It's interesting that the streaming era that we live in now Peacock, Paramount+, Hulu, shows like "All My Children" "Guiding Light" you'd have long term subscribers just for these types of shows.

I miss OLTL and ATWT. For a short time, OLTL was revived but got cancelled because ABC was suing the people who revived it for copyright infringements.
So dumb to end a show on a cliffhanger knowing it will most likely never come back. I know they did an online deal but did it even pick up where ABC left off? Shameful way to end the show! Viewers had no closure! My grandma is still pissed about it to this day.

What I disliked is that cetain storylines were dragged out for way too long!!! For example it took nearly 3 years for Liza to find out that Adam had switched Jakes DNA with his thus Colby not being Jakes but Adams baby! This could have been resolved within a few months or even a couple weeks tops! However The Bold And The Beautiful seems to be ahead of AMC and move the pace along much faster and writing good storylines albeit I haven't watched B&B since 2010 I knew it was a good soap!

Chrishell Stause once mentioned in an interview that they had filmed a proper finale with closures for all of the characters, but when Prospect Park acquired the rights to continue the show online, they had scrapped the original ending in favor of a cliffhanger to entice viewers to watch the revival. Given how the online revival turned out, I would have rather seen the original ending and had the show end with its ABC finale.
Just looking back at the very last episode of All My Children and I got mad all over again. Why ABC just didn't renew the contract for another 40 years or more? Well it is now 2021 and they are talking about bringing the show back to primetime as Pine Valley.
Technically, since ABC owns the rights to All My Children and produced it entirely on their own, there was no need to renew the show; they could simply choose to keep it on the air or cancel it whenever they wanted (which is what they did). That said, I get what you mean. AMC and OLTL did not deserve to be treated the way they did. They never should have been cancelled. If it had been up to me both of those legendary soaps would have stayed on the air.

Jack finally gives Ericka her comeuppance after years of being her sidekick whipping boy. It was a victory bittersweet cause then we had to deal with the Food channel bleed over. What a crock!

Make it your own ended, your own feelings.....you can consider it "all your children". ( I see my ending as; Erica is in the line of fire and is killed. It was revealed in one of the early episodes of the 2013 revival that JR shot and killed Marissa before David shot JR and put him in a coma for five years. In that episode Bianca was seen visiting Marissa’s grave, updating Marissa on their children’s lives and telling her that they were supposed to be together.
All those years of that show being on and it had to end like this. So we will never know who JR shot and we will never know if Jack and Erica ended up together.

The show did connect loose ends with addressing who JR shot and with Dimitri's return where he indicated he and Alex divorced. However, I do concur that it would have been nice if they explicitly addressed if they reunited or not. The appearance we receive here is the duo fail to reconnect yet, given all of their breakups over the years, it's not inconceivable they had a reconciliation.
I love everything man not! It was one of the greatest endings in soap history. I was glad it left on a major cliffhanger and everyone's lives were still a mess just like real life. You can do fanfic for years.
I hated what they did to JR, they tried to manipulate us into hating him. And this was yet again another manipulation on the shows part. And I never bought any of it. Now, you see why it was canceled..
Instead of giving happy ever after endings to tortured characters who suffered this is what they get? actually a different ending was written for the show by Agnes Nixon herself. there were segments actually filmed where they flash forwarded to the future and showed happy endings for the characters, but Prospect Park who licensed the show from ABC for an online revival asked ABC to end with a cliffhanger. Their initial plan was to bring the show back the following Monday, but production stalled for 1 1/2 years.
All My Children, for me the show ended in 2002. 1970 To 2002. I never started to watch All My Children until the late 90s, I remember Trevor, Janet, Amanda, Haley, Mateo, Edmund, Brooke, Adam, Palmer, crazy Vanessa who was hilarious and Leo. Erica always a bitch. The good old days. My favorite theme was the David Benoit white opening with the saxophones and drums white opening. It was sure nice being in Pine Valley!

