The earlier theme songs remind me of when I would stay home from school. And my mom used to always watch All My Children at 1PM. I miss those days very, very much!!!!!!!!

@@jonimichalski69 The daytime serials really had an effect on previous generations, but sadly faded away. The shows alienated their loyal viewers to try and be more hip to new audiences and look where it got them.

RIP David (Canary), James (Mitchell), Elieen (Herlie) Ruth (Warrick) and Frances (Heflin). Without you, we wouldn't have met the characters of Adam, Palmer, Myrtle, Phoebe or Mona. Adam and Palmer are plotting to out do each other, Myrtle and Mona are having tea and Phoebe is hammered. Who knew soap operas could take place in heaven? Thank you for the memories, and to Agnes for her hard work. Without her, we would never know these characters or the shows which hold a special place in our hearts.

I will be forever bitter at ABC for canceling AMC & OLTL!! I grew up watch both shows and now I'm subjected to watching old episodes on You Tube!! Hell have no fury like a soap fan scorned!!!

ya know in my EARLIEST childhood memories i recall this theme and thinking OH NO BORING TV SHOW TIME... but damn they had some catchy music that i still enjoy today.
Jyung Woo u know I thought the very same thing too. After school and during the summer sometimes me and my brothers would have to go to our grandma's house while our mom still was at work. I always wanted to watch cartoons. But now that I'm older I greatly appreciate these shows because I almost completely missed out on them (now 32 years old). Thank you ABC for these shows

I read on Soap News that AMC is returning H. And it will be prime Time. I hope Susan Lucci, Vincent Irizarry returns.

Shanika Freeman it would be risky to revive any of those soaps as primetime series given the fact that the web series themselves failed.

were hugely responsible for the success of ABC daytime for many years which was a testament to Agnes Nixon creative genius.
She and Douglas Marland created LOVING. Although not as successful, it was still beautifully written under their guidance.
...WOAHH; I got Straight GOOSEBUMPS when listening to these themes; haven't heard them since the EARLY 90's when I was VERY Young!; my mom was GLUED to this soap; back then I liked it Too!😄❤️...I remember when moms would get ready for work, she would preset the VCR to record AMC, and gave us a STERN WARNING NOT TO TOUCH THE T.V

Me and my friends used to cut class to go down to ABC and wait for them to come out and get autographs! OLTL too they were down the street...I was in elementary school when first show came on watched with my mom...I remember trying to get a good picture with those rabbit ears!

+spinnernet1 I think you are referring to Scott Chandler the Adopted Son of Stuart Chandler. He didn't last long and when he got let go, he didn't bore any ill will. He even admitted he couldn't hold a Candle to Daniel Cosgrove who returned after playing Bill Lewis on Guiding Light.

They just had to replace it and the other ABC soaps with mediocre talk shows that regurgitate the same formula over and over. I totally understand the contributing factors but still… 🙄
That being said, at least General Hospital is hanging on but its quality appears to have declined in the past several years, so it might be on its way out, too.

That theme starting at 00:59 is gut wrenching. Almost makes me want to cry. Such nostalgia.
I’m so with you on that. I remembered growing up on the island of St. Croix and we didn’t have cable.This is one of the shows that we watched with my mom every afternoon.

This is my favorite u tube site....my mom passed in 2015 and i dont have a grave to visit...when i am feeling sad or miss her even more i come here... everyday for 30 years she got ready for work at 2 pm to these themes...they are a reflection of my childhood with these themes in the background....she only cried twice...one of them was the September day when AMC aired its final show .. RIP dear mother...

Wow what a compilation....lots of memories packed into one video...
AMC at 1pm and OLTL at 2. Those were the days. These shows were always in my life in one form or another my mom watched them when I was a kid and when I graduated high school I got really into them. Unfortunately I only got about 10 years before they were cancelled and I was heartbroken. Then Hulu teased us all and ripped them away again. Nothing can take their place. It's a tragedy to lose these shows. Nothing else comes close

I watched AMC from the beginning years until about 1985. I do remember the early theme songs. We would watch AMC in college in the student union!!!

They need to cancel The view and bring back AMC!
Akera Reese Unfortunately, the View is there to stay. If it does end in some extraordinary circumstance that can warrant a cancellation, it might be replaced by a newscast or another talk show with a similar concept. On the other hand, the soap opera genre is pretty much dying out (availability of the internet, higher employment among the target audience leading to less time at home, among other reasons), so there’s even less hope for an AMC return.

