I don't think that statement should be taken literally as destructive power. Destroying planets has very limited scope on what it would accomplish. The Force can influence minds, change the tide of a battle, or look into the future. These can all be more significant than destroying planets.

Nihilus was a weird case. The longer he existed, the stronger he became, and the more he consumed, the stronger he became, but likewise the longer he lived and the more he consumed, the more powerful his hunger grew too. Had he defeated the exile somehow then went on to devour the whole galaxy, he'd have become an unstoppable walking black hole. Kreia did mention that if he wasn't stopped soon, his power would grow beyond what even a wound in the force like the exile could ever hope to neutralize. All that said, his power was not in any way a strength since it was his master. Good thing Nihilus was dumber than a sack of rocks and easily manipulated, cause adding intelligence to power like that would cause a, slight, problem.

And he was being sandbagged by a weaker Vader

    • @fly672
      @fly672 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

That's a casual large building feat...
Vader himself is city level at most without any rituals or amps (btw Mustafar itself is an amp or at least that cave where Vader build his castle on).
With amps and rituals he sits around continental (destruction all around the cave during "bleeding" ritual in Dark Side cave) and maybe multi continental.
Another feat that's wanked beyond belief is Vader holding an interdimensional rift open for a few seconds.
Yes he did that but not by himself, the rift was opened by the castle (because that's it's original purpose) so it's not something he can do in a fighting scenario.
Vader saying that the power to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of The Force holds no value just like Cell saying "I have enough energy to blow up a Solar System" feats or it didn't happen.
Vader was probably referring to the influential power The Force grants, shure you can destroy a planet but a simple duel of Force Sensitives in a small room will decide the fate of the galaxy and you can't do shit about it.

antwan1357 a series following all of the events of Legends (100,000 BBY-138 ABY) in later Clone Wars style animation would make them rich. Each episode should be 45 minutes and try its best to stay true to the lore and the story. Filler is always needed when doing stuff like this but I'm open to it. I'm well aware that a series explaining this much lore would take over a dozen seasons but it'd be well worth it since fans would be fed artistic and great storytelling (92% of it) and Disney's media wallet would get fat af ! Kids will be buying all the Legends characters faster than you can produce them 😂😂😂

No... they couldn't. Your bargain basement force users, even your more bargain basement ones... really, really, REALLY couldn't stand up to Astartes who genuinely wanted them gone, rigid as the Codex Astartes is. Imperial Guardsmen, maybe, but actual Space Marines? You could make a better case that SPARTANS stand a better chance against Space Marines... and even with the upgrades in Halo 5 and the fact that Spartans canonically fight significantly more competently than jedi more consistently, they get turned into chunky salsa and quick.

Well, I mean, if you want to start playing with Space Magic, then you have to deal with a Librarian ripping open a hole into the Warp. Now the Jedi is being munched on by Daemons.
I think that most of this argument, as usual, comes from people comparing apples and oranges. Considering the admittedly absurd levels of the standard Space Marine, I will state, and stand by, the sentiment that a Knight level Jedi (Sit down Anakin, stop screwing up my generalizations) would be slaughtered by pretty much any Space Marine (Lets keep to melee combat). They are relatively evenly balanced on most theaters. Force speed and strength vs natural speed and strength. Precognition vs near precognitive reflexes. The advantages a Jedi has, and there are a few, just don't match up to the toughness of an Astartes. As has been eloquently put, if you cut a Space Marine's arm off, he isn't going to slow down. He will just pick it up and beat you to death with it.
Obviously, this comparison starts to fail as you get stronger and stronger. I wouldn't favor even the peak of a Chapter vs someone on Mace Windu, or even Obi-Wan levels. A Council Master could hand a Marine his Power Armored ass. It would be difficult, and he would have to be careful, but yeah, he could do it. But if you want to just slap down the "Force Powers" card, you have to accept that you have opened the floor to Chaos, and all the gribblies in the Warp to gnaw of your Jedi's celibate testicles.
Tl;Dr: 40k wins, because 40k is DESIGNED to be ludicrously over the top. Everything about the setting was intended to be hyperbolic and extreme. Comparing like combatants will almost always see other sci-fi come up short, because its meant to. 40k is a silly universe, for all that it proports to be grim-dark. If you dont belive me, try to imagine an Ork Waaagh!!! rampaging through Star Wars. They would get butchered. And come back. And get butchered. And come back. Until they kill the planet by being too damn stubborn to stay dead.

They could handle generic Space Marines, but it's debatable if they could fight Librarians or other psykers. Also Jedi power levels are extremely inconsistent: kind of like Superman. They're just as high as they need to be for the purpose of the story that's being told. The jedi as depicted in for example the battle of Geonosis in the prequels definitely wouldn't be able to hold off a Space Marine Chapter. They had trouble with just a bunch of cans.

The reason why Kyle Katarn didn't get his ass pwned by Jerec despite him being near to the Force Nexus in the Valley Of The Jedi, it's because Jerec isn't finishing up to absorb the Valley of the Jedi's power.

