To be clear the goal wasn't to spend as little as possible building this car. It was to build the car I wanted to build with good parts and not going way overboard. It could have been done cheaper but cheap parts now aren't always the best in the long run

@@skankarmor1 what mechanic could You hire for the ridiculous 'low ball' figure You stated ?!
perhaps a beginner mechanic gets paid that low figure as an employee.
Look at billing charges for time at any local, private or dealer vehicle mechanic and You will have a base level to start from.
Then look at performance shop billing and mechanic wages.
Then look at private performance mechanic billing, charges to a customer for more realistic estimates.

One of the most frustrating things when I went through my first LS swap was wading through the sea of people claiming they did it for $2,000 or less. It almost always turned out that they "already had" or "got for free" most of the expensive parts and they just conveniently leave that out of the budget.

    • @Drummin003
      @Drummin003 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm glad you're being honest about the true cost of this build. I see far too many TH-camrs claiming they've built a 9 second car on a ridiculously low budget. Then you watch their videos and start doing the math in your head. It never adds up, because they don't include the little things, like hoses, belts, connectors, motor mounts, brakes, etc. You're going to have lots of fun in that car for years to come, I look forward to the great content it will provide. This is not how you “jump” into the game. As you can see. Coop is just a car builder. His experience behind the wheel is almost 0. Any novice driver shouldn’t and also doesn’t deserve to have a quality set up until after you achieve a certain level. To know how to operate a stock car to its limits. I bet cooper is not capable of operating his fleet at a high level. Do you even see him drifting his 50k drift car. He’s only been behind that wheel no more than 30mins. It’s like a spoiled rich kid picking up hobbies. Not good at them and wants the nice fancy set up, but bails on the passion down the road out of boredom

It adds up quick. Ive done 2 SN95 swaps. I managed to do 1 pretty cheap but it has a stock 5.3 with a small cam. and I already had the transmission and converter. I only paid 650 for a gt roller and it came with 3.73 gears. I upgraded the axles with the same $750 kit and bought a kmember kit with headers for $1000. Motor was 500 and I had won a free terminator x. Im guessing I have 5-6k in the car and nothing was done to the suspension. That one was my sons 1st race car. I liked it so much I built myself one. I had an 8 K budget and went way over. I had a motor but blew it up pretty quick and wound up getting a rods and piston short block built for 3 K. Im probably in that one 15 K...maybe more. Both cars look worse than chip but are solid drag cars and we've had a blast with them. Ive probably have spent 30k or more on my turbo 4th gen and it doesnt look much better. Ive been spending money racing one thing or the other for 15 years now. I figure if I had dumped all that money into the S&P 500 Id be able to retire early. Its been worth every penny though.

My view is that having safety equipment and design should be included in any vehicle build or use in any and all racing venues, even if the authorities don't require or require less.
If any factory built vehicle hits a wall at highway speeds or greater, what will occur to the vehicle and more importantly the driver and passengers ? Al The more so, for any vehicle driving above highway speeds of 80-100,-120+ MPH whether for 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 mile drag or roll, time attack, track, road, rally, racing, etc.
Isn't human life the most important; Yours and those You know ? Why not minimize the risks, where and when possible, with what exists and have the BEST available.
The professional racing organizations review their rules, especially with and for safety, often, at least yearly, and post major collisions, and such incidents.
NHRA/IHRA and others should already have improvements in the walls to absorb impact as NASCAR/CUP/Indy,F1/IMSA etc. have done and implemented, improving still for several decades. The drag racing strips are and have far behind constantly.
Also, State, US DOT standards are not sufficient either. They have more, greater restrictions within emissions than safety standards.
All The Best and Much Success in Your Quest, Health and Well Being. 😊

