in fact, even makes the car look bigger. I think I will drop the LT 1 from the 1990's. Gonna need it from the Camero with a 5 speed. I saw they had the T5 on them. And I use a T5. I don't have a automatic, just the 4.0.
There actually about the same size Ls sits lower and weight less then the v6 too
@@Zaysnipes Really? You would had expect a V-6 to weigh less. So much for that thought. Thanks for the info in the vid. it helped a lot.
do i need different swap plates, motor mounts, or k member listed in the video if the car was originally a 4.0?
U can use the stock k member with 3v motor mounts and 4.6 to Ls swap plates as the cheap option or get an aje k member with Ls motor but that’s about 600+$ alone
@Zaysnipes so ur saying just find junkyard 4.6 motor mounts then put the swap plate on that?
Yup that all u need cost less then 100$ drop and Ls right I’m on factory k member
Id be interested in comparing terminator vs fitech. They both have similar tune on the go features. I think my fitech has more features... not sure. But i would like to see them to head to head. I was waiting before i asked tho... what headers did u use? Cuz... thats where im stuck lol tired of ordering shit just to try, and finding theyre not gonna work then reselling on egay or marketplace.
A lot of guys are using the hooker header or u can get away with most turbo Ls foxbody kits aswell as I’ve seen
@@Zaysnipes I'm not going turbo. Just realized obviously urs will be different.
@captainsledge7554 oh gotcha SUM-G9084B manifolds from Summit work to get u in the direction to factory exhaust
Do you have to get terminator x or can you use ls wiring harness?
You can do it however you want. LS harness and ECM or terminator X.
He’s right mainly comes down to budget I highly recommend Holley for the long run
What exhaust manifolds are you running?
When it was n/a was stock manifolds flipped forward now it still stock manifold with v band welded on for turbo setup
Can you give me some more details on your driveshaft please? Thanks for all the info! I’ve got everything done except the driveshaft!
U will need to get a custom one made mine is 3inch steel u measure length from yoke to yoke if I’m correct mine was 47 1/2 inch long with a th400 short tail back to my 8.8 rear with ford racing 03/04 cobra pinion flange
also do stock 5.3 truck headers fit in the mustang?
Yes they do I also had mine flipped forward for my nitrous combo
@@Zaysnipes thanks
Was this car originally a v6 ? And how did you get the exhaust headers to fit
Yeah it was a v6 and the headers almost any Ls swap header will fit in these car the Ls is not much bigger then the v6 motor
Awesome thank you
With a little help from your links and local deals I'm about ready to toss her in and fire her up.
I have the fuel lines, standalone harness, sloppy best cam, valvesprings, lsxr intake, 102mm dbc throttle body, trans cooler,ls mounts, 4k stall converter, powerglide, powerglide mount, running dbc 5.3, head studs, head Gaskets, gt45 turbo, intercooler, 8.8, probably more I haven't mentioned.
Really just seeing what the local tuners want as far as Injectors, each gives a different story.
Looking to bolt everything in this weekend and make driveshaft measurements
Aye good stuff man a lot guys say Bosch 210 buy once cry once but I have Deka 80lbs rn
@@Zaysnipes one local tuner is strictly wanting FIC injectors sadly
One of the best injector 👌🏽
What about carb swap on a N/A setup?
Easy setup get a Holley super victor kit comes the msd and there harness plug and play
Can I use the stock t3650 trans from the gt ?
I don’t believe so without some type of adapter plate best to just get a t56
Is it possible to plumb the air conditioner? Thats the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger.
Yes u can make your own ac hoses or have a local shop that can cut and make some custom lines and u can retain ac same as heat and power steering
@@Zaysnipes yea it sounds doable, another guy who did the swap said he bought more ac line, chopped of the end block and tig welded on the Chevy AC line which I should be able to do.
@justin6409 definitely could do that too
are there ls to 4.0 swap plates??
I don’t know i never tired the Ls to 4.6 plates on the 4.0 mounts but definitely interested to find out
stock motor mounts on motor?
Yes with 4.6 to ls swap plates
The hardness says ls1 on link will it still work with a gen 3 5.3????
Yes it works for gen 3 5.3
Forsure man I already have motor mount in waitin for th400 this weekend ! U got a instagram or something bro?
You won’t regret it and yeah @zaysnipes on Insta 💪🏽
Would the factory transmission work? Do they make an adapter plate for it?
No factory transmission with work with this swap your options are to get a custom made bellhousing adaptor made for factory trans or get a th350/th400 powerglide t56 for this swap drop right in but u can also get a 4l60 ot 4l80 but u may need some tunnel adjustment made 🔨 for them
What is the exact engine & trans
Engine
Gen 3 block gen 4 bottom end 5.3 LS 243 heads summit stage 4 turbo cam btr .660 spring and trunnion upgrade 7.400 pushrods
Transmission
Th400 short tail sfi bell housing upgraded clutch reverse manual valve body with pro trans-brake and deep sub pan
Where’s your shop?
South jersey
@@Zaysnipes would I be able to send mine for yall to LS swap it?
My shop mainly works on maintaining vehicles not a performance and race shop
Do you have to get terminator x or can you use ls wiring harness?
U can used the stock harness and computer and get it tuned or u can get a standalone harness that is the best cheap option honestly deletes all the stuff u won’t use on the stock harness and look a lot better for a 100$ or so and can run stock computer that way aswell
@@Zaysnipesdo you have a link for that cheap hardness ? I’m tryna do this for cheap
This is the harness I used with the stock computer setup
