The Hyundai Tucson is all-new for 2016, and the new model is a dramatic improvement over the old crossover. I felt the previous Tucson was underpowered, unattractive, poorly built, and it wasn’t very great to drive. This new Tucson, however, uses the Fluidic Scultpure 2.0 design that debuted on the Gensis, and it looks great. The sharp headlights, big grille, and LED fog lamps brighten up the nose, while the 19-inch alloy wheels and silver accents add a dash of extra luxury. Around back we have interesting taillights that are very similar to the Genesis, an aerodynamic spoiler and dual squared off exhaust tips that are finished in chrome. Overall the 2016 Tucson is very handsome, and it certainly sets the visual benchmark for the compact CUV class.
But looks aren’t everything. Press play to see how this car is to live with and what it’s like to drive.

Here I was, thinking I needed some fancy, $45k crossover but the more I do my research on this Tucson, I think this is perfect and has much more value.

I bought a 2013 Tucson and I recently changed it for a 2016 Tucson Limited AWD. Love it! You're right, higher trims are expensive but it really feels like I'm sitting a a 30K $ car compared to the older Tucson. It's worth every buck!

+Bill the Butcher No, a steady 700-800 RPM idle at optimal temperature (engine). Are you living in a region high above sea level?

+Bill the Butcher yes, mine does that when I dip the clutch. apparently it's called "coasting" mine is booked in for inspection. I'm not worried though. it's a new model.they will sort it.

well if you could respond after you take it in i would like to hear what they said....on mine it seems dangerous for it to do that considering how close i have to park to my other car....it makes it hard to inch forward when it does it....thanks!!

+Bill the Butcher if your car is dangerous take it in to be looked at. don't wait for some guy on the internet to get back.

This has a better interior than the Santa Fe. I assume it's due to being a newer design. It also has better styling to my eye. And it is not too small if you don't have grown children.

Great video overall. Can I make a suggestion for you? Instead of just driving and talking perhaps you should park the car and show us the back seat, cargo area, and open the hood as well. Thanks.

+David Lundell Hey David. Thanks for the feedback. I can get to work on trying to rig up some extra cameras. These reviews are a one-man operation, so it could take me some time to figure out the best way to get everything done. I appreciate you watching!

How is the audio in the car? I have heard mixed things and having a good quality sound setup is pretty important to me. Also is there memory seating for the driver side?

You have all those options, because you pay for it.The Tucson 1.6T Ultimate AWD is same price as BMW X1. Its at same price range for luxury crossovers.

    • @AutoTalkcom

+WiseSloth ForBernieSanders The difference is the equipment list. A base level BMW X1 is almost $35,000, and it missing a lot of equipment compared to the Tucson. Just a quick list of some of things you are missing if you buy the BMW: heated and cooled front seats, real leather on the seats, heated back seats, panoramic sunroof, navigation, rear view camera, parking sensors, and a few more odds and ends. The base X1 doesn't even come with satellite radio. To equip an X1 with roughly similar equipment, you are looking at a price tag of nearly $46,000.
The BMW is better built, nicer to drive and has more horsepower, but it is hard for me to justify the $11k price gap.

+AutoTalk.com I dig your review, it strikes a good balance between day to day life with a car (Consumer reports) and the car mag guys who only care about skidpad and 0-60 times.

A loaded Tucson comes in at around 35k, to get the same bell and whistle for the X1 you are looking at over 40k, I just got a loaded Tucson for 33k, which includes everything I mean everything.

Do the math. The fuel difference vs others in the class is a rounding error, not worth choosing a vehicle over. $20/month, tops. When you realize that a vehicle in this class might cost $8,000 a year to own and operate, it really puts this whole fuel economy thing in perspective.

There's a smaller CUV category than Compact. Creta, HRV, Vitara CX3 etc are all in that smaller category

You quoted the MSRP prices for the limited. No sane customer would pay those MSRP prices. Because the MSRP price is JUST a dealer's wish list.