I almost cried watching this! So many memories. AMC was the first soap I ever watched, I was 7 back then and it was when Kendall first came to Pine Valley. Over the years I stopped watching but kept up with the happenings. I will never forgive ABC and Disney for cancelling such an important part of television! Just sad :-(

Wow, thank you for putting this together! I used to tape the show for the longest time and never skipped over the intro because I loved to watch and listen to it. Listening to this here even made my eyes well up for some reason. Certain ones really touch me, almost like they are reminding me of a certain time of my life from when I started watching AMC. The intro even got my daughter's attention as an infant each time I would start up the VCR. :) Thanks again!
Well one can only hope that the revival Kelly and Mark’s production company is planning will maintain some of what the show was known for.

As another kid who's mom watched ABC soaps until the early 2000's I'm actually quite impressed they used the same theme song (2 songs?) for a majority of the show's lifespan. OLTL and GH always changed their songs every few years so the nostalgia doesn't have the same hit as AMC does.

I saw the very first episdoe with my mom in 1970... I was 4. Grew up watching with my grandmother and great grandmother as they babysat me. LIke you... SOOOOO many memories. Makes me tear up a little too. NIce to hear it has the same effect on someone else :) Thank you for sharing~

They should of never took this show off the air it was the best now all they have on Daytime tv is court shows tv has really changed

Court shows and talk shows are what constitutes daytime tv on the big 4 networks nowadays. Only 4 soaps remain and this has been the case since January 2012. Cable television and streaming services allow people to watch reality television, which have overtaken soaps as the main form of daytime television entertainment since 2009. Although the soap schedule has remained unchanged since 2012, come the end of the 2020s we may no longer have any such programs between 12 pm and 4 pm each day. The last soap opera to air outside that timeframe ended in 2009. General Hospital, which aired at 3:00 pm for most of its history, moved to 2:00 pm in September 2012, although nine stations reversed those changes in 2014. Days of our Lives was renewed as expected for another season in November 2019, but it might not continue after 2021. NBC might be the first big three network to cease production on soap operas by the midpoint of next decade, and CBS and ABC could follow.

Thank you so much for posting this. I’m not a soap opera fan, but the show had wonderful theme music and, living with soap fans over the years, one of whom (1988-1991) was an AMC fanatic, I did enjoy my share of episodes. Many years later, I would occasionally turn on the TV at 1 p.m., just to hear AMC’s brilliant opening theme.

Kudos and thanks. I became a fan in early 1976 when I was home from school with the flu and I had to watch what my mother had on. The show was still on 30 minutes long then. I came to take it for granted, that it would always be there. We all learned better.

The theme starting at 41 is what I remember, flipping channels one afternoon, and it came on.
I was hooked on the theme---didn't follow the show, but that theme was sweet and sentimental to me.
I can still remember it as if it were yesterday, some hundred years ago or so.
This music has been my comfort sleep playlist ! Brings me back to being a kid growing up with it on all the time with my mom. “Ima gonna tell my kids the kardashian show is all my children”

Wow great job, I had forgotten there were so many different openings - and I watched the show (not quite from the beginning) but for many, many years - I think the time has come for this show to get a Reboot ! It should never, never have been cancelled to begin with. ABC slit it's own Daytime throat by doing that - they never even experimented with shortened inceptions of the show - I would like to see ALL MY CHILDREN return once and for all - the time has come!

I watched AMC for nearly 35 years. At home. in college and then at AT&T's break lounge.I have so many autographed pictures of them. The original Tara and Phil both passed away in the past two years. So many of them are gone. I feel like I grew up in Pine Valley

I may not have followed it for the 40 years like some of you, but I had watched it since I was 2, so AMC and Pine Valley was a part of My Childhood, And The Kanes and Martins were like old friends and though it's been revived on the Internet, and all of the veterans Julia Barr, David Canary, Cadi McClain, Jill Larson, Ray MacDonnel, Debbi Morgan etc. are giving incredible performances, most of the New "talents" are just pretty faces who can't act. I like it, I don't Love it like I use to

I'm 28 and I remember watching AMC when I was little with my mother and grandmother. I remember I would watch an episode then get ready for kindergarten class because my class started around 2 or so. This brings back so much nostalgia for me.

I'm 42 so not only my mother but all my babysitter's watched it every day. As I got older my mom made me "Tape" it by setting the timer on the VCR or recording it manually. I easily became a fan. My fav characters were Jesse, Tad, Trevor, & Jackson. For the females it was Erica, Dixie, Brooke, Angie, & Hailey. Great memories I will never forget.