@Cooper Bogetti [and all that desire to know]
This additional section is included to bring clarity, proper information, knowledge, about the extent of Our massive population under Government Authority, lacking with [nearly] every known organization, group, politician, political party, media, and how We as citizens have been inDOCtrinated, directed, dictated, controlled, misled by falsehood, pretense, lies, false, incorrect, distorted, missing, lacking, misleading information, misinformation, disinformation, portrayals, narratives and propaganda. these affect affect aspect of human life, have existed for 162+ years [seemingly back to earlier to the middle 19th Century in the USA and previous in Europe, especially during the shift from Authoritarian Monarchical Government to Authoritarian Socialist Governments , which expanded worldwide and into the USA, also with Authoritarian Communist/ism Governments and with some continuing Authoritarian Monarchical Governments [Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, etc.] and some Royalty still existing, many with hidden Authority, direction, dictation, control.
      🤓
Their Authoritative Regulations are to force compliance to their standards. Their regulations, as laws, are actually not legal, valid, according to the US Constitution, since the US Congress, Legislation lack that specific authority as detailed an defined in Article I, Section 8,9 [See US Constitution] and thus left o the States, but they must also follow the US Constitution and Amendments, thus many such Regulations are unlawful via them including those which specify Individual Rights [1-9. 14, etc.]. But few have been challenged over the last 122 years since the US Congress has begun passing them, especially more so starting in 1933. Thus nearly all person alive, wer born into a time period and have been living under these illegal, invalid, unlawful, unconstitutional legislation, regulations, enforcement, thus extremely familiar, well established, inDOCtrinated by the Authoritarian Government, political system, media, public 'education'/indoctrination system, etc. By comparison, the Authoritarian Socialist and Communist have massive Government Regulations, Restrictions, Limitations, Enforcement, etc. mostly less than in the USA. The current contrived 'COVID'-'UN/WHO-Pandemic' situation is an excellent example for comparison as are the various Regulations with vehicles which exits worldwide within every country by their Authoritarian Governments.
The only recent challenges to the US Federal and State Mandates, Limitations, Restrictions, Regulations, enforcement, etc. have bee the few plaintiffs during this 'COVID' situation with all having success. These results have been mostly kept hidden from the public, purposely, not conveyed, portrayed, discussed, publicized by any political party, media, organizations, etc. no matter what their portrayed positions [Why ? 🤨]
The Federal District Court Judge for each decided, ruled for the Plaintiffs against their Governor, the Governor's executive orders, mandates, limitations, restrictions, etc.as Unconstitutional, citing the First and Fourteenth Amendments, thus invalidating rendering them null and void. Their reasoning is that the US Constitution does not specifically state thus not allow any Government [via Executive or Legislation] to infringe upon the Individual Rights of citizens within any declared state of emergency, whether 'natural' occurrence, medical, disaster, etc. Thus, no such Authority exists. The Judge's decisions were for KY [July], PA [Sept.], NY & CA [Dec.] 2020. The Plaintiffs of NY & CA were granted immediate relief against their Governors' Mandates, etc. by the US Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision, in November 2020, deferring the decision to their District Court Judge [pending results if not accordingly - which was favorable the following month]. thus The Supreme Court, in their summary of the those in favor, clearly stated their views about these Executive Orders, etc. and at least on, perhaps two others agreed with them, but not the necessity for immediate relief.🤓
Also, the California State Legislation, which bans assault rifles [sales, etc.], passed in the early 1980's [was living there then, thus remember it well] was challenged in Federal District Court. the Judge decided and ruled in favor of the Plaintiffs against the CA State, as Unconstitutional, thus null and void. That decision and ruling was in 2021.🤓
The most recent is the US Supreme Court Decision for The Plaintiffs against OSHA with their 'COVID-19' 'vaccine' Mandate, Regulations which the US President Biden announced in November 2020, then OSHA announced formally, officially, shortly afterwards. The US Supreme Court decided 6-3 for The Plaintiffs, stating the Congress legislation did not grant, give, state any authority for OSHA to establish any regulations which affect the general public, are not specific to the working environment, workplace or any specific one or group of them. Thus, since OSHA lack this Authority, the previous ruling is 'stayed' and their Mandates, Regulation for such are null and void; dated early February 2022.
[OSHA states on their site, officially, publicly, they retract their Mandates effective February 25, 2022; This is a clear violation of the Supreme Court decision, full of denial, arrogance, haughtiness, [We say 'chutspaw'], and claims of Authority they do NOT have! The decision states that OSHA has NO Authority within their legal charter from Congress, thus their Mandate is null and void. OSHA has no legal authority to make this mandate or retract nor specify any date either. In fact, actually, the Supreme Court decision affects the OSHA Mandate from its inception in November 2021 as invalid, illegal without authority. 😖

      Sincerely ☺

32k And that's not including if you race it and do the proper maintenance it's a 45k dollar machine when it's done tho!!! I love how you show it takes money to build and race a car but don't need 100k to do it!!!! Keep up the good work your doing Amazing.... Showing people you can do this without having a crew of people to help!!!!

Sloppy mechanics on you tube did a video called 8 for 8 he built a 8 second mustang for 8k and then did a break down video on how he did it. I think his goal was to go as fast as possible for the least amount of money. There really good videos and very informative.

you can make it more expensive by replacing the 1900 rotating core with a 2650 core. Harrop suoerchargers make it and in a full weight Chev ss 427ci 4L80 it ran an 8 second 1/4 mile

AS the old saying goes, “Speed costs, how fast do you want to go?” Building a reliable race car for $2000 is a pipe dream, but buying all the best parts from the best sources will get you a $32,000 old Mustang. It can definitely be done cheaper with time and used parts but if this is what you wanted then good on ya. A little pricey for my tastes for this level of car but as long as you are having fun racing it.

Speed costs, how fast can you afford to go. If you have collected parts forever and got them cheap good for you but doesn't happen for most people. Plus you need to know what are the best parts and what they're worth, then you can play the game and wait for the deals but how much time do you have.