Never saw this ending before. I had watched AMC for a while in the 80's/90's; loved the misadventures of Phoebe, Benny, Palmer, Erica, Adam, Brooke, Nina, Tad, Liza, Myrtle, Mona, et al. I'm glad I hadn't stuck with it to the end because this "ending" is awful. First, you are actually going to steal from one of the most well known melodramatic endings of all time, Gone with the Wind? Unreal. And so tacky, so unoriginal. I literally winced a moment ago, watching this unfold. And then, to make things even worse, they have a killer fire a gun but they keep the victim(s) a mystery. Good grief. You are *ending* a serial that people and their families have followed for generations! You are screwing your audience blue by doing nonsense like this. You don't put a big cliffhanger in when the audience can't tune in on Monday afternoon! That's just daft. I can't believe this is the actual last moment, and not a prank or spoof. I feel badly for the fans who deserved _so much better_ than this silly crud. Shame that that the powers that be chose to go in a really stupid direction. The actors and fans should have gotten a better sendoff.

I stopped watching AMC many years ago (during the Michael Cambias times....it just go so damn ridiculous) and didn't even know that the show had ended. Just came across this video. This is how they chose to end the show? I thought to myself...I can't believe I even watched this crap in the first place. Dumb ass show lol

Say what you want on McTavish but Z/K flourished under her. They only had a magical flow about a year after her last episodes aired in 2007.

@@monicahester1172it's likely they did not get back together as they didn't explore that on the revamped series. The show did connect loose ends with addressing who JR shot and with Dimitri's return where he indicated he and Alex divorced.
However, I do concur that it would have been nice if they explicitly addressed if they reunited or not. The appearance we receive here is the duo fail to reconnect yet, given all of their breakups over the years, it's not inconceivable they had a reconciliation.

I love everything man not! It was one of the greatest endings in soap history. I was glad it left on a major cliffhanger and everyone's lives were still a mess just like real life. You can do fanfic for years.

Instead of giving happy ever after endings to tortured characters who suffered this is what they get? I’m sure whoever wrote this ending is who wrote for the show the last 5 years or so and with it focusing on Ryan and greenlee416 and Kendall and Zack (2 very boring couples, one in which I know weren’t a fan favorite couple) it’s no wonder why the show went downhill
actually a different ending was written for the show by Agnes Nixon herself. there were segments actually filmed where they flash forwarded to the future and showed happy endings for the characters, but Prospect Park who licensed the show from ABC for an online revival asked ABC to end with a cliffhanger. Their initial plan was to bring the show back the following Monday, but production stalled for 1 1/2 years.

I never started to watch All My Children until the late 90s, I remember Trevor, Janet, Amanda, Haley, Mateo, Edmund, Brooke, Adam, Palmer, crazy Vanessa who was hilarious and Leo. Erica always a bitch. The good old days. My favorite theme was the David Benoit white opening with the saxophones and drums white opening. It was sure nice being in Pine Valley!

Erica survived the final ABC episode. She has been mentioned occasionally on General Hospital in the years after AMC’s end, implying that she is still alive and well. It was revealed in an early episode of AMC’s online revival that Marissa was the one who JR shot and killed.

Never saw this ending before. I had watched AMC for a while in the 80's/90's; loved the misadventures of Phoebe, Benny, Palmer, Erica, Adam, Brooke, Nina, Tad, Liza, Myrtle, Mona, et al. I'm glad I hadn't stuck with it to the end because this "ending" is awful. First, you are actually going to steal from one of the most well known melodramatic endings of all time, Gone with the Wind? Unreal. And so tacky, so unoriginal. I literally winced a moment ago, watching this unfold. And then, to make things even worse, they have a killer fire a gun but they keep the victim(s) a mystery. Good grief. You are *ending* a serial that people and their families have followed for generations! You are screwing your audience blue by doing nonsense like this. You don't put a big cliffhanger in when the audience can't tune in on Monday afternoon! That's just daft.
I can't believe this is the actual last moment, and not a prank or spoof. I feel badly for the fans who deserved _so much better_ than this silly crud. Shame that that the powers that be chose to go in a really stupid direction. The actors and fans should have gotten a better sendoff.

I stopped watching AMC many years ago (during the Michael Cambias times....it just go so damn ridiculous) and didn't even know that the show had ended. Just came across this video. This is how they chose to end the show? I thought to myself...I can't believe I even watched this crap in the first place. Dumb ass show lol

@@jaymejohnson2375 Zach/Kendall were fine up until about late 2008 when the show was dominated by them, nearly every storyline connevted back to their nauseating love and all their main plots centered around mundane secrets or extramarital affairs.
Say what you want on McTavish but Z/K flourished under her. They only had a magical flow about a year after her last episodes aired in 2007.

Pretty sure they made up who JR shot. I don’t think Melissa the one who was originally shot. I think that’s just how the reboot wanted it to go. We will never really know who JR shot
