      Jedi lost the war 1000 years before bby when they foolish belived themselves to have won the war against the army of darkness, allowing the sith the raise to power in the background. The sith have been set to win the war since Palpatine was ushered into power by darth plagiuos and jarjar.
      Rey should have become the next sith apprentice, and the galaxy should bow to her. The jedi are flawed and blind. Quig on gin was the last of the decent jedi imo the rest, even yodi are pawns of the rebuplic.

    I think Dark Side users should be in death as they were in life: bound to a specific plane of existence or object just like they sought to bind the Force to their will; a sort of poetic end, to be sure.

    • @frking100
      @frking100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      In fact many sith are bound to objects or their own bodies. The spirit or warped consciousness of a sith is often entrapped to their earthly belongings or bodies but it usually leads to madness as the sith is fighting oblivion with their sheer will which will slowly get eroded.

    • @spacejesus6581
      @spacejesus6581 4 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      frking100 easiest example is Darth Nihlus, play Star Wars Kotor 2 to understand
      He is the Lord of Hunger, he is a hole in the Force, so he needs to “feed” on force sensitives, over time his body just ceased to exist, he became his mask and robes
      When you kill him, his apprentice (now your ally) Visas wants to look upon his face, if you let her, she comes pack with his mask, and says “nothing, just emptiness”
      He makes a return in Old Republic MMO I believe, I haven’t played but I did see his model in a video for the game once, I believe he can now speak Galactic Basic aka English, not just Pure Sith

      Same here, almost. I actually enjoy this channel MORE than the Disney's new SW movies. They just lack that epic, saga like feel the original trilogy captured so well. For example the original trilogy is like Homer's epic, book- length poem The Illiad and then someone generations later makes a sequel using a modern style the "HAIKU" poem (just 5 lines) Hardly a saga, even if it claims to be a sequel to his epic work[s[.

    Great video! The philosophical and spiritual nature of the core Star Wars lore really speaks to Lucas’ reading and understanding of works by Joseph Campbell, the late professor who so hugely added to the study of comparative religion and mythology. Lucas has said very specifically that reading “the hero with a thousand faces” by Campbell took his script from a simple children’s film to what it became. The roots of Star Wars go so much deeper than any other simple entertainment oriented film franchise and to me that is what makes them so endearing to everyone. The parallels between ancient mythology and Star Wars are unending. All the characters are built off of long established archetypes. The force is a very close analog to the ancient Chinese teachings of Taoism and Greek stoicism. The Jedi vs Sith is a perfect representation of the concept of ying and yang. One of the defining features of the human species is how we use myth. Star Wars is a modern iteration of the core myths that have taken many many athletic forms since long before recorded history. These films direct and shape our values and character as a society/culture and as individuals. If you are a fan beyond even the level this Chanel covers I would encourage you to look into Joseph Campbell’s video series “the power of myth” which can be found on TH-cam as well as his book “the hero’s journey”. Allan wats lecture on Taoism, also on TH-cam, is incredibly powerful on its own but especially when compared to the Force. If you want to go even deeper I would recommend looking into and reading the famous psychologist and scholar Carl Jung as he greatly influenced Campbell and western thinking in general.
    I’d love to see a video on this topic, if there isn’t already one out there somewhere, though it would require a ton of research. I’d be more than willing to help.
    If anyone is interested I can share links to any of this.

    A dark side user can preserve their consciousness using material objects like the mask or through a Temple (which is strong in the force) like the one on Malachor (which had the female sith) or through their grave (like the Nightsisters or Bane). But if they want to become true force ghosts who can go anywhere and are not attached to anything, they must be like Momin and follow the will of the force.

    • @Daddy_Skeletor
      @Daddy_Skeletor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      But Momin wasnt a force ghost I think. As far as I understood it: A part of or maybe all of his consciousness was bound at his mask. Simultaneously he transferred his body through these force-portals and brought it to the altar room under Vaders castle. Pretty much using the same paths that Ezra and Ashoka used in Rebels

    Force users are truly some of the most powerful beings in star wars with the amount of danger they can pose. I really like this new canon around force ghosts and a lot of the new force users being introduced or expanded upon. Been playing kotor 2 and interacting with kreia gives me even more insight to how powerful the force truly is. When you think of how easily true sith and Jedi can alter the course of the universe, the force becomes truly terrifying.

      Exactly! The balance doesn't mean tipping in the light sides favor. But accepting both sides.
      Anakin wasn't torn apart by love or hatred. He was torn apart by the suppression of it, which is why the Jedi (at least clone war era) were indeed evil, at least indirectly. They created the ultimate opposition by trying to be reactive, rather than proactive in their use of the force.

    The light and dark, I always thought it would be more poetic if they were one and the same. And that the balance to the force meant simply to accept both sides of the same coin.
    The Jedi were too good that they became indirectly evil, which fueled the baddies to become even more effective and "evil," giving rise to Palpatine.
    Neither side should ever be more powerful than the other, but both sides should be embraced. To deny your emotions is to only grow hatred, thus a pathway to the dark side. But you should never be consumed by pure hatred either.
    Anakin wasn't torn apart by his hatred or love, he was torn apart because the Jedi wanted to suppress such emotions.
    But that's just a theory and interpretation.

  • @FandomOverload
    @FandomOverload 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I think the part of the reason Anakin could have become a force ghost, in the end, is due to the fact that he not only turned back to the light in the end but also that he did follow the will of the force by bringing balance. He killed the emperor and destroyed the imbalance. I don't know, it was just a thought.

    Great video.
    Your karaoke analogy does a good job explaining how ones personal will may be lovingly submitted to something else without being lost.
    It also reminds me of the beginning of Tolkien's Silmarillion. There, Eru Iluvatar (read as God Most High) gives musical themes upon which his Ainur (i.e. "angelic" beings) he bids sing and adorn with their own personalities. It is from these songs that the world (Ea, which includes Middle Earth) is created. Some of the Ainur begin to sing contrary to the themes given by Iluvatar, and this dissonance is the genesis of evil in the "real world" of Ea.
    In both the Silmarillion and your karaoke analogy, singing in unity with the origin of life (i.e. God&Iluvatar/the force&midichlorians) propagates goodness whereas deviation leads to suffering.

    Upon first reading the Vader comic showing that dark side portal that transcended I though it was another portal to the World Between Worlds but now it seems people think it isn’t.
    The main reason I thought it was because you see quotes from all over the Star Wars timeline like when Ezra went in the World Between Worlds.
    Still, looking at the screenshots of Vader passing through his life the lava almost looks to be making hellish versions of the portals Ezra saw.
    Btw in the fourth or fifth issue of the Galaxy’s Edge comic they showed a “sentry” on Korriban who seemed to be a Sith haunting his set of armor that could manifest some weird Dark Side energy mace to kill someone.
    A video showing that and other unique canon Dark Side abilities like Sidious’ Sith magic curse from TCW or his blue flames from Rebels could be awesome.

    My theory on ghosts catching, hitting and carrying things is that a force ghost can use the force to make something like a barrier or kind of a force field that feels material but he can also kind of turn it off. Catching and carrying just is an illusion of holding something a ghost isn't holding physically but more by the use of the force itself.