      Part 2:
In this part I'm going to look at 2 things. 1st, is the Dorsk 81 feat an outlier. 2nd, I'm going to my thoughts on your values (which btw I mostly agree with).
      1) For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, an outlier (in terms of vs battle stuff) describes feats that defy the scale or reality of a verse. An example of this is when Master Roshi destroyed the moon during the budokai tournament in DB because its confirmed Goku and Piccolo are stronger than Roshi and they are citybusters. The KE output of Dorsk is not a problem here because he has the oneness amp, 30 students amp, and the destructive capacity of his feat has been exceeded by others. The reason I'm considering this feat being an outlier is the velocity. In part 1, EvanNova95 found the average velocity of the Star Destroyers to be 7,456,450,000 mph which after a unit conversion is roughly 3333331408 m/s which is 33.3333108 x10^8 and the speed of light is about 2.998 x (10^8) m/s. That means (low-end), Dorsk 81 propelled those Star Destroyers at a velocity that is roughly 11.119 times FTL. I believe the only way to exceed the speed of light in the SW setting is to go into hyperspace. If that is the case, then this feat could be considered an outlier on the basis that the velocity of the Star Destroyers falls outside the given physics of the SW verse. Then again, if there are other instances of FTL travel that occurs outside of hyperspace, then this feat is not an outlier.
      2) I'm going to check the values that EvanNova95 got section by section.
      1) Mass: This was always a pain since no source gives an exact mass of what an empty star destroyer is like and you did an excellent job. I have no problem with using a Nimitz-Class Nuclear aircraft carrier as a base for calculating the mass. The one thing I don't think you totally accounted for is the mass of the crew (which I don't think means a lot but I'm doing this because I can). While you did consider the mass of a full platoon, according to starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_I-class_Star_Destroyer/Legends, the total number of people on board a Star Destroyer is 46,700. I'm fine with using Han Solo as an average mass of each person but that means we have to add the following mass.
      Total Mass (of officers/crew)= 37,000 x (176.37 LBS =(rounded value) 80 kg) x17 ships
      Total Mass (of officers/crew)=50,320,000 kg
      So I think Dorsk 81 was moving a total of 8,336,262,301.2495995 kg + 50,320,000 kg=8386582301.2495995
      2) Distance traveled: So the general assumption Ive done for planets in the SW universe that lack official stats on it, is to assume properties are that of Earth unless something indicates that it isn't. I thought with how important/popular the Yavin system is in the lore we would have a stat on the length of the system but we don't. The main issue with assuming that the Yavin system is the same size of our solar system is that Yavin Prime (the gas giant/planet that has the greatest orbital period in the Yavin system) has an orbital period of 4818 std days which is about 11.364 years (source: starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Yavin_Prime) while Pluto has an orbital period of 248.09 Earth years (source: www.livescience.com/33390-pluto-first-complete-orbit.html). I am aware of the math used to compute the size of our solar system and how much of a pain in the ass it would be to do here. So for now, I'm skeptical of distance the Star Destroyers traveled and assume it is way smaller.
      3) I agree with the time. I'm low ending this and lets assume 45 seconds (because a matter of seconds would be between 5-10 seconds which is just plain ridiculous at this point).
Part 3 will get done when I finally figure out what I'm using for distance traveled and why.

Some errors and misunderstandings of source material throughout, but overall, in the big picture... this was a good and welcome video, man.
Also, if YOU want to do a video on Jerec and the Valley of the Jedi, go ahead; don't rely on fan-feedback to do what YOU want to create for your channel (though it's of course fine to let it influence how you shape your channel). The same goes with Momoshiki who also created dimension as stated by the novel. Not to mention Narutoverse got Toneri otsutsuki that was capable of splitting the moon in half and sent them toward the Earth in an immense speed. Naruto and Sasuke created a moon in their fight with Kaguya and also Madara who is almost as strong as the Sage of Six Path who created a moon when he is at his deathbed. They can maybe beat the verse but with high difficulty.Abeloth can maybe defeat them with mid difficulty considering how strong she is others than that no Star Wars characters can defeat the verse. That's just my opinion though.Sorry for my bad english

The ability Shan used does both according to legends. It can amplify or be used instead of calling on further. Luke kinda says as much in legends I,Horn. Corran uses it to save another padawan. In the thermal pools. He asborbs the thermal energy and uses it to create a sheild for the student. But it can backfire if all the energy isn't used. Imo that means a force user must be able to channel such energies to begin with in order to make use of all amping. So Shan could do that on her own. She just drew the power from somewhere other than the force that particular instance.

