comparing 2 budget phones to a flagship (with the prices in Europe) is wild. The fact that pixel wasn't far behind and cost so much less proves just how good of a deal that is

I got 15 points for iPhone, 10 points for Pixel and 5 Points for Nothing. For sure the iPhone is superior but overall winner should go to the pixel considering the huge price difference.
Considering you could buy the iPhone 12 and it would still either win or be about as good as the others cause the 14 is the 12, ur comment is wrong.

Honestly, iphone 14 is 4times the price of pixel 6a (pixel costs 300eur and iphone is 1150eur) and for that price, the pixel is a no brainer, no wonder no one has the iphone 14
For photos for a budget the nothing phone, but for a overall smooth experience at a budget pixel

Instead of comparing the iPhone 14 it should be have been compared with iPhone SE 3 which is around the same price as nothing phone 1 and pixel 6a

No. This is very reasonable comparison for a very expensive phone vs low price phone with almost same hardware. And their comparison is very reasonable.
but camera wise (hw and software), they are comparable because google puts the best cam on every phone. It's like comparing what is the fastest car, a BMW or a trash car with a 500bhp engine, its still a fair comparission if you compare speed.

Bad analogy.
In this scenario what max tech is doing is comparing a Toyota Corolla base model, Honda Civic base model then throwing in a Nissan Altima SR with the 2.5 turbo. Not really the same segment nor the same price range.
I automaticly choosed Pixel 6a always. In these comparison tests iPhone always gets to be choosed due to brigten things up and applying some orange shades to skin or to whole picture. Pixel 6a is the most natural one. Does not lighten up things. Sometimes it fails and lightens up and that time, things can be catastrophic.

@@Karma_616 I agree most shots were warmed up and colours enhanced with the Iphone. A few occasions it was better due to bigger sensor

I liked how you kept changing the sequence so we'd to guess which picture was taken by which phone.
Should have used the Pixel 7 but also why 60% portrait shots? It seems like it’s weighted heavily for an iPhone no matter what. (iPhone 14pro user)
I like Max's scoring. There are nuances. If phone A is only slightly better than Phone B but way better than Phone C, it should be reflected in the score of phone A and B being close. With the old scoring method it would look like Phone B and C were crap compared to phone A because only phone A got a point

Appreciate Max's scoring system to highlight strengths. Also really noticeable how often he called an aspect of shooting with the Pixel annoying. I take a lot of photos but like to do so on the fly or of things with a limited window like a bird on a branch. Needing a few goes or a perfect angle to get a decent photo isn't ideal for me, even if it does lead to a cleaner image potentially.

Good job, but I wonder how reproducible these (handheld) shots are. Also, the iPhone photos are easy to identify -- they are almost-always warmer.
13 Pro and Nothing phone (1) user: I got 11 iPhone, 11 Pixel, and 13 Nothing. I think the iPhone really shines in a studio light environment but I did notice both of the androids seemed to have a more consistent production of color temperatures, sharpness, and exposure that was to MY taste. I really appreciate the improvements Nothing has made to the software and if the rumors are true, I think NP(2) will be a hit in the US market.

Every single portrait shot comes out making the subject way too overexposed and overprocessed, I had to install an earlier version of a gcam port just for portraits
Do you always shoot with the phones with no case? If a case, do you use MagSafe? I think it is that might be a big issue with the new 14 pro max since that is now the #1 step in trouble shooting “Remove case, accessory, or film and test

I've got two iPhones broken 13/14. Both with esim hardware problem, guess I'm lucky. So I bought Pixel 6a as a backup phone for traveling. It's the cheapest esim phone I could find. And the fact that it has so good performance and cameras - is amazing.

As a mirrorless camera user, I think these smartphone cameras are still hit or miss. And for the iPhone 14’s price I was expecting a better performance but the difference to an entry level mirrorless camera with a prime lens is still stellar leaning on the mirrorless, which of course is not surprising. Some shots on the video is very different from how the others were shot and I believe can be better if the using the right exposure and focus.
Imo, pixel 6a is the bang for buck if camera is most important to the user. Just learn how to expose your images properly and manually select your color balance and you will get an even better quality. As for the stabilization, it’s not much and I think the iPhone’s is better but it’s good enough for me.
The iPhone 14 is easy to spot with its bright, saturated and over-exposed(sky) photos.
Surprise! Google software update broke the 6a. I guess its camera was too good.
It did sell so much it made people opt out on the other 6’s and even 7 series.
The 6a in the previous comparison is like a different phone in comparison

I don't quite understand why they'd compare 2 budget orientated phones to a flagship spec'd phone. I understand it's the bottom line in the 14 lineup. But still why not the SE 3? Of course the Iphone would do better than a phone costing nearly $500 less. I can bet the 6a would win vs the SE 3.
Well the answer is no one is really interested in buying the SE, atleast in 2022. People who gets SE are those companies to do rollout for their staff.

The iPhone is a control. It's a relatively high end model to show potential, and this way you can see when the two budget options come close, get nowhere near or in some cases surpass the one that's a tier above in pricing.

I'm seeing these on a chromebook. Unable to see noise on any of the photos. Also couldn't see artifacts. I picked my winners before they were identified by the phone used. I based my opinion on exposure and color unless DOF was way off.

Your "blind test" is also very flawed. Whether on purpose or by accident. Telling him the which phone was which immediately after he picked only made it so he tried to pick similar results with the other images.
You can clearly see this from his facial expressions whenever he'd pick a Pixel 6a he always looked disappointed because the image looked like it could've been churned out of an iPhone 14.
You should've waited to reveal his picks in the end .

The Pixel 6a this year sucks. I am a huge Pixel fan and have the Pixel 7 Pro. I also bought the 6a to test and it was horrible. 60hz screen, like 4 year old camera sensor and the finger print did not work for me. So.... I gave the phone to my dad 😂. The Pixel 7 Pro is the best phone I have ever used. It's basically flawless. I just signed up for the Nothing Phone 1 Beta program so I can't wait to get that in and test it.

I was 100% in agreement with the votes. The “iPhone messed up and didn’t focus” at about 13:20 where it focuses on NOTHING or avoids people happens so often on my 14 PM I want to throw it in the trash. I’m going to look for your videos on the 14PM now.
I think it's possible your camera module wasn't perfectly calibrated. Maybe you can take it to Apple to change it.

yep, messing with the results imho. The cheapest iPhone 14 i can find here is 839€... The Pixel 7 Pro (!!!) starts at 799 here and it would destroy the iPhone... The Non-Pro is 560, so still 280 bucks less... This is not "apples to apples"
Pixel 6a is known as best budget phone. So we want to see how it stacks up against a great iPhone 14 and it’s colleague nothing 1. Simple
It's two competitors Vs a relatively high end iPhone. iPhone is the control to show you an example of a high standard so you know when the other two surpass, come close or get nowhere near.
This is like rubbing on your face to believe that iPhone is better than nothing on camera, which it is. As the comparison of iPhone 14 and nothing isn't even fair as they priced way different.
Pixel 6a has good cameras, but overheating, battery drain, finger print scanner fails a lot, connectivity problems, etc, there are so many cons, imo, all those issues ruins the experience. I prefer save money for the S23. Iphone is ridiculously expensive.

No, because people who wanna buy budget phones with good camera will never go with SE because of how bad it is all other aspects. Also the comparision tells you the difference you get if you buy costlier phones over budget.