I saw the title in my notifications, and I was immediately like; "Yeah they can, easily." Force-wielder are much stronger than they're given credit for. Valkorion wiped out a galaxy with the Nathemic ritual in the Sith Warrior story. The Outlander (Darth Nox version) can channel Valkorion's spirit from the Force walk and amp herself to the point that she could probably wipe out galaxies with ease. Then there's Luke and Sidious, both more powerful than Nox who would have at least galaxy levels of power. And even then there's beings like The Ones, Abeloth and Force Priestesses who would make Luke, Sidious, Nox, Valkorion, Yoda, Caedus, anyone around that level look like children with the Force.

Just wanted to add, for Kun, that the hypothetical amount of energy needed to convert his spirit may be huge, but it's also highly concentrated in a few square feet of space. Disperse that force across a planet, and while it's going to be potent, it's not going to be nearly as destructive. It's the same idea as PSI when striking an object--strike with a broad fist and you hit a large area with a strong blow. Strike with a single point, and you hit a tiny area with a devastating blow. Dispersion of Kun's power from the energy in which it was concentrated lessens its impact, on a decreasing exponential scale based on how much dispersion is possible. In the case of this, an entire planet's surface and subsurface, I'd say it's perfectly reasonable that the concentrated power Kun was gathering would result in that outcome. I'd wager that the amount of energy it takes to make a planet's entire living surface combust, when compacted into a tiny space like Kun did, would be more than enough to change a person-sized bundle of molecules at a fundamental level.
In other words, I'm a nerd.

“Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force. I find your lack of faith disturbing.” - Darth Vader
His words after the Death Star actualy destroying a inhabited planet.
Something that is more then once mentioned in the Star Wars Franchise is that there is an always a shifting balance between the 'dark and bright side of the force' and that the force is constantly readapting to imbalances. In other words, every action wil have an eventual reaction. My personal interpretation is that Darth Vader was well aware that the significant imbalance the destructive force of the Death Star would eventualy also cause a shift in the balance of power that could become their downfall.
Darth Vader eventualy doubting his own actions after being shown mercy by his enemies and good intent showed by loved onces and the malicious cruelty and thus eventualy turning against the Empire in the end to save his son and effort to make amends I consider part of the eventual shift in the balance of the force. That plus the fact Darth Vader probably could've probably single handedly taken down the Death Star as he is described as the stronger bearer of the force.
Not to mention the 'promise' the Dark emperor made to Darth Vader being capable to ressurect a lost loved ultimately convincing Anikin to switch sides in the first place. That's going by the movies I've seen, from what I red the written story isn't completely aligned.

Does anyone on the thread even care about basic physics in Sci-Fi.
Like in Science-Fiction. Not much scientific reality in Star Wars.
Just for the record, wiki states a human can generate up to 1.1 horsepower in spurts.
And 0.1 horsepower in a constant state. Or 890 watts(1.1hp) to 75 watts (0.1 hp).
So at the very maximum a Jedi could light-up a few incandescent light bulbs.
By using the complexity of the human mind. Complex waveforms could be generated and used for complex tasks. Involving great mental skills to generate such complex EMF signals.
But not at the power levels suggested in the above article.
75 watts is not enough to blowup a planet. But could make a nice reading lamp.
Sorry.....but the above article is just silly as it ignores basic physics. Its Sci-Fi after all.
    Not outright Fantasy.

    • @WilliamOPearce
      @WilliamOPearce 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@McBanditHope I had to look up "Sperging".......So I will be brief.
The George Lucas version of the "Force" has some base in Science Fact.
As there are some animals and fish that can sense Electrical and Magnetic fields.
And others that can generate such fields like electric eels.
So its a simple extension in human abilities to utilized such abilities.
But Jar Jar Abrams extended the "Force" to include abilities that were both absurd and impossible.
Just to make an impossible plot-point seem real if done by a "Force User".
Pulled out of Jar Jar Abram's Reality deficient mind based on his plot whims.
Like destroying entire Star Fleets using "Force Lightening". A power level that would incinerate a person if tried. Not even remotely possible using any science-fiction based ideas. No matter how far-fetched.
All done to make Rey a super-duper Mary Sue. That can do anything using the "Force".
Then the above article asked if a Jedi or Sith could blow up a planet using the "Force".
The George Lucas answer is a simple "NO".
But the Jar Jar Abrams answer, is which answer will make me the most money.
      When on the movie screen.

    • @McBanditHope
      @McBanditHope 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@WilliamOPearce Question, what animal can levitate rocks and small spacecraft? Like, not trying to be (too) smart, I'd actually like to know. Both examples come from the OT, btw.
Moreover, if George Lucas always meant for Force Users to be so mild, why, when the LucasFlim and the SW brand was under his control, greenlight a game where you play as a character who pulls a goddamn Star-Destroyer out of the Sky? (StarKiller, Force Unleashed)
Why greenlight all of that EU material that depict Jedi and Sith as near Gods in the Flesh? That all had to go through him (or at least someone he approved of). You'd think he'd put a stop to after the first couple, or at least the first several.
The Force is Space Magic, specifically, the ability to manipulate reality. If the Force is everywhere, and everything is The Force, than it is reality, and Force users manipulate it.
